@@petar1499 Well, not exactly. Vegans aren't mentally ill. But they are religious though. It's amazing how they're so arrogant that they feel entitled to claim their religion must be used as a universal basis for morality, under the premise that animals have "rights".
@Icy Craft What do you mean by "Why can’t you leave people alone?" You're the one that replied to my passive comment, I didn't harras you actively. And even if, then I'm sure the uncomfortable feeling that I would cause upon someone by "harrasing" them with just open and honest questions for a rational conversation, is nothing compared to the uncomfortable feeling, unimaginable suffering and needless misery that the innocent animals have to go through their whole life because of that persons dietary lifestyle. That's a red herring. That's not being aware of the gravity of the situation. After all, the only reason the stuff in this video happens is because people want to eat that way. Thus I imagine most vegans try to solve this problem at the root. Namely by convincing the general people, rising awareness, asking to eat healthier, etc. To the second part of your comment: It's absolutely true that this world isn't perfect, that there is lots of injustice, oppression, needless suffering and misery. Most people are aware of that and have no other choice to accept this truth, you're absolutely right. But doing nothing is ignoring the issue. This is precisely why ethical activist work to ask people to live kinder and more caring is so important. After all, I'm sure you would also not want to be exploited, tortured and kept in slavery for your whole life. The thing is that we didn't choose to be born human or one of these animals in the video. You're just lucky, they're just unlucky. But it doesn't need to be that way. And that's the clue. If people from the begining didn't care about moral emergencies and just took everything for graps fatalistically, then we would still live in a world without no laws, no funtional judiciary system, or any kind of progress concearning quality of life at all. So more power to the activists, as far as I'm concerned. Sorry for the long reply, must be a pain to read, but if you wanna be scientifically honest and accurate, theres no way around long texts.
I needed to see this. I was vegan for over a year, but slipped back into vegetarianism because honestly I like the taste of cheese. And I tell myself "it's only cheese, I don't drink milk, I don't eat eggs" but how wrong I am. I fight for animal rights while I am directly one of the reasons they suffer. I am going vegan again. Today is the day I no longer continue to support this suffering
It makes sense that you like cheese, it's got natural chemicals from the mother that releases endorphins in the calf's brain that keeps it coming back for more milk. Except, it's not in the calf... it's in your body. There's no reason why you would, of course, choose cheese if it didn't create this effect and like the taste, so, whenever you're confronted with cheese again just connect the animal to the product. After nearly being vegan for a year, the smell of cheese actually makes me gag and nearly vomit. Just choose some vegan cheese and know you've not hurt an animal in the process this time.
There are some great vegan cheeses out there now. Give them a try! :) My personal favourite is violife but I’ve heard good things about applewood as well. 😁
@@Assassin99584 When people read about or see pictures from the dog meat festivals in China, they resort to hate, racism and would probably even be violent if it happened in their vicinity. These people - even though they are appalled by violence towards dogs - pay for the same torture, murder and abuse of cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys and fish. This contradiction, that only certain species of animals matter, and that we can treat these animals the way we want as long as it's for food, is very much a thing. And that is what carnism is. Carnism is a subset of speciesism. Both carnism and speciesism are notions that the human species can treat other species the way we want because we are superior to them. Carnism is related to food, and speciesism to all exploitation of animals for all purposes.
I realised a year ago that vegetarianism isn’t enough and went vegan. Education is the key - I think most people just don’t realise the full extent of what goes on. Thank you for all the work you do Ed - the animals are lucky to have you as their voice.
Agreed, I also went vegan two years ago after being a vegetarian for 4 years, cause I discovered the truth about diary products. Before, I just didn't know...
Turned 18 recently and i know how you feel, it's just how parents educate their children and i kinda blame them, i mean how can i spend only 18 years and discover the truth and they spend 60 years on this planet and are still ignorant about the truth behind animal products.
@@linksusbellgate5619 yeah why should we try to end animal abuse? Why don’t we just start stealing people’s dogs and cats and eat them and breed them. Why don’t we get stray dogs and adopt abandoned pets and just abuse them even more? Bruh how can someone lack so much empathy. That’s mad fucked up.
Yes I completely agree with this. We can all do activism even just a t- shirt or leaflet drops. But the most effective for me is attending a vigil to see the animals before they go to slaughter and actually attended outreach. 🙏
do it the democratic way, peacefully protest in the streets (preferably a large city or the countrys capital) and hope for the best, let the government decide. if they decline, then do it vladimir lenin style. over throw the gov ern ment
This is just so horrific. And so tragic that billions of normal, decent people around the world don't realise the torture and cruelty that their food choices are directly causing. I only recently went vegan and I shudder to think of what the harm I caused. These videos are so powerful because they simply leave no room for an objective defence of vegetarianism, let alone eating meat. The problem is getting non-vegans to actually watch them and overcome the huge cognitive biases that people entrenched in their attitudes. But that is the work I guess. Thanks for your work Ed.
Brandon Jones Maybe you didn't. I went vegan because the animal agriculture industry is destroying the planet that my kids are going to grow up on. Going vegan is the most effective way to directly reduce your impact on the environment and climate change, as well as depriving the industry of your support. The health benefits were my second reason. I only knew a little about the ethical reasons at first. Now I know more it's as important to me as the environmental reason not to support animal agriculture.
Can't believe I haven't thought or researched any of this sooner. I am Vegan for almost a year now, wish I had my eyes opened to the truth sooner... :(
What a morbidly depressing way to start the day. Thanks for keeping it real though Ed. It feels good to be vegan and know how many lives are being saved because of it.
Good for you. Remember if you fall off the bandwagon, just get back on it. Dont feel disheartened. It took me about a year to transition. Might take you more or might take you less. But dont give up. Hardest part for me was parents. Theyre strict vegetarian and were actually somewhat disappointed when i refused roti with butter on it. Or if i didnt want their mattar paneer. Its was more about their ego and probably inner guilt that my refusing to consume dairy put them in a moral superiority complex. My parents are cult member and always thought that they had moral superiority over others because theyre lacto vegetarian. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@MadManohar mattar paneer is so good but I will try harder and hardest ....I used to be a hard core non veg to rebel against my parents and my IndanNess ...if I give up goat meat ....I think nothing is impossible

You’ve made some incredible videos lately, Ed. These are well made and easy for people to understand as you present the facts in a timely manner. Good job! Will be sharing this one too on mye fb feed
This video is totally horrible and so extremely important to get spread to as many people as possible. Thank you to everyone involved for making it. Let’s help spread it, everyone.
Another heartbreaking but incredibly important video and message - I made the change a while back because of your videos, I only wish I could get everyone I know to watch this but will do my best. Thank you for giving them a voice.
Honestly That is a Much needed video as I am constantly struggling to make the switch from vegetarianism to going Vegan, Just need to overcome the cultural and traditional aspect of consuming dairy since ages, they say "old habits die hard" , But these changes can be done.
It feels almost wrong to "like" this video because there Is nothing about it that is entertaining to watch, seeing animals suffer so greatly breaks my heart. Ed, you've yet again so clearly informed us all of the horrors of the dairy and egg industry and I thank you so much for being an amazing advocate for Veganism.
some people that are vegan are extreme, ofc not veganism its self. i watched pierce morgan who was debating with vegans, year old video, he pointed out one vegan had a shotgun and entered into someone elses property. the usual thing a non extreme vegan would do, wouldn't you think?
@@bitizen2311 Of course. Every group has individuals in it that take things too far. The vegan movement is so logical and well intentioned in practice, but of course there are individuals who will spread that message in the worst way. Same with meat eaters. If there's one thing both groups should agree on its that shitty people exist in both groups haha. But people really have to stop generalizing based on their limited interaction with a select few individuals. Its so dumb. Judging thousands of people based on the 5-10 that you know. Absurd.
@@PavelBarber That's just like judging the entire german race because they lived in nazi germany, and still are racially discriminated now. I get you. I still talk to vegans that are nice, I refuse to listen to those who constantly shame me, and I'm one of those people who are put under stress from being shamed a lot. Not only I talk to them, I do ask for tips and stuff, they listened to my problems, the folks over at dominion didn't.
@@bitizen2311 Yeah, again - no point even entertaining the idea that a sub group is one way. Just listen to those who respect you. But also be aware that some will challenge you on your logic and reasoning and you have to be able to have discussion with those with an opposing view, and be open to the fact you could be doing something that isn't right for you. That's why it's important for those delivering a message to be non judgmental. Just have to make sure that we're not morally justifying something through false means. Have to be honest with ourselves and make decisions that align with our core value and beliefs. Then we can truly say we think for ourselves, and we live a life we are proud of. It extends far beyond just nutrition.
Very sad but true video. Grew up a dairy farmer and refused to participate later in life due to all the suffering I witnessed. Became vegan due to my daughter being born, but I still show tears when I see cows being treated that way.
I first went vegetarian 5 years ago, with the same thought; that I don't "kill" any animals for my food. Until I learned what happened in the dairy and egg industry :/ Kinda sad that it took me 4 years to completely let go of dairy and egg (egg was the hardest to let go for me somehow, even though I was dairy free most of the time then). Vegan for 1 year now and glad I made the choice!
I have been vegan for years but this video still made me feel so sick. Becoming vegan was the best decision I ever made and completely changed me as a person
I appreciate the warning at the beginning Ed. This video is so so important, because the group of people closest to switching to a vegan lifestyle are vegetarians. Imagine how much the movement would change if every vegetarian went vegan. Lets keep it up guys, let's keep speaking up for the voiceless.
I actually prefer the taste of rice milk over cow milk, and Costco has some amazing vegan mozzarella. 👏 if more people were more open minded to trying new things, im sure there would be much more vegans in the world
Petar Jevremovic I used to say I’d never be vegan because I likes cheese too much... then I learned the truth. Just thinking of eating dairy products now makes me sick to my stomach. 🤮
I have the same problem. My parents say veganism is to restrictiv and dangerous (I had anorexia) but i don't want cows being murderd just for me drinking milk! Let me know if you have convinced your parents
I personally would change the title so this is easier to find, this is such a good video - great at getting the message across to someone doesn't know.
I have been eating everything for 30 years, although i have been thinking before about going vegetarian. To be honest, it thought it would be too hard for me. After the Netflix documentaries I started living vegan. It's been a little over a month now and It's going quite good. However, It's not easy to convince people that you have had a honest change of heart when you are 30 years old. This video helps me a lot sticking to it, thanks!
Your videos are absolutely beautifully made! You're making people think, change, and ultimately you're reducing the number of animals who would otherwise be exploited. Bravo!
Back when I was pescatarian, I also used to think of veganism as "extreme." We often don't associate egg and dairy production as causing direct harm and slaughter of animals, but the exploitation and torture are all the same. Those who call vegans "extreme" have never set a foot inside a slaughterhouse, factory farms, fur farms, animal labs, animal-breeding mills, circuses, zoos, racing shows, and the list of institutions that exploit animals goes on. They've lived in ignorance, purposefully turned a blind eyes, for they're too cowardly to face the reality that the world ain't "la vie en rose." I sat my ignorant, meat-eating friends down, who initially labeled my ideologies as "extreme," through a 1-minute video of practices that go on in the meat, dairy, egg industries, and they gave up meat on the spot.
Thank you for dedicating your career to the protection of animals. You have already made such a difference to the way people think, and your reach is so far. I am often coming across people at my university who accredit you for leading them to veganism :)
I dont think there's an ethical argument for vegetarianism, but there is absolutely an argument for vegetarianism as a part of the transition process to veganism. Everyone I know who is vegan, who wasn't raised that way from birth, transitioned and didn't go cold turkey at all, including myself.
Eliminating flesh from your diet is a HUGE change and is far significantly better than continuing to eat meat. We can have a vegetarian world and not kill a single animal for product, its obviously impossible to have meat without murder.
@@linksusbellgate5619 No.........you *Create a Better World by...............NOT Intentionally and Needlessly Harming Innocent Sentient Individuals* Mandating to love your neighbor is not only morally bankrupt because it's like a Communist Dictate over people's emotions and ergo a draconian, dictatorial imposition of will upon others but it's also manifestly ludicrous to suggest you must love someone you don't.
@@linksusbellgate5619 Veganism =/= a diet. Just yesterday I told three different people that I was thinking of making the switch from veganism, of now almost 3 years, to simple vegetarianism. Thank you for changing my mind about changing my mind.
this was such a powerful video that I needed to see, been vegan for a year but then went travelling in vietnam and had to switch back to being vege. It kinda spiralled for that month and I realised that I had missed dairy chocolate and having eggs and since I came back home I was tempted to just stop being vegan and be vegetarian. This is such an important video because we are so disconnected and at times it feels like people want you to fail and not be vegan so they dont have to think about the cruelty. My mind is set again and if I ever feel uncertain I will come back to your channel. You are doing amazing work thank you Ed
I just sent this to a class mate who said: I cAn UnDeRsTaNd VeGeTaRiAnS, bUt BeEiNg VeGaN iS eXtReM. Let’s see what he says Ps: Thanks for ur videos ed, they’re rly helpful
In my experience those who say it are omnis who are starting to understand we don't need meat but since milks and eggs aren't beings the gap they have in their mind to get to understand its cruelty is still a laaate thought to them. (They usually don't even become vegetarian smh.)
@@pixelated.peachyangel Whenever i ask my mom why she won't stop eating meat she says she could stop eating meat but not eggs because of proteins, even though she clearly knows protein is in so many other food....I feel like sometimes it's impossible to talk with people if they aren't willing to be more open minded
As a far m manager, the cruelty argument pissed me off. A lot of the evidence ed showed in this video was the exception rather than the rule, and additionally we as farmers try to ensure animal welfare is kept high on priorities.
We need to find people all around the world to translate and voice over this video in their own language! If this video would be German I could show this my family and they would understand much more!
Thank you for making this video. I live in India & people turn a blind eye & deaf ear whenever i bring up this topic despite being Hindu & worshipping cows.
@Southy "Early is good for veal." No shit, sherlock? It's practically the definition of "veal". Glad you enjoy the taste of a murdered baby cow, d-bag ...
As I watch again the unthinkable pain of what these animals are going through my heart is tearing, thank-you Ed, please please please make yourself be heard louder much much louder, it has to stop now right now, people have to see
I have a sibling who once said this to me: "Veganism is extreme, there needs to be a balance". It's really not nice to hear all the same stuff everyday from a programmed society but it really hurts when your family is in the same boat... Thanks Ed, hope your videos reach everyone someday 🙏
Veggie going Vegan here, just wanted to clear a few things up: In India it differentiates in most state what kind of cattle is killed. Only in the right most states is where cows aren't protected because they are of a different breed than the "religious" ones, so to speak. Killing female cattle is illegal almost all over but it varies where you can kill bulls and calves. Either way, 55% of our milk come from Buffalos and those are the ones that after "completing their purpose" are sent to slaughterhouses, where all the beef or rather "carabeef(buffalo meat)" is exported to different countries and the skin used as leather domestically, hence giving us the "honour" of ranking 2nd place in beef exports for a while now, if not keep on fluctuating between 1st and 5th place. Our "beef ban" just replaced one animal for another, and that doesn't mean that our cows, regardless of our Monopolic Amul Company Milk Industry(Along with Mother Dairy and Go), don't suffer behind closed doors. Few places here where you can get beef. And if you're ever caught getting cow beef beware of the Hindu Cow vigilantes in the upper states, they won't hesitate to kill you, but what's worse is that they may take pleasure in it if you're Muslim. Happy to see Ed applying India in his videos. Just wished that he'd make a video with a sole focus on India, but it'd be hard since very little cruelty information gets out, but definitely not impossible. For example: It is common practice that after killing the buffalo calf for its milk to stuff it's head and body with hay and balm to trick the mother into thinking that the calf is still there and produce milk. Of course the audience, especially from the Indian community, may have backlash, but since when has that ever stopped him before?
Hi, do you have any sources for practices in the dairy industry in India ? I am often asked about this and have no credible info to back my arguments with.
I'm no international dairy expert, but there's just certain practices that are universal. Impregnating the cow, removing the baby, then killing the cow after milk production. No one is going to keep these animals as companions, it's a business at the end of the day. Cows can live up to 25 years in nature. That's a lot of food, water, land use and medical care if they weren't killed. So I'm sure in Indian, what you just watched in this video, happens just the same there my friend.
I often question veganism and if it's the best thing I can do for other beings. There are still many issues I need to research and address but I'm convinced I could never deliberately support harm like this again.
I've been pescatarian for a few years now. Going off to uni in a few days and was already planning on ditching all animal products once there, but this video has ensured I will be entirely commited. Nothing justifies making so many animals lives sheer and enduring terror.
My vegetarian roommates got so offended when I denied ordering pizza and resisting food that contain butter and ghee. Earlier when I was a non veg and go out to eat with them, I would always eat veg food so as to not them make feel uncomfortable....but these bitches were asking me to eat chicken and dairy items. I hate that inconsiderate behaviour when I never asked them to eat nonveg, who the hell are they to criticize me and make fun of me for being vegan. I told them that remaining of my life I'll live as a vegan. 🙏🙏🙏
Yeah Ive noticed that with vegetarians from indian backgrounds. They have this moral superiority complex. It kills them to eat with vegans. My family (except my wife and children) are all like that. They try and mock me as well.
This was so brutal I cried soooooo hard for these poor innocent souls😭😭😭😭 been vegan for almost a year. People know this is wrong but they feel powerless. I say if you're awake, ACT LIKE IT! Challenge those around you to do the same! I've noticed since being vegan that when I tell ppl I am, they say things like "oh I don't eat much meat anymore." They question their own moral codes because they too, innately I believe, want to do the right thing for their health and nature. I didn't know that becoming vegan would affect others this way.
It never gets easier watching these videos, but I needed a reminder why I started and why, after falling into vegetarianism for some months, it just doesn't make sense to keep lying to myself thinking it isn't that bad, and why I had SO much passion for this and so much anger and love for this cause. So thanks Ed, you're a really cool guy.
In a life, where all of us continuously consume products that are made from milk and eggs throughout our lives, it is very difficult to eventually make a shift. Majority of products in supermarkets will have milk or eggs in them: all pastries, cookies, many brands of bread, etc. Vegan options even in the western world are still very scarce. It is just mind gobbling that we all grow up being a part of this cruelty without having any thought of it. It is in fact quite ridiculous that we let ourselves go like this, normalising this inhumane cruelty and systematically shutting our eyes off the reality.
Yep that's why people get defensive more about veganism. They jump to the conclusion they can't have the birthday cake at a party for example, instead of focusing on how to make a cake without milk and eggs. The food at the supermarket that can be made without milk/eggs comes to everyone's mind...because they sneak them in (sad lol)
And this mindset needs to change and it will change when people go out of their way to buy vegan products. I fully agree that when I first became vegan everyone in my family was upset for a short few weeks as we had to make minor adjustments as I was already vegetarian but soon after my wife went vegan, it was so easy. She looked up for all the replacement products and in fact we learnt a lot more on how to prepare healthy plant based meals through various YT channels Avant- Garde by Gaz Oakley PickUpLimes NutritionFacts.Org I am so glad I made the transition.
I just donated 25 British pounds for your amazing work! I truly appreciate all that you do for the animals . I discovered that I can still have milk in my coffee!, Oat milk is gorgeous! So many different ways to eat that doesn't include cruelty to other sentient beings! Thanks Ed, you are incredible! X Lisa Cooper UK X
I am currently vegetarian, and had plans of going vegan by the end of the year. But I have recently watched a lot of your and other people's videos about veganism, and this one was really the last straw. I am definitely going vegan as soon as my fridge is emptied of eggs and dairy 🌱

TRUE
Chandi Patah carnism isn’t a real thing tho
Yess absolutely

Yes I completely agree with this. We can all do activism even just a t- shirt or leaflet drops. But the most effective for me is attending a vigil to see the animals before they go to slaughter and actually attended outreach. 🙏

Stopped being vegan a week ago, started end of july. Will not be going vegan again. I did it for the same reason you did....
same, I became vegan on sep 2nd. I am thinking of my 19 (almost 20) years of life where I ate meat and all that. The damage I must have cost.

Maybe you didn't.

Honestly That is a Much needed video as I am constantly struggling to make the switch from vegetarianism to going Vegan, Just need to overcome the cultural and traditional aspect of consuming dairy since ages, they say "old habits die hard" , But these changes can be done.

some people that are vegan are extreme, ofc not veganism its self. i watched pierce morgan who was debating with vegans, year old video, he pointed out one vegan had a shotgun and entered into someone elses property. the usual thing a non extreme vegan would do, wouldn't you think?
@@bitizen2311 Of course. Every group has individuals in it that take things too far. The vegan movement is so logical and well intentioned in practice, but of course there are individuals who will spread that message in the worst way. Same with meat eaters. But people really have to stop generalizing based on their limited interaction with a select few individuals. Its so dumb. Judging thousands of people based on the 5-10 that you know. Absurd.

I am a grown 20 old years old man, but this fotage made me cry. Your work is so important, please don't ever stop!
This is so important. Keep it up.

Of course the audience, especially from the Indian community, may have backlash, but since when has that ever stopped him before?
thanks again Ed, you are amazing!
Thank you Ed 🙏💚
I often question veganism and if it's the best thing I can do for other beings. There are still many issues I need to research and address but I'm convinced I could never deliberately support harm like this again.
I’ve been waiting for this one. Thank you so much Ed

She looked up for all the replacement products and in fact we learnt a lot more on how to prepare healthy plant based meals through various YT channels
