no it doesn't. The flywheel is a completely seperate component from the clutch, Yes, they do work together, but to call the flywheel a part of a clutch isn't correct. Go to a parts store and buy a clutch, you won't get a flywheel.

They give you the best of worlds of both the automatic and manual. A lot of drag racers will just use power glides built by GM. It’s an automatic with only two gears but with the power most drag cars are producing they don’t need to advantage of close gear ratios.
Cody Allen pardon me trying to over simplify, but a lot of them really cannot shift on their own. We've got an old Corvette with a th400 that has no ability to shift itself at all. Used to be a stock automatic transmission, now it peels the tires going into third

Some racers do modify their transmissions to behave like yours but by putting a manual valve body in their automatics. However it makes it more into a clutch less manual if anything as the point of a semi automatic is to be able to fully operate on it’s own but is also able to be fully controlled by the driver. For instance you could have a 4L60E and with a good transmission controller can set it up to be a semi automatic transmission. You can even get paddle shifters and bump shifters now. But your transmission still is an automatic with a manual valve body or at least it behaves as one. True semi automatics are typically used in high end cars like Ferraris and shift perfectly on their own.

Top fuel 11,000 hp drag cars gears actually work by the gear change happening so fast they don’t need a clutch for anything other then launch. By the end of the run the discs have all fused and will need replacing before the next run
ummm no not always. a powerglide will only get you so far. but they not manuals either they typically are planetary gear clutch packs... and Im refering to Lenco type transmissions (cuz techincally an automatic is just a bunch of clutches.... controlled by hydraulics...)
