@@subnegro4946 thx for the compliment! ok, so I had to google some of what you just said. I understand lingo and measurements just become standard and hard to switch from; like everyone in Europe is familiar with 0-60 etc but why do we need to mix imperial _and_ metric!? you gave me the measurements for your wheels and tires in inches, cm, and mm. learning all this "car language" is like trying to memorize merc model names. like do they realize how little telling me it's a coupe narrows it down for me? anyways seems like you have a nice setup. and not surprised to hear that it's holding up well. I looked up LCA and I was just wondering if it's anything similar to bags. what are the pros and cons of each? are bags cheaper but they mess up your ride more? are bags only supposed to be used when stationary?

I owned a 13 BRZ for 5 years and my main complaint with it was that the engine felt like it had a pile of stones mixed in with the oil. It was very coarse and rough to rev out. I didn't really care about the low power because I enjoyed being able to drive balls out most of the time. All the other obvious complaints like cheap interior and loud on the highway can be ignored because that is what you get for a cheap sports car.

A centrifugal supercharger is nearly as bad as a turbocharger. There’s no lag, but the boost delivery isn’t linear.
What the automotive industry needs to figure out is a decent axial supercharger. As efficient as turbocharger or centrifugal supercharger, but with the linear delivery of a Roots blower.
But other than a very few in specialized applications, there aren’t many due to size, cost, complexity, and noise (you’d have to have a bleed valve-kind of like a blow off valve-open at idle to get rid of the unwanted boost).
No.. for a pure experience, the predictably of NA will always win.
This car isn’t for winning drag races. Buy a top spec family sedan and it will go faster. It’s for YOUR experience.

@@joelness Exactly!! I'm making it a point to never buy a new car as long as I live.
Slight tangent, this is also the same reason that I'll probably never own a Tesla. They buy back their used cars and sell them only slightly under what a new car would be, totally skewing the market for their cars. Tesla does some pretty shady stuff. EVs are the future, but I'm banking on another company to make a decently reliable car with no weird luxury BS.

Things to consider before buying this from a former 86 owner.
    1. TRD exhaust sounds great but drones at highway speeds.
    2. The torque dip requires you too keep the car at 4500 RPM or higher.
    3. Do not go lower than gt trim, as the cable linkage for HVAC controls on the lower trims feels so cheap.
Lastly, don’t think I hate it. Compared to my 19 mustang gt, the 86 is playful, more forgiving, cheaper to run and amazing steering.

I almost bought a new BRZ (in yellow)c5-6 years ago. I loved its looks and how it drove, but I held off because it seemed too small. Ironically, I bought a new ND1 Miata almost 3 years ago, which is of course even smaller. I still love my Miata, but I am very excited about the new BRZ and 86 coming this fall. If it lives up to expectations, I'll sell or trade the Miata for a new BRZ or 86 - but probably the BRZ. I like the front end better, at least in the photos and videos I've seen so far. 6:15 amen 🙏🏽 I’m just happy to see these on the road and that they exist at all. These are going to be the cars future generations desire looking back like the way we do looking at supras, 300ZX’s, Silvias, integras, 3000GTs, etc. Because they offer a simplistic sports car experience without the distractions. Not saying the 86/BRZ are on the same performance playing field as some of those other cars, but they do the formula of simple sports car fun that you can go ape shit with mods if you want justice. They’re a smiles per gallon car. Period.

I have never even driven one but I agree. A couple of my favorite all time cars owned were a 1986 Mazda RX7 2+2 and a 1993 Honda Prelude. Both were purchased new with manual transmissions. And I have owned several cars with over 300 hp. Also with manuals! I very much have enjoyed the 2006 Mazda3 5 speed sedan I bought new and it is currently my daily driver until I get my next new car. Oh, and I had a 2003 350z I bought new but with an automatic. I drove it, liked it, and bought it because I couldn't wait for a manual. It just didn't satisfy me in the long run because it was an automatic.

@@t.k.morris wow those are some awesome cars to have owned!!! And I love Zs!!! Actually considering one still going to compare it with some of the new sports cars we have today and go from their but I’ve always appreciated them and adored them. I love the Mazda3 too and my dads had 3 of them haha sometimes we’ll switch cars just so I can drive his and I drive a GTI lmao they’re so much fun and so engaging. I can definitely see how the automatic wouldn’t work for you long term coming from driving manuals mostly. I’m trying to get into the habit of driving manual more often myself but traffic is just getting worse everyday and driving skills are on an decline

Always reminded me of the more classic z cars. It looks less bulbous than the modern z’s, and to be honest, I think it looks more sporty and just flat out better. It will be interesting to see the new versions of these cars come up against the 400z. I think they will become very competitive, especially since the new versions of these seem to becoming more hatchback-esque and they seem to almost share the same grill and headlight styling as the 400z. Very similar price range too. I’m incredibly excited as I love the old Z cars. I’d love to hear your analysis this too!

    I went fiesta st instead.
Way more practical, just as fun, pretty much every time you see the two stock vehicles on a track they're laying down very similar times, and with very little money you can max out the stock turbo and gain about 30 more horsepower and 70 more pound-foot of torque.
The only real downside is it's not rear wheel drive, which isn't really that big of a deal because the fiesta gets its tail out really easily, easily enough that if you're not expecting it, it could bite you in the ass.
The fiesta is definitely not as good looking.
