MvC2's art is what I really adore about this game. And with that I mean the amazing pieces of artwork that show up on stuff like that sick VS screen. I wish more games portrayed Ryu and Ken as such young guys.
YoungCrespo They used the Alpha designs in this game, which was a prequel so Ryu is like in his early 20s in this game.
Which is weird considering MvC1 used SF2 Ryu (red headband).
I too like the art style of MVC2,it looks good,but my favorite is MVC1 due to how colorful and nice they look.

God, this game truly is the ULTIMATE all star dream match game. Think about it, U.S vs Japan. Comics V.S Anime, basically. The best crossover game....EVER. Sure it may not be the most balanced, sure the cast is mostly Street Fighter and X men. But the idea of the game sells it to me. What does Street Fighter and Marvel have in common? Nothing. That fact that they have NOTHING in common and still make this concept super cool and exicting is what makes this series and this game extremely super charming. Bless this game.
MvC is the same concept of what makes Kingdom Hearts a succesful franchise.
It made a combination of 2 unrelated companies (Square Enix and Disney), and made a complete and enjoyable game. It's not the same style, but being able to fight along with Final Fantasy characters, with Disney characters, and also "revive" the story of the movies, is what makes Kingdom Hearts a really good crossover. And also with an original story, that turned really good.

I remember seeing this game in arcades and being absolutely blown away by the animations and super moves. Game was such a visual masterpiece.

The best part about mvc2 versus most fighting games is there isn't a valley where it's unfun to start digging into deep mechanics that shoots back up when you can start doing well at evolution tournaments. It's all dumb fun from start to finish.

The one thing I hated was that only the stages had music themes and not the functions.

From the character roster you can see the idea was to include everyone from previous marvel vs games (counting xman cota and msh as marvel vs games).
They should've added anitta from darkstalkers, she is at the marvel super heroes fighting game and she is the last REALLY REAL WITHOUT A DOUBT character left to be added.

Fun fact: in the Japanese release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the Dreamcast, there is an online play feature. If you want to play online on MvC2, you will need a Japanese Dreamcast. Note that the orange swirl on the Japanese Dreamcast represents Japan, the red swirl on the USA Dreamcast represents the USA and the blue swirl on the PAL region Dreamcast represents the PAL region. If the online functionality will not work on the Japanese version of MvC2, then just stick with playing offline against your friends and family members in person.

Damn! This game was my childhood! It's crazy cos you're so good at it, but when I had it on PS2 I was really young, thus I was really shit. I remember it took months for me to finally beat the game (and that trippy red goop monster demon thing).
Also, I hated Amingo back then. My roster was ALWAYS Wolverine, Cyclops, and Cable...and maybe Hayato if I was feeling adventurous.
But yeah, lots of nostalgia here. I basically played this till my disc got fucked. Good 'ol days, when I didn't have a care in the world apart from when next I'd be able to play it.

To me, this was the greatest game in the entire Vs series. I feel that nothing before nor since has topped the level of competitive play, entertainment factor, and engaging viewership that MvC2 gave us for those 10 years. I understand that everyone has their favorite fighting game and I also know that many fans may love uMvC3 much more, but man there was something truly special about this installment. The expansive roster (yes I know there were a lot of clone characters), the first time we ever got 3 on 3 gameplay, and a thriving LAN scene with EVO every year made every aspect about Mvc2 super thrilling. I remember how excited I was as a kid anytime I went to a local arcade that had one of these glorious cabinets. Even though I was terrible, I never stopped having fun with the game. But the difficulty factor and tough frame executions really made it all the more satisfying when you won a match against a cousin or a friend. They don't make em like this anymore :(

I actually played the authentic MvC2 cabinet a few months back, and it was great. The cabinet is a great size, perfect screen, and seeing high-poly models coming from an arcade cabinet is just beautiful.
It's way more convient to play right at home, but nothing can beat the authentic crisp arcade expierience.

I got this game when it first launched on the Dreamcast. Endless hours with me and my friends on this game. We unlocked all the characters within a few days. I still got my copy and will remain my holy grail of my game collection.
Just give is this game on PS4, Xbox One and Switch in HD and I'll forgive you for Infinite, Capcom. Will never forget though.
The only thing that sucks though is how Wolverine plays and the fact that none of the characters have their own themes anymore or any reprising themes to help hype them up when they're on stage. But other than those flaws this is still a masterpiece of a fighting game

The only reason this game has that insane roster is because Capcom was losing the rights and they were like "fuck it, just throw every single sprite we have in there".
MvC1 still the best one, but this one is LEGENDARY, despite being broken, and that it can become plain boring with people that abuse the assists (I have to agree with Max, MvC1 had the right idea having them limited).

Fun fact. That picture of spiderman and sakukura is bound to console realeses. Originally it was Morrigan in there. For some reason in the console release Morrigan and sakura switch places as regular character and unlockable character.
