I like to consider the game these days as the "Smash Ultimate" of the Marvel Games, brings back everyone from the past Marvel VS games (minus one), adds more faces that would become iconic to the series aswell, and is overall a very beloved game
Who's missing? Is it Cyber Akuma? I'm rattlin my brain here.
In retrospect, out of the entire roster, two Wolverines weren't really needed at all.
For me it was mortal kombat trilogy.

This was basically an inverted Boss Rage. A Ladder Rage, the boss is a pushover but getting to him is hell.
I think KI 2013 was the same thing.

spider man, cyclops, ryu and captain america were chillaxing HARD at the end. great outro lining up characters with similar personas who seem like they would vibe together.

I have never seen the 1P mode of this game and I kinda freaked out when I saw the score go into the millions and even billions! It's like someone from Takumi designed the scoring system for this game!
This entire GAME's design screams "Fuck it." and we should all be all for it.
I used to beat this game everyday before school back in the day on ps2 to get points and unlock everything. Good times, man.

Yeah, I remember the boss being fairly easy depending on what characters were on your team. Certain moves would just keep you safe and transition boss phases way better than others.
I always used Venom/Cyclops/Adamantium Wolverine in the days when I knew zero about how to actually play fighters. Hyper Combo chains were fun and theirs were easy big damage.
I'm a noob but Abyss is still easy to me. My team is Sabretooth/Blackheart/Spiral, Sabretooth destroys 1st Form Abyss, Spiral just throws swords at 2nd Form, and Blackheart just melts 3rd Form with his supers.
Ken, imo, is is vastly Underrated in this game. He’s one of my “Mains” and a consistent game changer.

@@Salty-Josh I think its due to the start up and end lag some of his moves and supers have. The delay gives just enough time for good players to react with a block or worse, crossup counter.

He has one of the best assists in the game, but very little tools other than that beyond the bugged air tatsu.
@@Salty-Josh Also there are a huge number of shoto characters in MvC2. Ryu, America, Spider, Cyclops, Morgan, Iron man and Sakura. Out of them, Ken just gets lost in the shuffle. His assist is solid, and the rest doesn't really stand out. Actually, if you go with the meta for MvC2 the shoto characters aren't used because they don't build meter fast, they don't do lots of chip damage, and they can't safely avoid fighting for an entire round while building meter and chipping their opponents.
Justin Wong's 7 point tier system really revitalized interest in MvC2. Without it you see an endless parade of about 5 characters and it gets real boring real fast. With it, Ken is actually super popular because he is ranked low and his assist is solid.

I found the Dreamcast version far easier to complete, had always thought I was alone in completely failing on ps2

Ya pick a funky Justin Team and the game gives you Funky Justin Rules, broken game physics and crazy time outs.
Obviously that huge amingo tag super combo was a hype as moment. But I think the kind of thing that is so unreal about marvel and sets it apart from other fighting games is moments like @20:12 . This is 8 hit combo absolutely drags his opponent across the screen and against walls. For people who don't know fighting games, when they can see something this cool looking, and is this straight forward to understand, it will draw people in. Wish we could get more of this

Yeah, just emulate them. You can only buy these games used, they're not cheap and Capcom won't see a dime of that. Besides, at this point, even toasters can emulate Dreamcast.

As famous as MVC2 is, I don’t know if “New Age of Heroes” is the best subtitle for it, considering it’s a Dream Match game.
I think it refers to like, how the "main characters" are all newcomers, both figuratively in Cable's new sprite, and literally in Ruby, Amingo and SonSon not even existing before.
And several characters are definitely NOT heroes
I kinda always thought it was referring to this being the first Marvel vs. Capcom of the _New Millennium_ (seeing as it was released in arcades in 2000)...
I think this is the first time I've ever seen the end of an Arcade run in MvC2. Crazy

Ah i love MVC2 my team up character is ken charlie and war machine most victory beating games and I got PS2.
If this game gets re-released I hope they include a bunch of crazy upscaling options, like high res background rendering and AI sprite upscaling, but also the option to turn each thing off and play in the original 480p game but with simple integer scale.

The AI blocked everything in this game if you have it on difficulty level 4 and up. I always thought arcade mode was boring cause of it. However, you can break the AI's guard by forcing it to block low, and then follow up with an aerial heavy normal while they're still in low guarding state.
@Matthew Herman If the AI reads your inputs like that, cheese is well deserved.
The boss in mv2 is just easy with first face close or range combat second range combat and final block and opening

This game is OK, I mean you can certainly Triple Jill All The Way on PS3 which is nice but there aren't as many good characters as UMVC3 and it isn't as difficult to win on ranked. However, I will still turn it on from time to time to Roll up. Good channel.

Definitely for Cable, but some characters really struggle.
They can just make his 1st form able to block and jump, 2nd form to be like iceman and 3rd to be like venom size to be playable.

Honestly, Amingo seems more like he should be a Red Earth character than a Darkstalkers one, unless he's supposed to be related to Dia de los Muertos or inspired by the same thing as the Pokémon Cacturne or something. Ruby Heart looks like she could be either DS or Red Earth.
Anyway, all this game missed was character themes. Sure, it's broken and not intended to be competitive, but who the F should care when you can do so much anyway and indulge in its personality?
My fav team to go against abyss with is team clockwork cause you get him in hit stun for like 15 seconds and then he dies

Hold on, I thought the last phase of Abyss was fighting it in its sphere form. Am I thinking of a different game or have I Mandela Effected myself?
You're probably thinking of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, where the Final Boss I believe was the antagonist from Okami. (Assuming you're a Capcom fan)
No you're not imagining it. Abyss's actual form is the huge black sphere inside the slime monster. It appears sporadically in the third fight during the times the slime doesn't cover it and you can hit it to damage it.
