So a happy birthday is when you kill two team members...a merry Christmas is when you kill the whole team...then what’s the term for killing an entire roster? Happy rapture?
I know. Like, if you look at the marvel roster, you can easily see that there was a bias towards the MCU. All of the marvel characters in this game mostly consisted of those seen in the MCU. The only two marvel characters in the game that have yet to be in the MCU are Ghost Rider and Nova. Sucks we couldn’t get more underused ones like Squirrel Girl or some X men
And the first two MVC games gave preference to the X men and they were the ones given more attention. But to be honest, even if it was a MCU adversitement, they had no excuse to make it bad. MCU could had given them still posibilities and from present or future movies they had posibilities like Loki, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Yondu, Ego, Hela, and many other ones. But they lacked potential to make things right....this is not the first game but a fourth one in a crossover, they had no excuse to be so incompetent.
Yes that's what it seems like marvel is today. Just MCU everything like it didn't exist before Disney bought it or even before the MCU was even thought of. Lol it really is sad.
That's all this shit is anymore They literally changed the model for Peter Parker in Insomniacs Spider Man game like a year after it was out to look more like Tom Holland.
That bs functions statement still makes me mad. I feel like my intelligence is being insulted. I dont pick magneto because of his move set, I pick magneto because he's fricken magneto
That, and more casual players of the game don't pick characters with stuff like this in mind. You think my X-23, Ghost Rider, Wesker team was picked because I studied their move sets and how their assists function in the team for each character? Nope. X-23 is hot, Ghost Rider is badass and one of my favorite comic book characters, and Wesker is one of my favorite villains in all of video games. It was just happenstance that X-23 is super aggressive, Ghost Rider had cool attacks and crazy resets, and Wesker on anchor was one of the most terrifying comeback characters in the game.

The most depressing thing about this is that Capcom and Marvel would prefer to let that ship sink instead of trying to fix it and relaunch the brand in full force.

There are characters I would love to see in a Marvel vs. game. For example, I would love to see some of my favorite Darkstalkers characters like Jon Talbain finally make a playable appearance since until now, they've only teased him in other cross over games. Seriously, so many games, you'd see him in the background, one time he was directly involved in an ending sequence for Ryu in a game, and in MVC3, he was a costume for Amaterasu. ...Oh hell, Capcom, Make a new Darkstalkers game already. Those were great, damn it.
You know.....Marvel vs Capcom could had really branched out and taken advantage of the cosmi or paranormal side as a way to give the Darkstalkers side a chance to shine once more and test the characters. An opportunity to both take advantage of a limit and resurrect a dormant IP.......missed shot.

You know. Despite the controversy, the graphics, the story mode, the roster. I would forgiven it all if it wasn’t for the fact the music made it such a bore. Half the reason I love or play Capcom games in general is for the music, and Marvel Vs Capcom has some of my favorite character theme music in fighting game history and they scrapped it for shitty remixes and MCU style theatrical score style yawn fest.
joshua frazier THIS. It always surprised me that almost nobody mentiobed how MEDIOCRE the music in this game is. Just like you, I find it the most offensive thing in the game.
If they really wanted to make the music more like the MCU, they should've just made orchestral versions of the characters themes from the previous games instead of creating all-new themes for the Marvel characters.
I actually didn’t notice the music, which I guess just proves your point. To be fair, I’m usually too focused on playing to notice music anyway, but if it’s on the level of Doom or Streets of Rage it’ll stand out to me.
the music tracks *on their own* aren’t that bad, imo, but when you put them side by side, they all sound almost exactly the same. as much as i love the MCU, i prefer the traditional approach to characters’ theme tracks, where they try to *represent the characters and not just the movies* .

Oh boy.......I'm sure the real downfall was the lack of ring outs in that one. Sony had something. They have enough IPs to make it work. But they insisted on being different from Smash Bros and it costed them. That and 2 Coles and Donte. Yeah, real shame there but I still play it.
Seeing Ryu and Nina at 0:35 makes me sad that Capcom will likely never return to that world. Breath of Fire was one of my first JRPGs and I loved it, and Dragon Quarter and 6 were the last games we ever got... :(
For me, my "Oh screw you!" moment with this launch was when Sigma was day 1 DLC in a pack for a stupid high amount...like like MvC3's day 1 DLC. When a character I wanted was in there it was the tear point. I didn't even know about the internal struggles or the EVO stuff. Bloody hell that was a massive misfire.
Ahh, how far MVC had fallen. For the longest time it set a high standard for the most insane and varied fighting game crossover... until Smash Ultimate arguably surpassed it. I know stumblebee already made an excellent video on Infinite but I’m glad it got the Wha Happun treatment. Speaking of fighters, what about PS All Stars Battle Royale as a future episode? Not sure if it had development issues outside of creative choices and PR. And since DBFZ was obviously brought up, what about DB Evolution? It is tailor made to be covered here.
No one wants to remember DB:E...it's why we got DB Super. It left such a bad taste in Toriyama's mouth he wanted to continue but the story was picked up without an existing manga made (sound familiar Game of Thrones fans?) while Toriyataro penned out the manga in the meantime. DBS was a mediocre continuation that devolved into shit, retcons to sell more toys, and the only really good things that came from it was DB Fighterz -and pics of the U9 cast- btw, I can tell you now Dragonball Super from the Zamasu arc to the Tournament of Power is a copy/rehash of Kinnikuman's Perfect Numbers arc and Scramble for the Throne arc respectively. Why would a wrestling series from the 80s have relevance to now? This considering the sequel series Ultimate Muscle was in the early to mid 2000s? Because, it was in 2011 there was a CONTINUATION of the ORIGINAL Kinnikuman story leading to the Perfect Numbers arc (a continuation after Scramble Throne arc), which has similar plot points the Zamasu arc has with the whole god wanting to wipe out mortals due to the non-MC character but also has a hate for MC because of their power. The tournament arcs groups arranged in teams where punishments of erasing the losers from existence for a series where death isn't permanent for a character happens. Someone else, I believe YuriofWind, did a review of the DB:Evolution fighting game on PSP/Vita(?). It's pretty ok...plays like a Budokai game, so that's something. The one ok thing that ever came from that movie.
I believe Dragon Ball Evolution was part of the list on one of Matt's pateron polls, but MVCI got the most vote. But yeah, I hope DBE gets the Wha Happun treatment because man... there is A LOT about that movie.
@singularon1 Idk, unless Mario gets to fight Goku one day in Smash, there's still some novelty left on the premise of MVC. But hey, I wasn't exactly around during MVC's heydays...
MvCI has given me the weirdest experience I have ever had with a newly released game. Bought it a few days after release, played through the story, polished up in training/arcade mode and went online. Me as a European, has NEVER found an online match. Not even during normal game peak times. I basically bought this game for its story mode if you think about it. I felt like a fool.
There was also the whole PR fiasco where pro players were essentially told to promote the game or get "left behind" when it came to getting invites to events.
I was expecting some footage from the "Capcom Cup" with the stones bull***, like stone that give you 1 free combo or let you choose the bracket... Thanks for spare this pain...
I get the feeling there should have been, and would have been, more DLC characters available. Four of the DLC were Marvel and only two were Capcom. You'd think it'd be balanced out so both sides were equal....guess we'll never know.
Id love to see a Wha Happun about Fable: The Journey, that Fable Kinect game!! I tried a demo at PAX at the height of the "ITS NOT ON RAILS" (even though it was?) controversy and BOY was the demo guy aggressive about that! Hold on, I've seen that before...
_TH-cam flashback starts_
So a happy birthday is when you kill two team members...a merry Christmas is when you kill the whole team...then what’s the term for killing an entire roster? Happy rapture?
Honestly, this whole game just feels like an advertisement for the MCU movies. And that's just plain sad...
Lol it really is sad.
hmm ues because the other Marveknfighting games was advertisement of the xmen animated series learn the obvious.
That's all this shit is anymore
They literally changed the model for Peter Parker in Insomniacs Spider Man game like a year after it was out to look more like Tom Holland.
That bs functions statement still makes me mad. I feel like my intelligence is being insulted. I dont pick magneto because of his move set, I pick magneto because he's fricken magneto
It doesn’t even take half a brain cell well versed in pro fighting game knowledge to see that statement has more holes than I fine swiss cheese
@@metalfreekz13 I always had 3 teams set up for MvC3. My Capcom team which was my RE team. RE is my favorite franchise. Marvel was, Deadpool, Spidey, and Captian Punisher. And team 3 was a mixed bag. All because of these being my favs. Not there move sets.
Tenchu fatal shadows had a similar situation... "Hey, you like rikimaru because he is strong and has a sword imstead of 2 daggers right? Sure... Have this cute girl who is strong and has a sword instead"

The saddest part is, if they just waited a little while longer, when Marvel would basically have everything for the newer games... MVC Infinite could've had a really cool storyline involving X-Men characters and MCU characters side by side just matter of fact
Don't doubt it was actually Marvel's plan to release it before the acquisition of Fox as yet another one of their unethical predatory business practices to devaluate the XMen and F4 brands, as they had already done with the comics for example, their mistake was understimating FG fans as being as dumb and complacient as MCU fans

I know right? I would totally be down for another game.

I didn't know Max was in Guinness. Huh. Neat. I mean I can see why he's the most subbed fighting game channel. I don't even play fighting games outside of absolutely sucking at Smash, but his personality still made them entertaining and interesting enough for me to sub to him.

Seeing the controversy surrounding spiderman in that avengers game....not so crazy anymore.
I get that Capcom were put in a tough spot when having to give a reason why certain Marvel characters weren't in the game, but that BS "function" garbage excuse was what finally convinced me to completely ignore this game.
Me too. Combofiend so could have done that much better, like saying that they were working with Marvel to get some cool characters into the mix. He only focused too much on the professional side of things, and failed to remember a crossover game is about who you get from the IP's. It didn't help Capcom didn't have much of a budget to go on for MVCI as well as Disney and Marvel not wanting to play ball to help them. So there's just that feeling that *NOBODY* cared about MVCI at all. Just using it as a means to shill money.
@@GiordanDiodato well considering how poorly the game did and with the lack of any news of a new entry, that's essentially what's happening anyway no?

@@oh-not-the-bees7872 I'm curious if you noticed that his comic picture had tits at that very moment.
@@oh-not-the-bees7872 Did you not see the picture? 😑
At least we'll always have Mugen...
WE'RE BACK BABY
WERE SOOO BACK
Not really, until when they finally announce MVC4 I'll give a pass
2:53 okay, it’s clear someone hates cyclops
Everyone?
He's the pretty boy who married the red head girl that every dude loved.

I so want a Darkstalkers remake...
3rd Strike Announcer: "Aww Yeah! I've been waiting for this!"
There was also the whole PR fiasco where pro players were essentially told to promote the game or get "left behind" when it came to getting invites to events.
Ah yes, my favourite character with a rich background, monsterhunter.
I was expecting some footage from the "Capcom Cup" with the stones bull***, like stone that give you 1 free combo or let you choose the bracket...
Thanks for spare this pain...
I knew it! I knew the reason the roster seemed boring was because of Disney Marvel!
@@paulakroy2635 no blame marvel for this ,capcom tried to save the game and care for it but marvel didnt care for it at all
Nah...Capcom didnt do much with their half either (Even tough i liked that X, Sigma were included).
ITS MAHVEL BABY
I love Capcom, I'm super happy they came back ( Dmc, Re Mhworld etc.) But damn did they screw up MvcI
Chun-Li looks like she's wearing a Halloween mask of herself. Reminds me of Booji Boy.
I get the feeling there should have been, and would have been, more DLC characters available. Four of the DLC were Marvel and only two were Capcom. You'd think it'd be balanced out so both sides were equal....guess we'll never know.
Honestly though Capcom did need better characters than what the game delivered
MvC2 had everybody in a game before it was cool.
And it still is one of the best fighting games.
The original "Everybody's Here!"...
"No one will notice."
Dude, have you ever used the Internet.
Id love to see a Wha Happun about Fable: The Journey, that Fable Kinect game!!
I tried a demo at PAX at the height of the "ITS NOT ON RAILS" (even though it was?) controversy and BOY was the demo guy aggressive about that! It was so buggy i was unable to get anything to work and he angrily said i was doing it wrong, stepping into try and failing himself to get any of his movements to register. Im so curious what was happening behind the scenes with that game!!
Speaking of, how about a Wha Happun on the Fantastic 4 film? I'd like to know what happened with its production.
The biggest crime this game committed wasn’t the graphics, the roster, or the removal of the X-Men, it was the music.
Was it on the level of infamous fail trumpets of RE1:Director's Cut:DualShock Mansion Basement track?
Wait, it had music?
King Bash Yeah aside from the Character Select theme which is my personal fav in the series, the remixes were pretty awful.
The Darkstalkers themes were okay. Kinda weird but an interesting direction, especially with Jedah’s theme.
There were a few good songs in there. I kinda liked Doctor Strange's new theme, but all the other returning Marvel characters should've kept their original themes. Especially Captain America and Spider-Man.
Tripping down the sad memory lane of my favorite game that betrayed me, I miss my old Cap, Spidey, and Wolvie team, and my Cable, Iceman, and Cyclops team against Abyss from MVC2
7 YEARS LATER WE ARE BACK! MVC COLLECTION BABY!
Matt + Maximillian = Top 10 Anime Crossovers
Not relevant to your comment, but your taste in music is impeccable.
Roughly two years since this video went online and Capcom still hasn't budged on making an All-Capcom fighting game. Instead, we got fucking Teppen.
They should've made a new IP and called it Avengers vs. Capcom
Fans could justify there being no Marvel characters and it would push the Avengers movies
Win, Win
Exactly!
Working it as a spinoff and they could even had used it to exploit or take advantage of dormant ips
I did like the idea of the X saga in megaman having more involvement since it had Ultron....BOOM
But..both companeis were too stubborn to understand.
Damn Marvel has massive egos and too much power
The PG-13 Deadpool was to prove to Disney and marvel they could do a PG-13 version in case Disney wouldn’t release a R film.
"It's a journey into mystery itself..."
I see what you did there, nice reference. Captain Duty would be proud
Infinite would have thrived in a vacuum. That's a good point Mr. McMuscles.
