Goodness, the amount of frames Juggernaut does not have is hilarious.
Akuma and Wolverine. Just think of those super long emotionally charged conversations those two are not having because they spend most of the time scowling at and fighting things.
I love how Shinryuken looks way more badass and destructive in this 2D iteration of the SF series than in SFV.

I died when cyclops threw his jacket and it didnt even animate loool.. I had the Japanese Saturn version.. you had to boot it up with a Japanese converter cartridge, then during the loading you had like a 2 second window to swap in the RAM cart.. had a ton of fighters on Saturn

The PSone ports of the "vs" games was just trash.
But watching this, I don't think I remember the game looking so bad.
This is evidence why we need a collection on PS4 with (at least):
- X-men vs. Street Fighter
- Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
- Marvel vs. Capcom
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2
- Capcom vs. SNK Pro

You talk about a game that disappointed me as a kid, here we go. I was absolutely in love with the arcade version, it was mind blowing at the time to see the X men and Street Fighters go at it and i had never seen a tag team fighter before. I waited a long time for a home port and we finally got one two years later in 1998...and THIS was it, sigh. Tons of frames of animation missing, slowdown, and worst of all NO tag teams.
Ah the original Vs. game. I absolutely loved this game in the arcades. I have a Saturn now with a burned copy of this game and I still play it often. Good times!
There is a tag mode in ps1 version. It's a code you had to put that could only be played in Vs mode and it was a mirror match. For example P1 would pick Ken and Ryu, and P2 would pick Ryu and Ken and that would be the tag match. It wasn't the best, but it made the game a whole lot better when playing with your friends.

Capcom needs to make another Compilation Game of the Vs series starting with Children of the Atom onward. Preferably the Arcade Versions of each game. And release them on Modern Systems. They did it with the 30th Anniversary Collection the Vs series shouldn’t be a problem.

Hopefully they do and they should also add Super Puzzle Fighter and Super Gem Fighter as well
They just need to add it to the Switch. Instant money maker right there.

The PS1 was actually more powerful than the arcade. The problem was the CD storage was too slow and there was not enough Ram to hold the data. (The Saturn runs perfectly with the 4Mb memory add on). If the PS1 was a cartridge system it would have run this perfectly.

Even with the lack of tag system and degraded graphics, I loved playing the PS1 version growing up. Yeah, it doesn't hold a candle to the arcade original but good memories were made.
I have the same feelings for the PS1 version of Marvel Super Heroes.

@@Sanjixoxo I will agree with you here. There's a time and place for nostalgia but when something's inferior it just is.
For many of us, of a certain age, there was a time you simply didn't see video games staring your favorite heroes, at least not any worth playing. This is, at its heart, a Capcom fighting game, after all.

This is not the best the PS1 could've done! Marvel vs Capcom and MSH vs SF are much better ports overall.

@@sankyubi1786 Well blame Sony or whoever thought this was a good idea. Lack of RAM or whatever is what caused this 1v1, long time loading for 1998 standards, and lame temporary 2v2 battle system. Maybe they tried but limitations. Too bad the Saturn versions were Japan exclusive...
@@sankyubi1786 It's a tad shitty, yeah, but even the really good PS1 ports of Capcom fighting games (Namely Street Fighter Alpha 3) had that limitation. Though the rest of this port is undeniably painful.

Back when this came out I actually got this game 3 days before official release at a mom and pop store. Unfortunately I was on vacation and had to wait a week 2 get home 2 actually play it.

This game was classic i remember playing this game so much at the flea market they had a arcade place and this game was packed people trying to always show their skills. Can't believe max dood is so good with Ken lol.

Wow this brings back so many good memories 😁 I live in the UK and I managed to get a Japanese copy of this game for the Sega Saturn. I also had my Saturn converted to be able to PAL and NTSC games. Spent many a Friday and Saturday night playing this all night with my friends, love this game 👍🏾

This was one of my favorite games growing up especially this version since you could cancel supers into other supers. Could do 100% combos with sabertooth

Anyway this game sort of ...changed my life lol, opened me up to comics, games, actually got me through a ton of lonlier, depressing moments!
Started out with SFII. Then I was all about mortal KOMBAT 1,2,3 ... Then the arcade version of this game brought me back and it's still my favorite fighting game ever!

In case anyone is watching this in early 2020; X-Men vs Street Fighter is on fightcade. And it's the full arcade version as far as I know. I haven't checked it out. (yet)

I imported the Japanese version for Saturn (it came with the cart in the box). It's a very bare bones reproduction of the arcade but that was enough for me back then. Nothing like that had ever been seen at home. Hard to get that across, it was like a miracle seeing it on my TV.
Something good with this version is that you can actually cancel special moves into hyper combos, and you can even cancel hyper combos into another hyper combos, example, if you had 3 bars with gambit you could perform 3 royal flush hyper in the same combo, 99 hits, and it deal like 90% of damage
One of the first titles I've played on arcade. It aged pretty well after all these years.
No joke but I feel like Cyclops really is an underrated fighter in the MVC series. Just imagine the potential he can use with his melee and range combo attacks like his gene splice
I remember when my dad coming home from work and he bring me PSX with 2 game, one is Batman Beyond and Xmen vs SF... I know this is a poor port from arcade but it's still be my first game, the first vs game I've ever played

In Kens ending I'm pretty sure he's playing on a Super Nintendo with third party turbo controllers with all the extra buttons no one needed.

There is a code you input on the title screen for the secret menu to enable tag mode. But both 1p and 2p need to choose the same characters

you could've picked up the Saturn version and the ROM expansion pak. those two together made this game near arcade-perfect.
When I first got my PS1, I got this game and Bubsy 3D. This was also the first and only fighting game I played of that generation.
I want to point out that before this game, I had only played SF2 and Fatal Fury on Genesis, and I didn't like it because the game was "too fast."

X men vs Street Fighter was a fun game. I only played it once in an arcade at my local movie theatre. My FAVORITE Marvel-Capcom crossover is MARVEL SUPER HEROES vs STREER FIGHTER.
