Completely agree man. At 35 I still get stoked for new releases and at times have stayed up until midnight to download and play whatever new game it is whilst debating if I take a day of vacation the following day while at the same time making a mental pros and cons list of any current project deadlines I have to meet and how a day of vacation will impact them. What a simpler time, “Oh a new game is out?” *Proceeds to stay up until 4am, sleep until noon and than proceed with my day with no consequences*. Weekends as a kid were life.
I have one singular memory of that ECW game. I was playing my cousin, I hit them in the head with the toilet seat, they died. We went from full health to one hit and they lost all health, fell unresponsive to the ground and the match instantly ended in a hardcore match. It has a soft spot just for that memory.
I reviewed three of these for the Official US PlayStation Magazine-ATV, Duke and MK Special Forces. Kind of disappointing to see no representation on Metacritic, but they were pretty much in line with the scores. Fun fact: Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes was originally known as Planet of the Babes-until Fox stepped in and threatened to sue.
I don't remember Land Of The Babes being too awful. Granted, I was a perpetually stoned teenager and very easily pleased back then. *Sigh* The good old days.
For the time it was okay I remember it being really hard with long levels and if you die you have to restart the whole level again. The n64 version which had a different story was better from what I remember the controls were a lot more responsive.
I remember having a sleepover when i was like ten on the 2000 new years and we filled up a bunch of water bottles incase Mr. Y2k cut off our water supply
I was coerced into purchasing ATV Quad Power Racing from Fry's Electronics as a kid after trying out a demo for ATV Offroad Fury 2 at the kiosk and being told Quad Power was "the exact same game". I may have been the only person who walked out of Fry's with a copy of that game.

I remember picking up Land of the Babes for $10, maybe 2-3 months after it came out. It was just the disc (with some scratches) and a blank case. Even the clerk was surprised (or maybe feigned being surprised?) it was being sold for that price. I didn't find it a good game but for what I paid for, I almost feel like I got my money's worth.
The 'bronze age' of gaming? Who calls it that? The PS2 currently remains the best selling games console of all time, and a glut of critically acclaimed and all time classic titles came out on all platforms. Even the ill-fated Dreamcast had some all-time greats.

Also, Land of the Babes is a sequel to another Duke Nukem game for the PlayStation, Time to Kill. That game is basically an old-school Tomb Raider-like third person shooter with tons of secrets in every level and kickass weapons. It has some clunky aspects to its gameplay but if you're even slightly curious from my description then be sure to try it out! I still play it every now and then.
In 2000 I was still playing my dad's Premier Manager 98 on his PS1 and didn't have a console of my own. There are ups and downs of having a gaming parent.
I also remember Land of the Babes fondly, but I preferred Time to Kill more. Time to Kill had some pretty fun weapons. I can't remember the weapons in Land of the Babes.
Time to Kill is a ton of fun. It has its share of clunky gameplay flaws but I still enjoy it to this day. I don't know about Land of Babes though, I only beat it once back in the day, I might have to try it again soon.
I liked LotB too. It might not be what Duke 3d fans like me wanted at the time, but it was a decent action platformer and I have actually been thinking about replaying it again.
I was hoping to see Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue for the Nintendo 64. It has a Metacritic rating of only 25%. It was obviously rushed out before the finale on Fox Kids.

For better or for worse I don't think Duke Nukem: Land Of The Babes and Resident Evil: Survivor are really that bad of games. The graphics have not aged well, but Duke Nukem is always great. It's also so in his character for a planet full of nothing but women send a few babes back to bring him to the future to save the world. Also to repopulate, that joke always stood out to me. Also the music in that intro in the bar, damned that music in the intro. Resident Evil on the other hand wasn't great, but added some to the lore of Resident Evil. I appreciate that.

Resident Evil Survivor is awesome, one of the most impressive looking ps1 games, truly underrated gem, it may be clunky, but that is the case with most similar games of the era. Its an absolute technical marvel on the ps1... And its fun if you actually play it for more than the 30 second intro

That Nokia you showed wasn't the primary model in 2000 but a few years later. I got my first cell phone in 2000 for my 16th birthday, and everybody had the Nokia with the interchangable faceplates that were longer and skinnier than the one you showed. THAT one was the one I had my sophomore year of college. The only reason I quibble over that is because _those faceplates were badass_ back then. There were entire kiosks in the mall that only sold Nokia faceplates because they didn't need cases yet! 😗

So back in the day I was a skater and my friends and I got some sick tickets to go skate with Andy Mcdonald and a few other pros. We then got to eat with Andy. And I specifically asked him why he wasn't in Tony Hawks Pro Skater and he told me that it was because he signed a game contract that wouldn't allow him to be in THPS...he then told me signing that contract was a mistake and his game coming out, wasn't gonna be worth it lol. But I loved Andy Macdonald so I got the game just to support him lol.
Andy Macdonald and Tony Hawk were actually vert doubles partners and X-game champions for a long time. I forgot this game existed and I never played it but the worst part about it, for me, was that because of it you couldn't play as Macdonald in Tony Hawk.
I love Duke Land of the babes and Time to Kill. Beat it so many times. Loved the cheats. Not that bad of games. I was a child but I have such fond memories of them.
I can't defend Land of the Babes since I haven't played it in years but I can at least say it has one of the best endings ever (If you're a dude who's into women that is). RE - Survivor has a special place in my heart. It's bad. Yes. But I like the visuals, the hilarious voice acting and animations, the incredibly stupid writing. It's the kind of bad that I can genuinely like. The classic RE2 mod by Aydan that is based on Survivor, having the fixed camera angles, limited ammo, and challenging gameplay on the other hand is pretty damn fun. I liked the demo.

Peter does the best job by leaps and bounds narrorating these videos. I love Duke Land of the babes and Time to Kill. Beat it so many times. Loved the cheats. Not that bad of games. I was a child but I have such fond memories of them.

I can't defend Land of the Babes since I haven't played it in years but I can at least say it has one of the best endings ever (If you're a dude who's into women that is). I still remember the grin it gave me all those years ago.

RE - Survivor has a special place in my heart. It's bad. Yes. But I like the visuals, the hilarious voice acting and animations, the incredibly stupid writing. It's the kind of bad that I can genuinely like.
The classic RE2 mod by Aydan that is based on Survivor, having the fixed camera angles, limited ammo, and challenging gameplay on the other hand is pretty damn fun. I liked the demo.

Peter does the best job by leaps and bounds narrorating these videos. I feel like he actually knows what he's talking about, unlike some of the other vids of the worst games, where you have someone not even born when the games came out talking about them sounding like theyre just reading off of a sheet of paper with no real interest in what they're speaking about. Just honest opinion here mates! All love.
