    When visiting car parks with this type of barrier system, make sure to bring a bike in the back of your car for free parking!

    When I was a child we did this at the airport (expensive parking!) and sold the tickets we got with our bikes to people in the queue who presumably had a whole holiday worth of parking to pay. Of course, staff eventually caught on.

      Have a bike in the car. Then use the bike to collect the ticket, then drive out using that ticket in les than 5 mins and it is free.

    What I would like to know is if you paid the £6 could you then exit with the same ticket after like 8 hours. Ive always wondered if the system is intelligent enough to this or if its just "activated" and thats it.

    I think it's a law that they can't charge for 10 minutes or so?
    Whatever the case under law you need to be able to read their contract and reject it without paying. It would take me about an hour to read and understand an NCP contract....

    Ok, so here's the trick:
    - Park your car for however long you want
    - When you're ready to leave, run down to the entrance barrier and get a new ticket
    - Use this new ticket to exit

    1. 0:01 Why are there two ticket dispensers at the entrance next to each other?
    2. 0:06 How do you so easily trigger the loop with your bike? Every time I try that with my bike, I have to make weird maneuvers on the loop to trigger it, much like you had to do at the exit gate ticket reader.

      as someone who worked with 4 large car parks with the same shitty system, let me explain what is likely the reason.
      1) If one goes out of service, they are able to use the other one instead. This way it means they are able to continue operating the car park for revenue.
      2) The sensor will detect anything over it, but will need to also detect something over multiple parts of the sensor hence the ability to detect the different between a human and a car. There are many possible reasons as to why the sensor activated in his instance but to name a few: the sensor has a very short loop which is normally the case for car parks that accept motorcycles, incorrect configuration of inputs so you don’t need to be over a certain amount of points in the loop for it to activate, shorted circuitry etc. The list is endless but this is normally the most common reasons.

    • @asclepi
      @asclepi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@no-kd7vf Interesting, thanks. I did suspect redundancy to be the reason for having two ticket dispensers; however, I wasn't sure as I would then expect other garages to have this setup, but I've never encountered more than one ticket dispenser except for multiple entrance lanes. Maybe this is a UK (or London) thing, or this car park is just really prepared.

      @@asclepi the machines cost thousands of pounds, then the cost of fitting and connecting it up is very uneconomical. two machines in one lane is not common indeed, but NCP rip you off so can afford it
