They did this as i fell into the lift a few years ago and damaged my back, the lifts where a ft lower than they should have been. They got condemned and remained locked due to lack of funding to buy new ones. They have since been replaced.
I did actually manage to make a U key from a steel tube that I bought at a hardware store. It took quite a bit of adjustment to get it to fit through the U shaped hole of the lift but it finally works. BTW "french" U keys are different than UK U keys. The fun thing is that in France, only some Otis doors have U keys. (They're literally called "Orly doors" by the way).
One of my local lifts uses a U key although the hole the key goes in had been smashed up so I was able to stick a literal stick in the hole and open the doors
Mild steel would have probably been a better choice for the tube you made the key out of - aluminum is too soft and liable to break. Seeing as you don't have access to a vice, you would probably have a job cutting it though.
I just bought myself a u key off ultimate security devices along with a fow other keys I will need to see if it works on a schindler at my local book store
Be careful, don't get yourself into trouble for these elevators. Otherwise might caught be busted! You have to take a full responsibly for this elevator to ride it. Hope see that works, if there happen for these elevators are active isn't??? What a find this elevators video!
I've seen that quite a lot of places have iưng keys, so called because they look like the calligraphic version of the Hangul letter iưng (goo.gl/x2VwH3). This key has a circle & a line on one side pointing towards the name of the option that has been selected.
Some of you may already know this, but Anjasomc flimed these elevators when they were working and before the 2 right elevators were boarded up. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/AUF6glFTpjQ/w-d-xo.html
4:15 - They heard Beno is coming... So they put 3 different padlocks on the motor room :D. By the way, steel is much stronger than aluminium.
Oh hello there!
Lol

@@akyraisconfused hi
It's a pity to see one of the lifts unable to open it's doors (all of the lifts have sadly being replaced)
I love your enthusiasm 😀👍
In France, we use U keys on old some Otis Prelexan landing doors, we call them "clé demi-lune" (Half moon key)

O really?
Yeah !
(I'm a lift surfer too !)
One of my local lifts uses a U key although the hole the key goes in had been smashed up so I was able to stick a literal stick in the hole and open the doors
i used to ride these lifts as a kid in the mid 80s - it used to be sainsburies.

I have seen these on ebay. Can they not be sold over there?
***** U keys are just hard to get hold off. Nobody is selling them over here.
One place in Singapore(Clifford centre) has Otis lifts and they use U key
Did the car park lifts got modernised?
I think it was a full replacement.
These elevators look like they are vintage, notice how there is only 1 call button on each floor. This means that the controller is probably original.
Can you have just gotten the metal tube from a home improvement store?
This is an old video. I have got every key I need nowadays

Awwwwwww shame the key bent, hopefully all is not lost!! Maybe there is a way to harden the key?
These have now had a lester mod by Pickerings

Did they finally put new lifts at this car park or not ?
make a key out of another metal like iron or steel aluminium is too soft
That's good
I saw a Otis with a U key at a office block
Ben since you got a real U-KEY, can you come back here and review these lifts? Maybe you can see the other 2 lifts that boarded up in the shaft.
I have and they are not really worth filming. The lifts are now replaced
yes
Some sources may say “Otis shaft door key” because in America, Otis used a “U” shaped key here a lot back in the day.
Steel tube works like a charm !
Do those lifts still exist ?
no
@@benolifts they do, I went there today they’ve been modded with lester now, by Pickerings

+benobve when will the lifts be modded?
Do they lifts still exist and work ?
can you buy a dewhurst lift key
This is just too funny. 🤣😂😂
Beno will a triangle key work on a eco Disc?
It might do, but a crucifix key is better. Also I don't advise anyone to go on top a lift based on what you see in my videos.
@@benolifts do you have an idea to get a crusifix key... I can't seem to find them?
Unfortunately these lifts have been replaced with horrible generics
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Did this place get demolished?
No the car park is still there in its grotty state but the lifts have been replaced

But the problem was that it was stuck.
