14:40 my advise is each time you change the impeller remove and re grease the woodruff key. If you don't and years down the track you need to change the drive shaft seals below the impeller you'll regret not having done so.
Hello Terry. Can you let me know how it went please. I just got a 2017 Yamaha 150 that just hit 100 hours. Was it easy? Anything to watch out for? Thanks.
Just a tip Replace square anodes to 69J-11301-11 round anodes, softer, better protection. much better for you F150.. 20 years working on alloy boats and engines..... try me
Suggestion.. as with a car I would recommend always loosening fill holes before opening drain holes to make certain you can refill. Yes, I’m aware that Yamaha lower units are refilled via the drain hole but you need the fill hole open to ensure you’ve refilled the lower unit correctly.
there is 3 washers on the waterpump. not giving you a hard time but i dont want ppl having extra parts and not knowing where they go or not having enough like on the waterpump in this video. there is 2 flat washers and a wavy washer that goes in between them. might want to edit this video and add a caption to the correct stuff. great job otherwise.
Very good job man! last year i serviced my 150 alone... except the impeller...and everything get excellent!!!I'm scared to change it alone...(The impeller) I will follow your steps and i will try to change it...
Awesome, thanks for watching. Hope it helps. Only word of caution is be very careful not to twist it during the first 2 in of removal otherwise you will break off the tiny plastic speedo knob... Ask me how I know LOL. Might be worthwhile just to pick one of those up before you start, they're like $2
Congratulations!, I should be making a few more videos this year, thermostat, spark plugs and any other kind of maintenance I do on the boat... I think I mentioned it in the video, but I do all my own maintenance save time, and to get the job to a higher standard. There's obviously the bonus of saving money, which in turn can be used for beer money or gas LOL
I would’ve thought you would put a bit of grease on all bolts that were removed and replaced, and the reason you don’t fill the gear case from the top hole is it gets an air lock
good video mate ,that would be the cleanest gear oil i have ever seen just a couple of points you might want to look at as i didnt see them done ,grease your gear shaft splines and also your drive shaft splines dont get any on top of either shaft also a smear of grease on the bolts will make sure they come out easy next time ,normally i would insert the steel cup into the plastic housing first but either way whichever you prefer and finally you went all the way with the waterpump and didnt replace the key not saying it wont be okay but dong a video probably should have anyway god video a tip on changing your oil use a 14mm barb fitting on a length of hose raise your engine remove plug fit hose lower your engine drain into pan .
That's a great tip on the engine, I'll definitely try that next time cuz always sucks having to clean up a little oil that spills I did use anti-seize on the foot bolts and I've changed props a couple times this season just to try to find the perfect one. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the comment
Good job. When do you grease the zerk fittings for steering linkage? And prop shaft? Maybe take off the prop before removing the lower gear case. Makes it a bit lighter. Then you can inspect prop shaft and seals for fishing line. Lube shaft.
Thanks man! Yeah I found it a little annoying that you had to watch eight different 45 minute long videos to do this, I figured it would be nice to have it all in one very condensed yet fully detailed video.
Really liked the video. Thank you so much! I am looking at buying a boat that is 2016 and has a Yamaha F150. It only has 64 hours on the engine. Do you think that low of usage would be a concern for a Yamaha F150 that is 8 years old?
It's good that you're cautious with low hours, a lot of people will use low hours to overlook a regular inspection, I've seen engines with 1500 hours look and run brand new, and I've also seen some very low hours that were just trash because they didn't properly take care of them. Just make sure that it's been properly cared for especially when stored, I fog my cylinders the last time I shut it down for the winter. Ask questions, do some stereotyping to see if it's an knowledgeable or experienced owner... about how he flushes the motor, and make sure you take it out on a sea trial. Good score though to find a good condition one was such low hours
Sort of nice video, except, if you do a lot of fresh or brackish water the square anodes don't work, did anyone noticed the big square anodes had growth on them none of them are actually corroded! All the protective work is done by the small anodes which are softer. Try the 69J-11301-11 Anode. works much better and is actually recommended by Yamaha for brackish water and protects your Yamaha much better. No more corroded Heads....
My manual says "inspect spark plugs, replace if necessary" . In addition, in fact there is a list of about 10 addition items that a listed the same way. One that is probably most debatable is the thermostat. it is listed as a replace every 100hrs or yr. some do it, many extend the interval longer. I do mine every other.
Finaly, a mechanic that vaccums debree. Good job dude
Fantastic. Clean, clear and explained without a lot of fluff.
Glad it was helpful!
Dreading doing the anodes on my F115. No idea when it was last done but you made it look easy. Gonna be trying that next week.
Just a tip Replace anodes to 69J-11301-11... much better for you F115.. 20 years working on alloy boats and engines..... try me
If you tilt motor up and take out drain plug then put pipe on it and lower it you won’t get any oil anywhere. Works great.
This was phenomenally done. Great job man.
Thanks man, just trying to help the community out.
Thank with the like button
Excellent video! The best I have seen for the 150 service.
Wow, thanks!

You don’t actually need to remove the woodruff key to change the oil seals.
Thanks! I just bought a boat with a 2018 150 and it is at the 100 hour mark. Now I know what to do!
Great informative video!
Glad it helped!

nice job, no music during video perfect
Haha, I hate when it's some cheesy dance techno blasting through an instructional video.
Thanks for watching
Absolutely amazing. Thanks. I have two 150s at 87hrs and going to reference this video. Thanks

You never mentioned to grease the splines on the drive shaft and the mounting bolts on lower unit
Very detailed instructions, sir. Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful
Great video! 3:02 Does anyone know where to buy the kit in Canada?
Excellent video! Might mention to clean out tube for speedometer sensor in lower unit.
Great tip!
Awesome information Thanks I just got my 1st used center console Boat with a 2012 Yamaha 150 Stroke

Great other than put the metal cup into the plastic housing first then slide down over the impeller. Thanks ! For sucking s good video for folks
Awesome video but dont forget to prefill the fuel\water separator with gas or you will have a hard time getting the fuel system to prime!
Great point!
Great video. I have Alfas (4C, Milano, GTV6, Spider) and a Grady with an F200.
I've been shopping for a gtv6 for several years... I really like them, maybe someday...
great job. thanks for sharing. I have twin 150's and I will do the service myself next time and save some cash.
Right on!
Awesome, thanks... assuming all these parts are the same for the F200XA?
Great video thanks for making!
Thanks man! Yeah I found it a little annoying that you had to watch eight different 45 minute long videos to do this, I figured it would be nice to have it all in one very condensed yet fully detailed video.
what about greasing the drive shaft bushing?
Do you/we have to put shift lever in gear before removal? Used to have to on omc engines.
Thanks for posting the video. Question: Why didnt you change the Thermostat? Is that because thats part of the 3 year service?
Yeah I might have the thermostat done recently, I'll probably get it next year
great vid do you have your own software to diagnose i have blinking check engine light really don't like going to dealers
this has to be the best video on a Yamaha 150 Outboard thank you so much just did my 100 hrs service and didnt change the interior anodes should I?
Super job…I have the 175 sho!!!!!
Great motor! Lucky
Would it be pretty much the same steps for a 2004 Yamaha F80 AETL?
You showed grease commit out of the top of the pilot tube, shouldn't it also come out the bottom of the tube? Thank you.
Really liked the video. Thank you so much! I am looking at buying a boat that is 2016 and has a Yamaha F150. It only has 64 hours on the engine. Do you think that low of usage would be a concern for a Yamaha F150 that is 8 years old?

no grease on shaft spline?
we could not figure out where to put the oil in
Great Video!

That is the partnumber to the Anode Cover Assy, do you have the part number to the anode itself?
Your suppose to change impeller every year?
Why not do the spark plugs for your yearly service as well?

How much did all of these parts cost you?
Check out the description for links but everything in this video was less than $300 or so.
YAMAHA F150 ANNODES

Your video is getting more exotics! Lmao
