This was a heck of a lot more useful than most Blink videos. Good job. Some information on those systems which record 24 hours a day would be wonderful as I don't think Blink is for me. Accessing the USB storage is slow .. Yes, by design.
Hi Keith! Thanks for the comment and advice. I'm actually considering that topic now. I haven't done one of these videos in a while. Hopefully, I'll remember how to do it. Lol 😆 Thanks again for watching.👍
Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa
This information helped me so much. Thank you for all your help. I’m glad I came across you on TH-cam and thank you for making this channel and this on the doorbell because I just bought it almost a month ago.
its good but you got to supply a router, and wifi to stay connected.. a trail cam is much more reliable. has its own power, own storage and phones home..
Great video without blah blah. Extremely clear & professionnal explanations. How do I connect my Blink to my cloud system? Also under Local Storage I have the message « If you don't have a cloud plan, you can opt to store your clips on the connected USB device.» I'm definitely going to keep checking your videos. Congrats & Thank You !
Hi Joanne P! Thanks for the encouragement! That means a lot. Your the best. :-) Here's a link to the Blink support page that will show you how to connect your cameras to a cloud plan: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/plan-management/purchasing-a-blink-subscription-plan-through-amazon I hope everything goes well with you.
good video! Message is concise, informative, good duration. Well done with congrats to the stagging and video crew as well as the presenter's clear speech.
Pretty good info, i added a second cam and it extended my cloud subscription another 31 days. Obviously cant keep buying cameras but based off this i dont think the subscription is entirely necessary. Just have to keep an eye for the remote viewing and ensure your storage has plenty of space or back it up OFF the thumb-drive into a HD regularly.
Thank you for the video. I must have a different version of Blink App software because I couldn't find the Sync Module on that page above Armed/Disarmed.
Yes, you can definitely add a new 3rd gen Blink camera to your existing system/account and still get free cloud storage for life. Your account is considered a legacy account. Legacy accounts are Blink accounts that were created before April 15, 2020.Jul 10, 2023
Just ordered the Blink outdoor camera 3 pack, module 2 system and the 256 USB drive and holder. I have no clue how to set this all up or anything lol I also ordered the Ring Spotlight solar camera with gutter mounts. No clue which system to use or how ro use it lol Debating on getting 2-4 cameras. I need one for the front and back yard. Front of house faces north, south side gets back sun exposure. However, I live in MI and it gets -30F in the winter and no sun. I have outlets outside. Suggestions on a brand or brands that would work for my concerns. No lag between movements, leaves blowing creating false alerts, sunlight making the camera unable to see. I'd prefer not drilling holes through my home or walls but ideally no batteries to change outside etc.
Take a look at this power adapter: www.amazon.com/Blink-Weather-Resistant-Power-Cable-Adapter/dp/B08BX9Q2W1/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=26NGFDMYHOI3H&keywords=blink+power+cable&qid=1652928424&sprefix=blink+power+cabel,aps,79&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 I would prefer this over the standard USB adapter plug. It seems more weather resistant.
Blink cameras are fine if you just want to monitor your property for traffic but Reolink cameras are far superior plus you can live monitor your cameras from remote locations. Great software and you can record to micro sd card or dvr recorder. No fees ever to remote access and also get email to notify you of activity.
If you have unstable internet, I would not recommend purchasing the local storage. My internet blips in and out occasionally. Once it loses connection with the local storage even for a second, it knocks it back to cloud storage, or lack there of. It will only go back to local storage when I manually reset my modem through my spectrum app. I don't know why it does this, it's so aggravating and a big hassle, and it happened so often that I just said forget it. My local storage now just sits there useless. I had zero issues during my 30 day trial, only the local storage gives me issues. I wouldn't mind purchasing the subscription but the pricing is astronomical! They really are taking advantage of people who just want a safe home. Had I known the issues and the pricing before, I never would have gotten this system.
Hi Tina Beanz! I'm so sorry you're having issues with your Blink System. I know how frustrating it is when the products we purchase fail to meet our expectations. I don't like the subscription pricing either. If you are out of the refund period, then I would suggest contacting Spectrum for a new modem (if you haven't done it already). Then move the Blink sync module as close as possible to the modem. If you are unable to move it, then consider a WIFI signal booster. Or.. you could consider selling the system and upgrading to a better one. Blink is definitely not a good fit for everyone. Thanks for commenting again and I hope all works out for you.
@@TeachMe101 oh, forgive me but I forgot to Thank You for this video. Chose this out of like 100,lol. So it made it easier for me to set up too. God Bless, may the Safety Dance be with you and you. LoL. Stay safe
Hey, is the Blink App still working like you have described it? The video is almost 2 years old, so they might have changed something in that time… Thank you for the answer 👋
The cost for the plus plan in Canada is 150 dollars… more than 3 or more cameras . I realize that I only need 2 cameras if one camera has at lest a 50 foot trigger or more like other brands . When I look at Blink , there was no information about subscription fees and it’s cost. I would not recommend this poor product to my enemies
you did some short cut amigo, after you insert your thumb drive you'll see it's connected then where did u go after that. you should safe eject the flash drive and go to your computer and check the video.
Hi Rodel! Thanks for the comment. Yes. After you insert the flash drive into the module, open the app to view the footage. And of course, you can insert it into your computer too. I just find the app is faster and more convenient for me. Sorry for any confusion.
I did everything you said. Everything was perfect up until you showed how it looks. I am getting no motion detection notifications and no clip history library to view the clips on my phone. Where is that second screen you pulled up that shows the recorded clips with the play buttons. I clicked on "clips" and it says "no recent activity" (when I know for a fact that I tripped the motion sensor). So. what am i doing wrong?
The check list comparisons showed me the module has only 3 features and thou this video is a help, it is just 10$ a month to have full access to the Blink like a few minutes and longer of LIVE FEED AWAY FROM HOME. That feature is a no brainer of having subscription as I would buy the sync module only to be disappointed of not having subscription. But real truth is what is 10$ a month compared to trying to save money over lives???
June 20 2022 after trying to hook up my video doorbell no other security trying to install the blink app it appears all efforts have been depleted. Trying to find answers
Good information thank you. One question I have the old sync module, do I need to delete the old sync module before I add the sync module 2 to my front and back cameras?
Hi Tim! That's a good question. I believe cameras can only be used with one module at a time. So try adding your cameras to the new module first, when prompted delete them from your old module, then install them on the new one. I hope my answer helps.
Ok, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed on this subject, but I want to be sure.....considering I mailed back to Amazon a bunch of Arlo stuff today. It is April 2023 and today I can go onto Amazon and order the Module 2 and 5 cameras and set them up to record motion within my house and not have to pay a fee.?? Still true? I plan to only use them when I am away from the house for extended periods to hopefully catch any intruder on tape so I can play back to police later. I do not need continuous recording by any means. Has Blink added some kind of software since this vid was made that nullifies setting it up at no fee? Sure would appreciate an update.
Hi Old Shooter! Thanks so much for asking. Yes Blink has definitely changed their policy since this recording. The system is not guaranteed to record after the trial period ends. They may however continue to record for months but will eventually stop recording. Bottom line - Amazon wants the subscription cash. It will be unavoidable in the long run. Reolink camera system maybe a better long term solution.
Is there any real need for USB usage on the system if you have the cloud? A friend said you don’t need the cloud, and can just use USB if you have less than six cameras. Is he wrong? Will you still get notifications to your phone if you are just using USB?
@@ltcajh Yes you should receive notifications with or without a subscription. But the USB backup is hit or miss. Sometimes it works and other times it won't. But if you can get it to backup once, then it "should" work.
So let me get this right. Local will record to flash drive where if you need to show a clip to the police you can pull the drive and see the clip on a computer then? That would work for me as I am not in a high crime location.
Great video, but the storage never records even though it's snowing the usb..its as if they want you to subscribe as a method to fix the problem because they never have the solution. Still my USB is not recording without cloud
Hi primAdonna! That's a great question. Many people have had the same issue. But there is a fix. First let's try this Blink support page: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/issues-with-your-camera/my-clips-are-not-saving Please let me know if this works for you. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Be safe and have a wonderful New Year!
@@TeachMe101 all my blink permission were already own for camera and storage ..I even bought new storage USB and did reformat and did also various troubleshooting they recommend.. the issue i believe is they don't want you to have the *free option. They want you to subscribe and there made blink connection to module in a way that keeps the signal dropping in an out, corrupting the connection... I literally have my camera 5ft from the modem and module and still no clip saves on the module
Thanks! I'm glad it helped. And your assumption was correct. That was the case but Blink finally updated their app a few months ago. More updates are also coming but I'm not sure if they will require a subscription to use them.
@@TeachMe101 I followed your video and I can now see my camera videos with the use of a USB drive instead of the cloud without any subscription. Thanks so much for sharing the videos and helping us new BLINK camera system owners.
So my one mo free is up and I don't have a sync module. This was a gift to me. It only works as a live camera doorbell without a sync module correct? Is there anything else it can do? I don't want to buy all this extra but now I feel like I have to. I use the noorio b200 for inside and backyard. I definitely prefer it over the blank because it has a USB charge and internal storage. The other issue is this blink camera is drilled into My door now and I'm stuck with it. My noorio is magnetic and versatile for placement. I've heard all I have to do on my blank camera is to hit the camera icon if I want to see in live mode and I don't even see the camera icon option. Again, is there anything I can do other than doorbell live cam without the sink module? Thanks so much!
Hi Shell H! That's a great question. That sounds so frustrating. I'm so sorry to hear about your trouble. Unfortunately, Blink is driven by the dollar and without a subscription our options are limited. But all is not lost! There are few things you can try. You could uninstall the Blink Doorbell and patch the small screw holes. But this may require touching up the door with a little paint. Or after uninstalling the Blink, you could also purchase another wireless doorbell system that doesn't require a subscription and use the same screw holes from the Blink doorbell. Here's also a support page that will give you even more info: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/faq-doorbell/blink-video-doorbell-faq I hope I was able to help.
@@TeachMe101 thanks for your response. With the sync module, the battery lasts longer? I am really just curious if without a subscription it's supposed to pick up movement. I've tested it and it doesn't appear to and the link you sent insinuates it does. I am pretty sure I turned the motion detection on properly.
@@shellh.5193 You are so welcome Shell H! Let's try one more thing. Try un-installing the app then re-install it and log on to your account. This may help restore lost functions.
@@TeachMe101 ok. I have to order new batteries first. This is my second set of lithium batteries since I've had this for a short time. I will try that though unless I can try alkaline batteries to get me but until the lithium batteries arrive? Not sure if that hurts anything not having the right batteries.
when i go into sync storage below sync mod on line there is no local storage, do i have to have my thumb drive in the usb slot on the module first for it to show up on my phone? my software has been up dated, btw i have 2 xt 2nd gen 1 xt2 3rd gen thanks
Hi G R Meyers! Thanks for asking. You are correct. The thumb drive is used to store your local videos. So you'll have to insert it in the usb slot to view it. Thanks again for asking.😀
Are the push notifications slower to alert you to detection without a subscription? Or to live video When detection happens? That’s more important to me then how fast I can view the recording.
You can check their support page for more information. support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/contact-support/blink-technical-phone-support##search_query=Notification%20
Ok, I guess I misunderstood, the outdoor cams recording to the flash drive can be viewed on my iPhone? I though you had to remove it, put it in a computer, am I wrong?
Hi Midwest Rebel! You're not wrong. The camera footage can now be viewed in both places. This has not always been the case though. The Blink app was upgraded to view the footage without the cloud service.
I plug mine in and everything shows good connected working but it will stop notifying me and it won’t record to storage. However the camera itself actually shows it’s recording.
Hi Candy! I only recommend plans according to need. If there is an area of immediate concern and you need to stay connected with events in that location, then a subscription may be a good idea. The app will send you notifications and then record even if you are watching live. These particular features are not available without a subscription. If there is only one area of concern then I would purchase the Basic plan. If you have multiple areas of concern and several cameras then the Plus subscription plan is advisable. However, if you don't require immediate notifications and don't mind viewing the footage later, then stay with No Subscription. Thanks for the question. And I hope I was helpful too.
Any thumb drive should work. But I would wait before buying it. Blink maybe changing their policy in the future. You may not be able to record without a subscription. I've got a video upcoming that's going to talk about it.
They have game cameras for hunting you can get for 179$ a pair of two that record and show you video with a wifi connected and app installed. Try that route and they are waterproof

It shows the Sync Module as on line and that it did a backup yesterday, but no way to play the vids from the module because there is no choice for Cloud vs Home. Got any ideas to fix this? Thx
Hi Bill! Thanks for asking. Let's try this article: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/blink-video-doorbell-information/using-the-blink-video-doorbell-with-a-sync-module
Quick question, what type of USB any size would work and also so If I get a USB for the sync model 2 my videos will save and work? Can I view them on my phone?
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for asking. I use this USB with my Blink system: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07855LJ99/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And yes! You can view your footage through your Blink app. Thanks again for the comments and for watching.
Hi Musicology! Thanks for the question. Yes, the Sync Module 2 works as a traditional sync module and works with all generations of Blink cameras from the original Indoor (gen 1), XT, and XT2 - to the new Blink Video Doorbell, Indoor (gen 2), Outdoor, and Mini. Have a wonderfully happy new year!!!
Hi Carrie! That's a great question. Yes that would be a wonderful idea. You really don't have to record at all. But keep in mind, Blink cameras can't operate offline and require a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Internet connection. So you don't need the cloud or USB, but you will need a Wi-Fi connection to use the camera. I hope this helps.
Hi Jim! Make sure your drive is no larger than 256gigs. You may need to unplug the module for a few seconds then plug it up again. Does it recognize the USB drive?
Hi Rodel! Thanks for asking. You should definitely be seeing clips. Try ejecting the USB drive and then install it again. Make sure the USB has a storage capacity of 256 or less. You can try another drive too. If that doesn't work then you may have to reset the Sync Module. Then re-install the USB. I'm so sorry this isn't working for you. I hope these suggestions will help.
I’m having issues getting it to record when I don’t have a subscription and I don’t get a backup when I do have a subscription. Also, can you get motion alerts when you don’t have a subscription?
Hi Irv! Thanks for the questions. Not Recording: The Blink camera should record automatically when it detects motion. Let's try to increase the sensitivity of that camera to 7 or 8. You can find these controls at the top of each camera picture on the home screen. Check out this link on the Blink support site: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/indoor-outdoor/how-to-adjust-camera-settings-indoor-outdoor Backup: As long as the USB drive is correctly installed it should backup your footage automatically. Try to eject the USB drive then reinstalling it. Check out this link on the Blink support site: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/sync-module-2-local-storage-operation Motion Alerts: Unfortunately, you must have a subscription to receive alerts. I really don't like that.... Well thanks again. I hope this information is helpful.
@@TeachMe101 Thanks. I will try to reinstall the module on my app and the drive to see if that resolves the issue. I had to get the subscription again because of that but want to get it to work so I can cancel the subscription. I bought the Blink camera in 2020. A good friend suggested I buy this camera because it showed clear videos. It was also advertised on Amazon that it DID NOT HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION PLAN. My cameras have been active for 2 years efficiently and effectively. Fast forward 2 years ''2022'' and I receive an email saying that I must now pay a subscription plan. I feel like I've been scammed. Isn't that selling under false pretense ? This is not acceptable. Blink has rendered my cameras useless. They do not work at all. How deceiving. I want to return them and get my money back. I still have the packaging and receipt. I've reached out to them several times and I get an automated email reply every single time. Do you have any suggestions ? Thank you kindly.
Hi JoanneP! That’s a great question and unfortunately, I get that question a bunch. A lot of people feel the same way as you do. They are so frustrated with Amazon. However, there is one work around that has helped a few people in this area. It's time consuming and it requires a little tech savviness, but it may help you too. You can try it if you like. Here it is: 1. If you are using a sync module - eject it. Copy any footage on to a computer, then reformat the USB drive. Set it aside for now. ( support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/how-to-safe-eject-the-usb-drive-from-a-sync-module-2 ) 2. Reset your router to factory settings. (You may have to Google how to do this for your router.) 3. Reset your Blink Sync Module to factory settings. ( support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/issues-with-your-sync-module/sync-module-reset-button ) 4. Setup your Blink System. 5. Insert a blank USB drive into your sync module. It CAN NOT be more than 256 gigs. If you have been using one, download it first on your computer. Then re-insert it into the module. ( support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/sync-module-2-local-storage-operation ) 6. Try it out! Hopefully you can now record to your USB drive.
Joanne P. Sorry to hear how you're being treated!! Questions for you. 1) Did you EVER take advantage of the Blink Cloud Storage plans even on a trial basis or did you ONLY USE the Local Storage option? Would love to know as I'm considering the Blink cameras. 2) Also, what did they say what would happen if you didn't pay for a subscription plan?
@@keepitsimple8 I bought 3 Blink cameras mainly because it was sold on Amazon with NO subscription plan. 2 years later I receive an email advising there is a subscription fee. I thought it was a scam. A few weeks later my cameras are completely disabled. I send an email to Blink. Robot emails answer. No way of getting in touch. Subscription is per camera. So $$ Cameras were sold on false pretence. I use a USB as suggested in some « You Tube » videos but cameras record sporadicly. Longer to check who is at the door when Alexa notifies. SO frustrating & extremely deceiving. My son just bought WYZE cameras on Amazon & says they are exceptional. I DO NOT recommend buying BLINK cameras. In 2 yrs, will they double or triple price for subscription? At this point, I DON’T trust Blink. I was deceived! Hope this helps. Thank you for asking.

Hi Peaceful! Thanks for asking. With or without a subscription, your Blink camera will record when it detects motion. Here's the difference: No subscription - live feed is not being recorded. With subscription - your Blink camera will record AS YOU are watching the live feed AND when it detects motion. Please keep in mind the camera won't record continually - they only record when they detect motion or when you watch the live feed (Subscription only). I hope this helps. Thanks again!
Mine won't record to the USB, as soon as my trial ended my cameras stopped recording, everything is set exactly like shown in the video here but since the trial ended nothing records to my USB and I don't get notifications and it says I need a subscription, everything recorded just fine on the USB up until the trial ended and now they are just dead cameras. Can anyone help with this please?
Hi Y.C.B.M.! I would suggest rebooting the system. Try unplugging the sync module for about a minute then plug it back in. You may need to reinstall the app as well. The cameras should record motion only. And unfortunately you won't receive notifications without a subscription.
Hi Mr. Fat! That would be awesome. But unfortunately the answer (at this moment) is no. Evidently Amazon wants to keep all the money. USB storage is the only option. That's a great question though!
Hi Luis! Thanks or asking. That's a great question! I can think of 4 possible reasons why the second camera isn't recording. 1 - Check to see if the camera motion sensor has been enabled. If it has the "little running man" will be blue. If he is gray, touch him and it will be enabled. 2 - The camera is positioned to far away from the moment. Keep in mind the maximum motion detection range is approximately 20 feet for all blink cameras. 3. Make sure the motion detection area for that camera has not been zoned out. Check the camera settings on the app and look for zones. 4. The battery maybe to weak to function properly. Keep in mind the cameras are designed to record only when moment is detected. However if you have a cloud plan, you should be able to record anytime by pressing the button. I really hope this helps. Stay cool. Mark
Hi Wesley! Thanks so much for asking. I actually have a "How to" video available on my channel. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/X6GqRezTZGI/w-d-xo.html I hope it helps.
One thing you didn't mention is that when using local storage (USB Thumb drive) you can't view those clips on the app. You have to wait till you get home, take the thumb drive out and load it into your computer to view the clips. To me, this makes the cameras virtually useless.
Hi Paul! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Yes that is a very annoying problem. I don't like that either. I think I did address that issue in the video around the one minute point. I'll try to be more precise in the next video.
I can't believe Amazon is trying to coerce more revenue out of people that have bought their Blink camera system in good faith. Let's take features away unless they (you and I) send us more money. Very disappointing Amazon !!
Question WHY HAVE TO PAY ANY SUBSCRIPTION for my CAMERAS PROPERTY ( paid for the device and pay for internet service battery or electricity AND MONTHLY CLOUD SERVICE, WHATS GOING ON ) They do something because you not use their cloud service, yes like APPLE with the iphone. What are doing ISNOT FEAR
Hi Carlos! Thanks for the comment. Yes I feel the same. It's not fair to buy the equipment then have to pay for a subscription. I wont pay it! That's why I use the USB to store my footage. Crazy!
It's 100% fair and nice of them to give you options. They don't force you to use the cloud and they even give you a FREE 30 trial when you first set everything up. It's 100% up to you at that point if you want the peace of mind convenience of a cloud sub with unlimited storage and a lifetime warranty on your cameras without breaking the banks($100/year for Unlimited devices) or if you prefer using a thumb drive for each device without paying anything extra. It would be messed up if they forced you to pay a sub fee every month but that simply is not the case here.
blink cameras, under the guise of security, require a phone number. Other camera venders don't require that. The only reason I can think they require a phone number is because that want to associate the camera with other information and sell to data brokers.
I paid the $100.00 for the whole year and it covers my three camera's. I love it. It's hassle free for me.

Yes, you can definitely add a new 3rd gen Blink camera to your existing system/account and still get free cloud storage for life. Your account is considered a legacy account. Legacy accounts are Blink accounts that were created before April 15, 2020.Jul 10, 2023

Great follow up information on what the Blink system can and cannot do. I appreciate your posting this. God bless!
Hi Paul! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Just ordered the Blink outdoor camera 3 pack, module 2 system and the 256 USB drive and holder. I have no clue how to set this all up or anything lol
I also ordered the Ring Spotlight solar camera with gutter mounts. No clue which system to use or how ro use it lol
Debating on getting 2-4 cameras.
Take a look at this power adapter:
www.amazon.com/Blink-Weather-Resistant-Power-Cable-Adapter/dp/B08BX9Q2W1/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=26NGFDMYHOI3H&keywords=blink+power+cable&qid=1652928424&sprefix=blink+power+cabel,aps,79&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
I would prefer this over the standard USB adapter plug.
Reolink is from chyyyna ... do you support Xi's criminal communist government??
Great video! 👍
3 bucks a month for the added benefit and piece of mind is a no-brainer for me!
Excellent Marco! I 'm so glad it's working out of you.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.
It's good for a few cameras. If someone has many cameras then it's a problem.
Does the $3 a month plan cover three or more cameras?
It is the LIVE FEED which is a must and notice the sync module do not cover this so I just went to subscribe..

Hey, is the Blink App still working like you have described it? The video is almost 2 years old, so they might have changed something in that time…
Thank you for the answer 👋
Blink has actually made several changes since this video. But the basic features are the same.
Thanks for making this video. It was straight to the point.
Thanks Don!
You were so descriptive! Thank you for making this video.
You're so welcome! Thanks for taking the time and commenting.
Found you by accident nice channel
I appreciate ya.
Terrific review, answered all my questions.
Awesome thanks!
My question is: can I see live video feed on my phone without a subscription but record it on my thumb drive?
Yes. You should be able to view the live feed. But NOW Blink won't record without a sub.
Question can you pay for the front door but use the card for the indoor one? Like have some cams you pay for and some you don't
That's a great question. Yes. You can add the subscription to just one camera. Watch my video "The Truth About Blink 2024" for more information. 👍😀
Wow, I was considering getting the Blink. But not being able to record footage if I view it live is a negative for me.
Yes. I agree.

Nice video I need this when I made my selection on what cameras to use
Glad I could help
@@TeachMe101 Thanks so much so saving me a big hassle.
Now if they would only support multiple accounts, without giving admin access to everyone!
Thanks so much. Very informative.
Thanks Carrie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 😊👏👍
So let me get this right. Local will record to flash drive where if you need to show a clip to the police you can pull the drive and see the clip on a computer then?
That would work for me as I am not in a high crime location.
Hi Dave! That should be the case. I advice everyone to always run a test to be sure.
So, you DO need an Internet connection to use sync module 2 ??
Yes. It won't work without one.
Why is there a limit of 1,000 videos on the local storage. And I have lots of space on the USB. It says 8% used and yet blink keeps overwriting videos
Help whatever past two weeks have been trying to hook up my video doorbell have no extra security and my house got broken into
Great video, but the storage never records even though it's snowing the usb..its as if they want you to subscribe as a method to fix the problem because they never have the solution. Still my USB is not recording without cloud
Hi primAdonna! That's a great question. Many people have had the same issue. But there is a fix.
First let's try this Blink support page:

Please let me know if this works for you.
This is good information. I was under the assumption that with the thumb drive or USB drive you have to upload the videos to a laptop or PC?

Here's also a support page that will give you even more info:
support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/faq-doorbell/blink-video-doorbell-faq
I hope I was able to help.

Try umimstalling then re-install the app.
Cant delete multiple videos at once with local storage. Thats really sucks bad.
Hi, what plan do you have ? Or Which plan do you recommend? Thank you
And I hope I was helpful too.
brought a 2nd blink how do I add to sync module
Will any thumb drive work with the blink or just the Amazon drive. Do they make an extender for the cameras? Thanks in advance.
Any thumb drive should work. But I would wait before buying it. Blink maybe changing their policy in the future. You may not be able to record without a subscription. I've got a video upcoming that's going to talk about it.
It seems perfect for me just tell me if something is there give me a live view and I'll take it from there no recording needed or wanted lol.

I’m having issues getting it to record when I don’t have a subscription and I don’t get a backup when I do have a subscription. Also, can you get motion alerts when you don’t have a subscription?
Hi Irv! Thanks for the questions.
Not Recording:
The Blink camera should record automatically when it detects motion. Let's try to increase the sensitivity of that camera to 7 or 8. You can find these controls at the top of each camera picture on the home screen.
Check out this link on the Blink support site:
support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/indoor-outdoor/how-to-adjust-camera-settings-indoor-outdoor

Here it is:
1. If you are using a sync module - eject it. Copy any footage on to a computer, then reformat the USB drive. Set it aside for now. ( support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/how-to-safe-eject-the-usb-drive-from-a-sync-module-2 )
2. Reset your router to factory settings. (You may have to Google how to do this for your router.)
3. Reset your Blink Sync Module to factory settings. ( support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/issues-with-your-sync-module/sync-module-reset-button )
4. Setup your Blink System.
5. Insert a blank USB drive into your sync module. It CAN NOT be more than 256 gigs. If you have been using one, download it first on your computer. Then re-insert it into the module. ( support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/sync-module-2/sync-module-2-local-storage-operation )

So if get the paid cloud subscription for Blink will have continued recording or be allowed to record all the time?
Hi Peaceful! Thanks for asking.
With or without a subscription, your Blink camera will record when it detects motion. Here's the difference:
No subscription - live feed is not being recorded.
With subscription - your Blink camera will record AS YOU are watching the live feed AND when it detects motion.
Please keep in mind the camera won't record continually - they only record when they detect motion or when you watch the live feed (Subscription only).
I hope this helps.

Hi, I have 2 blinks camera but only one is recording, do you know why?
Stay cool. Mark

@@TeachMe101 is it possible to do a video on this reformatting? I’d like to not pay for the damn subscription
@@Legggoooifuego_ Sure! That shouldn't be a problem. I'll put it on the list.
I can't believe Amazon is trying to coerce more revenue out of people that have bought their Blink camera system in good faith. Let's take features away unless they (you and I) send us more money. Very disappointing Amazon !!
Faak Scamazon!!
God bless you brother 🙏
You too
Omg thank you for this
You're welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Not that much of a difference in service. But all cameras have good and bad features. Blink is a low cost system but it’s better then no cameras
I agree. Thanks for the comment!
