I've listened to several people talk about the Blink camera system, but your voice was the easiest for me to understand and comprehend. Your explanations are great and understandable for me as I'm not very tech savvy. Thank you.
Great video. We installed 8 cameras at my mother's house (combo of Mini 2, Outdoor 4 and Mini Pan Tilt). The subscription paid for itself on the first month alone when we detected our mother was on the floor. We were able to talk to her via the camera while EMS was on its way. We were able to replay the videos to find out she had slipped and hit her hip and inform the paramedic via the camera. By the time my brother arrived, she was being whisked away in the ambulance.
You must have a different Blink than I. Mine records without a subscription through the sync module and a USB thumb drive. I also have a live view, but it won't record the live view.
Older Blink models like the XT, XT2, and some older Minis will record to the cloud without a subscription. Yes you are correct. It's does appear that live recording for all models may need a sub plan. Which model do you have?
@@TeachMe101I have the Blink Outdoor with the Sync Module 2. No it does not record to the cloud without a subscription, but it does record to USB on the Sync Module without the subscription.
Thank you for the information I purchased mine in Oct 2021 and never connected it. I love the understanding of having a subscription vs not having a subscription. Will your cameras be protected if I signed up after the warranty has expired? Truly your comprehension information about the product made it easier for me to grasp! Thank you! Love your studio and back drop AMAZINGLY professional! I also design clothes and notice the quality of your shirt fabric is quality!
I record with the blink outdoor camera 4's w/o a subscription. You use the same blink app , add up to 256GB storage on the sync module and flip the app from cloud to local. The only downside is that the video clips that are recorded don't have a snapshot view attached like the cloud storage does. Just a play button for each clip. So you have to go through each to find what your looking for. Clips are still time stamped and dated but no snapshots. I'm sure some one has or is working on a backdoor for that.
How long does it take to pull up a live view? I'm on the cloud plan and it takes a while for it to sync and start playing, which I hate. Don't have a USB storage hooked up, but I'm thinking that would speed things up. Does it for you?
very informative video. We are now considering blink hehehhe I guess all camera has their "moments" ours were fine then after 2yrs just suddenly won't record or keep loading bahahaha
If you have 3 cameras, is it Possible to sign up only one camera for the basic plan Or will it require plus plan as 3 cameras are connecting to sync module?
Thank you for the video. I'm a senior and new to this technology. My understanding is, if I have a subscription I do not need a sync module and USB, is this correct? If yes and I decide on the module/USB, do I still view things via the blink app or do I need to remove the USB and insert it into my computer for viewing? I have a troublesome Karen nearby who likes to mess with my car. In order to give her a legal "healing" I need some proof, must I have a subscription in order to record or will I be able to get it off the USB? Thanks so much. I sure appreciate your time. 🙂
I have the outdoor blink camera's for 3 years so far,(I have mine hard wired ,batteries did not last long at all) it was pretty good till latest update . Now when i review "Clips Folder" there are notfications that don't go away ,even after I viewed all "Clips" . I called customer Service they suggested to Uninstall then Re install . Well that just erased All Clips. and now its doing it again ,mystery clips that won't clear folder ?
Try this... Go to clips folder 1 - Press the "edit" button. 2 - Press "select all" button. 3 - Then press "marked viewed" or "delete". 4 - Then scroll up your clips until you see the next "notification DOT". 5 - Repeat steps 1-5 until all the hidden clips have been either viewed or deleted. * Note you may have to restart the app a few times to see the notification count go down.
I've owned a Blink system for several years. The positives? No monthly fee and, WHEN IT WORKS, its great, BUT every few months it fails (usually a sync module problem which can take hours to fix); I call it my "stink" module.
The situation not covered is when 2 mobiles are connected to Blink, set to Local storage, one shows the video clips, the other shows "No Recent Activity" . Both receive notifications of motion events. It has to be a problem with the mobile phone, I would suggest that although Blink is said to need IOS 15, the recent upgrade to Blink has taken the into the realms of IOS 16 and beyond.
Do you know if you use the Blink local storage device are you able to be able to live view and record at the same time? Or does it operate the same as if you are using your own usb storage device?
I've set up my Blink cameras (outdoor 4 and mini 2) with an Echo show 8. I've noticed that it takes a while for it to start a live feed when I issue a command to Echo show, and there's a 4 second lag in the footage, between what is happening live and what the feed shows. Do you think adding a USB on the sync module will make it faster?
My blink has started switching to saving clips on the cloud storage. I don’t have cloud storage!!! I have the usb and it has worked great until recently. Is there a way to disable cloud storage? How do I fix this? 😞
I'm confused. I have 3 cameras. Just put them up. It notifies me of motion and when I go into the app I view the clip and then delete them right away. To continue this, do I need a subscription?
Hey - I’ve just changed routers to a TP-Link AX3000, and I can’t connect to my Blink sync module. I’m sure I am putting in the password correctly. Any ideas?
@@TeachMe101. This is a tough one. I’m not given the option for the 2ghz signal. I called Blink “help”. The fellow (probably in India) took me thru several steps, including deleting the sync module and starting over, but to no avail. We even rebooted the new router. His last suggestion was to call my internet service provider (?). Any other ideas? (I may stop by our church to see what router we’re using! 😄). Thanks!
@@stevew9988 You'll probably have to get a laptop or computer and connect it directly to the router via an eternet cable. Then login (using your admin and password), go into settings, then turn on the 2ghz signal.
@@TeachMe101 It’s been an adventure, but I’ve got it working! After much more research here are the steps I took: Remove power wire from module and hold down reset button for 20 seconds. Still holding down the reset button, plug the power wire into the module and hold for another 20 seconds then release and then press the reset button 10 times Now blue light turns on. Green light is off. Press the reset button for 10 seconds and release now both blue and green light are on. Press the scan for device. Once connected to your blink module it will ask to connect to your Internet and add the password. At this point blink module is going to say updating your module (it took a few minutes). I didn’t think any of these steps worked…but about 6 hours later while checking our church cameras, I found it was working again! Thanks for your help.
Mine worked for at least 4 years now thy stopped, Spectrum router stopped working they had to give me a new one this stopped the Blinks because of gh's was not right. blink support helped but now still not recording. Never had this issue before also not on any plan.

I have four Blink battery cameras given to me as a gift. Would I spend my money on them - no way! I have other security cameras which record 24/7 onto a SD card, will tilt up/down, right/left, and provide notification, and cost around $35 each. They required electrical power but my home has plenty of electrical power. 😂
