Hello, my wife seems to have the same kind of laptop (Sony VAIO VPC-EH2C5E). I already upgraded the CPU from Pentium B950 to Core i7-2640M and RAM to 2x4GB. She still want's to keep it, but it's painfully slow, so I'm considering further upgrades: 1) SSD: Software told me the HDD is only running @SATAI, even though chipset an HDD should support atleast SATAII, chipset even SATAIII. Do you know what speed an SSD would be limited to in this laptop? 2) WiFi: The Atheros AR92xx ist AFAIK limited to WiFi4 @2,4GHz. Can I plug in any miniPCIe-WiFi-adapter or only the ones supported from factory? 3) mainboard/CPU: The mainboard of VPC-EH seems to be nearly identical to it's successor's, SVE-151x, just some onboard-components changed places. Do you think one could swapp the board and upgrade to Ivy Bridge Core i7-3632QM and GeForce GTX 640M LE?
1. I think it's SATA2. 2. It should run from the (better) wifi adapter. 3. If you can, it might be better. But to be fair, these upgrades are fairly expensive all together. Also, time consuming. Might consider still buying a newer laptop.
I got a different model the vpccw21fx and I tried installing xubuntu but I get to the part where it says xubuntu and loads before black screening but the laptop stays on smh.
@@fistbumpbros not yet but I managed to boot into it now and install it, and Im pretty sure it’s a driver issue. Cause it boots up with safe graphics mode or recovery, and when I try to update the drivers there’s no driver support. So now I have to find a way to install the drivers for a Nvidia GeForce 310m.
Sir whats the exact model of that sony laptop??
You can see the exact model name at @00:18

Can you put any ssd or any ram you want?
Any SSD will do, but the RAM is DDR3 i think.
Can I upgrade my Sony Vaio PCG-71311N?
Sure, there are plastic lids on the bottom that can be opened to access that HDD and RAM.
@@fistbumpbros Thanks!
No problem!
Can i upgrade my sony vaio laptop to external gpu? My laptop model is Vpcef47fx
To my knowledge, relying on a external GPU requires a newer motherboard which has at least something like a USB-C port.
Can I upgrade Sony Vaio TZ Series?
I had to read up on the unit, but the HDD can be upgraded with an SSD (or m2) but I can't find anything on the RAM though.
Hi! Is the GPU soldered on the mobo, or can I take it simply off?
Hi, soldered (visible at @2:13)
@@fistbumpbros I was hoping I'm not seeing right :( Thank you
@@glagolica these cheaper laptops have them all soldered. The higher end retro ones (like the Dell XPS one refurbished) have discretes.
Sir Can i upgrade my sony vaio vpceh25en R0180Z9 bios i updated
Upgrade in what sense?
I have same laptop sir what SSD should I buy ? Pls I need answer sir
Any SSD with a SATA connection will do.
Is that good for gaming even it is 10 yr old ?
Depends. Gaming from that era and lower should be fine. Don't expect it to run things like Crysis 2 or something.
This laptop can be upgraded easily beyond of what you did...
Ok man
You are so smart! A wonderful man!

Seems it just doesn't boot trough. Have you tried another harddrive?

Ah, that might be an issue. Linux distros are still a maze of driver issues. Good luck with that!
what a great job!
Thank you!
Can i upgradeSony vaio VGN-CS215J (new subscriber plz 🙏)
I think only it's ram and harddrive. Most of it is welded to the motherboard.
nice
Thanks!
