I am similar. I have 2 12" kickers (6yrs old bro) and two kicker amps 800.1 and 400.4 to power doors and tweets. But got the head unit andf my stereo is so clear and loud I turn it down to nice levels. The based inside is nice, hard, and solid. Doors and tweets areJBLs.

I feel like aftermarket stereo software is stuck in 2001... They all look super old.
I hate aftermarket stereo software and I hate how underpowered they are. They are so slow. For a $1200 unit I want something snappy.
Thats why I like sony's stereos because the software is minimalist and cleaner.

Best stereo review video out there. Keep these up! I can’t wait to upgrade from my Alpine iLX-F309 to either this Kenwood or the Pioneer. They have really leap frogged Alpine in bringing more modern features more in line with where technology is currently.

Bought this last month. Installed it in a 2016 Polaris Slingshot. Got damn! Amazing unit. Clean AF. $1200.00 out the door. Running a couple JL Audio amps. JL sub. 4x6.5 coax Kicker marine grade. Boom.

I have a 2004 dually truck that I haul with and need multiple cameras-first reason to purchase. I replaced my OEM stereo to get bluetooth and it had no volume control knob and little tiny buttons-I HATE IT. I can't take my eyes off the road to deal with the radio. I'm going to put my big girl panties and buy this radio to replace the other (it was expensive) which is inconvenient and a safety hazard. Thank You for the review, very helpful.
I gotta admit you guys do some good reviews, hopefully Kenwood comes out with an updated model.
Those bezels are absurd aren’t they? It’s kind of crazy that this is still their flagship model in 2023, going into 2024. Seeing sales recently made me wonder if they would release a new model at CES in January, but they aren’t even exhibiting at CES
Starting to consider Android Head Units because they look more modern and some have more features

It’s crazy how big the bezels are on that head unit. Was kind of hoping they would release an updated version, but not holding my breath.
I’ve been considering this one for awhile, but TBH, I’m now heavily considering an Android Head Unit because these big name brands seem to be moving at a snails pace nowadays.

I got this in my car and love it. The android mirror link works amazing and I can stream Netflix or any app on my phone clean. I usually keep music videos playing as I drive. Oh and yes it will give me a full screen view and is totally crisp picture c
Josh, great review on this Kenwood. Best review I've came across and has made my mind up to go with this unit. I'm in the UK and having it fitted on the 18th Feb. Over here it's the DMX9720XDS. 👍

your EU version would be a step up from this . it would be equivalent to the DMX1057XR with 5V preouts but you also get garmin nav, but imo not needed since google maps is way better.

I can’t wait to install this in my car the knob is where it’s at or where f you don’t like the KNOB... the JVC equivalent you can draw a circle to lower and raise the volume. And the gestures with swiping.
Yeah that’s true. We haven’t received our JVC equivalent yet but I there are other JVC models with the “ virtual” knob too. If you haven’t purchase yours yet we have the Kenwood priced really low on our site .... check it out
exactly why i went jvc kw-z1000w instead of dmx1057xr.... hate that retarded volume knob. sleek look is better, especially these days where 99% of the vehicle these will go in will have steering wheel audio controls

I know your not supposed to watch videos while driving but a stereo shop told me this is the only unit ( not Alpine, Sony ) that still can hook to brake module and let passengers watch TH-cam while driving. They said other brands have put something in unit where you can’t
There are was of bypassing the alpine with a rely and the Sony is bypassed with the same way as Kenwood. So that info is not entirely true…

What a good no of cams input, but why no one implantment the 360 recording features? We don't just use the camera for parking and blind spot, we need it when accident happens too!

I'm looking to buy this unit. I currently have the DNX893s and have a miracast hooked up to the hdmi so I can stream Netflix and such to the screen. Is there a latency between the video and audio from streaming TH-cam videos? I have 2019 Grand Caravan and it has about a 1-2 sec latency between video and audio.

As far as we know there is no adapter to interface for a factory mic. The radio comes with a mic. On the idatalink, it depends what year make and model vehicle you have. Check the idatalink website to see what features it will retain for your vehicle.
I have a kenwood ddx905s. Would the wire harness be the same? Or would I have to resolder everything again?

no it dosent. with kenwood/jvc you always simply ground the park break wire to ground or to the screw on back of radio.

Has anyone had issues with connecting factory camera to it? My camera was an amazing resolution and image, on a 2019, but after the install of the DMX1037S the image is grainy, ugly, and has lines (assuming noise). The Best Buy said they couldn't do anything outside of replacing it, any help is appreciated.

Can I use the HDMI for my iPhone to mirror and play a movie for example and will that same movie be able to be displayed on a factory rear seat screen like in a Denali? Will the video out on the head unit be able to convert that signal and push it out to the rear entertainment?
Ok so in that scenario the radio will not output the video signal to the rear monitor. The radio will not downscale the hdmi signal to a composite (or yellow wire.) if you want to have both monitors play from your phone you have to down scale the signal coming out of the iPhone then bring it back into the monitors. So use a lighting cable to hdmi, hdmi input to composite output then use a y cable to split the output to the monitors. You can buy the hdmi splitter on Amazon but recommend the apple lighting to hdmi. Ok hope that helps!

Awesome review! Does the Kenwood DMX1037S come in a single din? I own a 1994 FORD F-350 XLT Crew Cab. It has a single din or regular size aftermarket sony am-fm cd player installed. I have seen a kit that is used for the double din stereo but you have to cut out a part of the dash in order to make it fit. I really dont want to cut the dash. Any info would be very helpful. Does anyone know how to access the secret menu that lets you change the boot screen logo?
I have the radio for 3 mos. It’s buggy already. Cannot get Apple Maps to display on my screen. When I disconnect hard wire to go wireless, the screen freezes. Apple CarPlay rarely displays on the menu screen. The icon is dark. The radio sound is good and mates well with my amps and speakers. Coming from a pioneer AVEC unit which was horrible and hard to see. 10” screen size helps to navigate. Volume knob is a great addition. The manual doesn’t show troubleshooting issues. 3 out of 5 stars.

Somebody help me out here. I have this exact unit in my 2019 Tundra, but the weather widget doesn't ever display any weather - it only says "No Data."
More importantly, when I make/receive calls through CarPlay, the other person can hear me, but I can't hear them at all. I don't even hear it ring. If I call via simple bluetooth then it works perfectly. Everything else on CarPlay works perfectly, too.
I'm using the adapter from Crutchfield to use the stock GPS that was already in my Tundra, along with the Maestro RR.
Any suggestions?
make sure the radio, idata maestro and your Crapple are all updated.
When using the HDMI source input, can you send the video signal out of the Video Out to the rear monitors?
Ok so that’s a great question and the answer is no. It will not down scale to the composite video output. So what you can do if you want it to have It play on both you would need to get a HDMI splitter and send one signal to the radios HDMI input and the other one into a HDMI step down adapter then into the monitors

cable has to be 1080, 4k cable will not work with these.

Halo 9 was the first generation so they’ve worked out the bugs. Have you tried to update the software?

@@alijah21 I bought the Pioneer 9” version (7600nex) and had it for a while before returning it to Best Buy. It was really nice but OS wasn’t as smooth as this one (I ended up getting this unit right when it came out). It had features the KENWOOD doesn’t like Alexa and Hotspot connectivity, but both were not reliable in terms of being able to use consistently without glitches. Each brand has pluses and minuses over the other but I honestly enjoy my Kenwood more as it’s less glitchy than the Pioneer.

@@blacckylo Having the Kenwood for over two months now, I can say for certain that it’s a lot less glitchy then the Pioneer 7600nex, and other Pioneer head units that I’ve had with my iPhone. Pioneer head units and iPhones don’t go together well in my experience. Also, you’ll be happy to know that Kenwood just recently released a firmware update for this Kenwood head unit with regards to stability improvements.

has anyone put this deck in a Tahoe? does the shifter clear the screen? I just put a Sony 10" deck in my 01 hoe and the shifter sticks out in front of the display just a little but at least doesnt hit it
Ok we have done a few in that year range. In park it is in the way but in drive it’s clear
I had this installed in a 2015 Denali pickup. It does not sound as good as stock. I took it back to dealer because you only hear in dash speakers an it will not adjust. They played with it an now telling me I need to replace amp from stock Bose system. Volume is very low now. So far very in happy with this. Truck has 6 speakers an sub. When you fad to rear speakers still only hear front in dash speakers. Can anyone help. Don’t want to pay more money to make it sound right

this has 4v preouts and 1yr warranty , 1057xr has 5v and 2 yr warranty. excelon units use higher quality components when built, hence the 2yr warranty
