Those who are looking into buying one and doing a case transplant just look for the regular minitower version of this computer. That way you will have a standard micro atx motherboard and a regular sized power supply that can just be transferred to the new case
If you are cheap like me heres what you do, you take the oem power supply and tuck it somewhere, its gonna power all the oem stuff, then you take a normal psu and plug your gpu and whatever else in it, then jump the green and black wires on the 20pin to trick the psu into thinking its plugged in! Psa you can fit a 2 slot full width gpu in but you wont have front io audio nor front usb. Lmk if you have any questions, went thru the entire optiplex process lol

I’m in the process of building my girl a budget build , all she wants is sims 4 and some horror games. Have a 3010 sff i5-3470 Came with 6gbram, upgraded to 16gb ram. Running a GTX 1050 ti mini on the 240 psu as it’s not ran hard enough to reach limit. Waiting on a decent case for this , upgrading a psu is a struggle as I can’t find one that wouldn’t need a thousand adapters and works with the matx motherboard! Sweet vid.
After you got everything changed over, it definitely doesn't look like an OptiPlex anymore. 🙂 I have that same case. It's not very expensive and has surprisingly high build quality for the price. Weird that your fans don't work, mine all did. Though, my hub stopped working after a while, so I changed them out to some fans that allow you to daisy chain the RGB so that I can just plug it into my motherboard.
Some people dont like the green motherboard, i would probably get a black case, cause those are tinted and then use green rgb. And i would blend in really good

I have a salvaged sff 5070 but I'm going to turn into a dedicated NAS. Only problem is the motherboard shape is not standard it's not square like yours so I'm still hoping to find a case that it will properly fit into. But you proved it can be done so I appreciate that!
It can be done! I’ve seen videos on here In the past. It takes a little more work but I believe a couple of screw holes will line up, and if not, either way you’ll wanna mark where the holes are and use a drill so you can add more standoffs. It’s simpler than it sounds, you should be able to figure it out!

If you're only interested in the looks, that might be one option. But if you want to keep using more parts and maintain more flexibility, it's better not to get an SFF PC, but rather a regular desktop PC that can accommodate a normal power supply and normal graphics cards. And you can also paint or foil the case.

Nice, and yeah it depends on the game, I get like over 140fps on most games. Especially lower demanding ones like Roblox and Valorant, you can expect hundreds of fps. Minecraft, overwatch, csgo, etc

Honestly, at this price point, looks really matter. You can sell builds from $275 to $450, especially with upgrades like cable extensions, RGB lighting, and nice cases. I always make sure to charge AT LEAST $100 more than what it cost me to build. Some may think I’m charging too much, but building these takes time and effort. Plus, screw what others think-Walmart and Best Buy often overcharge for low-quality products. This is a better option at that price point, so I think it’s justified. Just price it based on what you think it’s worth, but don’t undervalue it.

Yeah you can always get windows 11. Upgrade from windows 10 for free or get a product code online for like $20. Lot of the time it’s not worth upgrading cpu depending on the motherboard you have there’s not many options.
Which fans? For the new case? It has a fan controller that you plug in to the fans. The case should come with instructions if your case has a fan hub/controller. I also went more in depth on my newer case swap video

I would recommend swapping out the cpu since that will be the biggest bottleneck and upgrading the ram to 16 gb as well

Yeah you can always get windows 11. Upgrade from windows 10 for free or get a product code online for like $20. Lot of the time it’s not worth upgrading cpu depending on the motherboard you have there’s not many options.
