@@Haddley333The reason the GTX 3050 is a piece of shit is because it's basically not an RTX card (you cannot play raytracing on that thing, no not even with upscaling) and it's so damn weak you practically need DLSS to play any modern game (which again, dlss kind of sucks, in my case I just barely tolerate upscaling on one device solely because ironically AMD has made my old nVidia hardware able to stay more current with FSR but I still hate upscaling, the only two reasons you'd ever even use FSR or DLSS is either because you're doing raytracing at 1080p and above, mostly 1440 and 4k, or you have ancient hardware from 2014 that can't play even older games with high setting without it) and yet memevidia sit there and rape us out the ass on the cost of the thing. There was a point within the last year that the 3050 cost the same as an RX 6650XT. The biggest reason why this is stupid is the 6650XT actually has far better raytracing performance too. So you're paying at the time like $240 for a GPU that's nowhere near the RT of a Radeon.
The 3050 is a $110 card to me right now. You can get 5700XT for like $150 right now iirc.

This is why I had a hard time trusting toasty bros, they'll make really yoba tier recommendations on hardware that's frankly just mainstream corporate recognized and makes me wonder how much toastybros is being paid by these companies which is why I trust GN, HWUB, techyescity, Wendel at Optimum and so on. I'm not talking about the 8gb, I mean the 6gb even won't be justified.
I would personally never recommend the 3050 new. It costs way too much money for complete ASS performance. The fact it has 6gb of VRAM is terrible. At that point I'd be looking for a GTX 980ti or something instead.
The reason the 3050 gets so much hate *is because the cost*. It cost way too much money on release and it's lowered prices more slowly than all the other GPUs, thus making many other GPUs a compelling buy, but still making 3050 a completely awful shite buy.
The fact that you guys can laugh off that burglary, and turn it into a hilarious ad, just shows you have got class, humor, and determination! Major props!

I think the issue with the card was the name. Its not just 2GB VRAM less, but less clock speed, bus, etc., which made it seem like an underhanded move by Nvidia. Same as the 3060 8GB really.
Yes I got shafted buying an nvidia laptop. I got caught up in the marketing with rtx 3xxx until I realized my vram was 4gb 😂 smh

I've since "upgraded" to a an optiplex 7010 I got for free at work. IT guys already put 64 gb ram and the mobo has the standard 24 pin power connector which is pretty weird for dells. Just upgraded the PSU and Radeon 6600 for $220

@@adlibconstitution1609 I'd recommend the RX 6600 based on my own experience with it. Can't state much about the RTX 3050, unfortunately.
@@adlibconstitution1609 I would go with the 6600 unless you need DLSS or NVENC. For just gaming, the 6600 will be the better card. Oh and also, 6600 requires external power, so make sure you have an 8pin PCIE connector for it.

I love this video. I’m new to the PC world, and just finished an Optiplex 7050 build: i7 7700, 1660 Super, 1TB M.2, and 32gig DDr4 RAM. I also added a 500W PSU that required very minor case alterations to fit (namely, cutting the flat plate by the stock PSU). Was thrilled to get 70 fps on titles like Battlefield 2042. Very cool to see other variations!

Thanks! I agree - the case will allow for a GPU with a max length of 221mm. Once I decide to invest more in gaming the GPU will for sure be the next upgrade.

My first PC build was with this exact CPU, but the GPU was an RX 6600 in a Prodesk 600 G2. I'd highly recommend such builds if you want to get on gaming as fast as possible for cheap.

I have almost the exact setup. Optiplex 7050 SFF with a i7-6700, 16GB RAM and a RTX A2000 which is basically the workstation version of the 3050. Runs games like Starfield and Cyberpunk surprisingly well.
The bumming of the glass to broke was a nice move!!

It would be interesting to see the low profile 3050 paired in some of the "newer" refurbished SFF Optiplex units that are coming out with the i7 8700 in it; how much of an uplift there might be going up to a 6-core 12-thread processor but still no external power for the GPU. Potentially better than a 1660 considering it would be somewhat DLSS capable?

You know whats funny. I undervolted my Zotac RTX 3050 Twin Edge OC 8GB and now its power consumption is only 5-10w more than the power conumstion rating for the RTX 3050 6GB. With my undervolt even if my gpu is at 100% is using 75-85w of power and the performance is still the same or even better.

Building a budget build with an Rx 580 later tonight - If I go to AMD's website under the 580 support page, it looks like they are recommending the newest drivers (24.3...) I've read to only use 23.11.1 or lower. Also, I plan on selling the PC after I build it. So if I get 23.11.1, with adrenalin software - will it stay at the driver? What if the user updates it via adrenalin because it says there is a newer one? Will Windows try to auto-update to a newer one than 23.11.1? Please advise the best thing to do?
It''s worth noting that the low profile 3050 6GB is the same price as the full size 6GB, they perform the same and will work in the SFF Optiplex systems, as long as you don't buy a 30 class model. Really, the LP models make sense at that price, but the full height cards should be no more than $150 to be viable when you have an RX 6600 at the same price.
Also, you could get some more FPS in thees games where the CPU is near full util by using something like ThrottleStop to max out the boost limit and the long a short power durations, which could bring those clock speeds up with the CPU being heavily utilized.
I have a GTX 1060 6GB. Would it be worth it to upgrade to a newer GPU that has 6GB of VRAM or get a GPU that has at least 8GB of VRAM?

@@BREEZYM6015 Well, the 3050 6GB is more of a side grade from a 1060 6GB and the same goes for the 1660 Super/Ti. If you're willing to spend around $190 for the 3050 6GB, just get the RX 6600. It leaves the 3050 6GB in the dust in every way.
RX 6600 requires external power though, and for some older office PCs that come with 200w or lower PSUs that could be an issue since the RX 6600 can eat up to 160w max.
@@BREEZYM6015 You just want to be careful with the things you adjust. Increasing the boost limit and the long and short power durations are pretty safe, and can help if you're getting high util. It can even help marginally if you're not. However, if you want to start really playing with a lot of the other settings, I would brush up what they all do before playing with it.

hello toastybros, i have a hp elitedesk 800g1( intel CoreI5- 4570, 8 gb ram and 128 gb of storage. What budget gpu could i pair with this and should i replace the cpu?
The best cpu you can put into that would be something like a 4770. Nothing newer. But that is still a decade only cpu and isn’t that much faster than your 4570. Not to mention the pc is a decade old and could have a catastrophic failure at any point. It only has a 320w power supply so the best gpu is probably the 3050 6GB used in this video since it’s a 70w gpu.
Idea: set up a wireless HDMI on the monitors that the cases are displaying from , and put gutted cases on the sales floor. send video from a master head unit to power the displays. Let them eat cake.

@@ro_diaz I think around 150$ idk cs my sister got it for me but it came with an i5-7500 and I was supposed to get 16gb of ram and 256gb of storage but I got 32gb of ram and 960gb of storage but I’m sure it would work as well with 16gb but it is a good pc just make sure to update it and make sure everything internally is connected properly and replace the thermal paste and reseat the ram

Just keep the stock heat sin. I threw on kyonaut thermal paste and a Noctua NF-R8 redux-1200, 80mm fan. Put that same fan as the exhaust. Runs whisper quiet and cool.
