First off great video! Secondly, to answer your question, you can absolutely build a 100% custom built gaming pc for $300usd. This was a good overall guide. The only criticism I have is you could have potentially bought a used or cheaper case/PSU and squeezed an extra $20-30 into a slightly better GPU.
wouldn't reccomend getting a second hand psu, i did that on an ultra-budget built (£100) and it fried the motherboard a few months after turning it into a low end server
Just a minor comment: I would have gone with the Cooler Master case... Since it's a DIY build, and it will probably be upgraded from time to time, it's my guess that a case like that would provide a smoother upgrade path towards more modern hardware... But can't blame you for picking the other case for the color though... I too sometimes wish more color variants would be available in the entry level market..
I wonder about the temps in that case... After all RX 580 is a 185W and the CPU 85W, with no airflow in the case, I don't believe that it wasn't thermal throttling.
4:58 well for one it's a flower cooler design, which is basically just a bunch of aluminium sheets pressed together at the base and then shaved off to make the cooling block. It's a very cheap process. Also, tip on PSU for the future: the Kolink Enclave series are incredibly cheap 80+ gold fully modular (!) PSUs that retail for as low as $40-50 for the 500W and 600W versions, *AND* they have a B-tier rating at Cultists Network, which is a *very* respectable rating. I use the 500W in my media center PC and it's doing a great job. If you get one just make sure it's the KL-G series.
My first pc back in 2020 was an optilex with a i5 3470(I think) that I bought on ebay and a rx 570. Earlier this year I found a newer optiplex with i7 4790 at a thrift store for 10 bucks and swapped over my gpu and power supply. Then 4 months ago I realized starfield was around the corner, I now have a custom built from the ground up pc that I greatly enjoyed building We all have to start somewhere

I build a 200-225$ PC for gaming and coding and used similar components(For example basically the same SSD and CPU Cooler), but I took a cheaper Power supply, Gigabyte GA-A320M-H(Rev 3.1) Motherboard, Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G CPU and 16Gb of GSkill 3200mhz RAM. Now I use integrated Vega 6 CPU and it handles most of online games at medium settings 720-1080P(COD Warzone 2.0 +-30-35 vFPS on low graphics settings and Warframe 60-65 FPS on Max settings). Also that motherboard has a feature to set up to 4GB of Vram for integrated graphics, and it has a big impact on performance. And Now basically I can upgrade for smth like rtx 3050 for better performance and enjoy it with my 200$ PC). PS: I forgot to mention, that ALL components are brand new.
Honestly you could also just mount the motherboard in the box if you don't have anything in your home that would be a hazard. as a bonus you can use a house fan for airflow.
Those 8 chip 580s are still rocking today (and the 1070s to be fair) where my old 6 chip 1060 6GB fell off a cliff 4 years ago. I'm not sure the modern cards will age well with their cut down dies.

You could go against tradition and turn the 80mm exhaust into an intake, since this design is reminescent of older PCs where the PSU was part of the cooling.
You can but the optiplex or workstation pc and the replace the case for that custom look .And keep in mind you don't have to do everything at once . I'm also planning to buy atleast 2 SSD's because the case is too small especially when the HDDs made it too cramped to work on.
Exactly dude, never trust dell motherboards. I had 2 die out on me and always have unfix-able problems like "USB ports not working", they are somewhat better now since you can bios recovery (if they're made after 2017) but still all those problems don't exist on other motherboards and if they do at least they have warranty. I wouldn't recommend anyone turn a dell into a gaming PC anymore now, after cypto crashed. Unless they seriously have no cash on hand.
Here in the UK we don't get such cheap prices on old office computers so they make no sense. AM4 is where it's at, at absolutely basic form you can get A320 PCBs for £20 (or as little as £15) but I would search out an MSi B450 Max board because they're all good, you can find the mortars for as little as £30 and should not spend a penny over £40 for a complete in box unit but you'll have to look hard to find a Tomahawk for £40, for some reason people (deluded people) seem to think they can flog them for £60 and over, they were only a hundred at launch, I know i bought one, and it came with Monster Hunter. You can get better cheap cases than this as well, I bought a mesh front, glass side panel box with 4 rainbow puke fans brand new and delivered retail for £30, it's even quite roomy inside for the cash and has a PSU basement for tidiness.
for this budget its best to find a used but already built PC, with some patience its way easier and more likely to get a decent gaming pc depending on your location ofcourse
Update, if you search hard enough. Find a tower with and i7 that at least a 8 generation with 6 cores or comparable, and get a gtx 1070 8GB or comparable gpu. Hopefully the psu is at least 450 watts. And you have a great budget pc for 1080p gaming.
I recognized that logo from the "brand" SSD comment. That's Dogfish Head Brewery's logo. I used to work at a bar for nearly a decade that sold their product, so it jumped out to me. I see that it's even called a "Dogfish" in the name of the listing on Amazon. While they do make incredible craft beer, something tells me they don't manufacture SSDs. Wtf?
I’d recommend hunting down an old Dell xps. If you are lucky you can get a 8900 for $50 and it has an i7 6700, ddr4 dims and supports m.2 ssd’s. And surprisingly xps mobo’s are not proprietary like optiplex’s. They have standard headers

with a little more money, u can add rx 580 for like £35 ish. Will make a huge upgrade
@@noobaofficial.a rx580 Is atleast 50 bucks
not every game stop lying
Love the editing and soothing voice. Build was fun to watch too. Subbed
the leaning psu when its mounted in that case scares me but this was an awesome budget build!
Love your sense of humour, will definitely sub and watch future videos. Keep up the great work ❤
Cheers mate 🙏 appreciate the support
Just built a pc and it's very rewarding when you get it to work, I almost cried when it didn't boot but I found out what the problem was, I almost shat myself because I spent a decent amount for each part 💀
Thanks, *JW.*
You did a great job.
Thanks AK. Appreciate it 🙏
I got a ryzen 5 pro 4650g with 32gb ram DDR4 3200mhz and GeForce gtx 1660 Ti 6gb graphics card and 600wats power supply. For only $235 dollars
What app or website did you get it on
those optiplex's are always good starters. it was my first gaming pc. paired it with a 750ti. was getting boring for a while, then just bought used rgb case and gutted the optiplex and transfered it to the rgb case.
im building a super budget emulation station / pc for my younger step brother and sister so they can do some gaming and have pc for them selves. i deiced to use this cpu from a few video reviews. this was a great video as well
Awesome vid man loved the oz cameo.
Thanks! He’s a legend
First off great video! Secondly, to answer your question, you can absolutely build a 100% custom built gaming pc for $300usd. I actually built one with all "new" parts for less than $300 ($293.88 total taxes and delivery included) on my channel. It even has a best-in-class c-tier psu from the psu tier list.
That's dope, does it use dedicated graphics at that pricepoint? Would love to see the spec list.
@@brianreynoso5459 Yes it included a dedicated gpu!
ryzen 5 2600
QZ-700 Cooler
RX 580 8GB 2048sp
MSI B450M A Pro Max
512GB KingSpec NVMe SSD
2x8GB Kllisre DDR4 RAM 3200MHz
Deepcool mATX Matrexx30 case
Thermaltake 500W PSU (best in class C-tier unit)
Total $293.83 USD w/taxes and delivery
This was a good overall guide. The only criticism I have is you could have potentially bought a used or cheaper case/PSU and squeezed an extra $20-30 into a slightly better GPU.
wouldn't reccomend getting a second hand psu, i did that on an ultra-budget built (£100) and it fried the motherboard a few months after turning it into a low end server
You should never cheap out on your power supply.
I agree with this, a 550w EVGA unit near me always goes for about 30 bucks. I even got my refurb Corsair 750w for only 50$ directly from Corsair
I had 3 of those thermaltake PSU 500 to 550,and 600 two of them 6yrs old still run fine
My first pc back in 2020 was an optilex with a i5 3470(I think) that I bought on ebay and a rx 570.
Earlier this year I found a newer optiplex with i7 4790 at a thrift store for 10 bucks and swapped over my gpu and power supply.
Then 4 months ago I realized starfield was around the corner, I now have a custom built from the ground up pc that I greatly enjoyed building
We all have to start somewhere
Great progression! This is kind of the ideal scenario I think people should go through. What if after that first pc you realized you hated it? Well you’re only like $100 deep instead of $1000 haha. Glad you love it!
I used that $40 cooler master case last month for an office PC build. Cheapest new case at microcenter.
I love your sense of humor man! Love your content!!!!! Just started haggling on Ebay and FB marketplace to upgrade my i5 8400, looking at am4 (5500 or 3600)
The PSU isn't a big deal cause it's not pushing it's limit even a 300w can run this spec, so until it's not overheating it's safe
Hey techsource, zachs tech turf, and toasty bros all use Apevia power supplies for their budget units. They're a super big fire hazard, so the thermaltake is definitely a better choice at least
Ended up getting the black Version of this case with the ventilated front panel so i was able to install 2 fans up front and 1 in the rear. The only game i play on PC is Minecraft (console fan for everything else) . I was pleasantly surprised with it and didn’t spend too much on it. I get around 80FPS with no mods and take about a 10fps hit when i load up my usual mod pack.
CPU: R5 3600XT $60
GPU: RX 580 $58
Mobo : B450m $49
RAM: OlOy 16gm ddr4 $34
Storage: crucial 500mb NVMe : $28
(Plus a extra spare 1TB 2.5hdd i had lying around )
PSU: EVGA 550w fully modular: $35
Case : micro atx mini case $34
Plus the other accessories (fans , Hubs cables etc) $25
Thats a sick color on the steamdeck in your background!
Thanks! I painted it myself 🙏
@@JasonWitmerYT I would say this build is decent overall but I agree, the motherboard feels like a ticking bomb at this point. I had a intel 3rd gen system and what got me to upgrade was intermittent USB issues..I believe the board was just dying lol. The RX 570 or 580 still a solid choice for cheap build or stopgap GPU though.
BTW the PSU is fine lol
I rocked that psu for 3 years before upgrading and no issues
I'm new to your channel and I think that you are doing great!
Yes sir, great video full of nice touches too, well done.. however the budget appeals to some of us!
Been running a thermaltake 500 watt PSU from black Friday of last year. It still runs just fine. I'm not sure where all the hate comes from. It's rated white so it's alright lol.
bought three RX 580 for 50 dollars each. They were mint condition, came in the original box with all the bells and whistles.
Fantastic!
thats a huge profit
I build a budget PC. I had some parts at home from Old PC. I had some parts scrap, and buy used. I bought the CPU, the GPU and fastening material for M.2 NVME Total: 215 Euros
that pny ssd is the same as my first one lmao, beautiful to see the thing getting some love
Bro held a press conference over power supply fr :)
FUNCTIONALITY OVER FORM LETS GOOOO
PS: I forgot to mention, that ALL components are brand new.
buy an rx 6600 instead of an rtx 3050(my suggestion)
I built my first budget pc during the pandemic with the same cooler master case.
Look for the HP 400/280 G1 MT, they use standard non proprietary parts, haswell as well 👍
Thanks for the tip!
Honestly you could also just mount the motherboard in the box if you don't have anything in your home that would be a hazard. as a bonus you can use a house fan for airflow.
I thought you buying the cube early in the video, it works.
Woo the XEON CPU is a dime bro good catch
as for the GPU DUDE it got a 256bit memory bandwidth so gold catch!
Those 8 chip 580s are still rocking today (and the 1070s to be fair) where my old 6 chip 1060 6GB fell off a cliff 4 years ago. It annoyed me so much I made sure I replaced it with an 8 chip card, I bought a 2060S 3.5 years ago and see no need to replace it yet, it's already outlasted the old 1060 in my machine, in fact it's the longest I've gone without upgrading a GPU. I'm not sure the modern cards will age well with their cut down dies.
I made a pretty good system for $300 was a really good deal on ali express on a x99/e5 2670v3 and 2 8gb ddr4 for $50 cooler for $10 a rx 5700 for $120 1tb m.2 for $40 got a good local deal on a cheap case with fans and a 600watt psu its pretty solid for 1080/1440p
I didn't think it was possible to build something that ran 1080p above 30fps for that kind of money, at the exact hardware age I'd expect... = Great content, subbed
I use the RX 590 in my 300 dollar all ryzen sleeper build. its still going strong, never had any issues
😂😂😂😂
@@Rebe-Caufman what, Im poor, the 590 is the best bang-for-the-buck GPU I can get. Though I think I did the right choice to spend more on the CPU, as it can still take something more powerful like a RTX 3090
i've just achieved to build one cheap gaming unit with a Dell Precision T3600 ( Xeon E5, 32 gb, 1 to hd , Quadro K5000, 620 w power ) bought 75 euros. I sold the Quadro 70 euros, bought a MSI GTX1650OC 6 gb for 69 euros ( refurbished ) , a 2 to ssd ( 60 euros ), and got a cheap and nice warmachine!! :)
My first pc build is also a budget Xeon build: an E5 2667-V4, an Ali Express X99 board, 24 Gb ddr4, a 512 Gb m.2, and a Sapphire RX 580 4gb. Obviously, Windows 11 is out of the question, but 10 (and any distro of Linux you like) runs fine.
11 will run on it, but it won’t be a vanilla install.
Managed to complete a budget gaming PC for 300 bucks including a 1080p 100hz monitor. Managed to make a bargain with cpu and mobo combo for 40 bucks from a friend that changed platform. I ended up with an i3 9100f, Rx580 8gb 2048sp, 16gigs of ram, went all out with the PSU and bought an Msi mag a650bn (for future upgrades), couple of ssds and fans. Really happy with my first ever Pc and can run any slightly modern AAA games.
@7:00
BOOM. Nailed it. Perfect answer.
I got 450 w power supply for my rtx 2060 and i7 9th gen and it works perfectly fine and everything is hella clean, idk whats wrong with power supply that you chose. Maybe people dont know its enough lol.
This is right here gentleman it's goldddd👌🏾🏆🏆🏆
Tbh I clicked for the blue case. So pretty!
I just built $250 gaming PC. i7 4790, Z97 board, 16GB DDR3-1600, Noctua NH-D15(single fan), GTX 1080 8GB, 480GB Intel S3500, 500 Watt Deepcool PF500, Zalman white case with glass sidepanel + 2 140mm +3 120mm fans. I got som good deals with some patience.
how the freak does this guys pc get more fps than my laptop from 2020.
Desktop components are just stronger than laptop, unfortunately

Just built a cheap build like this one
-MSI b365 pro VH
-Aerocool cylon mini (5€)
-Intel i3 9300
-Intel stock cooler
(Bought an uncomplete computer during a garage sale for 20€ and sold the PSU for 15€)
- x1 92mm thermalright fan (6,69€)
-Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 gb 2666mhz (22€)
-Crucial P5 plus 500Go (20€)
-RX 570 (40€)
450w semi modular cooler master PSU (25€)
-x3 120mm thermalright fans (6,90€)
(I had a 6€ special discount on Amazon)
=125,25€ = 133,46$
Very good one and thz price is so good and so cheap
It's crazy how you got all this working without a single ssd nor hdd even!
7:40 the video is time stamped thanks
thermaltake smart psus are not bad i have 450 watt one from like 15 years ago that still going strong
Reset the jumpers add a new cmos sometimes that helps.
thank you for using the rx580 8gb, I get mad when so many other inferior cards are used for this application!
Is be owning a $2400 pc and still be steady watching these
Please if you're on a really low budget, try to get an am4 platform. Try to go for bare minimum everything as long as it's am4 compatible. You'll have great upgrade path on it (like start with an a8 9600 or athlon 200ge then slowly upgrade one by one)
19 years, wow, people do amazing things. I am just 18 and look LOL. Still feeling like a irresponsible kid. good content man !
The rx580 8gb has aged like fine wine. Im still running it in my emulation arcade machine.
RX 580 is almost 7 years old gd what a beast
He's friends with OZ! Immediate subscription 😁
Bro is a legend 👏
@@JasonWitmerYT definitely, most relaxing pc build guides in existence haha
hey if the motherboard supports it the 2667v2 turbos to 4ghz and is a really good overclocker they also make new A75 boards that are cheaper and support nvme on that old platform
If you guys are going to build a pc at this price point aliexpress is going to be your friend because you can get motherboard, cpu and ram combos for 40 to 50 dollers just keep in mind that most of the combos on there are used and server parts but the cpus are normally have 6 to 12 cores so they wont be weak performers for the money
hope this helps!
Bought a Lenovo thinkcenter for $40, rx 580 8GB for $65, ssd for $15, power supply upgrade for $30. Very solid rig for $150. i5 4570, rx 580, 16gb ram, 1.12TB storage.
Please use MSI Afterburner (with graphs) for clarity and fairness of game tests.
Agree with the cube and the gpu, 580s a beast for 1080 and the case is pretty much just fine, i got a 500 to play with, more room so i use a couple 140s on the bottom for intake.
For $200, if you know what you plan on playing then that is an amazing build.
You could go against tradition and turn the 80mm exhaust into an intake, since this design is reminescent of older PCs where the PSU was part of the cooling.
You can but the optiplex or workstation pc and the replace the case for that custom look .And keep in mind you don't have to do everything at once . You can always start out with the optiplex,a graphics card and an ssd . And then you can start upgrading other things around it . During covid I actually built budget gamers and purchased led lit keyboards and mice am speakers from 5 below and sold the pcs for a good profit .
Please do a vr ready and on a hyper budget
Wait how did you have a pump shotgun and the enemy had the foundation’s MK-seven AR from chapter 3(fortnite) how long did this video take to render.
5 years
I had a similar issue with an h61 motherboard a couple years ago and I was able to find a more recent bios that fixed it. Was a challenge finding that stuff though since intel no longer supports their motherboards.
Heck, I used the masterbox case on my workstation/gaming rig that was about 8x the price of this build. It is a solid case
It’s solid for sure, I just hate the look of it haha
How is the aire ventilation, what are your lowest and highest temps?
I'm 15 and I just built a secondary PC for my family to use and spent just over 200 dollars. Specs are listed below.

512gb sata ssd
semi-modular corsair psu 30$(very good deal used)
gtx 980 50$
didn't buy a case... just put it on the desk.
Please buy a case lol
I'm blown away! ❤
Omg I love Oz whole vid worth it🎉

Just custom built my new pc for 130
Specs:
Mobo: Asus H81M-K
CPU: Xeon E3 1231 V3 with a mars gaming RGB cooler
Ram: 8gb 1600mhz crucial memory
GPU: RX 580 8gb
Storage: 2 512gb teamgroup SSDs
And a Bronze 80+ 550watts PSU
I had a time capsule here that was stuck in Win7. It was given to us and it's originally an Office PC.It's specs is..
MB: Gigabyte H61M-DS2 Rev 4
RAM: Unknown single stick 2gb ram.
It's surprisingly has 3 HDDs too.
Planning to install x2 8gb ram sticks with 1333mhz each, An i5-3570K CPU, an RX 580, and a 500W power supply because it's original has no connector for GPU.
I'm also planning to buy atleast 2 SSD's because the case is too small especially when the HDDs made it too cramped to work on.
You're really underrated
Oz is a class act
Pretty cool box
If you have a few extra dollars, thermal right coolers are very good for pretty cheap
Thanks for roasting my build. I've got almost the exact same machine with an i7 3770 and a vs550 psu
Wtf?
I am impressed
I miss the green component days.
Great video ,Thank you
