I just looked at the autopsies. In the personal items listed for each of them was cash in their wallets or pockets. The Medical Examiner took it on himself to help himself to his payment for cost of each autopsy. Isn't a ME paid a salary by the state or city? I found this to be really sleezy considering it was money taken off their bodies!

Waylon Jennings was also in Buddy Holly's band. Big Bopper asked him for his seat in the plane because he had been sick for a few days and wanted to get to the next town to rest. Waylon agreed which saved his life. Just before they parted ways Buddy told Waylon "I hope your bus freezes" to which Waylon replied
"I hope your plane crashes". He said later that he blamed himself for the crash for twenty years.

It could have been possible he was in shock. Obviously he wasn't, but there is that possibility that even with massive brain trauma you can get up and walk around. There's a story about a couple. (Graphic) One day their son bludgeoned both of them in their sleep with a blunt instrument. Both their skulls were pretty much caved in. The next morning, his father woke up, shaved, made breakfast and coffee, and then began walking to his car for work that day where he then collapsed dead due to his injuries. All the while he is literally gushing blood from his head, his brain like The Bopper's was visibly destroyed. It's not unheard-of for something like that to happen.

By the time they found the wreckage many hours later, in a frozen field, yes it is highly likely there was ice on the wings. Because there was ice EVERYWHERE by then. Had you been out in that field overnight, even you would have had ice on your body.

I'm old enough to remember these musicians and even though their style of music wasn't my favorite, I can sing along with the songs.
I got to thinking about the plane crash and how the three musicians received such horrific injuries that caused their deaths. So the plane hits the ground nose first it looks like from the photos I've seen. I've looked up what type of plane it was and there were large windows on the sides. The three boys were seemingly thrown from one side of the plane. I wonder about the massive head wounds. Did this occur upon impact or did it happen when they were ejected through the plane's windows?
    So sad.

"Pilot disorientation" is also what killed JFK Jr. as his plane was inverted and went straight into the water without him suspecting that anything was wrong. That attitude indicator also played a major part in the crash. Down was up. and up was down as far as the pilot could see on his only instrument that could save him and his passengers.

Whoever was in charge of the planning of that tour and lining up the dates for it was either a complete idiot or just didn't care. The tour dates were too scattered and very few if any of the dates were in close proximity. Had they just been able to go from 1 event to the next instead of darting back and forth, there wouldn't have been any problem but because of the poor planning and worse travel preparations those musicians were basically traveling 100s of miles through severe wintry weather with very little sleep or time between shows. That booking angency should've been sued blind by the families of the three musicians.
I wasn't born until 1989 but this was just horrible that people who were that talented and who meant so much to that era were treated like dirt by their own management companies.
