      You could try using litematica's "easy placement". Though I still won't fully resolve those issues, it'll just prevent connecting adjacent rails.

    Fascinating! I love seeing all the new speed-focused optimizations for cart-based MIS coming out.
    Another recent example being Toots_Thielemans with a concept for overcoming the strictly less than hopper speed constraint of Maizuma's categorizer by using cart yeeting and allay pickup to recycle the whitelist cart's blocker items faster. If you haven't yet, it's worth checking it out; the video is well-made and well-explained

    FYI if you are about to build this, ensure that you build it from bottom up and don’t need to expand it later. Upon trying to expand an existing system you will find that the rails update each other such that you need to rebuild several layers of the whole machine. (Correct me if I’m wrong)

    This took me the better part of a day to build IRL, in creative... but after finally figuring out all the components and the innerworkings of the system i gotta say, well done, can't wait for V2. 2 things to note if you are using the schematic for the second variant, without the normal chest input, the "throw items here" variant, you will need 8 additional glass blocks to close in the outermost cart destroyers and move the unsorted cart yeeter in 1 (closer to the main build) block so it lines up correctly with the corresponding cart destroyer track below.

    I would love to see this with a more traditional input that doesn't burn shulker boxes. Cart yeeting allows for quite fast box unloading already, it only needs to be synchronized with the despawn protection. Also, the 1-wide version is ginormous, surely there has to be a way to make that configuration more compact, similar to the MIS v4 and v5 1-wide layouts.

    hm, i wonder if i can use this as like a sorting system to unload certain items to a designated water stream, almost to how cubicmetre showed on one of his videos (can't remember which) where he uses a multi item sorter of his to identify whether an item should go to a bulk storage slice or to just a regular chest slice.
    the reason why I'm considering using this rather than cubic's is because as more and more items get added into the game, i want to expand the mis as time goes on to support more items and cubic hasn't really explained well enough how to expand his.

    I'm curious about people's experience with this now that it's been out a while, particularly recovery scenarios if loading issues occur. I've built Moony's MISv5, but struggling on the occasional unloaded chunk and the recovery afterwards. Looking through a gazillion droppers is painful (particularly ones I cannot see without removing components).

  • @lucidmoses
    @lucidmoses ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool and all but not very practical. Given all the problems with mine carts and chunk loading/unloading and what ever other reason the suddenly stop. Makes this what I would call a 'brittle systems'. I think that water pushing the cart will help as it will push it from a dead stop and get it started again. But the cars bunching up because the server can't load a chunk or the random tick-drops that the server does during a cpu spike would likely throw your timing off like the other multi item sorting systems. Have you tested any of that?

    • @inspectortalon
      @inspectortalon ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you aren't on fabric or vanilla those are definitely big concerns. If you are on those, recent versions are generally pretty stable with loading/unloading carts, and it is only really complete crashes that you need to be concerned about. Water helps with the complete crashes, but even without it it is fairly hard to break as is (and mistiming just mean the cart will end up getting sent to the unsorted slice). So while a little skepticism is definitely valid, I disagree that it is "not practical" at all. Just don't use paper... which is pretty hard to justify using now anyways.

    • @lucidmoses
      @lucidmoses ปีที่แล้ว

      @@inspectortalon I'll give you that 'not practical' is directly proportional to how much you enjoy fiddling/fixing red stone after the project is done. I'm also pretty sure these systems work on single player worlds when you stand around and wait for things to complete (as per their testing). But in the real world server spikes and chunk loading/unloading break a lot of 'brittle' red stone and stuff with mine carts topping that list.
      I don't use mods of any kind. I just try to make my red stone projects tolerant to vanilla servers. But I can't get away from hopper mine carts for collection in some of them. Which is a ton easier to fix now that you can get in a one high area but it's still annoying.

    • @inspectortalon
      @inspectortalon ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lucidmoses we tested this on servers and had lag tests. We also have others performing further testing to ensure reliability, and so far it has been fairly robust. I dont think these claims are substantiated by the data.

    • @lucidmoses
      @lucidmoses ปีที่แล้ว

      @@inspectortalonSee, I said nothing about lag as I don't think (but can't prove) that lag has anything to do with it. Even lag so bad it causes desyncs can cause the client to look goofy but as far a I know the red stone is still processed on the server side correctly.
      So, of course you are not going to convince me of that as I have first hand experience with it. However, are you saying that all the TH-camrs out there on vanilla servers are lying to there viewers? Especially the popular channels that have a lot to loose over being dishonest like that? And what about the few channels that deal with making red stone that is not 'brittle'.
      Is this all a big conspiracy except for you? :p

      @@lucidmoses you said "world server spike" which would only happen from lag, which is why i referred to it as lag. Popular youtubers aren't always the best informed, and I'm talking to you about newer versions which are more stable. Older versions had more issues with carts, but they are less common now (unless the server crashes, in which case all bets are off for any redstone). An ethos argument isn't really something to go off of compared to the testing that we have done to verify reliability under the constraints you are concerned about. People can be misinformed, including myself, so do not misunderstand me and take this as saying those channels are lying. Intent matters.
