This is on another level of cool compared to an M4 in my mind. Just that much classier! A much better everyday car as well, plus so much more exclusive. Great video as always mate.
Great Review Dude 👌🏽. I think you have pretty much summed up everything on the B4S. I was very happy by the way it drove 🙌🏽 in fact I wish I had it on a circuit to moved her about 😈, I'm sure you feel the same. Brilliant video dude 👊🏽.
Great review, I can tell the great amount of work and editing ! Your videos keep getting better and better, I hope you get tones of more views you deserve soon :)
Joe cracking video as ever and Alpina working wonders as ever...So true how they just keep making you love them more the longer you have them..brill camera and editing work as ever cheers
Alpina cars are something special. I've not driven any of the latest Alpina's recently but I recall the occasion when I was behind the wheel of the Alpina B3 'e36' model!
once again, another great review, a now consistent delivery from Joe..i just like how you really review while you actually do the driving on real out of city roads, perfect...looking forward to the next upload Achilles
Good man! You told me I would have to rewatch the last video to get more B4S content...Glad you were joking! Thank you for sharing, as always I really enjoy your work.
Hi joe another great vid I love the car. I haven't seen a 335d vs m135i yet I think it will be a good test 0-60, 30-70,0-100 etc etc look forward to your next video test thanks matt
Great review, agreed in racing video games sure give me the most stuff chassis with those perfect digital roads but in actual life on real roads with bumps and dips you want a more supple ride that won’t get too upset if leaned too hard.
Great review Joe, starting to think if I'm ever in the position to buy a car like that I'd go the Alpina route now! Any idea if you'll get your hands on a new b5 (hopefully touring) at any point? The stats on that look insane...candidate for best all round car on the planet I'd say! Keep up the good work
It is shocking to me that anyone not looking for simply a track toy would even consider an M4 when this is available. I have an M2 competition on the way, but if this were available stateside, I would spring for it no doubt. Simply gorgeous... and I think the color combo is on point. Looks like far nicer leather than BMW even offers in the 7 series.
Great review mate and what a car tops out at 190 that is crazy... but yet it can be used as a daily its like a grown up M4 and its more luxurious whats not to love.
What a fantastic car and a great video. Not sure if you realise Joe, but you've just highlighted what's wrong with BMW and what's so clever about Alpina. BMW don't seem to realise that ride and handling are linked, get either aspect wrong and it can totally mess up any car which is primarily used on public roads. It's ok fitting massive low profile wheels and tyres but if the suspension isn't sorted properly it really can ruin a car. I've felt for a long time that modern day BMW is all about making money and not about making the best cars they can. Hey ho, thankfully there is Alpina for those who actually understand what a decent car should be. Cheers man, all the best.
Hi Joe, the is no doubt about it this Alpina B4 S has a great sounding engine and exhaust note is also bang on and your wright this is stand alone product and for £60k I think it’s a bit of a bargain and the ride like you stated looks creamy smooth and I could see it wanted to play and give the drive the enjoyment with out ending upside down in a ditch. I’m still not sure why you can’t get your hands on press cars I think you have proven you can drive any car and drive it well you just need to keep banging on the doors if BMW & Alpina trust you what more do they need. As ever Best wishes Alan B
Quality review by a quality guy on an absolute quality car. Great stuff again Joe. Can just imagine what that fine vehicle would cost in Australia after the govt have their wicked way with it.
I went for saddle brown in my mineral grey D3 Touring, and it gets more positive comments than negative...I think its just different, and some people prefer a safer option. Mind you, I'm not sure of be happy with the stitching on the dash at 2:22...it looks like a blind person did it.
Thanks for another great review Joe! I so agree with you. What an elegant racer. True about the interior. I would prefer Oyster with dark green stitching :-) Keep on going with the Alpina stuff pls.
Was just thinking, how rare it is to see green cars nowadays! Looks very elegant, but best without those silly side stickers. Definitely more tasteful than an M4, even with those wheels that look straight from the 80s. Also sounds better too Imo. Definitely pick this over an M4!
soundseeker63 I had a 2016 Jaguar XE-S 3.0 Supercharged in British Racing Green and it looked superb. I had to legally reject it after four months though due to JLR’s ongoing issues with their InControl Touch Pro infotainment system simply not working (well documented on TH-cam!) - they’re still having issues nearly two years on with the new Range Rovers using the same system too. After going through a 2016 Merc C43 (rubbish build / “crabbing” issues / juddering wipers - all also well documented) and a 2017 Audi S5 Coupe (nice except for terrible driving position, seat comfort and lack of lumbar support despite 4-Way electric lumbar adjuster), I now have a brand new 2018 BMW 440i Coupe which I love. It is so much nicer to drive, more responsive and way more comfortable than either the atrocious Mercedes C43 and average Audi S5. Think I’ve finally found a decently designed and built car that is comfortable AND fun to drive!
I'll take the B3 S just for that added practicality. And who wouldn't want a comfortable, quiet 3 series that will also do 190mph and scare quite a lot of more exotic and expensive machinery.
Wonder why this is so much more expensive than the Derv Problem as ever stick the MPPK on the 440i then talk to Tony Lewis and the cost difference of this may be at least £25k maybe getting on for £30k which is crazy and thats bearing in mind what Alpina have done here and that makes it just impossible to justify unless you are minted, great vid Joe But as a B3s owner in 2004 how much Id love one..good luck Joe,Pete
Another great vid Joe, nice one! So the big question ........ which would win in a rolling race between this B4 and the M4 CP? You surely tested this while you had both at your disposal? ;-)
Great stuff as always Joe! Only thing missing is the top speed test in Germany. Does this also come as Allrad? I'd imagine it would break into the 3 seconds 0-62 then.
Another great video mate, nice one! But, I have a question about the push button shifters on the steering wheel as I've never had a chance to sit in an Alpina with them in before (sat in an e90 D3 BiTurbo once...really liked it...anyway, I digress), my question is; Do you have to actually have a really careful aim and press the silver bits marked + and - or is there more you can press, like a whole section that you have to click when you want to change gear? Cheers :)
The silver bits you see are not actually the buttons themselves. The buttons are on the back of the wheel where your index finger naturally sits when holding the wheel. The silver part is more just a marker I guess for where the buttons can be found on the wheel, and which is to change up/down.
Burnham76 Ah right, I've been looking at the E92 variant on Auto Trader as a post apprenticeship treat, and since I haven't had the chance to drive or even sit in one, I wanted to know... You're definitely rather lucky to be the proud owner of one, that's for sure.
Nice one Joe. Get the feeling you like this car a bit! Great machine with cracking all round road capabilities. How would you compare it to the D3? The only downside with Alpina are the centre cap badges which are susceptible to corrode after one winter making those beautiful classics look a bit shabby before they should. Alpina green has to be one of my all time favorites.
Cheers Joe! I still think the D3 is the best value ALPINA on sale, this is definitely faster and sounds better, more of a sports car regardless of body style.
Is the leather inside that particular model their Lavalina stuff? I've been speccing one and I'm not sure how worthwhile the Lavalina interiors are. Are there any options you'd say are indispensable?
'S' models are always significantly better then previous versions. Even if we have a look on E46... 280PS vs 305PS makes a big difference but sadly it's reflected in price of 'S' model :(
Jason Wright If you watch Joe's interview with the CEO of Alpina he'll explain why they don't make them. Basically all down to the cost it would end up having.
+Cristian Cristin I have asked ALPINA for a DS5 but unfortunately they sold their demo... It would mean flying to Germany in the new year, but German versions use a different engine so that wouldn't make sense. I'm also dying to film the new B5. Big shame :-(
Joe Achilles ok ;) i understand that sory for language anyway;)) I wach you togheter with Andreas bovensiepen review with Alpina B7 was ameizing reviw very interesting good job !!! I aspect you în future with bmw alpina xd3 2017 the new version good look and good road! Thanks for explicit videos keep always like that! ;))
From the exterior it really is, inside you only hear real organic sounds whereas the 435 has the sound box that produces engine sound through the speakers.
I just wonder how the carscene will change now everybody in Europe is obligated to have a blackbox from May 2022 on new cars and from 2024 all cars even older ones if possible, I wonder if fast cars will still be bought seeing this blackbox will store all that data and they could and probably gonna give you fines at the end of the year when they read it out.
I always wonder (and have written it in some reviews) why Alpina insists on using that ugly bulky steering wheel (that goes with every base model BMW) while BMW itself offers the nice and elegant 3-spoke one (with the small round center) that goes with the M cars. Of course it's just my opinion but this one seems like one of the ugliest ever while the other one is maybe my fave of any brand...
I think you'll defo be on top gear at some point joe, best car review's with out fail 👌🏾
Haha thanks buddy far too kind, think you're up for that job too man! Can you imagine, you, me and Sid haha
agreed
i realize it's quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream new series online?
@Kohen Mordechai Flixportal :)
@Harlem Zahir thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) Appreciate it!!
I certainly prefer it to the M4, it’s much more graceful.
Great review, Joe! I have a B4 and just took a tour through the Alps - you really do those cars justice!
This is on another level of cool compared to an M4 in my mind. Just that much classier! A much better everyday car as well, plus so much more exclusive. Great video as always mate.
Agreed mate! Cheers
Don’t forget more practical.
Cheers buddy, really looking forward to your video now :-)
I would love one of these but have yet to see one for sale in the UK at a reasonable asking price, they’re demanding more than an M4!
Cannot tell you how much I want an Alpina - all because of your videos Joe! Great work, keep it up 👍
This was just an outstanding review! It was a pure joy to watch!
Thank you, glad you liked it 🙏
Another great vid Joe and congrats on avoiding saying 'That's what she said' :-)
Haha how did I manage to do that! ;-)
Awesome review. Love the cheeky bit of oppo at the beginning along with the drone work 👍 Is the really low level panning shot from a drone too ?
Really informative review fella great job 👍🏻 making me want an Alpina now!!
Cheers buddy, hopefully see you soon!
Video quality is like the car's quality, top notch!
Another amazing video! Your production work is the beat!
once again, another great review, a now consistent delivery from Joe..i just like how you really review while you actually do the driving on real out of city roads, perfect...looking forward to the next upload Achilles
Cheers, yeah I'm slowly getting the hang of talking whilst driving fairly hard... :-)
Good man! You told me I would have to rewatch the last video to get more B4S content...Glad you were joking! Thank you for sharing, as always I really enjoy your work.
Loving the steady progression in production quality, Joe!
Amazing video! Really thanks a lot for warming up our petrol harts! I really enjoyed this. Hopefully I'll be driving those roads in Wales soon
One of the most stealth underrated cars ,it’s my dream car ❤️
Great review again Joe. Very natural when your talking to camera 👌👍👌👍
Great video so love the Alpina cars. I drive past Sytner Nottingham every day and see that car on the front it looks stunning.
Oh my days, that colour is absolutely gorgeous.
great review once more Joe!
you really got the Alpina virus like me ;-)
and you really know what Alpina is all about!
keep up the good work!
Great review Joe. Great review and as a BMW owner like yourself a very thoughtful analysis.
Thank you 😊
Great Video Joe as usual I really agree with Ricky all the way to top gear and I hope soon!
Haha Cheers man, would love Ricky to be right, would love him on the show too!
Great review Joe. That car is perfect.
Hi joe another great vid I love the car. I haven't seen a 335d vs m135i yet I think it will be a good test 0-60, 30-70,0-100 etc etc look forward to your next video test thanks matt
What a great looking car! Great review Joe!
Again Joe.... top video. Keep it going.
Cheers Mark!
Another great video Joe. Love that color. Would love to see it more on BMW'S.
Great video as always Joe. Will you be doing a complete M4 review from the car you had? Keep up the good work. Massive fan
Great review, agreed in racing video games sure give me the most stuff chassis with those perfect digital roads but in actual life on real roads with bumps and dips you want a more supple ride that won’t get too upset if leaned too hard.
Stunning car stunning video still have a M4GTS keep up the brilliant videos
Cheers! The GTS is twice the money though, for that money I would have a AMG GTR
Great video joe! What an epic spec! Hopefully one day but currently only 21so.. 💔 😂
Great review Joe, starting to think if I'm ever in the position to buy a car like that I'd go the Alpina route now!

Well done ! Stunning work. Good watch with my coffee lol
Great video. Love the Alpina content 👍🏽
Good engineering made great. Great stuff, Joe👍
So true! Thank you!
Not your cuppa tea and the interior is tea coloured eh! Unintentional pun ;) Great video Joe, big soft spot for Alpinas!
Another first class video.
Great video Joe, well done

Wow those roads at night time must be awesome to drive in!

Quality review by a quality guy on an absolute quality car. Great stuff again Joe. Can just imagine what that fine vehicle would cost in Australia after the govt have their wicked way with it.
there is an Alpina importer in Australia since last year i think, so you can easily ask prices!
I've got a B3 biturbo and it does 9.5 to MPG, not happy, just got it.
Another great review mate! Lovely car and I do like the interior although I understand why it can be a bit marmite.
Cheers man, yeah it's a marmite colour ;-)
I went for saddle brown in my mineral grey D3 Touring, and it gets more positive comments than negative...I think its just different, and some people prefer a safer option. Mind you, I'm not sure of be happy with the stitching on the dash at 2:22...it looks like a blind person did it.
Can't wait for mine to arrive....
Thanks for another great review Joe! I so agree with you. What an elegant racer. True about the interior. I would prefer Oyster with dark green stitching :-) Keep on going with the Alpina stuff pls.
Great video. Those roads look amazing 👌🏽
Love my alpina d3 biturbo, these cars are for people who love driving,,
Back for more of my love.... Alpina
Quality presenting, quality content, quality car..... great job as always Joe. (Now, where can i find £70k!)
Nice piece of kit, Joe!! Which road was that you were driving on??
Was just thinking, how rare it is to see green cars nowadays! Looks very elegant, but best without those silly side stickers. Definitely more tasteful than an M4, even with those wheels that look straight from the 80s. Also sounds better too Imo. Definitely pick this over an M4!

Great thing about alpinas in the US is that you can pick one up used for a fraction of the Msrp. Which I don’t understand but hey...

James Wingrove I opted for the paddles on my D3, but wonder if I should have kept the buttons for true Alpinaness!
Burnham76 Ah right, I've been looking at the E92 variant on Auto Trader as a post apprenticeship treat, and since I haven't had the chance to drive or even sit in one, I wanted to know...
You're definitely rather lucky to be the proud owner of one, that's for sure.
what a nature around, crazy
What is the colour of the interiour ? I am interested in a B4s and i absolutely love the colour of the interiour.
Great review....
Superb !

Does anyone know how does the steering feedback feels in comparison with a traditional hydraulic rack from BMW 15 years ago ? Like a 1M or E90 M3.
Is this black mountain in Wales
What’s their rationale for the buttons instead of paddles?
'S' models are always significantly better then previous versions. Even if we have a look on E46... 280PS vs 305PS makes a big difference but sadly it's reflected in price of 'S' model :(
Alpina should do there version of the 1/2 series!
Jason Wright If you watch Joe's interview with the CEO of Alpina he'll explain why they don't make them. Basically all down to the cost it would end up having.
Can you spec an M Sport steering wheel?
Hi;)) can you take the Alpina DS5 2017 please!? And describe all you can about this car please please!!! Thanks
+Cristian Cristin I have asked ALPINA for a DS5 but unfortunately they sold their demo... It would mean flying to Germany in the new year, but German versions use a different engine so that wouldn't make sense. I'm also dying to film the new B5. Big shame :-(

is it AWD?
cheers
+Siemen Dilissen No, we only get RWD version in the UK
I want one
I can buy a 2015 B4 60k miles OR a manual 2018 240i with 600miles for around the same price. Which one should I go for?
The APLINA if it has main dealer warranty
Joe Achilles the 240i comes with 4y dealer warranty, the B4 with 2 year dealer warranty. Thanks for your input! I will break my head some more today.
@@bartvandergracht8019what did you choose?
The Alpina one needs. Haha
is it much louder than the stock 435i?
From the exterior it really is, inside you only hear real organic sounds whereas the 435 has the sound box that produces engine sound through the speakers.
its purpose is to be more luxurios so probably not
Jonathan Ramirez it definitely is a lot louder.
Green is the patrician car color.
Sheers!
DAAAAAAMNNNN

6th time im saying😂
Thank you and thanks for watching! :-)
Roninmobile.

Did I just watch a nearly 20 minute Alpina ad? This isn't a review, Joe...
