I installed the IAG AOS... first off let me tell you, love the system, easy to install. Second you will notice right away - I am running Stage 2+ oil smell and excessive white smoke. Perrin makes an item that they include in their system that all AOS systems should include to handle the turbo sump issue. Just a recommendation to get that part if anyone is installing this on their car.
for those not in the loop, an aos or catch can helps decrease carbon build up on intake valves for vehicles with direct injection. if you have a port injection motor the fuel injectors do a good job of cleaning intake valves with gas so this system isnt as important.

I recently checked my tmic for oil residue, no oil, so it holds up well for normal driving. I believe the IAG is more for auto crossing.

Would you recommend getting an AOS if you live in a cold climate and use Flex Fuel? I've heard that those 2 things can each cause sludge buildup in the lines which leads to them needing to be replaced every once in a while. My thought is if you have both of those at once doubling the buildup would it be worth it to even get one in the first place with how much you would have to replace the lines? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't own my WRX anymore, but I miss it so much I'm in the process of getting another one lol. Have always loved your guys vids!
Yes, an AOS is even more recommended if you're running flex. As for the cold climate, you just want to make sure to warm your car up properly as condensation may freeze in the lines.
Honestly we recommend not modifying your car if you are worried about your warranty. Even though a part may not directly void your warranty, your dealership may still give you a hard time if something were to come up.
Wouldnt either one of these systems (Catch Can or AOS) help vehicles with only Direct Injection a lot? I heard that's why a lot of VW guys run them and is the reason why I'm definitely looking for one for my 2018 Crosstrek. Just for longevity and peace of mind.
For the AOS, is this something that you'd peg as necessary right away or is it more something that you use as a vehicle ages? Like would you go slapping this on a brand new car or not so much?
I've just got a 2019 STI as well and my tuner highly recommends the installation of an AOS even on a brand new stock vehicle. It is a worthwhile investment.
@@SubiSpeed Okay that is fair. Does it have warranty implications or not really? From what I understand, it doesn't seem like it's something that could hurt anything...
Check your warranty agreement with Subaru or your local dealer. To answer your question, I would install an AOS ASAP if you typically drive the car hard, even if it was a new car. If you drive very conservatively and stay out of high boost then you will be fine without it for a while. Over time, if you check your intake component couplers you may notice oil starting to accumulate. Your throttle body or intercooler/piping could also show signs of condensed oil accumulating. It becomes more apparent with increased "blow-by" caused by high boost pressures, wear on piston rings' and cylinders' seal (tightness?), and prolonged operation in higher revs. Without the AOS or catch can, it is recommended that you clean any excess oil out of intake components as part of general engine maintenance. The AOS helps reduce the amount of oil vapor that would otherwise have made its way into the intake. As was mentioned in the video, excess oil vapor mixing back into the intake supply can lead to carbon deposits and lower effective octane level. What he didn't say is, risk of knock or pre-detonation increases with lower octane. Knock/pre-detonation is an explosion in the combustion chamber off timing, or when it's not supposed to. It causes destructive interference in the crank rotation and can lead to severe damage to vital engine components (think explosion but no where for the explosion to go, so cylinder pressures skyrocket until exhaust valves open). Avoid knock.
I had the Cusco catch can on my sti and it did not catch anything until my engine blew up (cyl4) and then it started to catch oil. I have upgraded to the IAG aos after the rebuild per recommendation and it SEEMS to work better ie, its catching blow-by.

@@SubiSpeed don't mess with my head. I have been getting stuff for the wife's 15 fxt and I'm super jealous with all the products you have for that model.
Do i need a tune for this one ?
Go ahead and do spme research 🤷🏻♂️
Access port giveaway anytime soon?
Probably not :(
What kind of "rally ish" tires do you recommend?
Gonna be completely honest, I haven't really done a lot of rallycross or anything of that nature so I couldn't comment on that.
@@SubiSpeed What about general offroad or snow tires? Thanks
For snow tires you can go with Blizzaks or if you're looking for a very affordable snow tire take a look at the General Altimax.
@@SubiSpeed Thanks!
Install video please!! Many videos out their but aren’t really showing how to do DIY.
I do have a question regarding the Invidia Q300 if anyone else would like to chime in please do so. I have a 2015 STi with a Q300 and noticed the passenger side exhaust vents/smokes more than the driver side exhaust. Is this normal? Any idea on why??
I'll do my best!
As for the exhaust question, the exhaust gases will always exit through the shortest / path of least resistance which is why you see it come out more on one side rather than the other.
SubiSpeed Thanks!! The Q300 seems to be split evenly in the center to both exhausts which I find strange for it to smoke uneven

Why so many install videos on wrx than sti?
Since the WRX is the newer platform with a new engine, there have not been many videos covering installs. Whereas the STI has plenty of videos out there since it is an older platform.
SubiSpeed so the engine bay are all the same? Where fitment and putting everything on the right place are the same as all?
The engine bay itself may differ a bit but the engine itself is the same and installs will be practically identical if not very similar.
Pants or shorts?
Shorts.
@@SubiSpeed kilts 😎
Why doesn’t the STI have a shift stop? I have a 17 STI but there are only shift stops for a wrx.
The STI shifter design is different than the WRX and doesnt allow for one.
Moroso advertises their product as an AOS but its more of a catch can in comparison to the IAG right?

I have a question, whos the dummy paying 450 bucks on a metal cylinder with a filter inside?
All the good people are gone now. Looking back is sad. Nobody watches anyone
Hey what’s up
Just trying to stay warm here in Iowa. What's up with you, Danny?
Trying to stay safe with the 8-9 inches of snow we’re getting her in MN 😂
We're getting beat up down here as well so we know how you feel!
Can you turn the music down so the music is not louder than your speaking voice? Almost lost my ears just now with that intro.
Gotta make sure you're awake!
@@SubiSpeed let me sleep until the air oil separator part starts.
First like!
Sooo aos is for lazy ppl that dont want to check/empty a can and dont mind that junk being dumped back in the engine, and a catch can is for ppl that dont want that junk dumped back in the engine/arent too lazy to check and empty a can? Lol
Not at all lmfao. This was a hilariously ignorant response tho
@@sastsxx just what the video made it seem like.
I think the video is saying a catch can wont return the substance back to the engine and needs to be emptied from time to time, while the aos does not require emptying but returns the substance back to the engine. Maybe i watched a different video 😂
