@@ShazeemKhan You can still use an AVR. You would turn the crossover setting on the sub as high as possible and let the crossover on the AVR handle the bass management assuming your AVR has a dedicated sub output. You would just connect that with RCA to one of the stereo inputs on the sub.
Generic class ab amp used in other subs brands, remember these transistors from 80s lol. Not bad sub for this price for sure, in EU its like double the price.
this is an irony that cost double the price because Heco is german company. For example Elac DBR62 pair costs around 400 euros in europe and in US they are 700 usd, this should also be the case for Heco.
Wow! You are using a scope now! Did you know you can use that to measure slew rate by looking at square waves? Micheal Beeny does that on his channel and it’s pretty cool.
Hey, could you please also take a look at the RSL Speedwoofer 10E? It costs a little bit more coming in at $300 and you get more power. Would be good to compare.
I have no plans to purchase a RSL Speedwoofer 10E unless they want to send me one for review which I think a few my subscribers already tried and they weren't interested. I would recommend that you buy both subwoofers and return the one you don't like. Both companies have a great return policy for this reason. However, I'm pretty confident that the Heco subwoofer would have higher SPL and more bass authority because of the bigger piston area (12" vs 10"). For $229 its a great subwoofer!
@@generationbehindhifi I could send you mine at the end of the season if you can do what you need to do without any damage. I’d pay to ship it to you if you’d pay the return shipping.
@@generationbehindhifi Thanks for the insight. Maybe I will try the Heco sub. Another one to compare would be the Dayton Audio SUB-1200-12. Lower cost and power but I wonder how the SPL and bass authority would be compared to this since they would be both 12".

Nice find. But it has to be really assessed based on its msrp, not a blowout sale. Dealer is probably dropping the brand indefinitely due to poor sales, hence the dealer prices.
@@johanostrom1626 The Aurora line is a step up from the Victa series. Check out my Cerwin Vega LA365 (same as Victa 702) look inside video. I like the Aurora line much better than the Victa. Absolutely! The Polk XT12 was a great subwoofer at the sale price during that time, but when I made that video the Heco Aurora sub was still selling for $500 or more. Now that Amazon has discounted the Heco sub to $229 I would highly recommend this subwoofer over the Polk XT12. The Heco subwoofer has a much better amplifier, driver, and cabinet vs the Polk.
Hello and thank you for another awesome video ! Am stuck in between this subwoofer and the klipsch SPL-120 which is also on sale for $360. Any comments on which is better ? Thank you !!
Thanks! I really like Klipsch's new Reference Premiere line. If you can stretch the budget and get one of those subwoofers you should. They are very nice subwoofers for the money when on sale. I haven't broken down a Klipsch SPL series subwoofer yet, but have heard them. From what I remember they sounded a bit one note-ish to me. I also remember them having some port noise during heavy bass scenes. Amazon and Klipsch both have great return policies so maybe buy them both and return the one you don't like? Happy hunting!
I can stretch the budget for the klipsch but I can't decide, I recently discovered the RLS speedwoofer 10e for $299 and seems to have nice specs, it's only a 10" driver though but goes down to 25hz. Any experience or thoughts on that subwoofer? Thanks

Manufacturers need to stop mislabelling this switch. The term in phase for setting polarities is also incorrect. It should be referred to as in polarity or out of polarity. It should be industry standard for this switch to be labelled correctly as polarity. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine when I see those switches labeled as "phase". Rant over.
The difference is in the amplification. Elac uses Class D amps - efficient for heat distribution but never handles any complex music correctly unless you invest over $3000.00 on a Naim. Even top line JBL receivers use Class D amplification and the distortion ratings are completely unacceptable for any audiophile. Try hooking high efficiency speakers to them and the distortion is audible.
@@Audiomainia2310class D amplification can be superior in subwoofers (and all applications for that matter) due to their high damping factor, efficiency, compact size. The best subwoofers in the world use class d amplification.

An LFE input or crossover bypass would have been nice for people using an AVR but it’s a hell of a value and nice looking too.
Pardon my ignorance but will the lack of those prohibit use on an AVR?
@@ShazeemKhan No. Majority of people use stereo RCA inputs when connected to their AVR and cross the subwoofer over at 80Hz. Very few use LFE.
