finally someone said it, the community has always been flooding with drama videos and it gets annoying when people are one sided

    FINALLY
man I swear I’ve seen way too many people get deplatformed for stupid reasons (mostly people doing stuff in the past when they where kids and people going through their stuff from years ago and cancelling them), even after they apologised and aren’t doing said thing anymore- or even worse they outright lie about what they’ve done.
It actually makes me scared to grow a community cuz I don’t wanna get send death threats :,-)

Can relate, my worst fear of all is to be called out in public for making a mistake. It kind of already happened before, but everyone knew what happened and the video was taken down after I made a reply (Wich is now deleted, that story embarrasses me.) To my luck I wasn't that popular back then so everyone just forgot about that, but that fear of cancel culture is still there. I mean, awareness videos are completly valid if the person was already called out before and it's made with the consent of the people involved, but if not then these people could at least DM that person first. Behind those screens these artists are no celebrities or movie stars, they are human beings who makes mistakes like all of us. I don't mean EVERYONE is innocent, there is definitely monsters out there who deserve to pay the consequences, but people should think before aiming hate to someone for no reason. At'las, drama and stuff is something PRIVATE in real life, NOBODY outside of your friend/family group wants to know about your social issues or what cringy things you've been doing. Showing these events for the whole world to see in such a cheap way is ridiculous and humiliating, it feels like school gossip sometimes.

there are some things that shouldn't just be forgiven so easily

I think not forgiving someone and keep sending hate are two complete different things. I dislike people, LOADS of people, but I'd rather just move on with me life instead of sending hateful comments. As long as they and their drama have nothing to do with me I can just leave it be, never forgive or support that one person.

To say you're 16 you clearly have a very intelligent and grounded head on your shoulders. You discussed the issues with this trend in a very ammicable and realistic way, in 15 minutes you said what's probably been on everyone's mind. Tbh this whole thing feels like highschool polatics, I have to question how and why these people (who are often in their 20s and have jobs) act like they're still in school. Being 20, I find most people my age aren't as mature or level headed as you. It gives me hope that the younger people in this generation have seen through this nonsense and just aren't going to put up with it anymore.

it's even worse when the callouts include things that have nothing to do with why that person is bad and passing it off as objective.
Things like bodyshaming, claiming they fake an identity or disorder just for not being stereotypical presenting, their artstyle being "ugly", or or other unrelated stuff like "having a messy room inherently makes you an abuser".
In the long term it does nothing to help against the case of the one being called out, and instead makes viewers who happen to share some of those unrelated traits feel like crap and give up on their aspirations.
    Everyone loses!

    tw: abuse and victim blaming.
I remember seeing a drama of a person exposing an artist (who is an ex-friend) just becuese for being abused by their ex-boyfriend. I'M NOT KIDDING, literally that person exposed the victim, not the abuser, and I can't explain why that makes me feel so angry.

And the thing is, is that some ppl try to hide behind the words

Honestly, i find the whole drama side of community or comentary content generally a bad thing. I noticed in myself it makes me more irked, negative and prone to agressive/defensive responses in situations where its not an attack or negative on that point. (That being said i think commentary content dose have a place an importance the exixution and tone is just diffrent)
Ive been seeing more lately too, guess the algorithm decided it was drama time. :/ luckly their is the not interested button.
The midle of the line is increadibly true even well outside the art commentary or drama communies. it's saddening seeing a world promoting acceptance in the end only polarizing itself when most are middle of the line. :T

great video, i absolutely agree. it reminded me of a situation during Dream grooming allegations (I do not care about peoples opinion on him btw, not a fan myself - it doesnt matter); a video covering the situation popped up in my reccomended, so i watched it hoping to hear something new - nope. It was supposed to be a 'spreading awarness' video according to the creator, and when I watched it the guy FULLY COVERED the side of the alleged victim, while about Dream's side he just said 'Dream wrote a statement where he basically said xyz' without even showing his statement so people could read it for themselves to make a judgement. It was clearly biased and constructed in a way to make Dream look bad without letting people form their own opinion. (If i recall correctly, this situation was proved to be false, but even if it did turn out to be true i still think the video was crappy and you shouldn't make biased 'awareness videos' on such SERIOUS allegations that could potentially ruin someone's life.)

    • @Qwizz
      @Qwizz  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

this raises a good point of how important it is for an awareness video to be unbiased. EVEN if you support one side more than the other, you should still at the very least provide a detailed account of both arguments, or youre defeating the purpose of making an awareness video at all.
i dont watch dream so i didnt do much extensive research but as far as i know he IS a bad person who has said some bad stuff, but that doesnt mean you should completely disregard that side of the argument. to form an opinion you NEED to know both sides. full stop. even if seeing the opposing argument might not change your mind, to be fully aware of what's going on, you need to know what both sides have to say.

More stuff would come out about that situation, the alleged victim now ALSO has grooming allegations against her and several people have come forward debunking her claims, herself included as she apparently said she made it up it up for clout.
Additionally both he and the victim said they were going to court, and people were upset he and the alleged victim didn't come forward to explain what come out from that. And people who openly say they're ignoring that fact because just because the court said he's innocent doesn't mean he is in their eyes

You're so right!! I feel like these types of videos/responses are only justified if the person being criticized is a serious threat. Like, if the person has done really, REALLY bad things and will continue to do so if they're not called out. Videos that make a big deal about petty things with shaky evidence are annoying.

I am so sick of these, I get like 10 reccomened which are even reactions to said videos... most come from after a new episode of Helluva Boss comes out and ofc internet can't rest until Vivziepop gets cancelled like 10 times the same week -.-
Ofc there are tons of other ppl videos like that call out, anything from stealing a character to horrible things that I dare not even speak of. It's just pure fuel for drama against strangers.. people just eat it up and truly believe they know everything that happened cuz some random yt guy said so and gave them screenshots of out of context convos.. It's so disgusting
Someone please burn it with fire, it's so toxic and useless. People could legit make fake callouts and ruin ppl's lives (probably already happened multiple times) and legit get paid for it cuz of countless clicks their clickbait got hhhh
It's good to have awareness videos for serious threats but not some random person who did xyz oopsie 5 years ago that resurficed cuz they broke up with the "victim" or something -.-

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's aware about this problem. It's not only just a problem in the art community, it also happens in other communities too. This type of thing often happens a lot in the internet. I don't like it when people decided to silence and make a whole ass rant about someone who has done a small mistake or a mistake that they have done in the past and already apologized properly.

This was on my youtube front page. I think you made very clear points and presented your thoughts well. It makes me glad to see this type of content; it's not just expressing how or why drama-based content farming is bad for the community, but also in a broader sense is advocating for CRITICAL THINKING. One of the first steps in critical thinking is to ask, "is this source biased? what is the motivation of the person making this video?" and you basically covered that.
One of the most effective ways I've been able to combat this in my personal interactions with people is that when someone says "oh, so and so is a bad person" or "this artist got cancelled" is to respond by asking 1. what SPECIFICALLY did this person do? and 2. if the allegation is specific and serious, to ask for the proof. Never accept vague responses or "I heard about it" "I saw a video, i don't remember the details just know that person is bad" etc. If you confront people spreading cancellations and callouts, it forces them to be more critical in their own thinking and they will be less inclined to pass on vague rumours and judgement the next time.

I think a lot of people need to familiarize themselves with the idea that sometimes people can be jackasses without them being evil + needing to be deplatformed. Sometimes people are just rude or selfish, and I’m not saying it’s an excuse for them to be an ass, but chasing them off the internet for it is… excessive. There’s been more than once where I’ve enjoyed a person’s art but disliked the way they talked, or disagreed with them, and I don’t go around trying to make callout posts about them.
As long as people aren’t doing Genuinely Harmful Shit (ex: bigotry or pedo/zoo shit) just… relax. Step back and breathe. Don’t get involved in what doesn’t already involve you. You will be much happier, I promise. People can be kinda shitty without being actively harmful. Hell, a lot of times people don’t do shitty things intentionally. It’s always best to assume ignorance before malice. No one’s perfect. Give your fellow human some grace.
    I dunno man. I’m tired.

It always irks me when people monetize their really bad callout vids. It’s Important to be careful that sometimes the dramas can progress to far that it’s not even about the main topic anymore. I am hesitant of making videos calling someone out instead of making community posts because it’s extremely draining and exhausting and making posts helps getting my thoughts out more accurately.

The thing about cancel culture is it only works if the person being cancelled lets it work. Time and time again youtubers get cancelled and they just continue posting, or just find a new audience thats cool with whatever thing they did.
People who argue against "cancel culture" always fail to acknowledge that it came about because no one online was ever accountable. People got away with acting like monsters online for years then when people collectively got tired of it and invented the mildest slap on the wrist imaginable people rail against it.
People alwars say "but getting cancelled is the worst! You get death threats and harrasment and you cant go online!" And to that i say you get that stuff daily just by being a part of a marginalized group online.
Like i dont have to be cancelled to get constant racial slurs hurled at me and have gross comments left on my posts, i just have to accidently post a pic with my hand in the shot.
