    LTR 450 is coming back ? 😍

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      We alone with a couple other editors had a nice 15 minute conversation with the president of Suzuki explaining the demand for an LTR450 release and the need for a $5,800-$6,000 sport ATV that adults will want to own and ride. We gave him the financial breakdown between the income to vehicle cost for sport ATVs from 1985 until 2015 and how the cost of sport ATVs have increased disproportionately with the increase in income, leading us to the need for a $6,000 450. We suggested a Z450 with an updated swingarm as their potential budget model. The three of us on hand all pledged an enthusiastic response from our publications if Suzuki were to release a new sport machine. We pointed out the price war taking place in the entry level 4x4 ATV market, the personal water craft market, and the entry level street bike market, leaving a untapped demand for a price point sport ATV. He tells us that many things are being considered. We will continue to pressure them for a return to the sport market.

    First of all, thanks for the excellent video! I owned a 2005 King 700 from 2009-2016, bullet proof. Towed back once, the brain died around 2014/2015. What it lacked in horsepower or suspension it made up for with reliability and nimble handling that took you around obstacles rather than over. In 2014 I bought a Can Am 650. Snappy power right out if the gate, great suspension, no longer went around obstacles, I went over them at speed. Had to add lights to the Can am, which Suzuki avoids with the handlebar light. Can Am taillights get covered in mud, Suzuki avoids this by staying in the middle. Can Am is built in Mexico, Suzuki USA. I've been Can Am 850 shopping but will be looking for a Suzuki demo ride now.

    Glad to see the King is still going. I sold my 2008 750 model 2yrs. ago. It never once in 8yrs. broke down with doing many full on hard trail rides, and work duty. Nothing but regular maintenance ever needed. No it wasn't exciting really power wise, but had a decent top end if you wanted to do that. I traded in a 2005 Prairie 700 to get the IRS quad back then. Loved the Prairie too though. Yes, the good old Prairie had quite a bit more get up and go than the King 750 off the bottom through the mid range. Hated the front struts though..lol! I've only been in a SXS now for the last 2yrs. but getting the itch for another atv as I miss them...Still have an old YZ250 I rip on too...I'm 50 now, but still like to think I'm fast in the woods....:) I always wondered if the Suzuki car industry going out of business affected the ATV business? Just seemed that way back in 05 Suzuki was releasing top of the line machines, and now just keeps plugging along with minor refinements...Still great machines though...I'm thinking Brute 750 this time around....

      Stu650Zuk thanks for sharing your experience with the KingQuad with us. Nothing beats the feedback of experienced owners who have maintained these machines for years. We're pretty sure that the Suzuki automobile bankruptcy did have a serious effect on the company. They've been slow to respond for the past 10 years. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new Awakening. 50, that's Young. Our friend and the test rider Allen Knowles is like 57 in ripped on our Scrambler 1000 project video pounding whoops in the desert. Stay in shape and keep ripping.

      Thanks! Yeah I feel fine, 6'1" and 225lbs and active..Did have lower back surgery in 2004 though so I'm more careful on the hard hits while riding...work related accident, not riding..hahaha go figure?! Vision is the biggest hindrance to fast safe riding I have found more than anything. Reflexes are still there, but vision even with the right glasses isn't the same. One miscalculation on my YZ or my full modded Suzuki DR650 turned SM could turn ugly in a second....I will still race any young fella today doing trail rides...Boy do they get embarrassed when a middle aged guy whoops up on em in the Northeast woods on a utility quad vs. a kid on a sport quad. I grew up on two wheels though with tons of MX and enduro racing experience...great times over the years! Keep up the good work.

    ehhhh not impressed. Nothing wrong with it, im sure its a great ATV. It just doesnt excite me. The Grizzly and Brute Force are the more exciting Japanese brand ATVs. But at least Suzuki is making a effort unlike Honda who seems to not give a damn what its fans want. The 680 Rincon is a joke compared to the King quad. The Rubicon 500 is a awesome looking ATV with a severely disappointing engine that belongs on a childs go cart. On second thought maybe the Suzuki is exciting...at least they are trying and making a effort to remain relevant. I still think the Grizzly and Brute Force dominate the Japan ATVs. The Grizzly being bulletproof, good looking, proven, with satisfying power. The Brute being the most powerful adrenaline rush of the Japanese ATVS. For the first time in my life I have to put Suzuki on top of Honda for at least getting in the game. After owning 2 junk Polaris in the early days....and a 570 I dont expect to hold up very well...I will NEVER buy another ATV thats not a Japanese brand. Its good to see them ( besides Honda) getting back in the game and offering more power and not sacrificing their notorious reliability and longevity.

    Why does Suzuki not release horsepower numbers? It's definitely a nicer looking machine but like all the Japanese ATV's out there, it badly needs a larger V-Twin engine like an 850, 950 or 1000 to compete against the high end of the utility/sport ATV's that Polaris and Can Am sell. Some nice fox shocks and 12" of ground clearance would be nice. If they put a bigger engine in it, coupled with Suzuki reliability, they would have a hit on their hands.

  • @NavigateOffroad
    @NavigateOffroad 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The new 2019 seems nice, but nothing special. While I dont think someone would go wrong if they are looking for a basic & reliable machine, I dont think there is really anything to make this stand out above the crowd..or maybe even with the crowd.
    Thoughts?

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Midwest ATV we think it will prove to be a good reliable machine for the work and Recreation crowd. Obviously, it's not going to turn the heads of those who are simply interested in having a larger displacement and faster machine than their friend riding a big twin cylinder machine. We're confident that this is a very good machine however the company would benefit from a couple new offerings.

      For trail exploring and technical riding and tight wood riding there is no better machine.Perfect difflock and clutching for the most difficult obstacles.No Can am or Polaris comes where the Kingquad and the Grizzly come.These machines are light and nimble.They are 50 to 100kg lighter.The KQ uses a lot less fuel so no need for extra fuel.The plastics don't break when hitting a tree.I can go on and on.But it is no racer on open tracks.It isn't slow eather.

      I think it's too little to late. Suzuki can only coast on reliability so long and this seems as stale as the model it replaces. Racks need work, styling needs work and instrument cluster is crap. I rock solid reliable machine it might be but it's no Grizzly. Yamaha gives you all this and they can make it look great, has a better instrument cluster and more comfortable running boards. It was between the 2018 Kingquad 750 and 2018 Grizzly 700 when I went shopping and the Grizzly just offered more but I could of had the Suzuki for slightly less money. My buddy purchased the Kingquad and when I rode his I found it was terrible as compared to the Grizzly.

      rzl07375 we have thought about reviewing the Brute Force 750 again. We were at the Press intro a few years back when they updated it. That ATV rips. It's not as powerful as the Kawasaki or Can-Am V twins but it's lighter. Its power to weight ratio seemed pretty impressive. We have talked to an aftermarket manufacturer about building plus 2 A-arms for it but aren't sure what the demand would be. A little wider with a little longer travel suspension and you have and even cooler machine.

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ernie Desjardins can't answer the grizzly versus KingQuad question without a shootout. As far as the tire question goes, most manufacturers use lightweight tires on their ATVs because it allows them to accelerate faster, and they have less unsprung Mass which in Waze provides a better ride although we are well aware of the argument for the better ride quality of radial tires. Cost could also be somewhat of a factor. We believe it's primarily a weed issue. Tires and a clutch kit would probably be our first two modifications for a little more aggressive and capable KingQuad. Thanks for watching and commenting

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We have quite a bit of time on both machines although this is based upon memory not direct comparison. The Polaris pulls very hard off the bottom and is probably most comparable to the Suzuki and its power output in the first third of the throttle, and it's pretty close. This is Uki may have some advantage in the mid-range and top-end but they're both CVT machines so this has a lot to do with clutching as well. If you check out her other videos, we recently did a shootout between the King Quad 500 in King Quad 750. Engine wise, we have a feeling that the Sportsman 570 is more potent than the King Quad 500. That would have the very least put the Sportsman 570 between the two machines and give you some idea of how close the engine performance of the 570 is to the king quad 750. When it comes to Performance for the dollar not many four-wheel drive ATVs can beat the Sportsman 570. Of course, we would say fit and finish is definitely better on the Suzuki and there are a lot of long-term owners out there that would say that the Suzuki is probably an overall more reliable machine.

      We know a couple of people who raced the king quad 700 later 750 when it first came out. We were told that clutch upgrade makes a huge difference on the king quads performance. I think your comparison to the heavier clutch springs on the Kodiak 700 is probably pretty spot-on. The king quad 750 definitely seems up to operate lower in the RPMs. We have a test unit and are planning an upgrade project this spring.

So I came to this area where my engine brake was engaged and pretended I was being chased by a bear so I gave it some throttle to see my way out of the situation I thought I was doing good until I looked at my speedometer it said 13 miles an hour. I would have been hamburger for a bear. I ride with bear spray but you just never know if that's all you need. Wouldn't hurt if I carried a sidearm. I had an encounter at our campsite where a bear came through just doing his thing. No issues didn't get no food cause everything was packed tight and put away and cleaned. Daniel Pork weight should be a big consideration for anyone thinking of buying an ATV. Well 30 lb may not make much of a difference 100 lb certainly does. The lighter of machine, the more control the rider's weight has over it. So many viewers beg for bigger machines, in multi cylinder engines without consideration for the weight penalty. These are not side by sides where you just set on your butt and push the gas pedal. We've seen so many 800 + pound machines that 721 lbs does seem kind of light. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting.

In the future we may do a big bore single-cylinder shootout where we rate the machines on a category by category basis allowing viewers to pick the machine that they think is best for them. There are a few classes in GNCC Racing for 4 x 4 ATVs. Those guys ride extremely hard. Some comments on this video are complaining that Suzuki does not build a faster 4 x 4 ATV in spite of how fast we show it going. We could definitely see mixing in a little more slow to Mid paste riding that could be a bit more relatable to the average Rider. That being said, we are professionals whose job it is to test the full performance capabilities of the machines we review. It's up to the individual to ride within their own abilities. Also, please comment on some of the other channels out there who constantly post videos of people riding without helmets.

The power steering makes for a twitchy bike!! Did I say I had to Grip it so tight I almost lost feeling in my hands! It's not stable on off camber down hill corners. FOR $17 000 Here in Canada out of the dealer door. I expected MORE!!! I loved Suzuki in Past with my Vinson. There's no way I can carry a boat on a boat rack on this ATV.
