The Isuzu MUX and the Nissan Terra are 2 of the hottest updates that happened in 2021. The 2022 Isuzu MU-X was unveiled as an all-new model while the 2022 Nissan Terra was given a heavy face lift that looks like an all new model. In this Filipino car review, we take a look at the 2021 Isuzu MU-X LSE 4x2 and the Nissan Terra VL 4x2 to see which midsize SUV would suit your needs. The 2021 Isuzu MU-X LSE 4x2 is the same as the top spec LSE 4x4, except it loses the 4x4 capability. The 2022 Nissan Terra VL 4x2 has a few features less than the top-spec Terra VL 4x4, but it is still a well-equipped SUV. This is a classic battle between these two SUVs, similar to the Toyota Fortuner versus the Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The 2022 Nissan Terra is based off the Nissan Navara, while the Isuzu MU-X is based off the Isuzu DMAX.

I have test driven both models this year. Now, I own the Nissan Terra 2022 and I’m glad I made the right choice. Never regretted the decision.
My boyfriend in Laos wanted a Terra, it's the same engine spec as the Philippines. The Laos version doesn't have power lift gate. Is this worth it? Does yours have Google map or how does it work? The Laos version has no wireless connection only bluetooth which I'm confused.

For a family of 7. MU-X is a dream as its 3rd row are fully functional for long drives, hope that next release they will include 360 cam making it the most complete Midsize SUV in the market.

Mux is my favorite choice, tested ko na to.
U should add, how quick to accelerate, stronger brakes/brake feel, on what revs change gears under smooth driving as a drive judgment

Power output on paper is the same but there's a noticeable difference out on the road.
I feel the Isuzu pulls stronger and with more urgency. Feels like driving a freight train, it's not the fastest but the torque feels endless. Haven't timed it but I've seen Thai reviewers clock 0-100 below 10 secs.
Driven the Terra and its lacking in responsiveness especially in the low range. Culprit is likely the dated YD25 engine. No amount of tweaking can get it to par with the latest diesel from Toyota and Isuzu. At least it's used in all Nissan commercial vehicles so it gets the benefit of familiarity and parts availability.
Which of them felt better tho in terms of nvh? Even if they're not as good as the toyota or ford.
I think the Terra's lack of responsiveness is due to the longer 2nd To 3rd gear upshift for the AT variants. In my unit, the rev reaches up to 2k rpm before shifting to 3rd. It's a shame this delay contributes to more fuel consumption.

Is this true power lift gate has more problems like getting stuck and a waste of battery? I tried out the powerlift gate and it's slow. The manual lift gate it's not heavy at all.
there was a known SUV brand the power lift gate malfunctioned

I'd choose the terra tbh, nissan is reliable, the interior looks way better than the mu-x, the exterior looks similar to the nissan pathfinder plus there's that 360 camera that'll make parking way easier even experienced drivers will benefit from them, it might not have the adaptive cruise control but thats not a deal breaker for me, the acc doesnt work everytime and it might even get you involved in an accident i think its better to rely on brake pedals to do the braking for you, it also doesnt have a power tailgate but thats fine might be a deal breaker for some but not for me

@@lembad7906 Had the same dilemma but ended up with the Terra since it is a lot more spacious inside and cheaper with more freebies. The Fortuner had a better engine and a bit more tech. We chose the Terra since we preferred the better ride and interior amenities over the fortuner's additional tech and horsepower and so far, we are satisfied and happy with our Terra.
@@gpb3762 nice… I got the fortuner q 2022 2 weeks ago and so far I’m very satisfied… Big improvement on suspension sabi mga nag test drive na tropa and never ko na feel na matagtag.. Pero iba pa rin cguro suspension ni terra and correct ka sa space, mas spacious c terra.. I decided to get the fortuner since it is my dream car and first love ko.. 1st time car owner din ako newbie pa and wala masyaso basis for comparison

You can’t go wrong with the two to be honest. I once called the terra an overrated SUV since never ako na impressed sa old model ni terra kahit maganda ride comfort pero ung bago pag try ko ang layo ng difference sa lumang terra all around. Props to nissan for the major improvements they made. Hope to try the mux also since ung old model niya agricultural feel driving experience except okay ride comfort at malaki space but still not impressed pero reserved judgement for the new model. It looks promising. Both maganda in the end

after watching so many reviews i finally decided to go for mux lse since my priority is larger space for a long drive. i agree with all your verdict, especially sa comfort ride ng driver sa terra. kung 2 or 3 lang anak ko i'll go for terra(bakit kasi inangat pa nila yung sahig sa 3rd row seat eh🥺), kaso apat kahit gusto ko ng zero gravity, mux na lang..thanks!
Correct. Parang 5 seater lang un Terra dahil un 3rd row seat ay ang babaw ng flooring. Ngawit un uupo dun kahit ba short trip lang.

Haven’t seen the facelift Terra, But I liked the Seats and interior better on the MU-X. In fact I felt like not leaving it lol, it’s that good. Anyways both are Far Far Better than the OVERRATED Fortuner.
Advantage of mu-X over the Terra, the former has better 3rd row seats.
I have the MUX LSE. No regrets. It's an Isuzu.

Ok na sana un Terra kaso un 3rd row seat ay mataas ang flooring. Kahit na short trip yan, mangangawit pa rin un uupo jan. Para ka lang bumili ng 5-seater.
No because they have to install the camera on the side mirror, mux is much more for pro-drivers. I have ford with 360 camera and I still prefer looking on the side mirror coz the one hitting you could be above the mirror

I just went to Nissan and Isuzu's showrooms. I was leaning towards Terra because of its looks and stance, and was not even keen on dropping by Isuzu. Alas, the Terra's 3rd row seats are practically unusable for adults. Ang baba ng seating nya and so cramped as in. Isuzu MU-X's 3rd row seats are the most spacious I've tried. Sana mura lang ang pagpapakabit ng reverse cam because that's what's missing sa MUX (base model) If you're after the interior space, MUX it is.
Terra, kahit Isuzu fanatic ako. ✌🏽

Maganda sana all new MU-X pero sa sobrang tagal dumating ng unit nila napalipat ako ng TERRA. Almost 2months akong nag hintay wala talagang available na LS E 4x2😔😔

Mabenta sa Thailand at Australia D-Max at Mu-x, Nissan kasi matumal bentahan sa Thailand kaya pwede dalhin lahat ng stocks dito.

Still waiting for our LSE 4x2 as well. Sabi ng ahente December daw pero idk hanggang ngayon second week na pero wala pa rin update. Hopefully this will get better. If the year ends na wala pa rin baka mag Terra na lang kami 🤣
You will still see the old isuzu suvs everywhere, crosswind, altera etc. but guess what Nissan’s phased out units are dead 😂 also isuzu offers genuine and best value parts which will help your maintenance costs and stay with them and you won’t see them in any other brand.
No offence to MU-X fans, but it does not have the presence of the Nissan Terra. Those impressed by its new look is merely surprised an Isuzu could look modern, but simply fails because it is trying too hard.
Ikr, i honestly dont know how anyone would prefer the exterior of the mux over the terra it literally looks like isuzu's failed attempt to make their cars look more elegant lol

You guys are overreacting. Some of you need to read history. The mu-x has some mazda bits in its design because they collaborated with isuzu to make the all-new d-max. It also comes with bigger wheels too and the body shape is more seamless as well.
I know looks are subjective , however, giving 5 points in the looks category for the Mux.. Im not so sure about that.. The Isuzu looks more like a try-hard attempt to look somewhat modern..
'Try hard' lol the look is simply inspired by some kodo design from mazda because they had a collaboration with isuzu when they made the all-new d-max.
Engine specs at fuel efficiency lang lamang si Mu x, the rest is Terra.
And probably the only one you should be looking at cause it is what the one that moves the car.

When Nissan Ph lends me a Terra, then I can give a fuel economy figure. Maybe you can convince them to lend me one for a fair assessment. I'm also quite sure that most of my viewers are satisfied with my car comparison, given the limitations imposed on me.
I really hate the shape of the seats & headrest of the terra, w/c they called theatre like seats. 😖
If fortuner vs Montero, i'll go for Fortuner. If Terra vs Mux, i'll go for Terra.

I came in to check the latest fortuner and the heck it’s the same from 5yrs ago plus you have to fold the fkin 3rd row seat sideways LOL the should have priced their top of the line 4x4 at 1.7million
