Thai logic: How can we get the farang's money without them being in Thailand?

They seems to be confused and cannot make up their mind once and for all! What is the problem? Loss of some cash for the consulates/embassies abroad?

I have heard one reason for just a 30 day exemption for US and other countries is that when Thai's come to their country they only get 30 day visa. And they usually treat each other the same. But it would sure be nice if it was longer than 30 days,,,,,,,,,

the got used to the 1,900 BHT they charge for a 30-day extension. In general, I think Thailand is getting more and more difficult to visit. Like the previous comment says, the Thai government wants the money but not the tourists. I'm currently exploring other countries in the region, such as Malaysia, that are becoming more tourist friendly than Thailand.

I arrived Feb 29th, 2024 from the US. Immigration stamped by passport with 90 days visa exemption.

PEDANTIC: Adjective. Someone who's too concerned with literal accuracy or formality. In case anyone was wondering the meaning.

Ben, you forgot to mention that you can get a 30 day extension whilst on your intial 30 day visa waiver before a border run is nesscessary making a total of 90 days if done correctly.
Having received another 30 day visa waiver after the border run, you can apply for another 30 day extension, however this might well be denied as they may look at you as trying to avoid gaining a visa for lawful status.

That's a total of 60 days, not 90. Enter on exemption, get a 30 day stamp, then extend it at immigration for another 30 days, thus 60 total. Unless you're referring to a single entry tourist visa, which is 60 days + 30 extended.

Did you actually takethe time to read my comment properly?
Perhaps your english and maths are not up to par.
Lets use the KISS method, okay.
      Visa waiver = 30 days
      Extension = 30 days
      Border run = 30 days
      Using algebra terms,
      VW + E + BR = 90 days.
With a possible 30 day extension again depending on Immigration.
Using your method you could probably do better
      60 day tourist visa + 30 day extension = 90 days and a border run = 120 days wirh a possible 30 day extension = 150 days.
Do you now understand the methodology my comment was based on?@@137dylan

I understand nothing. I've got an European passport but I only get a 2-week stamp in my passport every time I enter Thailand through Don Mueang airport.

Not wanting to be pedantic myself, I was very disappointed when calling your office and not ever receiving the courtesy of a return call.
Your loss. I am the owner of two midsize companies that I am moving to Singapore and Thailand, and you might have represented me.
There is never an acceptable excuse for not returning a phone call counselor

People best hope they don't do what they have just done to the Chinese from 1st March. 90 days in 180 and you're done for Tourist visas and visa exempt entries.
Also they cannot change to any other visa on these entries.
Watch out if TAT get their way on 90 visa exempt entries.

This is all too confusing. I have not travelled much. I am a Hungarian citizen but have lived in the US for 45 years ( permanent greencard ). I want to go to Thailand and spend at least 60 or even 90 days there. I looked at visa online but they asking for employer info. I am retired ( not officially ) I'm only 56. I live off of my stock portfolio. Also they are asking for flight information. well I wanted to wait to get the tickets until AFTER I get the visa. How do people do it ?
