Very true. I own some apartment buildings, and it’s stunning the number of people faking documents to get approved for a unit. It’s part art and part science sniffing out potential fraud. One miss and you’re out thousands.
Do you rent to tourists ? So a foreign credit card, a foreign driving licence ( with an International Driving Licence ), and foreign car insurance policy for the excess ?
I think the first too aren't really a problem but the insurance obviously is. Not all conuntries insurance just automatically cover some other car than the one you have ownership/control of in your country.. Didn't Rob offer some type of insurance for people who don't have it?
@@itsnotaboutthemoneyitsabou6759 dont you have to pay insurance (those 7k Rob mentioned it cost) when you apply and are issued the insurance papers. Thats how it is in my country (central Eu). You get insurance for house/cars etc... you pay on the spot for the x time, or it doesnt go in effect.
Depends on the business I guess. I've travelled a lot and rarely had problems. Usually my trips have been planned in advance, so there's some time to do credit checks etc. If someone's using one of the usual credit or debit cards backed by Mastercard or Visa, they have processes to verify card and address details line up. It's kinda how you can land at an airport, walk up to a Hertz or Avis desk and drive away. But their risk profile is different, both to you as a customer and them as a hirer. When I was doing regular business in other countries, I'd usually find a car service that provided drivers. Then it's simpler for me and them to establish a relationship and do any checks. If I was still doing things in NYC and wanted a nice car, I'd do the same and contact Rob's company to see if that's business they'd want. I think the biggest red flag though is the last minute thing because legit trips rarely are.
If you don't have anything with a billing address that can tie back to a confirmed address, it's riskier. Cash is obviously the payment method of choice for fraudsters.
I have to ask. What's your rationale for not having a credit card when credit cards afford you a significant amount of fraud protection over debit cards.
@@superspeeders my Debit card visa/contactless from my bank is in home address. Pay my Direct Debits, purchase stuff online. Use at cash points. Pay at pump etc. Why would I need a credit card. I spend what's in my account using debit card or use cash.
Financial institutions really don't want a p.o. box due to the "know your customer regs" but some of us have little choice. In my neighborhood of over 3k homes the postal service decided that they simply won't deliver to the homes, we MUST pick up our mail at the post office.

The General insurance should be the biggest red flag lol
This is very useful and wise advise to anyone in the rental business, and not just cars.

Lol "General insurance"... That right there is a red flag
Bottom of the barrel people are on that insurance company
Looks like keeps is working, hair is looking great!
Rob is just waiting for people to mess up, because once they do a TH-cam video is coming out!
Anything ever come from the stolen trailer?
I think the clown picture on his license wouldve been a red flag for me😬
I’m sure they were just gonna borrow it for a music video!

Those aren't red flags, those are like atomic bombs
I wonder if someone named Robert Ferretti ever rented a car from Rob. Not a common name, but I'm sure some are out there.
There is another Rob Ferretti from NJ that follows me on facebook, no relation though.
I use a po box for my CC’s. I never had an issue, I have used P.O. Boxes since in the military.
Thanks for telling me all the red flags. Now I know what I have to beat if I try to defraud you

How does this work with overseas nationals? Credit card details and address aren’t really going to check out.
