Was my birthday on the 17th felt like a little treat from Paramount to air episode 1 on my birthday. Was really impressed with the episode, the choreography, the action. Absolutely sublime for a first episode.
As for the travel time, we are talking about official federation borders, from which Sol system isn't necessarily in the middle and not edge of Alpha quadrant. Taking that into consideration then wouldn't it make more sense?
Oh, on rewatching the leaving space dock scene, I noticed something: They even slightly changed the effect of the ship going to warp! It looks much more like in classic Trek, now. In new Trek, when a ship goes to warp it first seems to get ridiculously charged with energy, so that it almost trembles, then it shoots away in an instant. Here the charge up is very toned down, the take off is slower and the ship visually stretches out, almost like in TNG. I like that a lot! Now they just have to fix those stupid hyperspace-warp-tunnels and bring the streaking star fields back! 😉👍
Finally watched the episode, yesterday… Took me some self convincing, after especially S2 was such a huge train wreck. My expectations were super low, but I actually REALLY liked it so far. There is such a huge leap in writing quality, in visuals and even the soundtrack. The characters finally felt like you‘d expect them to, and the ship visuals are awesome. Loved the whole sequence of Titan-A leaving Space Dock! I doubt it will be something cerebral, like old TNG, but if it‘s fun to watch, and the story makes sense, I‘m totally on board with a final 10 hour TNG feature Film! Maybe, with SNW they finally learned, that Trek fans actually want a something that feels like Trek, does not try to be something else and respects it‘s legacy! Please, Paramount, DON‘T EFF THIS UP!
i honestly ignored the entire "Federation Building on earth falling through Portal" thing cause what got me laughing was seeing the Highway... with Cars... at 11:02 in the video XD now granted, its a very far shot of the highway, so we can't tell what the cars are... but even because of that, i thought: "ah yes, Gas Powered Cars in a 25th Century City with the High Tech looking Buildings and such" XD
The bad guys are the Elachi. They're ships are Elachi frigates from STO, just colored orange instead of green and black. And they communicate the same way as they did in the TNG episode (schizms?) they appeared in. Also, i noticed there was a Gagarin class ship from STO in the first starbase shot as Riker and Picard are approaching. On the left hand side. Also, I believe captain Shaw served on the USS Constance. A ship at the battle of wolf 359. He had real disdaine in his voice when he said "former Borg". I bet he lost a loved one there. In a similar way Sisko did. Also, I think Rafis handler is Worf. The words just look like somthing he would say.
I do like the CG in this, but I think you're selling the SNW CG short. I think the best ship shots of the newer Trek era were in SNW S1. Enterprise looked more 'real' than Titan to me, but they are going for different lighting styles for sure
I wonder if the pump action phaser is a modified version of the standard phaser rifle from First Contact, which Beverly and her son have designed specifically to combat these new aliens hunting them. I think this because it could be a reason why it went through the power cell so fast due to the modifications to shoot high-impact phaser bolts and also the fact that Riker said he had never seen a standard phaser do to that kind of damage which left the ring of ash.
This is a much better answer than Trekyards'. The hand phaser also looked like an older design. Of course the pump handle still makes no sense whatsoever.
@@skepticalbadger could it be the fast and easy "give me maximum power" insta kill setting. Complete vaporization. Im not sure about the previous rifles but in TNG era shows with hand phasers we see some tedious button pressing for power level adjustment. This is just pump & boom - one shot one kill.
Every shot Beverley took was on maximum setting complete vaporisation. This would've burnt out the phaser cell really quickly, if it's on stun it has time to recharge or maybe a shot or two at max to recharge. She burnt it out firing multiple shots. Basically red lining the rifle and the engine said "Nope I'm doing this anymore"
This was FAR better than S1 and S2, this should have been the opener to S1. Don't like Shaw from E1 but I can see why he would object to Borg naming, especially from a commanding officer. It was weird that informing engineering about high warp was automated but actually going to warp somehow took so many checks and balances between bridge the crew.
Having an actual Starfleet hero ship makes all the difference I think. La Sirena was the Millennium Falcon of Trek universe. I liked her, but having Starfleet ships and the Horner esque music just made it feel more like Star Trek. We should have got this from the start
Hey, I need help understanding Riker and the Titan. I thought I understood what was going on before this episode aired, but after it did now I'm confused again. Riker's Titan was the Luna-class, which we've now scene as cannon in Lower Decks. This is a newer Titan, "Neo-Constitution class," supposedly the Titan-A. But in the episode Picard says, "We're going on the Titan-your old command." Riker says, "It's the only sway I've got. It's the new refit-Neo-Constitution class." Um, what? So now are we saying Riker commanded BOTH Titans? I guess that's not entirely unusual-much in the same vein as Picard commanding both the Enterprise-D and Enterprise-E. But this little bit of dialogue is making things quite confusing. The Luna-class was the ship Riker is "known for" having commanded extensively, not this one right? Unless when Riker says, "It's the new refit," he's actually saying Starfleet went to town and completely rehauled the old Luna-class Titan and pulled a real ship-of-Theseus on it, completely transforming it into this Neo-Constitution class. That's a tall order since the two ship-classes look nothing alike. So yeah, I haven't seen many comments about this confusion yet, so I don't know if I've missed something everyone else is seeing or not.
So, Riker only commented the Luna Titan which was pulled from service 2 years before Pic S1. That ship then started a full refit but mid way new Impulse tech was developed and the ships mission profile was changed, this lead to a radical re-design mid process and brought us the new Titan-A. If you served on a ship for over 10 years, and did some pretty famous things...your name/legacy is attached to that and future Titans. There are small parts of the Rikers Titans internals still in place from the refit, but hes speaking out of poeticness more than practical, the ship called Titan was his old Command and as such is the only new ship he would be given special privileges to out of respect, even if informally. At the end of the Luna Titans life and start of this new refit/new design Riker was retired with his family.
@@SGUDistantHope still doesn’t make sense. TMP enterprise was “Almost a totally new Enterprise” with a new warp drive and new weapons systems and new everything completely reworked and nothing left from the original. It wasn’t designated “A”. It still kept the registry.
Well that seems more convoluted than necessary, I'd just assumed he'd been in charge of the first Titan, then the new one for a shorter time like Kirk with the Enterprise until I read this, especially when Shaw said he had to scrub Rikers music, that suggested to me that Riker had been physically in command at some point
@@Starch-Wreck Not every ship, designer, time in dock is the same so comparing directly is not quite fair....its also like 130 years later and a different era of design.
Seems odd to me they’d make a ship with a nearly identical saucer section from 200 years ago. It’s like making a brand new navy ship with a wooden bow or canvas sails with modern tech strapped to it.
I agree it feels dumb. It makes it look it should be in SNW. To me far too much nostalgia baiting as a desperate ploy to get the audience back. They essentially canned anything about the show that justified it existing and now do a TNG special.
My suspicion with Riker's statement of needing time apart from Deanna is that he became bored and restless after the end of Season 1. He got to sit in the Captain's chair again for a while and realized how much he missed it. Deanna is done with the Starfleet life and she probably senses that he might not be. It's clear he's having a great time being together with Picard again. I know a lot of people loved the character of Captain Shaw but I couldn't stand him. I thought he was written and acted very well if the goal was to portray him as a snide dick and I've heard that we'll find out more about him so I give myself room to change my mind. It's not uncommon to create a character with a lousy attitude and then make them more sympathetic over time.
I actually quite enjoyed him. It‘s kind of the reverse situation of, when in TNG an Admiral came aboard the Enterprise, and wanted Picard to do his bidding… Who would also reject it. Shaw is a bit cocky, but I got the impression that he smelled the rat quite early on, didn’t want Riker and Picard to get away with it, so he layed out some borders for them and made clear, he isn‘t going to buy that crap. I would assume, that the moment Shaw realises, that the threat is real, he‘s going to turn around, be on board with them and do the right thing in the end. They are just setting him up in a way, where we can‘t be sure about that, at the moment… But I expect there will be some payoff. Like with Edward Jellico, who seemed like kinda a dick, but actually he had a different style of command (like it or not). In the end Jellico was right about doing things like he did in the situation they were in, as he was a capable Captain, after all.
@@ionamoebam5931 Nah, I don‘t think so. There is absolutely nothing anywhere that hints at something like that…. And would „they“ (whoever) have given him a new face? And voice? And body? And personality? That would be super implausible, IMO. Not everybody is someone else, I think he is plain and simply Captain Shaw, a wholly new character. 🤷🏻♂️
@@bn23dave Oh I understand his position, and even agree with his perspective. He has his orders. What he didn't have, however, were orders to be a snide, disrespectful jerk to fellow officers without whom there probably would no longer even be a Starfleet for Shaw to serve in. He wasn't just opposing them, though, he was deliberately antagonizing them and clearly has some very personal issues with these specific men. Maybe we'll find out later in the show, but there is definitely another shoe left to drop here.
On another video I commented I was a fan of idea of seven in starfleet but willing to see what did with it. I have to say liked what I saw, the idea of her being under a captain who is no a fan of hers and seven feeling slightly unsure about being in starfleet creates an interesting dynamic with room to grow and harks back to early conflict between Seven and Janeway. A good start, although I do suspect Shaw will be killed off sooner rater than later. I watch with interest.
Im thinking this is Crushers son from a mirror universe (not the mirror mirror universe), either where her husband survived or with Picard. She went on the run after meeting him 20 years ago or was abducted when she discovered the infiltration. The story of the season will be mirror universe invasion. I think it was also a telling line from Crusher 'We keep getting attacked everywhere we went, different faces (which I think means races) everytime'. Crusher is trying to develop a genetic test that identified mirror universe replacements.
The problem is even though it makes sense the two titans are different ships that would also explain the a in the registry number all on screen dialogue says it's the same ship just heavily rebuilt. Picard tells riker in the shuttle your old command. Riker doesn't correct him saying only the name is the same he just says the new refit implying it is indeed the same ship while also going on to say it's the only sway he has also implying it is the same ship. At dinner shaw complained rikers music was buried deep in the computer and took a lot to get out, than later said the titan is mine now. Again implying it is the same titan not a new one in name only, otherwise he might have mentioned rikers titan and his titan we're two different ships.
In regards to the disco work bee...i can see a possibility of it still being around. Certain tools stay relatively the same for long stretches of time, such as screw drivers, hammers, etc.
Shaw was well within his right to say no to Picard's request as it was very outlandish. Jellico was not mean, he was also by the book and the Enterprise crew did not behave professionally in Chain of Command.
Yeah there’s many scenes you could see from the previous series or movies, like the fact in the motion picture Kirk knew next too nothing about the refit enterprise and it’s warp drive. In Star Trek two the situation between Kirk, dr Marcus her son and his hate of starfleet. I would like too see some original story telling but as Star Trek goes on it will end up like the Simpson’s everything has been done before.
Starting eating before they arrived to dinner, insulting them, bunking them in ensigns quarters, forcing and officer to use a name she is uncomfortable with.....how is Shaw an officer, let alone a Captain. That is more insulting than an Admiral saying "The F-ing Hubris" to him because he quit Starfleet in a temper tantrum.
Because he isn’t an idiot and knew Picard and Riker were up to something. It’s called a “power play”. Discovery would have to explain it to you. I guess Matalas hoped fans would be smart enough to realize this without major explanation.
You are Captain of your newly commissioned ship. You really worked hard for this. And all the sudden two living legends show up on your ship for a "suprise inspection". Every Captain who knows starfleets history should know how this will end, your ship will get damaged or destroyed, you will lose at least some of your crew, if you are really unlucky you will get killed or abducted, tortured and then killed. If you surivive you proably have to stand trial before some kind commision where you will have to defend yourself for being so stupid to let two living legends on your ship for a "suprise inspection" in the first place.😅
@@Starch-Wreck Deadnaming Seven, Insulting Picard, that's not a powerplay. Just like implying I am stupid isn't criticism it's just you being an a-hole. You can exert power and control and still be professional. What he did was purely disrespectful. He was dead naming seven before the two of them showed up. Refering to Picard has Former Ex-Borg (meaning current borg) was also uncalled for.
.....Seven will be Seven, Annika DIED. You cannot expect someone who hasn't been that person for 20 years to suddenly be that again. Seven said that herself in VOY, that she no longer is Annika and i agree with her.
Episode references "Frontier Day", celebrating 250 years of the Federation. Formed in 2161, that would imply Season 3 takes place in 2411 (10 years after Season 2)
The posters for Frontier Day say founding of Starfleet not the Federation (Jörg Hillebrand posted good quality screen caps on twitter). But depending on what Starfleet you're talking about, it probably would be the same year as the founding of the Federation.
I thought the exact same, 250 years after 2161 is 2411 but if its 250 years after Starfleet was founded then wasn't that in the 2130s? I would see this as 2411 given that the actor who plays Beverely's son is in his early 30s, meaning he would be born post Nemesis, which is when Beverely ghosted her friends.
@@tuskin3811 , technically the Federation absorbed Starfleet in 2161, but Archer was test pilotting in the NX Program as a member of Starfleet in the 2140s. If S3 is supposed to be in 2402 like we've been told, then go back 250 years and it's 2152...nothing noteworthy happened in 2152. The year has to be 2411, but thats 10 years after S3...dating is very odd.
How did Raphi get from point A to B so quick? She was on the same planet and her ship is very fast. Her Intel gathering took place at district 6 and the destruction took place in district 7.
I thought the writing was a bit weak - especially when Picard and Riker go onto the Titan and talk to the captain. Like... *that* was your whole plan? Are you serious? But I did like the scene with Laris - and of course the fan-service was pretty nice all throughout.
Can’t help feeling a follow up series of Riker instead of Picard might of been a better alternative. Always enjoyed seeing Riker on screen and especially with Wolf.
Overall very good episode. My negatives: - still to dark on the bridge - the people that captain got his orders from are on a "higher paygrade" - why did Riker call that ship a refit?
Perhaps better than the too-bright look of the JJ Enterprise bridge. They can't seem to find a middle ground it seems. The TOS and TNG movies could skew darker but it never went too dark. The pay grade comment has been said by Matalas (via a tweet I believe) to be some sort of figure of speech. Also even though Earth doesn't have money (supposedly) aren't there species part of the federation that do use money? Money does exist, its just not something that is used to buy services or anything on Earth.
The money thing has been done to death... (literally) In Star Trek 4, Kirk tells Dr Taylor that they don't have money in the 23rd Century. Star Trek 6, Scotty "just bought a boat". TNG's Encounter at Farpoint, Crusher was buying things in a marketplace, and wanted them to send the bill. Riker called it a refit, because it IS a refit. They redesigned his old command (the Luna Class USS Titan), to look more like the older Shangri-La Class USS Titan, so the two ships are similar in visual appearance, but the Titan-A has a lot more advanced tech (such as metaphasic shielding)
It's funny too the hating on Shaw, like I can understand the guys character and probably a bit of why he is how he is, he was a wolf 359 survivor, so naturally Picard will get his back up as well as likely having fought through the dominion war, which the enterprise would have been sidelined through...so when he's talking about how adventurous they are he's no doubt bitter, the enterprise crew got to basically be lighthearted federation explorers and be a bit wreckless and unorthodox, he fought in the dominion war where recklessness for the most part would cost lives, he likely got the seriously shitty end of starfleet at that time (possibly hinted at by how he chugs the wine then immediately pours another glass which he leaves with) so his demeanour and taking no shit from Picard and Riker does make sense and is pretty good I reckon.
I had it tailor made around episode 3 of S2 was released, in fact the first person in the world to make this uniform and share it on social medias :D (It cost way to much to tailor but...wanted to be first)
That whole Hanson v 9 thingy is weird. How can any Capt. decide a person's name. That'd be handled during the enlistment/orientation procedures in any organization. I can understand Starfleet's take on using Hanson, since she was born human and all her birth records show that. But I can also understand, 'change of name' procedures as well. Anything and everything could have been done to make this name thing a non-issue, so since it is an issue, it's a contrivance, so therefore annoying.
I wanted to make a small prediction, the comment about needing to inform engineering about going to that high warp, that they no longer need to do that because it's automated... I'm kind of hoping that somewhere later, that maybe the ship has been captured, and they need to somehow make up an excuse for why they can't go to high warp yet. Where the person in engineering is going to know that it's odd that they're being told to do something... I don't know seems like a very subtle and non-essential thing to say unless it has a point down the road
In some states here in the US pump action rifles are the only available option for legal ownership I'd bet the Pump action phaser rifles are either civilian legal full power phaser rifles or it's a special max power setting as thay seem to have a limited "capacity" though it could just be a result of the being a civilan version just as powerful as a "Federation" type 3 but not as capable wich you see a lot of outside the US with firearms and ownership
It had at least a better intro, than the previous seasons. But a bit too much dark scenes, uniforms were muted by it. The Lcars were very present, but maybe a bit too much.
Beverly's son can't have been born after Nemesis, the actor just doesn't pass for early 20s imo. Loved the Titan launch music, for a couple of minutes it was as if James Horner were still with us
I realized Shaw is a by the book do what is said professional captain. Much like Jellico he doesn't care if he is liked. But when he said that the explosion and the reckless adventures that is you two guys. I thought to myself wow he think this guys are bad apples he would have absolutely despised Kirk, Spock and Mccoy thinking them to be completely aberrant and would have been of the opinion none of those men should never have even been on a starship period. Much less the Enterprise.
I wish they had leaned into Dr Crusher just being an old lady because the desperately trying to stay forty look does not suit the character as we knew her. Can we not just let it be ok for woman to age naturally. Everyone is fine with Picard and Riker being old, so why could they not have let Dr Crusher have aged gracefully?
I'm cautiously optimistic. Still, I wonder what they thought during the production of S2 and S3. It was shot back to back, and the last season is technically redconed.
S2 was telling a self contained 10 episode story - just like S1 did before it. Picard the show is styling itself as three stories chronicling elder Picard.
@@matthewburns5292 S1 had an introduction to a new crew at the end. I believe three of them where cut out in the next episode. S2 had the Borg story half of its time, which leads to a pretty big cliffhanger. Although I don't know it, I'm pretty certain that we will never hear from it again. Maybe redconed is the wrong word. Let's say abandoned.
after watching the episode i came up with a theory . i think DR crusher has had her hands on the Genesis device and her new son is a regeneration of her dead husband & Wesley's father Jack Crusher , And the android will be a Frankenstein of parts recovered from Data after his death, B4 and Lore and replicated parts and he his going threw the android equivalent of a multiple personality disorder .And the reason Beverly cut her self off from them is because she has ben working on the classified genesis device .
I found this confusing as hell; when Picard says to Riker ‘your old command’ is assumed he meant in name only. Surely that’s not a refit of Rikers Titan?!? Also, whilst I do generally like the Titan A design, and the Shangri-La it based on, it doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the 25th century at all, particularly not with the awesome STO ships flying around and the new odyssey class enterprise F.
The way I see it it's one of two things. Either they're ignoring the Luna class and don't consider Lower Decks canon and they're saying this was always his ship, now refitted, or they're saying Riker actually commanded two ships called Titan; the Luna class and the ship that got refit into the one in this episode.
Cpt. Shaw isn't likable at all despite being funny on some level. He's a mixture of a bureaucrat and the socially awkward, somewhat authtistic type. It's the later character trait that makes him funny.
I hope they give Shaw a justification for being a prick or redeem him in some way. It just felt like a character being rude because he has to be the impediment for plot reasons (i.e., show Seven’s loyalty, give Riker and Picard an obstacle, etc.). Thought it would of been better if you found out maybe Riker had stood in the way of him becoming captain of the Titan, or that maybe his parents were killed at Wolf 359 or the events of First Contact (which would explain his treatment of Seven of Nine and his “former ex-Borg” slur at both her and Picard).
I liked Jelico because he was by the books. Shaw felt like ass because he liked being an ass for ass sake. Jelico would still have followed the social niceties. He’s competent but you don’t get the sense that he has a loyal staff behind him.
Shaw is right on the orders and all, but the way he treats Seven is awful. The whole dead-naming thing and being kind of space-racist against her is what makes him a bad guy. Grudges against the Borg, sure, but he doesn't get to dictate to her what her damn name is.
The P90/PS90 analogy is a massive stretch. This thing atomised the target like a disruptor and is more powerful than the 'military' version. Keeping the same design as the prior phaser rifle is just lazy. One of many bizarre design choices in this series alongside the *constant* uniform changes and weird ship designs.
You say that but, a easily purchasable shotgun has far more power than a military grade MP5...its use case is just very different and less useful overall. Same thing for this rifle, its a suped up "shotgun" version which has more power, limited shots VS a normal phaser rifle which is still very powerful and LOTS of shots...but not "as powerful". Stuart suggested the aliens have body armour that only this suped'up rifle can get through.
You guys love ships but never discuss star trek fleet command which has some nice ships. the enemy ship near the end looks very like a vi'dar which is a romulan interceptor that has had a controlled assimilation similar to the Narada from startrek (2009) you should have a look at it and other ships from the game .
I noticed that you guys finally did a slight rebrand, the thumbnails look a lot cleaner and more modern, really good! One thing I would suggest is that you work on your description. It is very important for the algorithm, it is best to write 1-2 sentences about the video in the first lines. The keywords are very important. So in your case "Star Trek", Star Trek Picard", Picard" etc.
Sadly still a lot of residual nonsense literally everywhere, they just plaster it with nostalgia and old faces. Case in point Seven of Nine should be thrown out of star fleet and the Titan must be a horribly bad captain, crew and ship that a first officer can supercede standing orders by the captain and none notices. She also does it essentially on a whim for no reason. This entire ploy is pretty nonsensical and should not work. So yes, looks nicer (though something about the CGI is weird and makes it look more CGI) but the shows ever more it has no reason to exist beyond "Quick, old actors get old and we are creatively bankrupt!"
I enjoyed it. Didn’t see any of season two but I love the stargazer from it. I think the titan-a sucks though. The guy who designed it is an excellent model maker but his ship designs are truly awful in my opinion.
I'm feeling something is off with Riker, first he looks at the creepy stalker in Guinan's and then he stares at the other wierdo aboard the Titan...if we are seeing some form of infiltration in Starfleet like the bluegill incident, maybe Riker is a part of it...would be interesting, which is why theres a rift between he and Deanna.
Lads, stop writing the episodes in your heads and then being disappointed when its not exactly how you imagined it. Its ridiculous and its crazy how often you seem to do it.
Yeah. She killed Jo’Bril in TNG. Shot a hole in his stomach and vaporized him in a shuttlecraft in the star. She also vaporized her sex ghost which was a sentient life form. Beverly kills people with phasers.
I dont understand how they got the "Neo connie" but its so cool. Loved seeing all the old faces come back. I also like they note this is the FINAL season of the show, I know I disliked the 2nd season but always love seeing Picard on the screen whatever the case.... I'm already having some blues about this being the final time we may see Patrick Stewart as Picard

Thinking maybe we'll get the previous Star Trek ships such as the Ent-A and Voyager flying at the very end in formation for Federation day.
I think Raffi's secret contact is Worf. Something about the "warrior" moniker...
Nah, Worf has no interest in the intrigue or intelligence field. Perhaps Bashir, but I think they have spoiled who Raffe is really working for.

‘Time to space ratio’ is the best way to say speed I’ve ever heard.
The impression I got was it was some kind of pump action phaser shotgun. I want the other side's phaser machine gun.
Earth is kind of close to the edge of Federation space in the Beta Quadrant.
Great to have Star Trek Motion Picture/TNG them in the first episode...
I kept saying every 10 min of this picard episode that this is what the last 2 seasons should have felt like
Having an actual Starfleet hero ship makes all the difference I think.
It's the new refit-Neo-Constitution class."
Um, what?
At this point I’m convinced the “refit” descriptions are a meta running joke and should not be taken literally.
Its for the feels, not the reals.
Its dumb. But looks good
I agree it feels dumb.
Or he might be Tom Riker Wills transporter duplicate twin , broken out of the cardassian prison lol ?
Maybe we'll find out later in the show, but there is definitely another shoe left to drop here.
the credits also have one of my favourite star trek scores too
I'd love a Seven as Captain series.
8:58 M'talas Prime is not named after Terry Matalas but is a Planet that was already mentioned in Star Trek: Enterprise in the Episode Dawn
Both true, it was named after Terry Matalas back then, he was production assistent on Enterprise
@@dadrian I did not know that
I HATE the idea that the Titan A is a refit of the badly damaged Titan. Not drinking that Kool-aid!
“Strange New Worlds is closer”
What? Strange New Worlds worst episode is better than all of Star Trek Picard combined. Come on guys.
In regards to the disco work bee...i can see a possibility of it still being around. Certain tools stay relatively the same for long stretches of time, such as screw drivers, hammers, etc.
Look at work vehicles, forklifts, tractors, shunters, years go by, tech changes and they still look the same overall
Hey, that's pretty cool with the ships at the end..... the Columbia, I'll take it 😁 I guess I need a blue jumpsuit uniform now!
Voyager B and the Enterprise F were from Star Trek Online.
That last ship looks like a Tal Shiar Adapted cruiser ... Similar to the ones in Star Trek Online.
.....Seven will be Seven, Annika DIED.
@@richardajoy79 the Federation Starfleet was probably founded the same year as the Federation.
If the episodes stay like this. It will be TNG last film or season 8 we wanted 🖖
What’s this about the Enterprise F being decommissioned? That’s just silly
How did Raphi get from point A to B so quick? She was on the same planet and her ship is very fast. Her Intel gathering took place at district 6 and the destruction took place in district 7.
It was the same planet? I took from dialogue that she had to go to the attack...huh. Will see when i re-watch tonight.
@@SGUDistantHope Yeah when we first see her on the planet the name card says 'District 6' then she tells the auto pilot to go to 'District 7'
Probably the same reason why they went from Earth, to the edge of federation space in a few hours.
I thought the writing was a bit weak - especially when Picard and Riker go onto the Titan and talk to the captain. Like... *that* was your whole plan? Are you serious? But I did like the scene with Laris - and of course the fan-service was pretty nice all throughout.
Maybe it was the edge of Federation space upwards, and that border aint quite as far. Heh.
Space _is_ three-dimensional, after all. Not recognizing that cost Khan his life.
Can’t help feeling a follow up series of Riker instead of Picard might of been a better alternative. Always enjoyed seeing Riker on screen and especially with Wolf.
Agreed.
Wolf? No. You mean Mr Woof.
Overall very good episode.
My negatives:
- still to dark on the bridge
- the people that captain got his orders from are on a "higher paygrade"
- why did Riker call that ship a refit?
Perhaps better than the too-bright look of the JJ Enterprise bridge. They can't seem to find a middle ground it seems. The TOS and TNG movies could skew darker but it never went too dark.
The pay grade comment has been said by Matalas (via a tweet I believe) to be some sort of figure of speech. Also even though Earth doesn't have money (supposedly) aren't there species part of the federation that do use money? Money does exist, its just not something that is used to buy services or anything on Earth.
The money thing has been done to death... (literally)
In Star Trek 4, Kirk tells Dr Taylor that they don't have money in the 23rd Century.
@@ReelMeurik The Enterprise did not get the A after a refit
I like how dark it is. Very cool aesthetics.
I remember reading somewhere that most of the Titan-A systems and space frame are from Riker's ship. But please don't quote me on it.
I love the star trek the next generation 😍
Where did Cmdr Cockings get the new uni?
Too much? No. And the darl aesthetics look great.
Troi and kestra had enough of rikers burned tomato pizza’s
You can have rifles with and undermounted shotgun for doors IRL
I don't like the doctor crusher killing 😒
Beverly's son can't have been born after Nemesis, the actor just doesn't pass for early 20s imo. Loved the Titan launch music, for a couple of minutes it was as if James Horner were still with us
She could have adopted him.
Picard takes place roughly 36 years after Crushers disappearance to “Head of star fleet medical” in season 2 of TNG.
A workbee is a workbee, not a valid nitpick.
🙂👍🏾Str Trek Picrd season 3 ep.1 Review 📽.
Retconned.
after watching the episode i came up with a theory . i think DR crusher has had her hands on the Genesis device and her new son is a regeneration of her dead husband & Wesley's father Jack Crusher , And the android will be a Frankenstein of parts recovered from Data after his death, B4 and Lore and replicated parts and he his going threw the android equivalent of a multiple personality disorder .And the reason Beverly cut her self off from them is because she has ben working on the classified genesis device .
He’s made of proto matter and will explode.
Very interesting theory. I hope that they do bring back alot of Easter eggs from ST:TNG.
I love the uss titan a
I found this confusing as hell; when Picard says to Riker ‘your old command’ is assumed he meant in name only.
It's the later character trait that makes him funny.
aperture science did a terrorist attack on starfleet with portal tech^^
I love the viruis
I hope they give Shaw a justification for being a prick or redeem him in some way. It just felt like a character being rude because he has to be the impediment for plot reasons (i.e., show Seven’s loyalty, give Riker and Picard an obstacle, etc.). Thought it would of been better if you found out maybe Riker had stood in the way of him becoming captain of the Titan, or that maybe his parents were killed at Wolf 359 or the events of First Contact (which would explain his treatment of Seven of Nine and his “former ex-Borg” slur at both her and Picard).
Maybe he was a protégé of Captain Jellico who warned him about Riker? And as Seven(Annika) once said: "I was Borg: I elicit apprehension."
Or Shaw isn’t a moron and knows a “surprise inspection” from Picard and Riker was suspicious and he knew they were up to some shady stuff.
You remember what happend when Picard meet Sisko?
Matalas did wonders making Raffe feel useful instead of a strung out agenda character.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode long may it continue.
10, I.
I enjoyed it. Didn’t see any of season two but I love the stargazer from it. I think the titan-a sucks though. The guy who designed it is an excellent model maker but his ship designs are truly awful in my opinion.
It was a good episode but I’m not jumping the gun on it yet since the previous seasons were crap only been one episode but we will see
This episode is how they should have done Picard from the start, not that anti-synth(WTF to that name) crapola and BS Romulan secret society.
#DoomcockIsFullOfIt
I hate that I loved the episode considering how much I loathe new Star Trek. I can tell that Kurtzman wasn't anywhere near the show ...
Anyone here play Star Trek Online?
I'm feeling something is off with Riker, first he looks at the creepy stalker in Guinan's and then he stares at the other wierdo aboard the Titan...if we are seeing some form of infiltration in Starfleet like the bluegill incident, maybe Riker is a part of it...would be interesting, which is why theres a rift between he and Deanna.
Lads, stop writing the episodes in your heads and then being disappointed when its not exactly how you imagined it. Its ridiculous and its crazy how often you seem to do it.
Or just forget Discovery altogether, and the workbees look like they belong.

I dont understand how they got the "Neo connie" but its so cool. Loved seeing all the old faces come back.
