    I cant be arsed wi sockets gettin in the way. I remove the wires, wago em, tuck em back in the patress and throw a piece of card in the face of the patress. Takes 2 mins and saves loads of stress.

      @ThePlasterer  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It is best with them off, there were about 8 sockets in there, I don't mind whipping them off, it's the putting em all back on again🤣

    Hi
    I use the metal version of speed skim and I'm looking to get the 400mm Mirka blade to replace my 5 year old worn out non branded blade. The Mirka blade is much wider than others so holds more material, so check it out. I've been applying material with 600mm and 400mm stainless skim blades for years so great to see you doing it too. Definitely works. Good to switch application methods to avoid repetitive strain injuries.
    Blade damage, too narrow to hold material puts me off the plastic when there is stainless version on the market.
    I have a 1200mm blade as well but it is a bit too big.
    Oh .Mirka and Graco make the wider depth blades.😊
    Great work. Thanks for video. All the best

    Nice video, ive plastered before using inly hawk and trowel. Need to do my ceilings, si going to invest in the these soeed skims including the metal bladed one. I know a lot if plasterers my father included is old school and insists on a trowel finish but the finish you got there is plenty good enough for me 👌

    Q. What size metal speed skim did you use for polishing, is 900 too long? Only I have 900 plastic and don't what to fork out another 50quid for 600, I could just buy the metal blade then...

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Paul👍900, it's the best size, I don't have a 600, though it's quite good for getting into smaller spaces, and I rarely use my 1200, so yeah, if your happy to keep swapping the blades over just buy a metal blade, depending if its much cheaper?

    Excellent job mate. I’m only a DIYER but I’m getting more confident with plastering but never done 4 walls in one set as I’m not great at getting neat corners so tend to do opposite walls. what size flexi bucket did you use and what is the brand of corner trowel.

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No real point in doing 4 walls in one go, just makes for a good video😁 and doing opposite walls is a very good technique for straight corners, went from a Marshaltown corner trowel to a Refina one as the curved edges dig in less 👍

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use the big flexi bucket from B&Q, they're about a tenner, great for mixing bonding or finish, 2 put together is a bit more rigid

    Question - how do you clean the dust off the walls before you plaster? I have to plaster over very dusty walls after construction finished.

    • @Simonsimps
      @Simonsimps 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You seal the wall 1st. It stops the dust and kills the suction. Use SBR neat or PVA, there are other methods which work better on different backgrounds.

    Hi Eric just wanted to know can you get boardfinish fast set. I only plaster every now and again but I have used some board finish on a job and it says fast set on it I only noticed after the 3rd bag was not a slow day.

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adam, I think the writing on the board finish is just an advert for fast set, fast set is gone in about an hour, board finish normally goes off quicker than multi. You can use Eazymix half time additive in it if you want it to go off quicker. Hope that helps

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wet corners go quite well as you can see in the vid if you don't hit them too soon, the Extra Time gave the plaster a longer workability but the set as a whole was still completed in 3 hours, which surprised even me 🌝you do need a good flexible internal trowel though

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dan, yeah mostly drywall over there, so even getting the products would be difficult, I've just had a try at venetian plastering, possibly more call for that over in the states, its not as difficult as it looks👍

    Great vid Eric, how long did the set take with that extra time and did you water the second coat down at any stage? like when you plaster without extra time. Atb

    • @ThePlasterer
      @ThePlasterer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi mate, the Extra Time gave me longer workability, but the set time in total was still only 3 hours, I had to add the 3rd bag into what was left of the original mix but with no extra time, and I left it quite thick. I found putting the second coat on with the plastic speed skim made the walls exceptionally flat 👍👌
