Does the butter trick work?
I've only tried it twice seemed to work once, The jury's out.
👊👍
Is Alex going to?
Eric how many are going up to Edinburgh?
Yes most definitely I would have love to have come up to Edinburgh, but unfortunately my 95 year old mum is not very well.
Evening young Eric , how are you ?
Good thanks mate, how you keeping?
Great video Eric you’ve definitely convinced me never to use speedskim to lay on you would have done it in half the time with your trowel. Great to watch though. All the best.
😂
Cheers Steve 👍
Excellent job mate. I’m only a DIYER but I’m getting more confident with plastering but never done 4 walls in one set as I’m not great at getting neat corners so tend to do opposite walls. what size flexi bucket did you use and what is the brand of corner trowel.
No real point in doing 4 walls in one go, just makes for a good video😁 and doing opposite walls is a very good technique for straight corners, went from a Marshaltown corner trowel to a Refina one as the curved edges dig in less 👍
I use the big flexi bucket from B&Q, they're about a tenner, great for mixing bonding or finish, 2 put together is a bit more rigid
@@ThePlasterer thanks I’ll take a look in B&Q today
Brilliant vid 🙏
Cheers James
I noticed you used it straight away whilst new yet it didn’t seem to drag or leave lines? I have a 14x 5 ox trowel. But leaves lines like hell. Would you say the best way to deal with this is, apply the finishing coat and let it take right up and then flatten? ( less chance of lines / dragging plaster off with blunt blade ) Thanks
It's a pre worn when new but still wasn't sharp enough for a wet trowel. It is now👍
Thanks for ignoring the latter half of my question… lol
@@omarismith3655 sorry, don't know how I missed that bit 😂 if you're just using a trowel for the whole process, apply first coat, leave to pick up a little font play with it, then water down any plaster you have left and use this for second coat, which you can then apply which should help you to flatten the plaster more, then don't touch until it's ready to spray some water on. You can only get lines out as the plaster starts to harden, the best plasterer in the world can't really get lines out of wet plaster

Hi Eric! I was miss this live yesterday. I love those t-shirts from ezymix. See You soon in Edinburgh
Looking forward to it mate 👍
Evening young Eric how are you
Hello Johnny! Nice to hear from you mate, how's life treating you so far this year?
Legend him Loves the MUD
He does love the Mud 😂👍
Cheers Eric. You nailed the job and the thoughts of a “vintage” tradesman. As a 63 year old carpenter who can’t get hold of a decent plasterer for realistic money I’m about to give speed skimming a go after watching this.
Cheers mate 👍😊
The trouble I went to putting all this artex on in the 80s lol
😂😂
You've kept me in work, thank you 👍
Question - how do you clean the dust off the walls before you plaster? I have to plaster over very dusty walls after construction finished.
You seal the wall 1st. It stops the dust and kills the suction. Use SBR neat or PVA, there are other methods which work better on different backgrounds.
put that piece of shite away and get yoursel a Refina x-skim
I think the problem youve got here is tapered edge boards have been used?
Yeah, I never use tapered if I'm boarding
Deve se muito boa👏👏
Excellent job, Eric. Well done, mate 😊👍🏴
Thanks Edmund 😁👍
Cute and curvy mate 😂
😂😂
Have you stapled it, screwed it or nailed it, what’s the most common way to
Mitre glue and accelerator
Nice video, ive plastered before using inly hawk and trowel. Need to do my ceilings, si going to invest in the these soeed skims including the metal bladed one. I know a lot if plasterers my father included is old school and insists on a trowel finish but the finish you got there is plenty good enough for me 👌
Thanks jayman 👍 yeah, I'm in my 60's so fairly old school myself, I've only been using speed skims for about 3 years because it makes my job easier, but I understand why quite a few older boys stick to traditional 😀
Excellent job. Nice touch with the caulk. Not many spreads would do that. I always tell the customer to do it or make sure the decorator does if the joints not tied in. Maybe I should take a leaf out of your book and just do it anyway
Thanks mate 👍
Still looks rough as!
Love your content Ty
Nice job mate, I would have to have whipped those sockets off though
Cheers Nick, yeah, I'm thinking of telling my customers to take the sockets off and put the wires into the box if they want an even better job, and easier for me of course 😂
@@ThePlasterer Definitely mate!
And not forgetting to switch the power off lol😂
@@AFFYJAMBO 😂😂
should only use neat pva on a sealed surface ie silk paint or primed otherwise it forms a skin that can peel also I would never use bonding
I've been on the tools 38 years Terry, I've always used bonding over Atex, and been using neat pva for at least 35 of those years. What do you use instead of bonding?
been doing it for 40 + I always just use multi@@ThePlasterer
Good for you 👍
well you did ask me@@ThePlasterer
@@terry4144 😂True, merry Christmas mate🍻
👀👌
👀👍🤗
You need a bigger straight edge that will be all over the play with dips.
Hello! Came over from Kirk’s channel. Quick question, How should you seal screws in stucco? We are changing our gutter configuration and need to screw the gutter supports in new locations. I know it’s a basic question, but the gutter people in my area rarely work on stucco and seam to have no idea. Thanks!!
Hi mate, are you asking the best way to get a fixing into the stucco?
We usually drill into the stucco and use a rawl plug the right size that will allow the screw to get a good grip
@@ThePlasterer Well, yes how should we screw into the stucco without causing cracking and how to waterproof the holes.
@@daCubanaqt if you drill carefully the stucco should be fine, you can put silicone in the holes before you put the screw in, but you shouldn't need too
@@daCubanaqt I'm guessing your talking stucco on wire on wood?
Only one I know that uses pva instead of sbr
My trade mark, neat PVA, leave to dry 👍
Next show your new light!
MAGA mate!
Is that good?😂
You must be good if Kirk recommended you.
He's my plastering bruva from across the pond 🥰 we've done an interview together on my channel 👍
Kirk Giordano sent me here😂👍🏽. Awesome channel, great work.
I love Kirky, I've done an interview with him on my channel 👍😊 he's a great guy 👍👍
Howdy Eric, man, I just did a video and referred you to answer questions as you are far more advanced than yours truly. Cheers my brother and fellow plasterer. Kirk Giordano Plastering.
Howdy bruva, that's very kind my friend, but I don't think I'm more advanced in anything 😂❤️
nice work
Cheers Bruce 👍
why cant you get a normal bead in?
Because the reveals on this window are splade, a normal bead doesn't fit snug, you could use one but you would use more plaster
Great video m8, im a plasterer and also use extratime as it does take its toll on the body.
Cheers mate 👍 never used to use it, now I'm not happy if I haven't got some handy 😁
I set mixing bucket up on hope up , saves the old back
Wise man Peter 👍
Lovely work Eric. Take it easy mate, speak soon
Just what I was looking the answer for. Cheers mate
Works a treat 👍
Hi eric 👍Was that hardwall or bonding coat you used as your backing plaster ?
Bonding 👍
What's your verdict on the pool trowel Eric? Great vid as always - thanks mate.
It was nice and easy to use, obviously rubbish for getting into corners 😂, because it's narrow, 4 inches, it's gentle on the wrist, but you can't put much on with it on each stroke so I don't use it that often 😁
@@ThePlasterer Cheers Eric.🙏
