I like your videos because they don’t become after a couple minutes. I will often skip parts of retro-handheld/gaming TH-camrs, but with you I actually watch and enjoy the whole video.
Wow! That is such an encouraging comment. Thanks you for watching and reaching out! 🙂
Looks great, I'll probably be ordering this soon, thanks for the review 😃
It’s a lot of fun. Thanks for watching! See you around! 🙂
The green screen moment was funny lol
😂 Had to leave it in there. Haha. Thanks for watching!
Hope your channel grows at lightning speed, you deserve it. Great video, love the way you explain your opinion!
Thank you so much. That’s very encouraging! Happy gaming, friend.
Ty for the info. I'm not computer savvy so I'm glad you bought the version with the games preloaded. Every other streamer said not to buy it that way. Ty ty
YW. I’ve played many other systems since this review but it still has the best curated list I’ve come across.
Thank you for the great review.I enjoyed all the things you pointed out.just received mine frim amazon and love it.i had to switch os to ArcOs due to sound issues.keep up the good work.I love that you arent too loud and over excited like some others.Stay straight foward and know that there are people who appreciate your hard work.Aloha Bo!!!!!
Thanks! That's really encouraging to hear. 🙂 I'm glad you're enjoying yours. I'm still enjoying mine!
Just got one, tweaked it and it’s amazing.
I still play mine often. Love it. Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
I also like making 4:3 games 8:7 w/ integer scaling to really utilize that full space and only missing a little left/right of screen.
Aaah. I hadn’t thought to do that. Awesome! 👏
Go outside, you say. Some of us will get robbed when we go outside. But you said it's good for me ill let you know when I get back in. 🤞🤞
*Viewer should use caution, discretion, and better judgement before and during outdoor excursions . 🙂 Hope you’re well. Happy gaming.
RGB30 was my first retro handheld.
It's decent - I like it - but after seeing mods to directional and face buttons on right - I recommend getting new face buttons - and - opening it - putting a bit of tape under directional cross or modding it for better quality one.
Battery survives for Me - around 2-3 days. Playing few h here and there. While playing hour or 2 - nearly a week.
I also recommend buying better sd card at least for system and/or game card.
Just to save Your time -> clicking in fast manner L3+R3 - sticks - mutes device ;)
If I'll come with something else - I'll edit for more.
EDIT 1 : DO NOT - turn device off by holding power button - it works like sudden close for system - can crash Your sd card - happen to me 2 times - got to format -> install system anew
So save Yourself time and press START+SELECT once -> Twice -> Go QUIT -> yes
Nice tips! Thanks for watching.
I love my rgb30! Great vid! I enjoy seeing you talk to us.. I kinda get tired of all the TH-camrs that are talking hands😅
It's a great system! I just traveled with it for the holidays and had a blast while I was just hanging out with family after the kids were in bed. Glad you enjoyed the video! Hope to see you around!
THIS! I've watched at least a dozen videos on this product, and this one answered the questions I needed answered (the game list quality and over the air updates). Awesome video! Can I add the Pico 8 software from the device itself or do I need to plug into a computer?
Thank you! *subscribed*
Wow. That's so encouraging to hear. Thank you!
I haven't tried adding Pico-8 to it because mine came with a ton of Pico-8 games on it already. PLUS it already had Splore on it too. I've used it a few times and it seems to work well. Thanks for watching and I hope to see you around!
Good solid review sir, I am just wanting a retro handheld device that I dont have to "update" all the time or "load" whatever I want to play, just turn on and go.
I gotcha. Well, this has the best curated library of games than anything else I’ve tested. So I thought you might be interested. 🙂
Great review!!
RGB30 or Anbernic 353V?
Thanks!!!
Thanks! I have one on the RG353V as well if you’re interested. th-cam.com/video/8u5CmvApfUg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dn_-x61Y3hBfn6Xs If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably go with the RGB30 because of its great curation of ROMs and its bigger screen.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
Devices should add a little QR code scanner on the back for long data input.
At the risk of sounding stupid, what is “long data input”? I don’t know what that means. How would it benefit a device like this?
@@BoKnowsGaming long data would be anything from a password to an encryption key. We use it for guest passes. Easy to generate, easy to use.
@BoKnowsGaming Love the video, has made me decide to buy one of these. I gotta ask, what's the game you're playing at the 2 minutes 12 seconds? The one with the guy climbing the building, it looks rad!
It's a vertical arcade game called Fire Trap. It's tough!! Thanks for watching, and happy gaming!
@@BoKnowsGaming Awesome dude, I'm gonna track it down!
I just bought the retroid pocket 3+ based on your review from two months ago, honestly is there anyway I can make it look and function like Jelos? I don’t mind getting the roms and setting it up myself
The RP3+ is a great choice if you can afford it and don’t mind finding the ROMs. It’s more powerful than the RGB30. I don’t think there’s anything that looks like JelOS on it. But if I were you I’d try installing Daijisho from the Play Store. It’s a front end that organizes your ROMs and gives you theme choices. It looks REALLY good. Hope that helps! 🙂
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you so much for your reply. I really like the screensaver function that you were showing your video where a screensaver can be turned on and even played from is that a feature that exist an android that you know of? I’m prepping my sd card and can’t wait for the rg3 to arrive
@@user-wb8tt8mi1s I don't know if that feature exists on Android yet, but these things are constantly being improved and it's hard to keep up with it all. I agree, the screensaver feature is really cool. I like it a lot, and it's helped me discover some new games. 👍
Hi there! Nintendo ds games are playable, you can use the right analog stick to emulate the pen, good video but you could also focus on the performance of the games you test.
I absolutely LOVE playing DS games on this thing. It's so much fun. I know you can use the right stick for the pen, but there are still games that are near impossible to play. Metroid Prime Hunters would be one example. All of the aiming had to be done with the stylus. Thanks for the feedback! Happy gaming, friend!
It's possible to download somewhere rom pack from this console? I bought version without SD card.
Not that I know of.
Have you tried running Zelda OOT and MM?
Yes. It runs those really well! 🙂
The right stick is a virtual stylus on DS.
Yes. Thank you for pointing that out! 🙂 It works ok if you just need to tap on something every once in a while. If the gameplay is heavy on touch mechanics it makes it difficult to play though.
I bought one. I love it. However, I need help in customizing it with the games I enjoy. Some help or direction from anyone would be appreciated.
If you go to game collection settings, there are some premade folders that you can turn on that will sort all your games into collections. Like there’s a “Racing” collection you can turn on and so forth. That’s one way to find the genre you want a little quicker. You can also hide systems in the settings menu that you don’t want displayed on the Home Screen. And if you take out the TF2/Games card and put it in your computer, you can backup the ROMs folder to your hard drive, then delete any currently unwanted games/ROMs from your microSD card. And finally, you can “favorite” games by selecting the game, hitting Y (or maybe X, can’t remember) and scrolling down to “Add to Favoites”. Those are just a few suggestions off the top of my head. Hope that helps! Happy gaming! 🙂
Could you please check if it has pokemon games such as Pokémon emerald or just any Pokémon at all. If you could also check for a game named froggo and if it has super mario bros 3 and the original. Thank you!😊
There are a LOT of Pokémon games, including Emerald. There are a bunch of Mario games including those two as well. At least in the 128gb version, which is what I have. I’ve never heard of Froggo. There are a few Frogger games if that’s what you meant. 🤷♂️
Hope that helps!
This or anbernic 35xx plus?
I would choose this because it has joysticks and a bigger screen. If it was this or the RG35XX H… then I’m not sure. The H has sticks and saves you some money. Performance wise they’re similar. You’re getting a W product either way.
How do you exit out from a game, to choose another game to play???
For most of them, you hit Start+Select two times in a row to exit. For PSP and DS you have to click the thumb stick and scroll to Exit.
@@BoKnowsGaming got you, cool
....I Updated The System Using RETRO CAME CORPS Guide And Now All Games Have No Sound . Even The Games I'd Been Playing That Previously Had Sound Now Have No Sound At All....
I know this sounds simple, but did you try restarting it through the menu system?
@BoKnowsGaming Yes In Every Way Possible I Restarted My RGB30 . What I Had To Ultimately Do Was Remove The.Games SD Card And Do A Complete Factory Reset & Now Ive Sound In All Games .
I'm Not Putting Down RETRO GAME.CORPS Just Saying I Can Never Get An Answer To Any Issue(s) From Him Or Any RETRO Handheld Channel Like Taki Don't ETA prime etc and some of these guys tell us viewers to comment but why if no one is able to comment back .
@BoKnowsGaming another rgb30 issue is when it's off and plug in to power it does not come on . I have to unplug it from power then power it on then I can plug it back in to power . It also is the slowest charging retro handheld I've ever used
I’m glad you got it working! I’ve had minor sound issues, but it’s always been solved by rebooting. I’ve heard other people talk about the charging being weird too. But it always seems to charge for me. Idk what the difference is.
Also, I will say this: cut those big time TH-camrs some slack. I can barely keep up with the comments I get on my SMALL channel. I don’t think it’s humanly possible to respond to all the comments those guys get.
Happy gaming, friend!
Hello. i will defiantly consider getting this. did you purchase powkiddy with 32g 64g or 128g preloaded games?
I got the 128gb one on Amazon. Came with a screen protector and a case. I got it on sale for $95. It’s back to its normal price of $120 now, but my affiliate link in the description takes you to an Amazon listing (as of December 8th, 2023) that has a $15 off coupon making it $105!
is this in aud?@@BoKnowsGaming
thank you for the coupon it is much appreciated
No. It’s in usd.
No problem. You’re welcome.
Looks good! Nice review! Btw, does it have 'the firemen' on the super Nintendo?
Thanks! I just checked and it does have “The Firemen”. 🙂✅👍🔥🚒👨🚒
@@BoKnowsGaming awesome thank you! Love that game!
YW!
@@BoKnowsGamingit would amazing, if you'd could possibly do a video, just doing a quick scroll through of some of the major platforms like snes, playstation, mega drive? I know it might take a good minute or two, but it would be massively informative for most people!
I’ll consider it. Thanks for the idea. 👍
I'm a fan of the intent of this handheld, but common issues seem to be backlight bleed, buttons that just fail (my start button was DOA), and false diagonals. My current unit has all three of these.
Mmm.. Sorry to hear that about your unit. That sucks. I've been using mine for 6 months now and it still works great. I think that the quality assurance on these budget devices can be more than a little iffy.
What a lousy argument that no one is going to play more than 4h at one time anyway, point is that if you need to be charging the portable all the time it becomes a nuisance and sometimes you even cant charge it before next playsession when you want to continue where you left of. Im not saying this device has poor battery life my experience comes from miyoo mini plus and that 3h+ gametime sucks 😅
It wasn’t really an argument. I was just trying to put a positive spin on a negative point of the device and remind all of us that there’s more to life than gaming. Thanks for watching. Have a great day! 🙂
Get to the review sooner, please!
Everything I said was part of the review. I felt a need to explain my position on the company in order for you to understand my excitement for the device. Thanks for watching. I’ll try to keep the next one shorter. 🙂
