Got a black one about a month ago...the charging was an issue at first, which I just charge up a battery with the charging USB it came with, and charge it with that..seems to work best for me When i first updated it, the screen's brightness went all the way to zero, and i thought the screen was toast..went on to Reddit and other people were having the same issue, and that's where i found the solution. It's been great since then. My first retro handheld experience...I already got a Switch, first..getting a Steam Deck next, baby!!
I was aware of alot of these going in so I think I overlooked how inconvenient it could have been for someone who is diving in for the first time. I will keep that in mind for future reviews. You could have done alot worse for a first handheld. The Deck is next level. You will not be disapointed!
Now I'm waiting to get my new Miyoo Mini Plus in the mail..I got a mini HDMI to HDMI cord coming in the mail, just got an 8bitdo n30 pro 2, as well as my SN30 pro. So now I have all kinds of retro games, and the ability to play on my TV, with these sweet controllers, and all of Nintendo's first party games, as well as all of the games I can play on Steam Deck.. I'll be busy for awhile, lol
I wish there was a way to have game display at the top of the screen & have the black bars combined into one big bar at the bottom, maybe with some useful info showing like battery and time
Nice review! Thanks. Just got a white one. Leaving it stock- but did attempt to clone the micro discs to better San Discs. Followed instructions to the "T" but when inserted, the OS runs great (Jelos) but it doesn't "see" the games. Went back to stock cards- runs great, love the screens- perfect for what I intended it for. Many thanks again for your review.
So many, I think I will do a whole video on this. Off the top of my head: • Tower of Archeos • Ascent • Storming The Grandmothership • Porklike • Bomber's Run - the best one, honestly, really great, 20/10. (No correlation between me making it and that score, honest, lol)
I didn't originally buy it to play PSP games, but I'm finding it isn't a horrible experience if you can live with the fact that it's not on a 5 inch screen. When you consider there's at least a 30 dollar difference between this and anything with a wider screen that can play PSP, it's not such a bad trade.
Thank you. You are in for a treat. I love the yellow colorways. That one did not come out yet when I ordered mine. I would have been tempted had it been out to get that colour. Let me know what your impressions are once you get a chance to play around with it.
I think I just personally prefer the Miyoo Mini + because it's really good for PS1, GB/C/A, and SNES. Most handhelds allow you to play Pico 8 but do not have native aspect ratio, like you mentioned. I actually don't mind the letterboxing on the Miyoo Mini +. I also have the grip/case for it, so it fits my hands just fine. If more handhelds had a grip/case, then I'd be more likely to try them.
Yes, for sure, if your requirements are 5th gen and below, the Miyoo Mini Plus is my top choice and recommendation as well. You can't beat the user experience with Onion OS.
Got one for sprite games that I can fit in my pocket and use with my Bluetooth heaphones that I normally have paired with my phone. I use it for quick play using the ArkOS quick off/on feature. I'm into SNES hacks on this mostly but I'm growing fonder of the schmups and game boy color games. I still haven't done pico-8 but it seems perfect for what I use the device for, randomly killing time
All games you have downloaded in Splore, such as favorites and featured games, are cached on your RGB30 and can be played offline. You can also find all cached games in the BBS/Carts folder in Splore. You only need a connection to find games or load additional games that you have not viewed or played before.
HDMI doesn’t work without lags and the battery dies even off in last than one day, but in general is a good device…and the chipset is really worth for the price, running pretty much all PSP
I have not noticed the HDMI issue, although I have not used the feature much. As for the battery I do a complete shutdown to avoid this issue intirely. I have heard that new versions of JELOS have helped but I have not tested to see if it has. I would say just do a full shutdown once you are done playing.
@@muzzworks i always do, that’s the problem…even shutting down it drains to zero in less than a day…weird…hdmi I tested and the lags are about control response…didn’t tested Bluetooth control yet…but I believe the problem will persist
So, I am thinking there might be another issue, possibly even an issue with your unit. I had mine fully shut down (i.e., Start Button -> Quit -> Shut Down System) and 100% charged in my backpack since this past Friday morning. I just booted it up to see if there was any battery drain. It is still sitting at 100%. Just for your reference, I am using version 20240117. Can you verify that you have the latest update or at least the version I am running?
I keep thinking about this device, but one silly thing that for some reason bothers me so much is the larger bezel from the bottom of the screen. Whyyyyyyy 😢
@@muzzworks what do you mean by disappear? Is that bezel just the OS not rendering that space, but games would? Or do you mean you just stop paying attention to it? 😂
Great!!! I love it! I honestly havent even figured out how to add games to the favorites file!! I just got mine about 3 hours ago. Can you tell me how to favorite a game?
@@muzzworks thanks so much. I'm blown away how much this can do and all the options! Probably a bit more advanced than I need but I sure love this big gorgeous screen and the fact it's so light weight.
@@muzzworks I subbed. Thanks for helping me. I realize that was a minor issue but I sure couldn't figure it out. There are a few of us who want these and again as I said....sometimes it's a little too much. @@JB-js4xi Thanks for subbing, and no problem at all. I'm happy to help out. JelOS is quite intuitive so I am sure you will figure it al out in time. Enjoy!

hi, i heard u say u were one of the developer of these retro games, what is your view on nowadays all these old amazing games being shared freely on the internet? is it a good or bad thing?
I personally agree with you about the best systems, but i would throw in SNES, and Gameboy Advance, as well...psp runs a little bit different then the other platforms, but can be enjoyable.
I personally dont think it is. If compared to the Retroid pocket 2S, Miyoo mini plus or RG35XX Plus, then yearh it is the worse of the bunch. There are some tweaks you can make to it to improve it if you comfortable with some DIY mods.
I always forget that the SNES was 8:7 natively. Almighty Genesis, yes! Man, I miss the console wars of SNES vs. Genesis. "Genesis does what Nintendon't."
@@muzzworks PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16 is also 8:7, some Sega CD games are also 8:7 Because they have only 256 dots horizontally So 8:7 games should fit nice on 8:8 screen of RGB30
Pull out SD card 2 and use a micro sd card reader to connect it up to your PC or Mac. There is a folder for each platform. Add the game rom you want to add to the correct folder on thr card. Re-insert the card then reboot the RGB30.
Out of all the budget handhelds I own ( and I own alot, ) this one doesnt feel as premium. If you are looking for better build quality I would take a look at the ones from ambernic and the retroid. For what its worth I have not had any issues with mine and I have not seen many others complaining about this one. I think its a solid purchase for a sub 100 dollar handheld.

I did manage to clone mine to a sandisk micro sd card successfully. So this should have worked for you. Not sure what the issue could be there.
