For setup at home, you do not even need to power on the drone. In the app: right bottom corner something with 'connectiom manual' and then the button 'camera view' (top right).
Yep thanks for that as it is a crucial part of this video. Also it is worth mentioning that GPS doesn't appear to be available on the RC2 so you have to pick your location from the Global map.
Great video, clearly explained. One question though. If I run a waypoints mission, do I have the option to use vertical orientation? I need to create separate horizontal and vertical footage for a client. Would I be able to run the mission in landscape then run it again in portrait without creating two missions?
And by the way I cant seem to do anything on my rc 2 without turning on the Pro 4. The drone is just getting warmer and warmer while I try to figure out the Rc2 controls and settings. It makes no sense to me. So when you make these videos, do you have to have your drone turned on? Thanks :)

Appreciate the video, helped me to plan a route to do a time-lapse of my lake to see how it changes over the next year. I'll send the drone up every other week or something to take an aerial photo! :)
I have a tricky question for you: say you wanted to fly along a straight line towards a church tower, once you reach the tower you want to be looking straight down at it, then you want to continue along that straight line but pointing back in the direction that you came from. This would mean that the drone will need to do a 180° turn. Does it decide on its own whether to turn clockwise or anticlockwise?
the waypoint feature is something I have been waiting/looking for but I want to know if it can be programmed to do this. Fly straight to a POI, circle the POI (facing it) and fly straight back. I couldn't tell if it could do this from the examples given. For example, fly to a flag on a hill, circle the flag (facing it) then fly back.

Hey Lou! The waypoints feature does calculate the "duration" the route will take and display this before you start - however I am unsure if it makes sure you have enough battery life for the complete mission.
Had same problem with heat warning message. Now whenever I'm doing some set up such as waypoints that could take some time I simply start the props turning which keeps the drone cool.

Dave Australia here. I really did not know you could do this with this Drone . I have a four-year-old DJI Mavic, 2 zoom fitted with Litchie. But it’s set up with my Samsung phone attached with cords attached which is a real pain to set up now after watching a video. Looks like I go out and get the best deal for a Dji mini 4 pro I really thank you so much for this video. One final question do you think the range on this Drone will be better than mavic 2 zoom?
Can you connect the USB lead to the RCPro to save the battery when planning? I notice if it is on for any length of time the fan starts running which uses a lot of battery.
I knew I could find this on your channel! I wanted to learn all about the waypoint missions! Thanks Matthew. One more question, is there a way to back up the missions from the controller? I will make some missions I will need for a year or two for some projects, so I would like to back them up just in case a firmware update wipes the controller or something happens to it and it needs to be replaced. Can I save them to the SD card, for example?
Nice lesson. I like waypoints and missions very much. I have used Litchi for years. Unfortunately my Mini 4 Pro doesn’t work with given GPS waypoints or show current GPS locations. This is badly needed for my SAR missions. Any ideas?
Well done video as per usual.. Interesting that if your pre established mission includes entering different flight zones, you can experience mission cancelation even with permissions turned on. Then with building the waypoints in the field by flying, the mission works! Be interested if you try this.
Pretty good tutorial! But, I keep missing what you are doing to save a mission or to save changes to a mission. What are the key strokes/buttons used to save? Also - I do not get how to change the title of the mission - again I am trying to understand keystrokes/buttons used. Thanx.
…not the same location BUT same approximate altitude. Per the manual on page 42, one of the things saved in the waypoint, in addition to GPS, is the “…altitude from the takeoff point”. Say for example your altitude is 10 feet from takeoff for the first waypoint. If you attempted to fly that saved waypoint in the future BUT took off 15 feet lower than where you tookoff when the waypoint was saved, it will fly to the same GPS point but abandon the waypoint mission when it attempts to lower itself to what is in essence, a -5 foot altitude, as in the ground. The obstacle avoidance kicks in, even in sport mode for waypoints.
C1 waypoint plotting in the waypoints - do you set the altitude as 1 height or can you vary it - for example 3 first waypoints = 6 meters altitude, then a 50 meter high old fortress - will the c1 remember that height by itself or do you have to specify while plotting in the waypoints? Beep .... I just dont get it :)
Hi, I have a question about the dji rc controller, not the new rc controller 2. While flying my mini pro 3 with the rc controller can an iPhone or iPad be connected to the controller so a second person can view simultaneously what I am viewing on the controller?
I believe you need to have camera action "camera off" and then add new waypoint at same location with camera action "take picture" and then new waypoint at same location with camera action "camera on". The video segments and the photo shots are separate but are also controllable via waypoints.
I love waypoints! And this addition is great, can’t wait to get my new m4p out, but…. The functionality is pale in comparison to the DRONELINK application.
So can I set waypoints some km ‘s away (with lost signal) and let it finish its route and RTH? That would be so cool ! I can let it record and watch it later . Greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
I'm expecting this feature to produce many distance records. In theory yiu can send it to your mate's place, 20km away and have it auto land on his lawn. However my mate has dogs that chase drones and there are eagles on the way.
Does the drone overheat if you are spending a long time setting up waypoints using the first method? Its a shame its not possible to just turn on the controller and set up your way points there without turning on the drone.
When I am in Waypoint setup, when I do the two finger spread on the full screen map, it doesn't expand (enlarge, magnify). Any thoughts on why that is?
Can you edit your waypoints using the drone? I would like to send the drone up twice along two very similar routes, just a couple of feet apart in an attempt to create a stereoscopic flythrough. But to do this I'd need to copy the waypoint plan and step through the waypoints, shifting the drone latterally for each point. It's a long shot, but I'd like to try it. Can you 'step through' one of these waypoint plans and edit each point with the drone?
I've just worked out how to do it... I'm a frickin' genius. Create a castellated path with alternating side shifts, left then right at each waypoint along the path. Back at Base, copy the route, one for left eye and one for right, then edit out all the right eye waypoints on the left eye route and all the left eye waypoints on the right eye route. I love my brain 🧠. Doing it tomozza!!!
How can you set the drone to fly and face the way you set the course out? When I tried it ,the drone flow the course but the camera was not face front … ie was on course but flying sideways …
Hopefully I am missing something, but....... It is ridiculous that when I open a pre-recorded waypoint mission that the map doesn't zoom into my mission, it opens up somewhere at 50,000 feet over Europe and then I have to zoom zoom zoom zoom to get to my actual mission.
When the day comes when I can control the speed between the waypoints, camera tilt and angle, then I will be using it. How to synchronize the waypoint flight with a moving object like a racecar, boat, train?

GPS is enough
