Thank you sir! Best presentation I have seen on the subject. So many others talk too fast, not loud enough, cannot understand half of what they say, have all kind of stupid junk pointing, playing and so forth. You speak clearly, good volume and are very understandable. Thank you again.
EXCELLENT presentation! No extra BS... just clear, concise, explanations that make mission planning understandable. If you're not already a Professional Educator (teacher, Professor, etc.), you should seriously consider it. Great job!
I've been using waypoints for some time on my Mavic 2. I pre-plan the flight whilst on wi-fi at home using Google Maps satellite view then can concentrate on tracking the drone visually on the day. I cannot fly as well as this automated mode and achieve some very smooth results especially when turning in an arc and around points of interest. It is good to do a recon of the area first for possible height obstacles particularly as these may not be apparent on a flat map on the screen and since I do not want to record the sky, I set my gimbal angle at about -15 degrees. With a touch sensitive screen it is easy to inadvertently add an unwanted waypoint way off somewhere and not notice this until the drone flies off looking for it so do a final check of your planned route before committing. Save the route file so that you can return to repeat the flight when lighting or time of day might be different.
Thank you for showing how the point of interest works with the waypoint. Everybody talks about the waypoint, but they never integrate points of interest in their instructions.
Nice video and clear explanations. I’ve been experimenting with it, and I found out if I want to abort the mission- for example this morning I ran into dense fog about halfway through- you just push return to home and it will stop the mission and come back.
Thank you Shawn. Another calm cool and collected video that gets straight to the point. I just purchased this and it's my first time flying a drone. Been watching all your Mini 4 content. Keep'em coming and I'll keep watching. Thanks again, Scott
Thank you for the tutorial. What I’m missing is seeing the actual end result which is pretty important in understanding you your choices with setting your waypoints.
Something interesting (to me) that I discovered with the newer Waypoint functionality, when working with waypoint missions and repetitively launching into a pre-programmed waypoint mission, the drone does not have the opportunity to get an accurate fix on the homepoint. The drone just flies straight away to the first waypoint position. As a result the precision landing accuracy becomes less and less accurate with each waypoint mission that is flown consecutively in this manner. Just an item of interest...
Great demonstration, however, I would have added how to edit the name of the mission in order to identify it easier later on, and how to recall and execute this particular mission in a day, a week, or a month....
It's nice to see Waypoints added to the Mini series for the first time. Great tutorial for getting started with waypoints, DJI makes it pretty easy for the user. Thanks for sharing, Shawn.
Funny I just had a client who's an architect ask me how we can shoot time lapse photos of some of his houses being built. I think this video solves it?!
Indeed, that is very possible. if you know you’re gonna be biking say on a specific route, you could have the drone fly to different waypoint as you bike along or do something similar
Thanks so much for your video. Your presentation was very smooth and easy-going and very clear to understand. I have a little more confidence in doing this since based on your video. I’m going out today and try it for the first time. Keep up the great work.
Can waypoints be set to fly the mission forward(like normal) and then, in the settings, instruct it to fly the mission backwards? For instance, your mission is to fly through a forest. You set the waypoints and the mission works. You can now, reset the speed faster...creating drama. Now...using those same waypoints, reprogram them to allow the drone to fly it backwards. It's a more exciting video I think. Thanks again for this video...picking up my MINI 4 Pro today.
Setting waypoints on a chart (map) which can be done beforehand 'anywhere in the world' as you said, will certainly require to be connected to the drone which is a little disadvantageous as the drone may heat up meanwhile. Being connected to the internet alone is just not enough. Wouldn't it be a lot more convenient having the opportunity setting the waypoint missions without having the drone switched on?
you can plan a waypoint flight without the drone connected. open camera view, click waypoint, change to map, hit +, then touch screen where you want your waypoint/waypoints. then enter actions for the waypoints. you can also add your POI the same way. I do it this way so nobody knows I am flying my drone, I just plan my mission and fly. The mini 4 is so quiet even I have a hard time finding it.
Next question: how do you go into camera view when the drone is not connected? I can only click on: album, skypixel, profile, connection guide,… No camera view. Or were you referring to “propellers not activated”?
Hi can you help with a question on my Mini 4 Pro Controller. During initial set up I select United Kingdom as my default country although when I get to the set up for time zone it reverts to Beijing as the default time zone and in the drop-down menu no facility to change it to UK European time.
Thank you for a great demo. It's great to have weypoints on the M4P. I've used weypoints with Litchi & dronelink with the Mavic Mini and now (beta) with the M3P. I wonder when the M5P comes along, it will enable weypoints to be defined by uploading the mission via some cloud based tool.
Great Video sir, lots of Appreciation could you please reply whether Autonomous mission could be done through the Way points in Dji Mini 4 Pro, for Mapping and Survey.
Very use full video. I have set up a Waypoint mission using the map remotely from the location. It seems to work however even though I selected manual tilt for a couple of the way points, the drone ignored the manual tilt instructions (using the tilt wheel on the left side of the RC Pro 2) as it flew the mission and continued to use the previous way points tilt settings. Is this a fault or am I doing doing things wrong? Does selecting manual mean some thing else?
Nice video, make a video showing how to use waypoints for hyperlapse. Nobody so far has made a good hyperlapse waypoint video. Can you plan the wpt flight and save the mission and then refine the mission like changing wpt location, altitude, etc.?
After you add the waypoint can you manually adjust flight speed while drone is in the air? Or do you have to plan and set each waypoint and speed in the settings as you've shown?
Clear + Concise + No nonsense = BRAVO! I noticed you can take photos at the different waypoints. Does it also allow for shooting a 5 bracket HDR (AEB) image sequence at a given waypoint?
Thank you for covering POI. Too many videos simply cover setting and flying waypoints. Ending with a video of the final flight (camera angles) would be nice.
Awesome timing!! Just about to head out and try out my new drone. Will try this waypoint method! Glad you mentioned about using your phone as a hot spot so you can get maps on the screen 😀👍 Love your videos!
Thank you for this tutorial. Waypoints is my next challenge (I think). I have a question regarding waypoints and if this is the best method for what I'm about to do. I want to document me falling a very large tree killed in a fire two years ago. I will have an insta360 on the ground and a go pro on my safety helmet. I would like my mini 4 pro to be about 50 feet in the air, but rather than be static (hovering in place), I'd like the drone to move slowly back and forth (fixed alt.) on a path of about 20 feet off to the side of the fall path of the tree. This would give me some panning shots to use in the editing process. Would setting way points be the best way to accomplish this?
You have two choices for controller the RC 2 which has the built-in screen or the RCN2 which is the one you need to mount your own smart phone. Both are fully capable of waypoint so it’s all just personal preference on which controller he would prefer to use

After recording all the Waypoints, I landed the Drone and replaced the battery and then went to start my waypoint journey. The drone was started in a different home position and for some reason waypoint one was incorrect, are the waypoints in any way connected to the Home position as it seems to happen a couple of times with me.
Great video buddy. I definitely learnt a lot 😊. When I use the 4k 100fps setting does it automatically convert the footage to slow motion or do I just do that when editing ?. Hope that's not a silly question 😉
You do that when editing. Just make sure you’re exporting at 30 frames per second. And most editors will have an adjustment for the frame rate of the video clip.
Hey there my guy nice video as usual. Have you had any problems with screen record and transferring file to the sd card from it if so what did you do to correct the problem.

are these waypoints 100% accurate? I mean, does it follow exactly the same route with exactly the same gimbal tilt? on my mini 3 pro, while doing the hyperlapse waypoints, it does go slightly off the course of the set waypoints/tilt, so I am curious if this mini 4 pro does follow exactly the set route over and over...

What am I doing wrong? Do I have to tell it to start recording again after each time it takes a photo?
I want waypoints to be something I can put it on the map, set the altitude etc... and then let the drone fly while I am moving it around controlling the camera.

The ability to save and repeat a way point mission is great. It means you could go and plan a mission by day and fly it by night.
