I sincerely hope when this trial gets going, the prosecutors spend a LOT of time on the number of times DT changed his claims about the whole thing. When he first whined about the "raid (of COURSE intelligent people are going to know a legally executed warrant is NOT conducted through a "raid")," that NO ONE would've known about it if he hadn't screamed it to the world, changed his story about the whole thing at least 13 times in the first 10-14 days after the event. Including going from not having the documents AT ALL to "but they were protected behind a secure door." WHY would you need to "protect" golf shirts? He has NOW said the boxes contained clothing, so WHY would you need to protect gold shirts from "spying eyes?" Seriously, even if the prosecutors were to ONLY concentrate on the number of times his "explanation" changed, that should be enough for conviction. The truth doesn't change... ever.

Second, I'm not worried. Who is RFK jr's constituency? Jill Stein Democrats? No. Those were people who were so sure that Hillary would win that they carry a protest vote. Also, the kill Stein Gary Johnson vote came mostly from people who were Bernie voters and looking for a place to go when he dropped out. My family comes from a third world country. My home country is amongst the 10 poorest countries in the world. People would kill for vaccines. Women walk miles and miles to vaccinate their kids. They vaccinate their kids so they don’t die before they reach their teenage years. Vaccines work.
People’s memories are so short. I am 73 and was lucky enough to benefit from the early polio shots. There were still people in iron lungs when I was a child. My brother had measles when he was 2 and my mother had to teach him to walk and talk again afterwards. I do genealogy research and my grandmother’s 2 surviving siblings died when she was 6 from diphtheria. Who in my generation has even known someone who had that disease? My husband’s grandfather contracted diphtheria at Libbey prison during the civil war. He was traded in a prisoner exchange and spent more than a year in military hospitals recuperating. He had to learn to walk again and was disabled going forward. This is just some of the history forgotten by knuckleheads.
Somehow Bret Baier turned in a hilariously damning Trump interview. I feel like Trump thought he was going to get a friendly interview where Baier would just spoon feed him defenses. Trump being caught off-guard by Bret telling him Alice Johnson would be executed under his plan was fucking priceless. The sheer stupidity is just astounding sometimes.

I think someone high up in the fox network talked to him re: the $780 million law suit, and I think they want to stay out of trouble, especially as it pertains to trump.

Why is "sexual abuser and defamer of women" not a big deal to Republicans? As a metoo-er, I am severely depressed (severely, as in horribly, it makes no sense to me) that those titles associated with a former U.S. president and current runner for president are out there, and he still gets press and attention. My first election when I moved across state 2 years ago included a reTHUGlican who said publicly that "if a woman is going to be raped she should lay back and enjoy it". Regarding Jake’s RFK experience. I saw the interview where RFK shared that story about Jake and the vaccine article and he was very convincing. If Jake hadn’t shared his side I would have had no reason to disbelieve RFK, which is troubling because I’ve been binging RFK interviews and he’s a rather compelling speaker. He’s very confident in everything he says and I imagine it’s also very difficult to fact-check him. You would need a team of experts in various fields because he seems very knowledgeable about a wide range of topics and cites studies and stats off the top of his head. I hope there’s a reputable independent doctor who can interpret for laypeople at least one of the anti-vax studies he’s cited. It’d be a good test to see how right or wrong RFK really is. We don’t need another delusional pathological liar in the White House.

The public is paying for elections one way or another, but billionaires have more money to influence voters.

I seem to remember a couple that took him to task. Jonathan Swan of Axios did a pretty good job. I recall a couple attempts with Trump terminating the interview when the questions got a little tough. He has to agree to an interview and sets terms that no respectable journalist would accept. He got sucker punched in the latest interview. I doubt it will happen again.

The Presidential Records Act explicitly states that all records an outgoing President wishes to retain must be turned over for prior appraisal and approval by the CIPA panel. Once the appraisal panel has vetted those documents and items to make sure they don't contain anything that would compromise state or military security, they send the outgoing President whatever they deem acceptable to take. This is what the law explicitly states. It doesn't say an outgoing President can box up everything and send it all home, in case his golf shirts are in those documents boxes.

The fact that his personal items are all interspersed with the documents and boxes is a specific point of the prosecution, as it shows clearly that these documents were used by him and links them to him.
He has previously been claiming that the boxes were never there and then later they were planted by the FBI.

The only problem with term limits is it tells the politician they have X amount of days or years to be corrupt. What we need to do is keep electing people that are doing good job. His trial has to be broadcast live. Yes, I know there are secure documents involved- however I have watched multiple trials that were broadcast where they were able to simply keep certain things off the screen that they did not want shown. They only have to plan ahead.
The reason I say this is because of what I saw in the media after the Heard vs Depp trial. The media stated many things that did not gel with what actually happened in that trial. People who were watching it actually learned quite a bit about the people involved and their character. I found the reporting to be very inaccurate and twisted from what I saw in the trial. I think a lot of people who are Trump devotees would be very likely to watch the trial to see him. Perhaps if they actually saw what was going on in the trial they might learn something. At the very least they might see proper process and that nothing inappropriate is occurring. If the trial isn't broadcast, there's going to be a lot of twisting-- either way, there's going to be a lot of twisting of what happened-- but at least for the people who watched it, they will know what happened. They won't have to believe the media networks. But if it isn't broadcast, there won't be very many people who really understand what happened. They will have to believe the opinion of some reporter who sat in the room.
there are court reporters who literally record everything that happens in the court room, which becomes case law. But I get your point, we live in a lazy and functionally illiterate country, if people don't see it with their own eyes the spinsters will do their dirty work.
This tbh. I know it sounds a little out of left field but that trial was such a great example of dissonance between reporting, plain hearsay, and what we actually saw with our own eyes.
