  • Here's some tips to spot a bad tint job. There's a bit more but these are the most common ones. FYI, no tint job is 100% perfect. There'll always be imperfections--it's just the amount that's considered "standard" and "below standard".

    I’m a window tinter installer, thats an amateur installer. Understands the process, lays the film, and those will be the common mistakes. Specs on the edges, creases and light gaps. Being a tinter is probably one of the most sensitive jobs to have, along with Car wrapping and PPF installers. There isn’t really any room for mistakes, one little scratch and the whole tint comes off. But as an amateur you shouldn’t be charging more than $100 for a car and to be completely honest with your client about your time as a tinter.

      assuming this wasn't done by an independent shop, these types of jobs are very common at dealerships which normally get included in every new car or this is one of those fleet deals where they tint 100x of them all at one time

    This is why I laser cut my tint so that my client receives a clean professional custom fitting tint. Cleaning process is very important in order to avoid any dust particles or contamination between the glass & tint. Heat shrinking tint will also prevent bubbles after installation, but it’s normal to have some bubbles until the tint cures over 3 weeks on average.

It’s a 2019 so I’m assuming the tint has been on there for 3 years, plus the car was registered in South Florida so it should’ve been relatively difficult to get it off. Why is there even a gap between the tint and the window edge? On frameless the tint should finish at the edge of the window. I’ve never had any gaps like this on any of my windows.

    • @EVSMotors
      @EVSMotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A slight edge prevents any potential lifting when rolling up and down windows over time. A tint (typically a thicker one) finished to the edge rolled up and down against a rubber gasket/suede liner with dirt build up, can cause it to pick up and lift over time.

    Couple questions, I had a tint job done on a 2014 Lexus es350, rayno 50% ceramic on windshield and 35% carbon all around. Front window has a very small air bubble at the center 3 inches from the bottom, but in front of passenger approx 1-3 inches from the bottom it looks like the glass was smeared with body oils between tint and glass or could it just be the glue curing? Being it is ceramic I was told it takes longer to cure because it resists heat and it is winter and only 2 1/2 weeks old. Also my rear window has many air dots/specs, I am very anal and want it perfect, I do understand about the matrix and that’s fine, but very hard to know what is normal. Big question here, tint job has lifetime warranty, but can tint bubbles get brittle and chip over time from not laying perfectly on the glass I clean my windows all the time? I don’t want to get into a pissing match with the installer by him saying I damaged the tint and that I can’t prove an air bubble was there if it should get brittle and chip over time.

      Thanks for the questions. It's hard to give you any specific advice since we aren't there in person to see the areas you're referring to. With that being said, the back window and the front windshield are usually the 2 hardest windows on a car, so seeing more bubbles on there isn't uncommon. Bad, cheap, or old tint can chip/flake over time. Google the 2% tint rule and see if your windows fall into that. If you have lifetime warranty, the installer should fix the issues (but make sure you know what the warranty covers first). We are answering your questions in an upcoming vlog in case you want to see that. Hope this helps!

      @@EVSMotors I went back and they redid the windshield, back window and side window, no questions asked, I in a strange way like that they made a couple errors, because it really tested the integrity of the company. Most companies will tell u anything to get your money and when it's time to collect on warranty they give excuses. These guys at winning windows tint are awesome, although my windshield now has one slight scratch to the bottom of the windshield 3 inches from the bottom and about 3 inches to the left from the rear view mirror on the passenger's side. Looks like maybe the squeegee snagged, The windows are flawless, maybe 3 pin head size bubbles on back window, I know they would redo the windshield again if I asked, but I mean it is flawless like factory tint. He walked over to my car looked and said, that's coming off, that's coming off and that's coming off and he looked at a tiny window on my rear door and saw something I couldn't see and said that's coming off too. When I got the car done originally it was pouring outside, so to roll a car out and look at it like your supposed to in sunlight, didn't happen and indoor lighting and flashlights only do so much. I have to say I was very impressed with the company I used and spoke to people I work with who have tinted windows and the all said if you look close enough you'll find something. I was really impressed how NO excuses were made and he didn't try to talk me into living with it. More companies should be like that, most people just wanna make money 100% of the time and don't realize that there is a give back figure/percentage u have to ad in to keep your customers happy and maintain your integrity. Customer service is what keeps u in business and repeat customers. Even if yourself or someone reading this thinks your the best tinter in the world, you would look at this job and say, that's pretty damn good/great. They do old school, no computer laser cutters, just blades.
      I originally was going to use a guy nearby, but was reading his reviews and a guy complained, he went back because there was chips or a chip in his tint and the store owner wouldn't cover it and said it was do to seat belt contact which may have been true. I don't know about u, but if I was the owner I would have resolved it somehow and avoided the negative review. Even if I had to do a one time take it on the chin move, what's a half hour and $2 in tint, to keep a customer happy? It's not like there's a line of people at his door who chipped there tint. Thanks for your info.

    I spray the window with the tint slime solution then razor blade all over the window then scrub the life out of it with the scratchy side of a sponge then wipe down with andrex toilot wet wipes (does an incredible job of removing dirt with no nasty chemical residue) then spray again then peel half the film away spray the film itself then position right at the top corners and slowly position a line across the top then slowly peel the bottom half while spraying the bottom of the film and making sure its all perfectly aligned then squeegee it out from the middle.... You ALWAYS get a bubble or 2 but god damn nothing like this if this was paid for I would demand the money back for the cuts alone never mind all those dirt bubbles but tbh I bet it was a diy project by whoever ownes the car.

    Yes i have a question. After my window tinting it doesn't get that hot inside the car. How ever: the windows does get hoter den before and feel like a heater (radiator) was pointed towards the back of my head and neck. Would this effect go away with a carbon or ceramic film? Which one do you recommend the carbon or the ceramic one? Thank you ❤😊

    • @EVSMotors
      @EVSMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      windows can feel hotter than before depending on what tint you get. usually the ones that do a better job blocking heat not only reflects but also absorbs, which is why the windows may feel hotter, but that's typically only felt if your hand is touching or literally right next to the glass. if your interior is cooler but you're feeling more heat on your head and neck--i'm not sure how that's possible since that almost sounds counterintuitive.

      @@EVSMotors hey thanks for your answer 😊😊 well things that before got direct sunlight nd now dont are not getting heated that much. But the glass itself does which does radiate into the car for about 3-4 inch. What material would be the best to fight this? Also thank you somuch for your answers. Really appreciate!
