That Manfred Mann album at the antique store brings back good memories. I was about 11-years-old, and a favorite aunt from the UP was staying with us for vacation. We went shopping at the local Kmart, and she said to pick out something for an early Christmas gift. Do Wah Diddy Diddy was a big hit at the time, so I picked that album. It became my third rock 'n' roll LP after "Meet the Beatles" and "Little Deuce Coupe" by the Beach Boys.
@@VinylHunter Wow, how 'bout that! Small world. Both my parents were born in the Copper Country, but never meet 'till they moved to Detroit while in their '20s. Other than a few distant cousins, my close relatives that still lived up there have passed on. But, I still visit the area every couple of years, usually during color season.
Buddy Rich is the all-time best ! Krupa was a wild man.. and one of the greatest. " Red Hot And Cool" killer find ! You found my favorite Jerry Jeff LP.. LA Freeway / Hill Country Rain / Charley Dunn.. love that whole record. Cheers Tuco !
David City...the home of Rene Records. You'll want to keep an eye on the one I'll be showing in my next video! I've been to that St. Paul thrift store years ago & came out disappointed. I'm pretty sure that "antique" store in Utica just fixes/repairs antique furniture & sells it. And my ex is from Utica, so long story short stay away from Utica!!😂 They actually have a two lane bowling alley there if you can believe it. We're still in March?? Can't wait for my dad's cameo.🤣
HiTuco! It’s nice to see a new video. I’ve never seen a cattle drive before, that was great. David City had some interesting stuff. Hope you’re doing well, take care.
Wow, some really great jazz titles at the first store in David City and a few others I would have grabbed to fill the glaring holes in my own collection. Woohooo! "There's a dead skunk in the middle of the road and he's stinkin' to high heaven." Some decent titles there, but the prices might have been a little steep on a few if they weren't in great condition, of course. I did see the binder for that classical series one time and it had all of the booklets inside of it. If they had Pavlov's Dog for a quarter before, it's always worth re-checking. That Gene Krupa album is great! Cool finds with Jerry Jeff Walker and The Hollies.
10:38 Wow, lots of lucky jazz finds, Tuco, and that Gene Krupa 'Drum Boogie' album for only a dollar is a real steal. I have that 'Drum Boogie' song on a 78 rpm record as part of a 4-record album set with a cool cover designed by Jim Flora who also designed lots of other great jazz album covers with his uniquely wild, wonky cartoony style (like 'Mambo for Cats' as well as albums by Andre Previn, Shorty Rogers, Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory, Sauter-Finegan, etc.) and one could even buy three volumes of books on Amazon featuring all of his album covers.
I love his album covers! I've got After The Riot At Newport and i think one or two more. I've told myself in the past that i need to keep an eye out for his covers...but I've got such a bad memory that i forget to do it!
Hi Tuco!! great pick ups as always, just checking how's polka doing and there they are!!! so many records of that type of music it's almost hilarious..... but man, two Uriah Heep x $4 each!!! unless they were to beat up and Nazareth too!!!! cheers and keep thrifting
Yeah, i wish i would have snagged Magicians Birthday because someone i know was looking for it not long after that! I didn't look at the condition because I've already got them...but i know Magicians Birthday cover was nice.
@@VinylHunter Cool!! usually those records are very beat up and if you don't grab them, i'm jumping right now on a plane to add them to my collection, lol..... cheers!!
12:32 It must have been a bit NIPPY for Carly Simon that day, but that is a great album and I scooped up one for only a dollar or two many years ago from a Value Village or Salvation Army Thrift Store. :)
I crapped myself at 21:12. I was wondering when you were going to show Runza. There's a forcefield set-up around Nebraska where the runzas cannot leave. I know there's a Runza as far west as Scottsbluff, but none in Wyoming. Is there one in Council Bluffs?
@@VinylHunter I looked it up and there are a handful in locations outside but near Nebraska, and Cheyenne is supposed to get Wyoming's first Runza (I grew up in Wyoming). I read it's going to be next to Taco John's, which is Wyoming's gift to fast food.
You do find some keepers. It all depends where you live. Out here you couldn’t find anything but burned out rejects. I’d have to leave the state (California) to find anything even close to what you’re diggin up. Keep it up. I like what your findin! 🖖🚀
Thanks Rik! Yeah, i usually don't find much in thrift stores here inside the city limits...but sometimes though! Just found The Music Machine Talk Talk in a thrift store here! But i have much better luck out in the sticks where no one else is digging! That's for venturing away from the Perfume Gardens for a few to come ride shotgun with me for awhile!
16:38 I would probably have scooped up that 'Blue Mist' album by Sam "The Man" Taylor, particularly since it featured 'Harlem Nocturne' which is a great tune which I also have on a 45 rpm record performed by The Viscounts. :)
Isn't it great when they have the best records cheap and the common LPs over-priced! I know what they did there - they overpriced the artists they knew and/or liked!... At the 2nd place those records also looked familiar to me but of course I was never there - typical thrift store crapola - the same selections are at my local Goodwill. Really nice jazz LPs you picked up!
Yeah, the thrift store selection looks the same everywhere you go, doesn't it!!! I see that so often (fortunately) where people price the familiar records high...but lots of better, unknown records get priced cheap!
@@VinylHunter With a track like Funky Turtle i would not have been leaving that. Plus It Was A Very Good Year can be funky (see the Della Reese versions)
Yeah, i usually do better out in the sticks where no one else is digging. It's harder to find records at thrift stores in the city because there's a lot more people dogging through them...BUT, they can be found in the city too...you just have to be very lucky and bee at the right place at the right time. You pretty much have to be at the store soon after they put them out. It's hard though because there are dealers that hang out at the stores just waiting for stuff to be put out!
I bet it has. I was going to do it at my old house on the wall under the breakfast bar...that would have only taken 21 records...now i need to find the right (smaller) wall so it doesn't take a million records to cover it.
Yeah, I'm going back again soon to take another look...but a lot of the stuff i didn't get was because it wasn't something i wanted for my personal collection, and was too pricey to resell.

Nooiiice set up. Wow, that David City place had a ton of good jazz .. the Jazz at The Philharmonic lps are great even if just for the artwork.
Yeah! And those were just a dollar each!

@@VinylHunter Think you will like it... laid back and kind of outlaw country, somewhat like Guy Clark and Townes.
Homebound and crippled with multiple sclerosis, I enjoy my virtual record shopping on your videos, thanks and keep them coming.

Nice Dave Brubeck! I don't have that one yet. I'm still on the hunt for it.
Yeah, that's the first time I've ever seen it! ...and i think it may have only been a dollar?!
Wow! Those Jazz at the Philharmonic sets are amazing!! And what we’re they…a dollar each!? Fantastic!! Skol! Jeff
Yeah! Those were really cool!!! ...and they had a lot of lesser records priced higher!
Liberate the vintage vinyl LP records. Very cool album graphics & photographs!
I know! Such cool artwork on some of them! Sometimes i can't resist and I'll buy a record just because the cover its cool!
HiTuco! It’s nice to see a new video. I’ve never seen a cattle drive before, that was great. David City had some interesting stuff. Hope you’re doing well, take care.
Yeah! I figured there were a lot of viewers who had never seen a cattle drive, so i thought it would be fun to see!
Get yourself an external hard drive to keep your video files on so it doesn't use up your computers memory!
I do this with my huge music mp3 files.
That's what i ended up doing! So much better now!
