We were in Asheville last weekend as well, saw Ryan Adams at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium ... also checked out some records stores. Great town and fun trip!
Hi Dylan, I am going to see John Mellencamp next year, March 15, 2023. I still like going to concerts, but I skip the ones that cost too much. John is playing a small theater because he doesn't like playing large arenas anymore. Our theater keeps the tickets reasonable cost. Glad you had a good concert experience.
I LOVE Asheville! It's one of my favorite cities in the states and there's quite the music scene brewing there. I love all your videos and the genuine love you put into these videos. Judging from what you've been posting, sharing and liking, I thought you'd get a kick out of Dream Machine ''Living the Dream''. Total crazy cool band that's NEW (I never listen to new bands, call me jaded but it's true, lol). Groovy 70's synth stuff. Keep up the awesome content. Come do another Record Digging trip in Nashville and we'll buy you a beer!!!
OMG, I can’t believe you found a copy of Songs for the Old Religion by Gwydion. That just trips me out. I remember seeing it advertised in Gnostica magazine in the early 70s, and eventually I got a copy. It had some great songs on it…….especially if you are into magic….which I was, and still am! Lol! Hey, I met and hung out with Jim Allen and Selena Fox about that same time, they made some wonderfully magical music as well. Nothing like listening to songs full of,legend and magic on dusky autumn evenings! Love it! All the Best from Bald Mountain NC!
Darn, you just made me miss Asheville so much! I lived there from 2009 to 2013 and I absolutely loved the place. Maybe someday I'll find a way to go back and make it my home again. I used to haunt Harvest so bad. A weekly if not semi-weekly habit. Agree with you--probably one of, if not the, coolest record store in the country. Outstanding offerings of new and used, and everyone there, the owners and the staff, is super cool and friendly. Thank you for this video!
Gary, pretty much same years I was in there weekly. Stopped going in 2016 due to personal things at home. I'd say we probably were in there at the same at some point
Nice to hear about the new stores. I haven't been in Asheville since 2019. I'm there Monday for KG&theLW. I'll definitely hit up a store or two. Short on time and money. Probably gonna hit Harvest or Voltage and Static Age.
Ashamed to say I practically live within walking distance of the first store you visited and I still haven't been there Harvest Records used to be my stomping ground back when I was buying a lot of vinyl ( it's mainly CDs now) . They were really good to me. I need to try to get back out there as well Voltage and Static Age were also nice to visit. Always seemed to have a good selection of heavy metal. I wasn't aware of Citizen Vinyl. Will have to check them out I'm glad you found some essential vinyl for your collection. :)
Lots of fantastic albums! Wow! Looks like some cool record stores that you visited. Congrats on the W.I.T.C.H experience. Must of been a great experience.
Glad you found so many promos. I tend to grab them too. I like when they are gold stamped, numbered and some of the old school white glued on paper with times. A bit unique and I find the vinyl is more times than not NM.
a few diffs between 1st and 2nd pressing of Pieces Of Silver. namely the gakubushi frame (non gloss) on the front cover and the label differences on the 1st press (lexington ave). but for all intents and purposes they are pretty much the same
Dude..THNX for letting me check out what you unearthed👍 glad you enjoyed the show.who'd a thought you could see a trippy good band like Witch in this age of blah
More on that 'Sharkey' private press - that's John Sharkey who was in San Jose band Syndicate of Sound of 'Little Girl' sorta fame (1966). He ended up living here in Eugene, Or. and gave music lessons for decades, Didn't do any performing as far as I can recall. Don't know if he's still around or doing lessons as his ads in the local weekly have disappeared. Picked a copy of that record in a local store probably 45 years ago.
Some nice finds. Those Paul Wellers Chris Isaak Annie Lennox you can't go wrong. You should check out Roddy Frame's Aztec Camera lps sometime. Good Scottish Country Rock, part of 80's New Wave.
Harvest is my favorite. Always find good stuff at Citizen but no deals can be had there lol Theres a pretty good antique mall down the road from there that usually has good stuff.
I have family in Mt Airy and Winston-Salem. Next time we're up there (I live in Florida), I want to come see your store. We went to Asheville a few years ago and I'd like to go back there, as well. I'm a 59-yr-old classic rock chick - LOL - and I love listening to you talk about your newest finds.
Hey bud i live in asheville and collect. I remember when there were only like two tiny shops. Next time you wanna come this way holla and i can show you some spots way off the radar!
Hit 3 store's in Asheville when I drove to Matthews NC 7 years to work. You were probably still selling in that food truck van. Do you have a photo of that van?
I went almost 12, 13 years between shows. Buddy Guy in '09 or '10 in Durham and then went August 30th and saw Black Label Society. Seeing Dropkick Murphys this coming Friday.
I love your channel and I’d love to make the trek to your store some day, but I live in KY and it isn’t very often I have the chance. I love records that have have Robert Williams ( ie. GnR, Scatterbrain, etc.) covers; mainly because that’s my name as well and I had the original Appetite at one time, but I think I may have sold it at some time. I’m looking forward to your livestream Tuesday as I just opened a Whatnot account. Hopefully I can score something or make it up your way sometime in the near future.
Enjoyed watching this while sipping my coffee. I never get tired of seeing how much joy music truly seems to bring to you. It’s all over your face and I think that’s one of the reasons that always encourages me to get out there and keep diggin’! Thanks dude!
Dude, that Gwydion is awesome. Reminds me of my mother's (a Wiccan) old Jim Alan tapes. Say, are you a Current 93 guy by chance? Any of their vinyl floating around? I have baubles and trinkets to adorn you with.
Philly has lots of great record stores. You showed lots that you don't normally see. V cool. Different regions, different vinyl. Have you ever been to Philly? I think the stores would blow your mind! Philly Record Exchange, Hideaway, Main St Music, Long In The Tooth, Brewerytown Beats, Repo, Milkcrate Cafe... These are my FAVORITE. I could tell you about all of them & give you a tour. I shtt you not. They all have something different to offer. Just off the top of my head. Have u ever hear of Harmonica Dan? THEY, whoever they are, say he has the greatest psych Collection on the east coast. And he plays a real wild harmonica. A true space cadet in the best sense. I told him he was my dad's cousin (who he hadn't seen in decades). He stared blankly at me & rang me up. U tube him. This is just the tip of the iceberg for record stores/music culture in Philly. This would make a killer holiday... DM DJPhillyDave on IG if yr so inclined. Oh, and love yr vids. Hope to visit the store some day. 🤘✌️😉😎
Man, totally digging this Witch 'Introduction'! Streaming it currently and it's sounding like a crispy vinyl but I absolutely love it. Thanks again for always turning me on to killer tunes bro
Another great video, Dillon, and lots of great records. I found a promo copy of Realization in a local thrift store (along with promo copies of Jaco's first album and Keith Jarrett's as well). $1 each and all in unplayed condition. Money well spent.
When I moved to the Asheville area a few years back, Harvest spoiled me. Those guys keep great stuff and the prices are beyond fair. Needless to say, they have beefed up my collection. What did you think of the artwork at Records in the RAD? I need to check out Earth River... Glad you had a great trip! TB
Cool that you had your Witch albums signed by Jagari (?)! He's seems very humble and generous! Great that you had experienced the record stores as a customer rather than a vendor. Great video!
What’s up man, I am a North Carolina resident and I’ve recently came into a very very large, vast and from the research I’ve done quite rare vinyl record collection. In your professional opinion would you recommend someone to sell the entire collection at a bulk price or piece each record out individually?? Thank you! Not sure how far your store is from Wilmington NC but if it’s not too far I may be stopping by with the entire collection. I really want them to go to someone who is gonna appreciate and cherish them just as the original owner did.
Love your videos man been watching for a few months and just subscribed. Much love from the UK 👊👊 I’m a digger myself more on the Jazz Soul Funk Library and HipHop side than you but still all your “other” recommendations kill.
Just waiting for the "and I was walking back to my hotel and I passed by the landfill and there was 3 box of Stooges records. And they are all white label promos and all mint"
Thank you for these videos, Im always watching these videos I love your knowledge and Taste of music. One day I would love to visit your shop and go on a giant record hunt I do collect records but I live in England Bournemouth. Thank you for these videos I’m always trying to find new music to listen to and these videos are perfect for that.
Chris Isaak is bad to the bone, no matter which album. I am kinda like a music historian too. You can't object to the any Folkways/Verve recordings as well as any of the Smithsonian/Folkways and the Reader's Digest boxsets which the mastering is done by RCA and is outstanding. btw, white label promos are great because the masters are not worn at that point and IMHO sound better
We were in Asheville last weekend as well, saw Ryan Adams at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium ... also checked out some records stores. Great town and fun trip!
funny, I was also in Asheville last week. The fall colors were incredible. Saw Blues Traveler at the Orange Peel. Visited Citizen Vinyl.
16:56 wow impressive!
If I ever get down to the south I know I need to visit Matthews and Asheville NC!
Luv THE THE Mind Bomb... I gotta get me a copy. Thanks for letN us share in the GOOD TIMES... 👍
Harvest is one of my favorite record stores ever!
as an asheville record collector this makes me happy to see

The Witch story was awesome! Thanks for sharing! And thanks for the video as always!

Last time I went to Asheville I bought over 50 records all over the city. Great town for digging.

Super interesting video. Thank you Dillon…
That's a real cool story about meeting WITCH, they sound like great guys.
Ashamed to say I practically live within walking distance of the first store you visited and I still haven't been there

I go to Harvest everytime I go to Asheville and went to the two downtown stores last month. Cool to hear about those newer stores!
Gonna have to hit those spots. Our daughter has a house up on the mountain in Burnsville. Visiting in a couple of weeks.
Lots of fantastic albums! Wow! Looks like some cool record stores that you visited. Congrats on the W.I.T.C.H experience. Must of been a great experience.

First concert in over a decade? Wowza. I’ve been averaging one week for probably 25 years!
a few diffs between 1st and 2nd pressing of Pieces Of Silver. namely the gakubushi frame (non gloss) on the front cover and the label differences on the 1st press (lexington ave). but for all intents and purposes they are pretty much the same

Great info! Thanks so much! Not much online about it!
Some nice finds. Those Paul Wellers Chris Isaak Annie Lennox you can't go wrong. You should check out Roddy Frame's Aztec Camera lps sometime. Good Scottish Country Rock, part of 80's New Wave.
I saw The The live a couple times, Paul Weller too. Good stuff. Dusk and Mind Bomb are from the Johnny Marr era, both perfect albums.
Good to see some love for The The, been a fan since soul mining. Have a few he showed from a collection I acquired, but not dusk.
I saw Witch here in Portland! It was so good!
Harvest is my favorite. Always find good stuff at Citizen but no deals can be had there lol

Stanley Road especially but also Heavy Soul by Weller is up there.

Wow! That sounds like an amazing experience with WITCH. I didn't know it was an acronym.
I went almost 12, 13 years between shows. Buddy Guy in '09 or '10 in Durham and then went August 30th and saw Black Label Society. Seeing Dropkick Murphys this coming Friday.
Awesome!

Very nice finds.I collect promos as well I have a huge bunch of county promos
Hi Dillon looks like you had a great time buddy, so many fantastic record stores there 😀 all the best from a very jealous person in England 🇬🇧.
Philly has lots of great record stores. You showed lots that you don't normally see. V cool. Different regions, different vinyl. Have you ever been to Philly? I think the stores would blow your mind! As I've aged the ONLY band I have had the ambition to go see was RUSH. Other than them I'd prefer to sit at home and spin records!
Oh man. I saw over 10 shows this last year!
Really need to snag a copy of the Folkways' frog songs record at some point.
Very happy for you man that you got to meet witch sounds like you had a great time ☠️😆🎸
Nice Haul ! good video
Hello, nice video by the way, just wondering with so much music
have you time for a book?
A sweden fan.....
Dillon. Listen to that self titled Weller album.....his first solo. Fantastic record. Greetings and regards from Nick, (Brighton, England).
UTA!
Man, totally digging this Witch 'Introduction'! Streaming it currently and it's sounding like a crispy vinyl but I absolutely love it. Thanks again for always turning me on to killer tunes bro
You ever go to that flea market in north Georgia where the guy has tens of thousands of records?
Another great video, Dillon, and lots of great records. I found a promo copy of Realization in a local thrift store (along with promo copies of Jaco's first album and Keith Jarrett's as well). $1 each and all in unplayed condition. Money well spent.

When I moved to the Asheville area a few years back, Harvest spoiled me. Those guys keep great stuff and the prices are beyond fair. Needless to say, they have beefed up my collection.
What did you think of the artwork at Records in the RAD?
I need to check out Earth River...
Glad you had a great trip!

Cool
Mazzy’s old JBLs in Asheville
Can I buy Dusk off of you? And Mind Bomb? I’ve been searching for those for years!
Small shows are the best. I'm not into the big concerts. To see WITCH live would be well worth it to say the least!
want that GP promo!
I would love to buy some of your lps
Are you selling the GP?
Love your videos man been watching for a few months and just subscribed. Much love from the UK 👊👊 I’m a digger myself more on the Jazz Soul Funk Library and HipHop side than you but still all your “other” recommendations kill.
