    Had watched the videos for months before taking the almost two hour ride to get it to the Jeep Whisperer. Im glad to see it was well worth the time and money. My step son saw the video and he is almost jumping out of his boots. It was my first Jeep purchase and i was not smart enough to look for such obvious damage. That will not happen again, but i will be looking for my own once he graduates. Love the Jeep, and really appreciate the saving of "OleYella".

    Wow! It is unbelievable the kind of restoration magic you perform on these Jeeps. I'm cringing as you do the walkaround showing us the damage on these Jeeps and you just calmly describe it and attack the problem with great resolve. In my opinion, you are an advocate for the Jeeps, saving many Jeeps from the scrap metal pile. I learned a lot, some beautiful welding. Carry On Sir!

    MorFab, I never laughed so loud about a video!!! That is exactly the kind for work that a critter I gave my jeep to would do!! Before I had the work redone on mine, I observed that if 2 bolts came from a particular location he would only put in 1, if 3 bolts came from another location he would put back 2, 4 bolts would be replace with 2 and so forth. My dash was vibrating like heck because he did not secure it down with the hooks and bolts at the back towards the engine bay. That was a nightmare work done to that Jeep before it got to your place. I am sure the customer was extremely happy with your work. Keep up the good work. You have no idea how much us Jeepsters love our rigs!! The dealers in my neck of the wood thinks I've lost my mind relative to my 2001 TJ. Man I love that Jeep. I may end up coming to you in the future. Awesome work. First class repairs.

    But if that was done by a shop...shame.

    I'm guessing that the cost of repairs would come close to the cost of a new frame. Swapping the frame would have been a good project
    for the customer and the outcome would be worth the expense .

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cost of repair was literally half of the cost of a new frame alone. Never mind the labor to install a new frame.

  • @queensapphire7717
    @queensapphire7717 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you live in the rust belt, hose that frame completely 4-5X a year, I’m talking inside and out, gotta get that road salt removed. Car wash “chassis bath” is useless, I hear they use recycled “contaminated” water, that is full of road salt from previous washes, which is no help, you need fresh, un contaminated water.

  • @metalmaniaxx
    @metalmaniaxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was told this type of work shouldn't be done, because the heat of the cutting and welding will cause the parent metal to severely weaken. Is that true? And how strong is this repair as compared to the original factory strength when new?

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is true to some extent. It mostly applies to heavy duty C-Channel frames for larger trucks. Those are done by adding multiple layers of c-channel. In a light duty box style frame like the jeep, it's more than strong enough. The strength is actually increased due to the fact that the safetcap is larger overall than the factory frame.

    Forgive me if I've missed it, but with the vertically cracked and separating section of frame did you add any patch or strengthen on the top side of the tube ? Or just the plates on the sides tying everything back together above/along the bracket? Rewatching several times and reading through the comments I still cant seem to find my answer.
    I am encountering a similar crack, but without nearly as much movement on my fiancé's 99 TJ near the rear trail arm bracket where the large factory cutout sits. Just trying to wrap my head around the frame damage, gain perspective, and contemplate our options.
    Really appreciate your videos and commitment to repair over replace, keep doing this awesome work to keep the old beasts rolling down the trail!

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good morning! So the repair covers both sides and the bottom of the frame creating a U shaped repair. This repair extends all the way up the sides to within about 1/4” of the top of the frame. Usually if the crack extends above that last 1/4”, I will weld the crack itself or in extreme cases I’ll plate the top of the frame as well. I hope that helps!
