Can we applaud this women for at least being honest! It’s an expensive truck and she bought it early… prices are now dropping, so I’m sure she sees that and wishes she waited. I give her props for her transparency
$58,704 is an absolutely insane price for a midsized middle of the road pickup, of any brand. I purchased my 2020 Tacoma TRD off-road for $32,480 OTD, in April 2020, just after the COVID shutdown. Is it a $26,224 better pickup? I would be hard pressed to justify paying that much of a premium, especially with moving to a 4 cylinder turbo motor. I believe that Toyota has priced itself out of the market for many long term Taco owners, especially with the competition available in the market today. I do wish you all the best with your new truck, it is certainly an upgrade in many respects, but personally, I will pass for now.
@gorillaump5869 That’s not true. My Canyon AT4, which has a much nicer interior, more power, more payload, more towing, auto 4wd has an msrp of $46k. Apples-to-apples the Tacoma is way more expensive than GM, Ford, and Nissan.
The upgrades are not worth the price tag. 3rd gen is not perfect but it’s a good value compared to the 4th gen. Gx550-off-road is 100% correct newer TRD pro have upgraded price tags with less value
We thought we'd be getting a new 2024, but after seeing the OOTD pricing on what we wanted in our Off-Road we realized it wasn't gonna happen. Ended up finding an Off-Road 2023 in Lunar Rock (dream color) used that fit our budget much better. This is our first truck and we've already used the HECK out of it; totally worth it. Your content helped us during the research and buying process, thanks for the transparency on pricing!
I almost didn't get it because it was too much....but I figured they weren't going to get cheaper and my trade in ('21 sr5) was only going to go down, so I just did it. Otherwise, I was never getting another new one.
I saved for years and ended up getting a lunar rock manual transmission and I love it! My last truck was a 1999 Ford ranger 4cyl manual transmission so this was a huge upgrade for me
It takes courage to put out an opinion piece like this and I admire you for that! In 2005 I bought a beautiful blue SR5 manual 4 banger for $17,000. In 2019 a TRD Off-road manual 6 banger for $40,000 and it'll be my last vehicle purchase. When a truck costs as much as my first house did in 1988 I'm done. Keep up the excellent content young lady.
60K for Tacoma offroad is insanely expensive, but if you are happy with the purchase and can afford it, then I say you made the right choice. Your happiness is just very expensive lol
It’s a poorly built truck and the 4 Cylinder Turbo Engine is going to have big problems if you tow or put bigger tires, and Turbo engines do not last. Period. Ask any Toyota mechanic or reputable ASE certified mechanic, they are expensive to repair and do not last past 150K miles. Also, the automatic and manual transmissions are failing at a high rate. The 2024 Tacoma and the 2022, 2023, and 2025 Tundras are being recalled for that Twin Turbo V6 Engine. Toyota had become a greedy and cheap vehicle manufacturer now. For shame Toyota. Do better or your customers will not buy or step foot on your dealerships.
Congratulations on your new truck. Whenever a person can save enough money to purchase a vehicle they have their heart set on, DO IT! You only live once and financing means paying interest and interest means "other people's money". If you're happy and feel good about what you did, then don't worry or listen to what other people say. Kudos to you for sharing your experience. Cheers!
I'm proud of you to paying cash for your new truck. I ordered a '23 TRD OR Premium, put a substantial amount down and paid it off within the first year. Like you, I' was very specific about what I wanted, paid MSRP and waited 5 months to get it. I love not having the payment(we're 100% debt free). About the only time I can justify financing a vehicle is 0.0% APR or if the incentives encourage going through financing for a short time. At 52 years old, I hope to never borrow money for anything ever again.
For giggles, I built a Trailhunter, on Toyota Canada website. OTR price is $97,000+. Before extended warranty or any extras. For a Tacoma... Pretty sure I won't see many of those on the road soon.
You shouldn’t have to justify it to others, everyone’s circumstances are different as you mentioned, but the transparency provided is nice to know. You always come across so professional and well thought out, keep up the great work. I’m looking forward to the build to see additional ideas I can implement into my 2024 Sport premium. 👍
The price increase over previous years is pretty crazy. Sure they added and changed a lot but damn. I paid just a little over 43k out the door for my fully loaded 2020 OR 4x4.
It’s because of Posers. Remember Timberland before pop stars wore it to pose in it. Timberland Finds Poser’s Market. Prices, color & styling option to “Wazoo”. Now we got bunch YT posers.
Chloe, I could be wrong but I thought it would be much more beneficial to you, if you had your car financed through the dealership, they would have saved you more money out the door then the $1,000 discount you did get. Make sure there is not an early pay off penalty. Contact the financial department of the company holding your loan to make sure the exact amount to pay off the loan. Once you get your first payment in the mail, write out a check for the full amount.
I paid 42k out the door for a TRD Sport. I got 4k off MSRP and all the dealer add ons removed from the price but got to keep them. But I love it and its been my favorite model so far. Ive owned a 04, 07, 18 and now 24.
@@donays8241 it was a lot of back and forth but I didn't leave feeling ripped off. Thats the most important part for me anyway, not having regrets the next day.
I had a brand-new 2022 TRD Off-Road 4x4 premium and hated the brakes on it. I now have a brand-new GMC AT4X and love the truck with no complaints. I am not a brand fanboy.
@@Mark_Thompson lol Like what? a recall on a Nut? I have a 2023 TRD OR, The truck is great and still holds it value if not even worth more then what I paid for, People like you will always try hard enough to find something bad to say
What you really mean is...not the first year of a TOYOTA. Funny how well the new Frontier launched without transmissions dying, diffs breaking, shock towers blowing out... People coddle and protect their beloved fan brand by implying that ALL manufacturers BLOW IT as bad as Toyota, the SUPPOSED "reliability " brand...
Look elsewhere I just bought a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Sticker price 53,000 out the door price 50,000. Discount brought it down to 46,000. I paid no dealer fees. I only paid taxes tag and title. I decided to add a bumper-to-bumper 8 yr 100k mile warranty through Chevy and GM for $2,500. Still way cheaper than the taco. And I can fit people in the backseat. Peace of mind. The ZR two is so much more impressive than the Toyota. Sales down 20% this year GM Colorado sales up 29%.
The sales of the Tacoma are down because it just went on sale not even 6 months ago, of course it is down because there is very little availability, and the Colorado sales are up because it has been on sale for more than a full calender year so they have been able to ramp up production. If you look at the sales of the Colorado when they switched to the new gen, it took a huge nose dive, same thing with the new Ranger.
I’ve loved you since I bought my Silver 19 Tacoma in 21. Then found an Electric Lime 23 with 7k on the clock last year. Finally let Silver Beast go last month to a coworker. All around good for everyone. That said, you opening up your life story in this episode was magic. Now I know why have loved you since day one, way back then. Keep being you because you’re like awesome and stuff! 🌈🌪⚡️
How do you like your 2023 Tacoma? I am strongly considering purchasing a third generation after all of the transmission issues coming out about the fourth generation...
@@kennedymccorstin4750 I love it. People are already hitting 300k in the 3rd gen. Videos on here. It’s my second, had a 2011 Tacoma so I have no worries. I got the long bed because that’s what I had before. Just harder to find. I have no complaints.
@@Kevin45792 Thanks for taking the time to respond! I currently own a 2004 Toyota Rav4 which was my first car purchase and has lasted me close to a decade. I have almost 230k on it but can't wait to purchase a Taco :)
@@kennedymccorstin4750 I love mine. Plenty of power from a proven truck design that will last. I can't imagine paying all that $ for a brand new truck that's having issues.
Love your videos! I’m a Toyota nut Myself. In the last few years I’ve taken advantage of the market and traded up from a RAV4 to a Tacoma to a 4Runner and now the new Land Cruiser. I rented the new Tacoma from my local dealer and loved the new power train. Can’t wait to start mods on this LC and I’m excited to see what you do with the new Tacoma!!
I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport in the family which a paid 36k moderately optioned new in 19. We needed another vehicle in the family as my son is now driving so decided on a fully loaded Chevy Colorado ZR2 which I paid 52,500 out the door. I've always been both a Toyota and Chevy guy (we also have a Lexus GX460 which has been rock solid), so wasn't a big brand shift for me. I just couldn't justify the price of the new Tacoma vs. the Chevy as you just don't get as much for your money. People will say I've given up reliability, but I never keep anything past 100K so not worried about it. After driving the ZR2 for 8K miles, I don't regret a thing and love it. Just another perspective.
I bought an off road, love the truck. It drives very well, power where you need it, handles nice and I would do it again. 90 miles trip at 70-85 mph, no problem. I love the truck and it looks good.
@@craigcattelle5146 thanks! 😂 She looks so uncomfortable like she wants to call him out and just knows everything he’s saying is complete nonsense. Look, keep your stupid push button tailgate, your 4 cylinder turbo, and your rats nest looking engine. Bring back the V6, come back to reality, and never ask for 50-60k for a MIDSIZE truck. GTFO with this nonsense. If you want to make the TRD pro with every stupid feature under the sun and charge double for it, great. Do that, but most of us just want a bullet proof truck at a reasonable price.
I don't make judgments on anyone's finances or what they buy and drive. That being said if you're happy with what you paid and got what you wanted that's all that matters... It's a beautiful truck!! Toyota has a great reputation for reliability which is something that is VERY important to me, I've been buying Toyota vehicles exclusively since 1990 when I bought my first 4X4 Pickup and I paid $15,500 out the door, I drove that truck for 20yrs without ANY major problems when I gave to my daughter, she traded it in 3yrs ago. I also bought a 1995 Four Runner that my wife drove for 10yrs til it was totaled in a wreck....My latest purchase was a 2019 TRD 4X4 that I bought from my neighbor 3yrs ago that he had upgraded with a lift, top of the line suspension and bigger tires and rims. He had over 5k in those upgrades.... I paid 35,000 cash, no financing for that truck (I hate care payments) I would never buy a used vehicle, you never know what abuse they may have had, but I've known my neighbor for 20yrs and I know he never abused anything he drove... The truck had ONLY 2,000 miles on it!!! He almost never drove it which is why he sold it. It's now my daily driver, it runs like a dream and it may very well be the last vehicle I ever buy, I'm retired and I don't drive a whole lot either, the odometer turned to 17,000 miles this week. The truck is barely 'broken in' as far as I'm concerned, it looks and drives like it's brand new. So long story short, I hope you're happy with your new truck. I'm sure you'll get lots of enjoyment out of it....Looking forward to seeing how you 'trick' this new one out!!!
I'm also in San Diego and I've wanted to get a Tacoma for a while but those prices make it seem impossible. I could never justify that price even with my software engineering salary.
@@jbcope1000 Agreed, Toyota Carlsbad is a joke. Look at their markups on landcruisers and 24' 4runner trd pro 😂 As the adage goes, vote with your wallet, unfortunately, it seems folks in the SD area seem to vote with their feelings hence Toyota Carlsbad continue gouging.
I bought my 2020 TRD offroad at Toyota Escondido over laborday weekend 2020. At the time they had the best prices out of any dealership in the county including Temecula. Avoided the $5K bump up most dealerships were charging for a 4x4 at the time
22k miles on my 24 TRD OR. Love it. Its a lease road beast and gets GREAT gas mileage. Only issues so far are the knob fell off and a cracked windshield with a replacement on order but no idea when they get it in.
In this economy this past decade, I’ll never buy a Truck this expensive when it’s a depreciation asset! I much prefer a older Tacoma truck maybe 7 years old and invest the remaining money to appreciating assets or further investments that brings a ROI (Return of Investment) along the rocky road we are in
Beaver Toyota in North GA has 3 2024 TRD Pro Hybrids... well over MSRP. ($83k+) Other dealers are selling for actual MSRP. My neighbor bought his fully loaded 2024 Tacoma TRD PRO Hybrid for $68k. Not sure what some dealers "know" but dang, that's a lot of markup! Glad you're happy with your truck! Enjoy it!
Haters are going to hate. You did it right by paying in cash with current interest rates. Its shocking how many people living paycheck to paycheck finance let alone make the decision to purchase a $50k+ depreciating asset.
I knew the price going in when I ordered my 2024 Tacoma Limited. What someone is willing to pay is a personal decision and you should not seek out others thoughts on what you paid. Be happy with your purchase and keep trucking!

To think I bought my 1st vehicle truck in 1982 for $500.00. I've watch your channel and was stoked to by a 24 Taco till i saw the prices and got a Nissan Frontier, no regrets and cash leftover in my pocket. Congrats on your purchase 🎉.
Chloe i bought a tacoma extra cab with 22R 4 cylinder alpine green 2WD $22.000 out the door in summer of 1997, best truck i have ever owned. Thanks for Sharing
I waited for the new Tacoma to come out just because they were King of the segment for so long but here in Calgary Canada they wanted 70,000 with taxes for a TRD sport so I laughed in their face went across the street and got a Colorado ZR2 for 65,000 a much better truck and competes evenly with a TRD Pro or Trail Hunter
Yep and reliability probably better, I know GMs warranty at least is good. Toyota is voids warranty’s based off what your car tells them since its monitoring its customers
I purchased my Sport in Orange County for $51k OTD. The suggested MSRP was $46k without taxes, registration, etc. I've been looking since October and wasn't able to locate the color and options I want until June. I've went to four dealership and they were not willing to go below $50k OTD. The only thing it doesn't have is the automatic tailgate which I overlooked because it had all the other functionality I had. But low key, the automatic gate would have been great. Congrats on your new Taco! I look forward to your upcoming mods and reviews.

damn, seems like that dealer really stuck it to you. taxes and licenses fees aren't fees you can avoid cause it goes to the state. you shouldn't pay the processing and delivery fee because that is paid from the manufacturer to the dealership or reimbursed I forgot which one. doc fees, why do you have to pay a fee for them to process your application for them to sell you a car? that is probably like an extra $2K you got scammed out. on top of that since you're not showing everything we don't really know how much they actually overcharged you for the tacoma. regardless these tacomas built in mexico, with sub par materials as the previous generation and now starting to have problems are not worth what they are asking for even at msrp or their discounts. YOU NEVER BUY A VEHICLE CASH, this is why they also screwed you. even if you're going to buy the vehicle cash you finance the vehicle through the dealer because they will give you the best possible deal on the vehicle or otdp. then when you get your first bill or any information regarding your loan you call the bank up and payoff the loan. paying a few days of interest because you financed a vehicle will save you thousands in the price of a vehicle if you're not stupid and know how to negotiate.
Here's the Copilot version of your rant; you might want to consider for next time: It sounds like that dealer really took advantage of you. Taxes and license fees are unavoidable since they go to the state. However, you shouldn’t have to pay the processing and delivery fee, as that cost is typically covered by the manufacturer or reimbursed to the dealership. As for the documentation fees, it’s questionable why you should pay for them to process your application to sell you a car. That could be an extra $2,000 you were overcharged. Additionally, without seeing all the details, it’s hard to determine how much they overcharged you for the Tacoma. Regardless, these Tacomas, built in Mexico with subpar materials compared to the previous generation and now starting to have problems, are not worth their asking price, even at MSRP or with discounts. You should never buy a vehicle with cash. This is another way they took advantage of you. Even if you plan to buy the vehicle with cash, you should finance it through the dealer to get the best possible deal on the vehicle or out-the-door price. Then, when you receive your first bill or any loan information, you can call the bank and pay off the loan. Paying a few days of interest because you financed the vehicle can save you thousands on the price if you know how to negotiate effectively.
That’s a lot of money for a truck but unfortunately, that’s what they cost now. Good job being patient enough to save and buy what you wanted! Too many people are impatient or unrealistic about big purchases. I hope the new engine and transmission live up to the standards of the old reliable ones
Truck lovers are a special breed. As a car lover I'd never understand dropping all that cash for a vehicle type just to be a little higher, rides worse and worse mpg than a car. I'm saving to get a base model Frontier. A simple V6 and a simple 8 speed auto.
Bash truck lovers , but then buy a truck? Lol. Either way frontier is a good option now. Fully boxed frame, reliable NA V6, and 9 speed transmission designed by Mercedes. Used you'll save tens of thousands of dollars compared to 24 Taco
Nice Tacoma! I'm still loving my 09 4x4 with 125k miles still running strong. I have cash like you but holding off on a purchase right now. Might give my Tacoma to my grandson when he starts driving. Enjoy your new ride!
I ordered my ‘24 Sport Premium. $55k out the door. I sold my ‘20 Lincoln Aviator Black label grand touring and paid for the truck. Glad to get rid of the very high probability of the battery going south in the next couple of years. The Lincoln was a really nice ride, but I enjoy the truck much more . I also have a ‘21 Sport heavily optioned. The new truck is way more truck. Yeah, Im an old guy (Vietnam veteran ) but I really enjoy my vehicles
From my local observation it's usually the small pickup trucks that actually get used for hard work, humping garden waste etc. Occasionally a bigger truck has been customized as a work truck with say a special frame on the bed, or it's covered in company logos. Mostly though they appear to be emotional support trucks.
I just received my 24 TRD PRO in terra after waiting 3+ months and Im having a blast with it. The hybrid engine is super zippy but definitely more geared toward power than economy. I paid 89 all said and done (Canada) which was the same as the print out from the Toyota website. When asked, the dealer said they aren't aloud to mark up above MSRP 🤷🏻♂️
I just looked at a 2024 Tundra that was $66,000 no damn way that little 4 banger is worth $63,000 especially when it hasn't been proven if the turbo 4 is reliable
I think we're going to see a lot of problems from that turbo engine, and did customers actually ask for that, or did Toyota just force it on them? Apart from the inflated sticker price that seems the biggest change for the '24 Tacoma, and they both seem to be negatives.
In the United States, direct manufacturer auto sales are prohibited in almost every state by franchise laws requiring that new cars be sold only by dealers.
0:34 I found out on google: The 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has a starting MSRP of $15,345-$27,250. Can someone tell me how the F*** we ended up at a base price of $63,900 in 10 years???
Chloe - I too recently purchased a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road. To be honest - all I was looking for was the Solar Octane color which I hear is a $425 add... I would have been happy with an SR5. It took months of searching and I finally found one at the same lot I purchased my 2022 SR5 Tacoma. I do Agree - I went back and forth A LOT with Sales... Same MSRP $42,900. This one had mud guards, Door Edge Guards, and the Upgrade Package ($4,649) plus Delivery/Processing/Handling.. Brought it to a whopping $50,525.00 in the end, I was able to get them to drop about $2k from their asking price and I was able to slide over about $10,000. of equity from my 2022 then leased.. I walked out of the dealership twice - the numbers weren't where I wanted them - and I was perfectly fine leaving with old my Blue Crush SR5. Both times the sales folks magically found some more reductions and got things closer to a more manageable monthly payment... I'm really happy with my choice... I think the only gripe (and it's not really a gripe) is that this new truck likes to pull the wheel away from me if I stray to close to lines - it used to just BEEP... I love your clips. You're doing a great job...
No Sales tax states ram it to you in other taxes .....food etc....property taxes etc...😮 No free rides unless u are an illegal immigrant, then everything is FREE 😮
Congratulations on being financially smart! I'm a fan of Toyota but I would buy a Ranger Raptor for that price. California sales tax is a joke I live in Hawaii and sales tax is 4%
It is ok. She paid for it in cash. She is not hurting for money. If you want to buy EXACTLY what you want, the dealership will rip you off. Go and try and find out.
I paid for my 2021 Sport 4X4 ,,, 61000 dollars.. My trade in had negative equity. I kinda sorta regret paying so much , but at the time (covid).... There was scarcity in production.. So paying 58000 seems good... Enjoy your new truck... Cheers!,,,.. BTW , thanks for all your previous vids..
its a really nice truck I don't think u got hurt for what u got its really nice. I paid 45 grand cash out the door in san francisco for my SR5 4x4 & then added the 3,700 bucks worth of TRD, and other upgrades skid plate cold air intake air filter oil cap radiator cap gear shifter knob Z36 tow brake package Michelin 10 ply E rated Defender mud and snow (work great on the beach by the way) I really like it and you're right the TRD intake makes a difference. 🎌
Great video In April I purchased the limited model because of the option it offers that other manufacturers don’t offer, such as heads up display and power steps Tacoma offers packages for all consumers Love my truck
First off - kudos to you for openly sharing the price and your experience...I think the more this type of information gets out the more "honest" the dealerships will have to be. In terms of pricing...I think that all trucks in this segment are priced higher than the value they offer. Given recent toyota recalls and tacoma drivetrain issues this is more prevalent with Toyota. In general the market it overpriced by ~15% relative to the new content of the trucks. Also, really appreciate the "paid in cash" sentiment...I think given the current interest rates financing or Leasing just isn't a smart choice for any consumer. Buy the car you can pay cash for...
if you are considering the Tacoma TRD Off Road look at the Chevy Colorado Trail Boss. I speced them both with as close as I could get them and the TB came to $43K and the Off Road came to $55K and then most Tacomas get the mark up and most Chevys get $1k-$4K off MSRP so that helps much more too
14:55 that’s funny because I have had an absolutely horrible experience at the dealership I bought my 3rd gen from. Every service I have been stuck with them for as well has been horrible and they have left my truck in worse off condition then I left it which is impressive
I live in Washington State and back in 2022, a Toyota dealership in north Seattle, marked up a Tacoma 10k just because it was the only one on their lot. The final price would have been close to $60,000. It was a 22, green TRD OFF-ROAD LB. Along with a few other issues, that was one of my worst experiences at a dealership. Also, this was the first time stepping into a Toyota dealership. Here in Washington, some dealers with drive a car around for a few hundred miles and then say it’s “used”. That way they can increase the price. They used to also add on a fee called, “Northwest Market Adjustment” which was from $3500 -10k.
At the end of the day Chloe it’s your truck and you got the deal you could at the time. As long as you feel good about that, that’s all that matters. You were transparent about what you paid for it and I’m sure the audience appreciated that. Theres always going to be naysayers but imo the price point has come ⬆️ quite abit between the Gen 3 & now the Gen 4. Hope this Taco brings you a lot of joy.
Well done. Financing any item that depreciates over time is THE worst financial decision anyone can make. This is something I try to ingrain into my children’s mindset. Enjoy ur well deserved price & be safe.
It depends on the vehicle you purchase, the market conditions, etc. I've had a few vehicles that were still worth what I paid for them, even after a few years, and the added mileage.. not all situations are the same.
Congratulations Chloe! Thank you for sharing this with us and being so transparent. I appreciate you and all you do! Good luck with your truck and I look forward to watching all your progress with the truck! I am a 3rd Gen truck owner and very happy!
Outstanding video I’m a huge fan of your channel… Thank you for all your hard work. You truly are a brilliant individual.🇺🇸❤️🙏 God bless you and your family peace☮️💜⭐️
I bought my 2011 prerunner sr5 2016 100k miles for $15k. I drove it for 7 years and put 70k on it then gave it to my son as his first car. He loves it. I told him ‘keep that truck for the rest of your life.’ He said ‘I will!’. I wish i had my dads 82 sr5 long bed. I would have but it got stolen and never recovered.
Thank you for letting us know the cost of your truck, and I'm sure you will enjoy it! I priced a new 2024 trd offoad on Toyota's website and it was close to 56k when I got to the final pricing. Toyota is relying on people who have purchased Toyota's in the past to justify their huge price increase in the past few years.
I am a 100% Toyota fan, I learned this from my father and grandfather from the country where I come from, we love Toyota, they are known for the quality of these vehicles, especially on bad roads! I have a Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 that I bought in 2018, I love this truck, so far I haven't had any problems! I think it will be my last Toyota, those prices are ridiculous, too much money.
I was going to trade my 2009 with 200,000k miles on a 2024 until I saw the pricing... so I just kept it and bought a Honda Civic 6 spd manual instead for 27,000. Best move I ever made.
Really great review and I give so much credit for the hard work. Truth be told I love Toyota and if things were different I would have bought one. Asking what they are asking is insane and a down right insult to the taco culture. I had so many problems with my 19 Tacoma, the service team, sales team, and corporate that the prices are the last straw. Sadly, while it is a great platform the competition is catching up and providing many of the same features at a much lower price. These rigs are not $15-20k better than the competition. To each their own, I mean no disrespect, but there are some great vehicles out that companies are standing by.
I drive an ‘18 F350 SuperDuty everyday for work and she beats the sh!t out of me. SUCH a rough ride and I don’t have to haul that much heavy construction material anymore. I wish I could roll around in a Baja truck to handle these ridiculously rough Colorado streets.
The bright side of your purchase is you bought exactly what you like, you can use it for a lot of things and it should last although it’s a new model but it should last so not a terrible pay especially if you have a good job you can quickly save that money if I was you I would save every month that 1000$ monthly payment you would have paid and put it in a high yields savings account. The negative is that you could of got it on a loan and wrote it off as the years go by idk how much your making on TH-cam but you should be able to right off you cars since it’s a Tacoma page and it brings in money that way however if I’m not mistaken since you paid cash you can only right it off this year idk I would have talked to my accountant before buying it.
Came over from your initial purchase video. Thanks for being open about the cost of the vehicle and how you paid for it. It seems like Toyota upgraded the tech but did little to increase the hp and towing. We’re in the market for a mid size pickup but are gravitating towards the frontier. A used 3rd gen Pro4x has 300hp 6200lbs of towing in a naturally aspirated V6 and can be found where we live (also SD) for $30k. The mid size truck segment prices for Toyota is out of hand and Toyota knows it but the consumers will pay the price for it. It’s just supply and demand. As nice as tacos are, I can’t imagine paying nearly $60k for a mid size truck. Congrats though.
Love your videos Chloe! I just sold my 2024 Limited Tundra fully loaded and lifted to purchase a 2024 Tundra Pro. Would love to trail with as I’m local to Carlsbad. Keep up with the great videos!
Wait till your front struts blow no bump stops, the bump stop is in the shock with one pinky size bolt, its already happening .I'll wait a year or so before I even look. But I do love your videos now. Good job👍
All of us, and I mean all, will have one BAD vehicle purchase experience (fortunately tends to be early on) and yes, it is painful… but its a great learning experience and makes us more savvy and patient consumers. In the end getting what you want is still winning… I bet next time you will find what you want and have a rucksack full of tools and weapons to get a fair deal P.S. we all love your content its top-tier, always
I bought my 2020 Taco TRD Sport using the USAA car buying program. The price offer I got was so good, I only negotiated the trade. COVID killed that program unfortunately.
I wonder if the slow supply is due to all the shared parts with so many other vehicles in the Toyota lineup. I think the Tacoma shares most parts with Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Lexus GX, … and some part or parts are struggling to ramp up and causing a bottle neck in production. They delayed the shipping of the hybrid about 6 months and then they are trickling in.
I also have AAA insurance in San DIego. Call them and speak with an insurance associate. Ask them to add "renter's insurance", it's like $60 a year, and lowers your policy even further since you now have a multiple insurance plan, which has a discount.
Great video as always Chloe. Your attention to detail and excellent communication skills are very much appreciated. I do have a concern about the transmission problems that I have been hearing about. Seems like this may be a big problem for the 2024s. Hopefully it won't be for you.
Thanks for your video, on top of the high price now I heard the Tacoma's are having problems with the Transmission, do you have any info about his. Thanks.
Can we applaud this women for at least being honest! It’s an expensive truck and she bought it early… prices are now dropping, so I’m sure she sees that and wishes she waited. I give her props for her transparency
Reported to have a bunch of problems, engine, tranny, and shocks

For 63k the Pro should come with a front locker and the twin turbo 6 from the Tundra.
And 5k cash in the glovebox.
Don’t think you would want than engine in your Tacoma atm.
Ya, they definitely need to get those failures sorted out.
For 64k you get a truck that’s front hood rattles like a mutha
@@jaymoar3561
lol yeah ive heard terrible thing about those engines.
that said have a look at the 24 tacoma transmission issue !!
At 63k for trd pro, bring back 2jz or throw in a b58/s58. Ineos lc inspired is really appealing with the engine alone
All the trucks in this segment cost about the same.. there is no cheap alternative unless you settle for less.
I bought my Tacoma in February of 2020 3% interest thousands off of msrp.Good times good times
Bought my 2020 trdor w/led package new before covid $35K 2.9% interest rate. And i thought that was a lot of money for a truck .
You’ll be much better off with the 23 for reliability too
They redesigned it
Translation : They ruined it. LoL 😂
Anybody know where I can buy either KYB or Tokico shocks for my TRD OFF-ROAD TACOMA?
I saved for years and ended up getting a lunar rock manual transmission and I love it! My last truck was a 1999 Ford ranger 4cyl manual transmission so this was a huge upgrade for me
It takes courage to put out an opinion piece like this and I admire you for that! In 2005 I bought a beautiful blue SR5 manual 4 banger for $17,000. In 2019 a TRD Off-road manual 6 banger for $40,000 and it'll be my last vehicle purchase. When a truck costs as much as my first house did in 1988 I'm done. Keep up the excellent content young lady.
my house cost $300k in 1990. worth $1.3m now
60K for Tacoma offroad is insanely expensive, but if you are happy with the purchase and can afford it, then I say you made the right choice.
I think buying a new car nowadays feels like a scam. Maybe it's just me.
Toyotas are a scam
it is. dealers rolling to the bank and the banks rolling to bigger banks.
I have a 2023 Tundra but like watching your video's. You seem very real , humble, realistic, smart and refreashing.
For giggles, I built a Trailhunter, on Toyota Canada website. OTR price is $97,000+. Before extended warranty or any extras. For a Tacoma... Pretty sure I won't see many of those on the road soon.
Holy Fucken hell… I know stuff is more expensive in Canada compared to US but that’s insane.
I same! Buy a Colorado ZR2 bison. 30,000 savings.
You just know, at some point, you’re going to see one rolling around the Costco parking lot.
If you see one, it may be roadside with a dead transmission...
I make 0 judgements and very much appreciate your openess and honesty about your purchase. Very genuine.
It’s your fault that she overpaid

thats wild. i got my 2021 tacoma trd pro with 19k miles a few months ago for $43,086 ootd. fully loaded but used of course.

I just bought a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.
I did the same. Enjoy your truck
Sure buddy
The sales of the Tacoma are down because it just went on sale not even 6 months ago, of course it is down because there is very little availability, and the Colorado sales are up because it has been on sale for more than a full calender year so they have been able to ramp up production. If you look at the sales of the Colorado when they switched to the new gen, it took a huge nose dive, same thing with the new Ranger.
Resale value not as good and gas mileage is less. But I do love the ZR2.
That’s because it’s Chevy!!!
I’ve loved you since I bought my Silver 19 Tacoma in 21. Then found an Electric Lime 23 with 7k on the clock last year. Finally let Silver Beast go last month to a coworker. All around good for everyone.

The look on Chloe’s face when the guy is trying to spew out Toyota’s price propaganda nonsense says it all. 😂😂😂

I paid 35,000 cash, no financing for that truck (I hate care payments)
I would never buy a used vehicle, you never know what abuse they may have had, but I've known my neighbor for 20yrs and I know he never abused anything he drove...

I bought my 2020 TRD offroad at Toyota Escondido over laborday weekend 2020. At the time they had the best prices out of any dealership in the county including Temecula. Avoided the $5K bump up most dealerships were charging for a 4x4 at the time

In this economy this past decade, I’ll never buy a Truck this expensive when it’s a depreciation asset! I much prefer a older Tacoma truck maybe 7 years old and invest the remaining money to appreciating assets or further investments that brings a ROI (Return of Investment) along the rocky road we are in

damn, seems like that dealer really stuck it to you. taxes and licenses fees aren't fees you can avoid cause it goes to the state. you shouldn't pay the processing and delivery fee because that is paid from the manufacturer to the dealership or reimbursed I forgot which one. doc fees, why do you have to pay a fee for them to process your application for them to sell you a car? that is probably like an extra $2K you got scammed out. on top of that since you're not showing everything we don't really know how much they actually overcharged you for the tacoma. regardless these tacomas built in mexico, with sub par materials as the previous generation and now starting to have problems are not worth what they are asking for even at msrp or their discounts.
You are very wrong. The documentation fee in her area is regulated by law and is currently 85 dollars which is cheaper than ny
Here's the Copilot version of your rant; you might want to consider for next time:
It sounds like that dealer really took advantage of you.

Better put a bump stop on the frame before you go off road !😅 😝
In the United States, direct manufacturer auto sales are prohibited in almost every state by franchise laws requiring that new cars be sold only by dealers.
0:34 I found out on google: The 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro has a starting MSRP of $15,345-$27,250. Can someone tell me how the F*** we ended up at a base price of $63,900 in 10 years???
I think I’m quite happy with my 2022 TRD Off-road Tacoma, it has the 3.5 V-6 engine. I can’t complain as it has been a reliable truck!
The heck with the dealer. Just create a service center. Dealers are a bunch of dirty scoundrels
$6000 in taxes and fees is crazy. Makes people want to go live in a no sales tax state.
No Sales tax states ram it to you in other taxes .....food etc....property taxes etc...😮 No free rides unless u are an illegal immigrant, then everything is FREE 😮
@@MW-bz1qe100 percent.
Congratulations on being financially smart! I'm a fan of Toyota but I would buy a Ranger Raptor for that price. California sales tax is a joke I live in Hawaii and sales tax is 4%
I'm sorry Chloe, I know you don't want to believe it, but it really feels like you got ripped off. That is way too little truck for that much money.
I paid 45 grand cash out the door in san francisco for my SR5 4x4 & then added the 3,700 bucks worth of TRD, and other upgrades
skid plate
cold air intake
air filter
oil cap
radiator cap
gear shifter knob
Z36 tow brake package
Michelin 10 ply E rated Defender mud and snow (work great on the beach by the way)
I really like it and you're right the TRD intake makes a difference. 🎌
Great video
In April I purchased the limited model because of the option it offers that other manufacturers don’t offer, such as heads up display and power steps
Tacoma offers packages for all consumers
Love my truck
Thank you for making these videos. It provides a bit of a fresh perspective from the normal truck videos. 🎉
if you are considering the Tacoma TRD Off Road look at the Chevy Colorado Trail Boss.
I paid 41.5k for my XLT 4x4 Ranger with Tow and Locking Rear Diff. Super sweet ride, and Made in USA!
Maybe if you never pay off the vehicle or use it to make money.
I bought mine for 39,800 or 41k OTD. I appreciate your videos on the truck!
I'm glad I got my 2022 Tacoma Off Road, 6-speed manual transmission for $42,000 including Premium packages, TRD exhaust, Toyota Tonneau.
I just got the 2024 tundra with I hybrid engine and I absolutely love the truck
In the end getting what you want is still winning… I bet next time you will find what you want and have a rucksack full of tools and weapons to get a fair deal
P.S. we all love your content its top-tier, always
Really love your dedication to these trucks and the brand as a whole! Cant wait for more off roading videos!
just got the 2024 off road for 43K! no leather but trd package 14 inch screen everything else I can do since the foundation is good!
Thanks.
That’s crazy!! I paid that out the door for my 2024 4Runner TRD Pro
