I’m a lesbian, and I just want to play a game as a hot female character. Just let us choose a hot male or female character in the game, and no woke bs in between.
As a woman gamer, I don't want to play as an ugly woman. I don't want to be represented as androgynous slop of flesh,we are curvy. Our stature, posture, and skelaton are different from men.. slapping a wig and adding stuffed bras on a character creator with men shoulders throat, and hips is disingenuous to women.. We want to play as beautiful women, women thay represent what we want to look like.. without the effort. I get that they're not going to have full on makeup on in the middle of a war but they can still look feminine and beautiful.
Delusion. Not all women are even cute to begin with. Majority aren't even curvy or sh*t without surgery, bbl, all that stuff. Those characters on this thumbnail look better than most women I see walking out and I'm pretty sure you aren't that different either. You guys want to play as cartoons and there's lot of cartoon characters out there to play as. Every character in gaming represents the role of the character. You can't have a cute cartoon characters as aloy in an apocalyptic survival world or a beautiful princess with curvy hips as the samurai I'm ghost of yotei. Better wake up to reality and stop dreaming. Most male protagonist in gaming are muscular, thing, cute, ugly and it all represents the role of the character and guys don't complain. You should have seen the depiction of humans in the 90s game and then start complaining. There are lots of ugly female characters in Hollywood films way worse than this gaming characters and you all don't complain because it's just the fact. They're real and gaming would alway depict realism. You're lucky they haven't started modeling fat women in gaming because they're lot of them in real life, wayyyyyyy more than your so called slim curvy angels 😂
That's your opinion and perception, but you don't speak for all women and describing a woman who doesn't look the way you think she should as "androgynous slop" says a lot about how you must perceive women who don't conform to beauty standards in your day to day life. Also it's pretty insane that you'd look at the character model in that trailer and think "androgynous slop"/ugly. Are women only allowed to have exaggerated kardashian bodies and have high sex appeal in video games?
I mean, they can be unlikable if it's part of the pathos. Hollywood is too afraid to make women with flaws, who have to overcome them, and grow. If games can frame undesirable traits as something to overcome, that can be interesting.
Erika eishi has worked in World of Warcraft, starfield, mortal kombat, Cyberpunk, destiny. Chuds like you can’t accept the fact that she is a talneted voice actor lmfao
I would argue that the media itself as a whole hates women. Seriously, most female characters are just guys with boobs, with any sense of femininity eliminated. I've gone back and watched movies from decades ago, and those ladies were awesome; also actually feminine, even the tough ones.
Femininity used to be more present in games, usually in the form of damsels or supportive roles. It doesn't lend itself well to action roles, but that wasn't a problem until the industry decided women shouldn't even look feminine anymore either.
Can you give me a recommendation of classic movies that had a feminine supporting female character or even as the lead character? Would love to setrilize my brain after getting too much of this DEI invested drama
@@aldinoindra2742 The African Queen, Gone with the Wind, Tomb Raider, Alien 1 and 2, Wizard of Oz, Kill Bill, Sister Street Fighter with Etsuko Shihomi, and there are countless Hong Kong kung fu flicks with female leads. There's a ton!
@@AliEemanSamy-lf9gl About that...Hamill is talented, but he's relatively unhinged when it comes to politics. Erika Ishii also acts with a similar decorum, which isn't necessarily a good sign. Daisuke Tsuji is way more down to earth in contrast.
Dumb question. Did these gamers had a problem with Stellar Blade. It's a misdirection, a gaslighting, to think that this is even about hating women and not about them pushing an agenda.
gender is not the problem. i played, horizon, bayonetta, kena, sometimes female characters in online games. the problem is the constant entitlement they keep portraying and changing the character is one of the issues that's happening. games are entertainment, that's it. now activists are making the industry a public issue ruining everything they touch.
This sums it all up here. What I hate most are those who latch onto the proponents of the agenda and defend it or ignore the decade's worth of examples that have led to pushback against things like Ghost of Yotei. Anyone who is paying attention already knows that the game will likely fulfill the new Southpark meme about the female lead, and many people are calling it out already. The thing is, given how many examples we have of it already, with Ellie from TLOU2, Aloy from Horizon, and even Black Cat from Spider-Man, it's become a patterned trend, and getting angry at people for recognising patterns will only make them more angry.
@@Meltdownlv100 You make it where the story involves her character growth and highlights how essential her character and traits are to the story. Otherwise she's just a skin swap, and at that point it is an agenda, especially if the story is inherently masculine. For instance, the stories for Stellar Blade and Nier Automota and Bayonetta worked because -- while they were actio heroines -- they also retained a lot of feminine attributes and those attributes were highlighted in the story themselves.
@@Billy-bc8pk What do you mean inherently masculine? A woman lead for the next GoT game which is set 300 years after the first would make sense. If she is meant to be more of an assassin, there was a role for that when it came to women. Also, nier and stellar blade did not need to star feminine, overly exposed women as the lead. Those feminine traits were not important to the story at all. Bayonetta is the only one that make more sense given she is a witch using her hair as a power while also being very provocative and suggestive in her personality while fighting angels. Why do you think a female lead needs to retain some level of femininity? If the story is post apocalyptic and shows a lot of struggle, would not a more masculine woman make sense for the story if she is to survive?
@@Meltdownlv100 Exposed women appeal to male demographics, which is why those characters are inherently popular and the characters from Concord are not. Nier and Stellar Blade also both tapped into story elements related to feminine perspectives related to healing, love, and bonding (especially Nier with the relationship between 2B and 9S, which was a driving force for much of 2B's actions, and in the third act of the true ending, the entire driving force between 9S actions -- something you would not get if 2B were a male). Also masculine women make zero sense in a post-apoc world because they simply would not exist. We see what becomes of them in real world war scenarios like Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Libya. They do not become masculine and tough and survivors -- they sell themselves for food, water and shelter, or become someone's property. It's an effinist power-trip to think otherwise, because reality has never bore out a result any different from that.
No, gamers generally don’t hate women, the issue is simple inorganic or simply it’s a token or a half-a** design character that have no appeal for men nor women, both physically or personality wise, it’s often done to get a certain “modern audience” which means sacrificing the core audience and later blame it on you for not buying it. All because I am insulted for being born the way I am, but “it’s not for you bigots” or “your just hater” while we are providing very valid questions like, why can not say male or female or why is this character censored or simply why is this regarded as a bad thing and of course our questions are deflected and insulted for wanting a certain area like 2012 fun
We don't dislike women ...we hate DEI it's ruined Soo many franchises from star wars and even Tried ruining LORD OF THE RINGS ... Any time we see this archetype boss babe guys wallets start closing real quick... Write better characters like old Lara was Soo cool.
@@AliEemanSamy-lf9gl They were not samurai; also Lara was a female James Bond fused with Harry from Pitfall (or Indiana Jones). She was designed to be bombastic and fun, and that's exactly what the games were.
Good vid. If I am anything like most gamers, we hate feminism and equity stuff which is misconstrued as misogyny, although you never know how many of us have some woman hating in us or just a bit of sexist humour like about woman drivers or some shit like that.
Appreciate it, thanks. When I was a kid, I thought the grown ups had everything figured out, then I grew up and realised how incompetent a lot of them are. These companies really double down on bad decisions and copy each other's homework even after they see the other company failing. A lot of activists who enter entertainment are bitter or just not creative, so they don't know how to make endearing characters. All the popular female characters are just cool characters without a chip on their shoulders. Sadie Adler in RDR2 was such a badass, and everyone loved her. It just takes a good writer. But there are also woman haters out there. I just don't imagine they are as many as the mainstream claims.
@@TheMelMan Yeah even if it was a lot, it can't be that much when you consider how overblown it is by how they define it, like they want more female characters, but invalidate Lara Crofts popularity when she was bustier, or anything like a _Bayonetta_ or _Bloodrayne,_ while sweeping under the rug anything like _Portal_ or _Beyond Good and Evil,_ and to think how many _Resident Evil_ games have female protags... The strangest is when they champion female characters masculinised to the point you wonder why they are female to begin with. I wonder if Abby from _The Last of Us Part 2_ was male, how drastically that would change everyone's perceptions of that story.
Even if it is true that women did that stuff, the fact the game is using it's protagonist to spread awareness of it is still woke. It's pushing the HERstory agenda. I'm actually happy about that, but people don't like it because they feel it assumes that they NEED to know this stuff in order to not be sexist
As a male gamer, I love my female protagonist!! Eve from Stella Blade, Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw, Lara Croft, Bayonetta, just to name a few, and they're all stunning, brave, beautiful, and powerful. If you ask me, I think it's these woke journalists that Hate female protagonist. Just ask ign why they still haven't reviewed Lollipop Chainsaw..
man when Bayonetta came out people complained that shes too sexy and now that stellar blade is out, thr narrative of bayonetta was changed to be influential or positive
5:15 i never seen that before. Its basically the using long term fans from franchise while corrupt what fans want. If they forced their beliefs on gamers and fans they’ll lose them and much money.
No, it doesn't bother me at all, playing a woman in a game as long as it's well written and interesting, it's no problem for me, but we should stop putting activists in games, get some message across why not but it shouldn't become propaganda. In itself Ghost of Yotei wouldn't have bothered me at all, but what bothers me is the actress and the developers.
No we hate when they change our favt characters / franchises. Like ghost of Tsushima 2 should have been a thing but instead we get Ghost of Yotei. We wanted the continuation of Gin Sakai. Not an agenda filled game!
There was one game that actually made me excited for a female protagonist that was considered unusual for said game: In Dishonored: Death of the Outsider However for people who have never played the Knife of Dunwall DLC in dishonored 1, (which is very specific part of the game you can play) they are completely confused on who Billie Lurk is and why shes a protagonist.
Insomniac did the bait and switch with Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. They introduced Rivet a female lombax and played as her a majority of the game. The new Netflix He-Man did the same with Teela. You make some really good points. I just want to be able to choose instead of being locked into the character. I don’t want to play as the female lead in SW Outlaws. I would rather be a male mercenary. Attractiveness goes a long way to enjoy playing as a female character. Immersion is another thing. A strong lead has to be believable.
I don't think the character is going to be a real problem, but based on the VA's behavior, I think she'll end up being a marketing disaster when she inevitably begins to attack potential customers, as those types predictably do. Doesn't help that they're already starting with the "Don't like it, don't buy it" nonsense.
I know i'm that guy, but that's why i trust eastern developers, beside y'know i grew up mostly on Nintendo and SEGA But really, go play Xenoblade and what will you get? Both men and women being given meaning, arcs, personalities, chemistry with other characters, adversities to overcome, low moments, resolve, cool designs, cool or beautiful Also helps that those are games made by nerds for nerds Even before that i don't recall anyone complaining about playing as Jill Valentine, or Samus Aran, Lara Croft, Chun-Li, Heather from Silent Hill Sadly now people are so burned down by unnecesary politics that they'll reject something without the full picture Really miss when games were a form of art for those who were interested
There was no trickery. Trickery would be if they hid the fact the protagonist was a woman until release of the game. The trailer was them telling gamers what to expect. People would've cried "woke" even if they said a year ago that that were using a bugeisha as the protagonist. And did people hate of Red Dead Redemption for switching to Arthur? No. People loved him and the game. People are simply whining with little to no information on the story or even the gameplay. And I highly doubt tge people complaining have ever even glanced at Horizon or Tomb Raider.
female shinobi: not samurai, stoic, man dressed, stronger than men in armor woman if the game attempts to represent history then the suspension of disbelief won't happen easily nobody is complaining about genshin impact; the complains are about pretentious' historically accurate simulators misrepresenting history
Yes, during the time of the mass effect, face and dialogue disaster, there were people threatening and female TH-cam gamers and game developers. Even if they made a great game
No we don't. We just hate it that everythint that we like must be shared to women too so they can relate. And we also hate that every women's problem must be resonated with us. They never do the same thing with us, so why must we?
I honestly thought this issue was overblown until I saw some of the reactions to Ghost of Yotei. People are really ready to hate this game just because it has a female lead. Not everyone hates women but a lot of people do have some kind of mental block with this. They say that they don't want political activism shoved down their throats, but there is no indication that's the case in Ghost of Yotei, and they still want to hate it. The creators have more than earned a bit of leeway with Ghost of Tsushima. People need to wait until we see more of the game to decide whether it's "woke" or not.
If with everything that has been shown not only with GoY and the team behind the game, but also with the games and films in the last decade and you don't realize what they are doing, I don't know what else you need to wake up... .
What an amazing take. It's very refreshing to see someone trying to express a feeling that a lot of people can't, because they lack the ability to understand their own feelings and frustrations. Made me want to go watch the whole channel.
Samus was a girl ✅ Ripley 8 is an androgynous alien queen ✅ 2 Dragon Age Origins characters are bi-curious ✅ Black lesbian women with prosthetic limbs fighted for us during WW one? ❌ Tomb Raider was always meant to be a grim colonialist man with boobs? ❌ Only male Mortal Kombat characters can show skin? ❌
Women do tend to have preferences when it comes to media, though they are more open to more broader genres and forms of entertainment. Men do typically have pretty reliably known likes and wants. Action, adventure, scifi/fantasy, comedies etc women tend to be able to enjoy these as well, but also more like romcoms, horror, thrillers, coming of age stories etc.
No, I don't think so. The audience is just a lot more smarter than critics give them credit for They know when they are being sold snake oil. Do some reactions get overblown, sure. But can't deny there isn't an agenda being pushed. The guy who directed Spiderman 2 admitted it. I honestly think it isn't really game related though, but more about just keeping people divided. It's happening in movies and probably your workplace.
To be fair, I’m just not a fan of a female lead *in this game.* The setting is feudal Japan, and I was really hoping to play as an honorable samurai for that classic heroic vibe, like in the original. A female main character in this role feels a bit out of place to me, given the historical context. It’s kind of like playing as Kratos in God of War, but then in the sequel, you suddenly taking on Athena’s role.
No, gamers don't hate women. They do hate agenda being put above entertainment/ quality/ consistency/ logic/ sense though. Seriously, every single time a so called progressive or inclusive or modern audience ( or whatever other progressive buzzword) game fails, it's always for failing on one of these points, from what I've seen.
True. Though the character and even game can be good, yet it can still be ruined by those involved in its creation. I think art should be separated from artists, but when it's combined with negative reviews, worrying patterns, etc, it does tend to show it's not worthwhile, even if the game/ show/ movie itself seems good.
The people in this comment section getting their panties in a twist because of the game having a female protagonist. The Devs never intended to add in "politics" or "woke agenda" beyond "hey would it be cool to play as a badass female character". It makes more sense when you consider that SuckerPunch were inspired by Japanese cinema where female assassins would act on vengeance and the fact that the mountain in the game references femininity.
It’s not that gamers hate women. It’s that gamers have PTSD from all the woke agenda driven stuff you see from Suicide Squad and Concord that gamers have gotten so paranoid to everything that seems as such. Especially since Ghost of Tsushima was so beloved, the reaction has been so brash and large. It’s just the fear of this new game potentially being woke, especially since the actress who is playing the MC is a very liberal woke agenda driven in real life.
Very smart video. I liked the analysis that it's really more about a reaction to change than anything, and if something starts a certain way, it won't result in the same negative reaction. I could even point out the reverse- the Master System port of Ninja Princess was called "The Ninja" and replaces the Ninja Princess with a male protagonist, who now journeys to rescue her. Although there was no backlash I've ever heard of (since this is pre-MD Sega we're talking about and they just weren't that popular back then), retro historians will think the SG-1000 port (which keeps the same main character as the arcade version) to be the superior one, in spite of the weaker hardware (the better and faster gameplay also helps).
@virtualturboprincessrescuermk3 thanks for watching and I appreciate your feedback. I think it is definitely a reaction to change. Then a counter reaction to that reaction then a whole lot of noise because the back and forth becomes perpetual and there is no trust. And I'm glad you brought that up, too. Fans of characters don't like seeing them changed even if the change was female to male. Which wouldn't really happen current year but still. Nostalgia is very powerful and when people form bonds or take a liking to certain fictional characters, it feels wrong when that relationship is severed for no reason. I could even talk voice actors. If Splinter Cell was to return without Michael Ironside and they arbitrarily chose a new VA, people would be PISSED.
@@TheMelMan lol people were already pissed when _SC Blacklist_ didn't use Michael, though it turned out to be a function of his health issues at the time, so when Fischer cameoed in _Ghost Recon_ with Michael back, everyone was happy.
Unfortunately the way todays society gets hurt or emotionally damaged by things that dont have anything to do with anything like a beautiful woman in game makes other women feel insecure about themselves. 1 - if you feel that way you shouldnt be playing games 2 - The younger generations got what they asked for. This wont change and games will be worse for it.
I actually really respect this opinion. Referenced it in another video. Sometimes, it is just that simple. Liking one thing doesn't always mean hating the other thing. We have reasons for selecting everything, but when it comes to certain topics, people feel that your preference makes you a bad person or that you need to explain why you have that preference.
And woke men either. Gamers like people who really do care for justice, not narcissists who create the appearance that they are just. The term ´woke´ seems to refer first and foremost to narcissists, communal ones in particular.
I play a lot of games (online and singular) and no I don't believe we hate women or female characters. We hate activists who force their agenda in games, and we hate characters who are terrible written/the way they design and also force diversity instead it should be NATURAL/GENUINE diversity.
Actually, it seems more that game developers hate men these days, particularly white men, as it seems socially acceptable in those circles to say that you hate them, given a recent public example. I am a man, and I've always liked to play women in roleplaying games, a preference that goes back to when all we saw of our characters was pixelated faces, so it's really not what one might suspect. This is now changing, however, after 40 years, and the reason is that big western game developers appear to have developed a presumption to moral authority, the perception they have an education mandate when making games. And if there's one rather common thing I hate above anything else in people, it's moral condescension and the presumption of moral authority. So if I have reason to perceive a female protagonist to be part of a moral education mission, rather than being a cool character who just happens to be female, I will absolutely resent it and yes, even hate it.
Nope, don't hate female characters (generally, I pick a female first when offered the choice). What I do dislike is bland "Mary Sue" centered story-telling without nuance or hardship for my character, identity politics replacing all but a thin veneer of story, male franchises being phased out, and activists preaching at me about being a bad person for not liking these products. If GoY follows this trend, I'll be skipping it. BUT, if it is a good game that happens to have a female lead, I'll pmay the F out of it without care. *shrug*
Games moving in the direction of Hollywood would break the studios quickly than movie studios . Movies have strong theater audiences and they may not connect well with movies from other countries. But games are very digital and the gaming experience is an indoor experience so people will easily go for games from other countries as we can see with monkey king game.
the only way to fix this is to eliminate dei quota from all working places, it is not very pleasant to have to see people who aren't even talented at making videogames... especially when videogames mean to you what they mean to me, I have a wife, we've been together for 12 years already, we have a 4yo beautiful little girl, but videogames are still a huge part of my life
Tbh lady ghost doesn't look too bad. Shes attractive enough imo. And reboot Lara looks 100000x better than OG Lara. Alloy is cute in the first game. I haven't played the 2nd though.
Gamers don’t hate women they just don’t like forced diversity. Ghost of yotei feels like forced diversity I can understand if they didn’t want to bring him Sakai back even though their was still material they could’ve used to bring him back but they could’ve just had another male protagonist in yotei and gave him a female sidekick like they did in the first game
@@Godzilla_Star_Eater It’s forced because no one asked for it. No one was asking for a female protagonist they wanted to see Jin Sakai or at least another male protagonist
Don't care if it's a man or woman just don't make a bait and switch move, first building your fanbase on masculinity then once you have the fanbase your switching to a woman lead if you want a woman she should start the franchise and let the woman build it. Loved horizon zero dawn up to forbidden west even if Aloy is Gay. Loved Tomb Raider series. What I haven't seen is a franchise based on a woman then the sequel is based on masculinity. Look at Gears of War the franchise is based on brotherhood of soldiers / men now it's about being a mother.
Personally I like female characters in a third person genres more but tbh some other people just don't its like Star Wars Outlaws I find Kay far more interesting than Cal from Jedi Survivor but hey unpopular opinion I guess🤷
The issue is the games back then that started off with the woman protagonist they didn't switch and bait. When you played Lora coft games... You knew you were going to play female protagonists and thats fine.. If you played Draken order of the Flame you knew you were playing a girl through and through..... when you played kameo or Alice return to madness you were those characters you didn't switch and bait the characrters saying here is new characrter..... That's like Lora coft is now a guy now..... You must accept it.... that will piss off a lot of gamers. When you switch and bait an already an established characrter you kind turn people off and make mad. Another issue all these new games coming out are all females. Also games back then weren't all males, Resident evil, silent hill, lora coft draken, primal, beyond good and evil, Bayonetta, blood Ryan, and many many more if you use ur simple google search you can find a tone of women protagonists......
TL;DR answer: No. Have you seen how many JRPGs (Like Atelier for example) out there with a female lead and see people having problem with it? Nope, Do people have problems with Stellar Blade? Nope, or Bayonetta? Nope, or Lolipop Chainsaw? Nope, how about early Tomb Raider? Nope either, How about the first Horizon? Nope. The problem lays when it's obvious that people behind/worked on the game wanted to push identity politics into their game instead making a fun product.
I think Ghost of Yotei is going to be a great game, and one I intend to pre order it as soon as possible. It wasn't what i initially expected (i think that was the case for most people), but i sm intrigued with what SP will do with this direction, regarding the main character and wider narrative. In my experience, i think some male gamers do hate women.
Well, get a large enough group, and it's bound to have at least some bad apples of a given kind. The issue is, it is widely overblown, and has blanket application, when the majority actually do just want to play video games.
gamers aren't stupid. part of being a good gamer is recognising patterns. You can tell this move is about identity politics of the time. I got the platinum trophy in the first base game. I am not investing the same amount of time in some woke DEI narrative. And why would gamers hate women? The dumbest idea ever.
There's nothing wrong with having a female lead I personally enjoyed mirrors edge, Re3, code Veronica, blood rayne and remember me but I don't blame them. imagine just how many infuriating female leads we've had in the past years. Saints row reboot Reboot Mulan Reboot Ghostbusters Reboot Charlie's Angels The acolyte Ray Skywalker True detective Star wars Outlaws Last of Us 2 Velma She-Hulk Gears of war 5 I am not Starfire Rings of power Barbie movie Robyn wood series The chick from Indiana Jones 5 Am not saying yotei is woke and am not saying it isn't either. only the character and story will tell
There are many that hate this due to some woke or related agenda being pushed behind the development of the game and characters. On the other hand, unfortunately, there are also quite a lot that are without senses and hate female protagonist for no reason.

@@MrPlagueDr there is no patriarchy in this game. It’s a lawless land for exiles. As for women always being the victim, it may not be the case here. people just dont want to play as ugly protagonist ... don't matter male or female. just coz some dev wants to self insert themselves doesnt mean people want to play their ugly ass. thats the reality. there is tons of badass good looking female protagonist videos games out there that were successful and no one complained. good luck marketing to the 70 modern audience that played concord :D game engine and backdrop looks amazing like its 1st game but after the trailer i had 0 appeal in playing this game. its like horizon zero dawn all over. make a descent 1st game then make the characters ugly as fck no reason in sequel.
I don't hate straight women particularly but yeah don't like lgbtq representation of them like they're just there in name of diversity but with unecessary development and same goes also for Woman but when ever we talk about lgbtq Western countries show their partners as same gender which I hate if you're showing lgbtq doesn't mean you have to show them with a partner you can make them a Lone Wolf like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider duology (Don't played or know about the 3rd part )and Jill Valentine.

You can't possibly think that that small group of women is the entire dev team at SP? Lmao. They were just taking a girls photo. And yes, women worked on Ghost Of Tsushima as well 🤣-probably the women in that photo! There are around 160 devs working at Suckerpunch for these games.
Everyone here ignoring the fact that there were real life female samurai like kaihime Actress political views have nothing to do with their performance. Kevin conroy was gay and he voiced Batman for decades
nobody cares that its a woman, people DO care that girl-boss and forced uglification of women narratives being in the game. keep politics out of video games
Your theory might be more convincing if we ever saw womens' entertainments changed as much as happens to mens'. Let's see what happens if we race and gender swap all the Disney princesses (that black mermaid movie didn't do great), re-shoot 'Princess Diaries' but starring The Rock, and make some Twilight movies that are all about gay men. Not buying Ghosts of Yotei right off is a wise consumer decision, not some kind male panic. The woke stuff tends to come as a package; if you see one bit of woke (e.g., girl boss) other woke stuff tends to come next (fascination with lgbt, racism against whites, socialist talking points, etc.) which makes a game predictable and thus boring. Also, woke on the outside usually means woke on the inside, meaning that the company has woke employees who were hired based on their demographics instead of merit, and that means a crap game is more likely. In sum, the best option is to wait, let's some TH-camrs get the game and then you can watch the gameplay and get informed about any embedded messaging before you drop $70+.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with having a female lead...long as the character is likable and interesting enough, then I'll be fine

I mean, they can be unlikable if it's part of the pathos. Hollywood is too afraid to make women with flaws, who have to overcome them, and grow. If games can frame undesirable traits as something to overcome, that can be interesting.

I would argue that the media itself as a whole hates women. Seriously, most female characters are just guys with boobs, with any sense of femininity eliminated. I've gone back and watched movies from decades ago, and those ladies were awesome; also actually feminine, even the tough ones.
You see it in movies also in addition to games. They really do think of pretty girls as being problematic.
Would love to setrilize my brain after getting too much of this DEI invested drama

gender is not the problem. i played, horizon, bayonetta, kena, sometimes female characters in online games. the problem is the constant entitlement they keep portraying and changing the character is one of the issues that's happening. games are entertainment, that's it. now activists are making the industry a public issue ruining everything they touch.
Short answer, no. And they know that, but to push their agenda they use that as a way to discredit the opinion's of gamers.
@@Billy-bc8pkso how do you put a female lead in the game without it feeling like they are pushing an agenda?

As a Dude who enjoys video games, yes I hate real-life and ugly fictional women.
All because I am insulted for being born the way I am, but “it’s not for you bigots” or “your just hater” while we are providing very valid questions like, why can not say male or female or why is this character censored or simply why is this regarded as a bad thing
and of course our questions are deflected and insulted for wanting a certain area like 2012 fun

As long as the female protagonist is a genuinely good character that isn’t forcing any messaging towards the player, I’m ok with them.
If there is one thing I can’t stand is the people who think they’re smarter than me insults my intelligence.

If I'm going to play a game with a female protagonist, she had better be well written, likable, and have dope outfits.
Hey hey hey, aloy still looks better than other single moms
Nope, don't hate female characters (generally, I pick a female first when offered the choice). What I do dislike is bland "Mary Sue" centered story-telling without nuance or hardship for my character, identity politics replacing all but a thin veneer of story, male franchises being phased out, and activists preaching at me about being a bad person for not liking these products. If GoY follows this trend, I'll be skipping it. BUT, if it is a good game that happens to have a female lead, I'll pmay the F out of it without care. *shrug*

There are many that hate this due to some woke or related agenda being pushed behind the development of the game and characters.
On the other hand, unfortunately, there are also quite a lot that are without senses and hate female protagonist for no reason.
Tomb rider, Uncharted lost legacy, Control - last time I played these games where we had good female characters and gameplay
Lgbtq 🌈 samurai ,well that's new
I guess you could say they/them?
Samurai sleeping with their male apprentices weren't exactly uncommon though lol
So a woman protagonist immediately makes it LGBTQ.
You are dumb lol
@@MaidenlessScrub That's why you still maidenless because you think sleeping = gay
@@aldinoindra2742 you do know that it’s actually fucking but I was just using another more polite word, right? Right? Your intellect can’t be that bad, RIGHT?
can someone pls show Asmon this video?
to do what? They already agree with each other
I don’t hate women. However, I do hate politics in my games but I don’t see how a game set in 1603 is going to involve politics. If a woman is the main character, it’s not an issue because at the end of the day, it’s just a video game not real life.
you have never seen boss girls in movies or games?
Modern day politics, I assume you mean?
@@MrPlagueDr are all girls in movies and games boss girls?
@@personperson1254 No but the date can't stop them from showing a boss girl fighting against the "patriarchy" and how women are always the "victim".
@@MrPlagueDr there is no patriarchy in this game. It’s a lawless land for exiles. As for women always being the victim, it may not be the case here. The trailer shows that this character is wanted for murder so how would she be the victim? The character is just a successor to the legacy of the Ghost.
Eve from Stellar Blade says no.
people just dont want to play as ugly protagonist ... don't matter male or female. just coz some dev wants to self insert themselves doesnt mean people want to play their ugly ass. thats the reality. there is tons of badass good looking female protagonist videos games out there that were successful and no one complained.
good luck marketing to the 70 modern audience that played concord :D
game engine and backdrop looks amazing like its 1st game but after the trailer i had 0 appeal in playing this game. its like horizon zero dawn all over. make a descent 1st game then make the characters ugly as fck no reason in sequel.
Gamers don't hate women, infact theres been multitudes of main female mc's we loved but we dont like the hidden motives and forced agendas thrown in our face.
Name 1 game series where a female protagonist was replaced by a male
Simple answer is yes
Do women hate gamers? Now that is the question!
😏
Short answer: yes
Long answer: yes
i very rarely play as woman in game...but this woman is different...
Did you see the developers from Tsushima and the developers from Yotei, Tsu is men & Yotei is women, this will be a different game possibly completely
You can't possibly think that that small group of women is the entire dev team at SP?
Lmao. They were just taking a girls photo. And yes, women worked on Ghost Of Tsushima as well 🤣-probably the women in that photo!
There are around 160 devs working at Suckerpunch for these games.
Good stuff, like you said, gamers biggest problem are changes that they didn't ask for and have long been tired of.
Jokes on you, i'm a man, and in almost any character creator i make my avatar a woman, because i want to look DI-VI-NE
nothing wrong with the ghost of yotei protagonist, the problem is her voice actress look her up the girl is insane.
Not entirely, but there is definitely a Tendency.
Everyone here ignoring the fact that there were real life female samurai like kaihime
Actress political views have nothing to do with their performance. Kevin conroy was gay and he voiced Batman for decades
exactly
being gay and being an activist are not the same thing
nobody cares that its a woman, people DO care that girl-boss and forced uglification of women narratives being in the game. keep politics out of video games
