Great video. I thought the same thing when the lil fella picked up that hammer. No good can come of this. lol Glad he was ok, one of those great life lessons of a boy puttin' in the work with his Dad.
man i love aluminum boats! great job. Hey you should put enough foam in the voids to be bouyant if you capsize, all that weight is gonna go straight to the bottom otherwise. I like the pink XPS foam from the hardware store but some folks like the expanding stuff just as well.
You know , I watch tons of boat build videos on yt. I like that yours seems to be more based around fun and getting it done , while having "good enough" craftsmanship. It about getting it out there and enjoying with the family. I like it. What size is it , 12?
@@bonacci01 That’s exactly what it’s about. 13.5’ is the length on Old Florida and it’s been nothing but good times since building it. You don’t need a fancy boat or fancy tools to make something to have fun with. I’m going to make a 2year review soon. Thanks
That's badass. What paint did you use on the wood deck and benches? Are they cool to touch in the hot florida sun? Trying to find budget friendly options for a deck that don't include sheet aluminum and EVA foam sheets.
@@monster-pq7ln Thank you! I used Tuff coat on all the exterior decking. Then I sprayed raptor over that which is like a bed liner paint. It’s holding up great and it’s been 2yrs. I’m actually putting together a 2yr update video with everything I used and how it’s holding up. If you want to subscribe to my channel and check it out. Maybe a week or so I’ll have it up.
Now that's one rockin' makeover, Skip !! She's a beautiful beast. Happy sailin', familia. Hola from Barcelona ! 🌿 🧜♂️ 💯

@@GEEGONKEY thanks. I will.
good looking boat! im currently restoring a 1963 star craft. did you do anything to strengthen the transom aside from the new corner caps?
Yes sir just 1/2 plywood and 1/8 aluminum cut to fit.
Really cool build. Love it...... What river was that?
Thank you! We were at Marys fish camp located in Bayport FL. The spring is Weekiwachee river
@@GEEGONKEY .... No kidding? I'm only about 30 minutes north of there. In Crystal River.
@@Mike-gw9yt lol I love Crystal river. We have been there a few times as well.
Sweet build! I have the same Merc on a 1951 Naden 14'. Did you DIY your tiller extension? Couldn't get a good look at it in the video. Thanks.
Yes sir i have built my own tiller extensions out of aluminum. I will be making a video soon!
Where did you get the graphics? How well do they work and hold up?
metrorestyling.com/ 2YRS GOING STRONG. I'm going to do a 2yr review so you can check it out!
