    🔥🔥Thanks so much for watching! If you're thinking of switching to Davinci Resolve, welcome! This video should help you get started: th-cam.com/video/bPBdT4nfPdA/w-d-xo.html

    Great, and then in Davinci and Fusion many operations can also be done in different ways, for example (but you know it better than me) the initial new fusion composition can also be done by right-clicking in the media poll and choosing "New fusion composition". The freedom of node programming is to jump and place any node directly at that point in the programming. Thanks for this nice video.

    I watched a ton of fusion video's from other people and fusion still felt too hard to learn. but now through this video I finally saw the light see myself using fusion! thanks a lot!!

    Im new to davinci resolve, in fact today was my first time trying to understand the node system. Then I got your video recommended and its a great video man, idk how you dont have a larger audience but you totally deserve it.
    Hope the best for you man! Im subscribing.
    btw sorry for the bad english, its my second language haha.

    Yes, really great updates in a new 18.5 version and Multimerge is definitely one of them. I made some highlight effect in one part of a recent project where I highlighted certain areas of text from a document, zoomed in and out and then tracked position, scale and rotation in order for mask to follow it, and when I looked my node tree and there was one merge node stacked above another. I still don't use version 18.5 but Multimerge will definitely make workflow easier.
    Thank you very much for the video! Keep up the good work.👍

    How amazing is that?!?...man blackmagic is really surprising us lately

  • @asphaltandtacos
    @asphaltandtacos ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can use expressions in the multi merge node to have the transform property of one layer effect the transform property of another layer.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I believe you can do that with modifiers as well

    AE for motion designing/VFX and Nuke for complex composting 🤘

    • @akyhne
      @akyhne 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Both Nuke and Fusion will absolutely smoke AE for VFX.

    I think @Adobe After effects is much easier flexible and robust than fussion i use Davinci for my grade and edit but onces it comes to VFX Adobe after effects is my best choice

      Fusion is much more powerful, than AE.

    im really keen to switch to fusion but i have a lot of after effects files that i build upon in "novel" animations - anyone know of a relatively easy way to switch these files to something fusion can use? (I have over 200 animations that are super time sensitive because they are for brain imaging so it would take me so long to start completely from scratch!)

    Great video mate! How do you do the moving screen following the mouse in the screen recordings? I like the effect. Thanks

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's actually not an effect! I mapped the Windows magnifier tool to my mouse and set it up to always keep the cursor in the middle of the screen. All of that is done in real-time during the screen recording,

    I think that Blackmagic Design would make life really easier if they had an import option to import in After Effects files or templates. I have a BUNCH of them from back when I used to use CrapDobe's stuff, however, now, I end up either having to recreate them or recreate and re-use the assets associated with the file.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That would be amazing, although recreating after effects assets in Fusion is one of my favorite ways to get better at Fusion! Thanks for watching Thomas!

    Hi!! The only thing that stops me to move to Fusion is Expressions and some effects like posterize time. I do not see good tutorials to replace this on Fusion, I work a lot with expressions and Expression controls, 2D templates, and animations. Can someone tell me what to do? Or where to see it??

    • @akyhne
      @akyhne 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Read the Fusion manual. The node "Stop Motion" does similar to "Posterize Frame".

    Please tell your sponsor, Motion Array, that they should show more interest in DaVinci than the Adobe family. ;)

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha well it's only been a few years that people could actually create drag and drop effects for Davinci Resolve, so it's going to be a while before they catch up. Plus, with Motion Array, it's a marketplace, so availability really just relies on how many people are choosing to sell on the platform.

    Can fusion do everything after affects can?

    • @akyhne
      @akyhne 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes and no.
      Fusion is a VFX/compositor tool and is superior to After Effects in that regard. But After Effects is better at motion graphics. There will be features in both software, that the other doesn't have.

    13:00 - So, my take away from this video is that I have to buy third-party effects in order to have any kind of 3D objects "directly" in Fusion.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว

      I created that 3D object natively in fusion. The 3rd party effect was just the CRT TV lines.

    im trying to switch, but i found that Fusion in davinci have many bugs thats driving me crazy.
    for example, i keep getting my fusion composition with black screen in edit page for NO REASON. i ve tried everything with no sucess.

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Most common reasons for that is a lack of system power or something not being connected correctly in the composition

      try disabling gpu for gpu-intensive nodes. You probably got out of memory gpu error

      They are both very flexible. Ease of use I think really just depends on which one you're most used to. I was never really able to wrap my head around After Effects. I picked up Fusion a lot more quickly. Thanks for watching!

      what's your workflow

    • @akyhne
      @akyhne 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Fusion is much stronger for VFX. There's a reason why the pros use Nuke and not After Effects, for complex work. And Fusion can do almost anything Nuke can.
