But since I found you channel you've definetly helped me out alot. Great job with the tutorials. Keep it up man 👏👏👏

    The transition from After Effects to Fusion has been a struggle for me, but I'm getting there. I particularly had troubles figuring out how to trim paths, posterize time, and wiggle. This video is so helpful. I still need to speed up my workflow from Affinity Designer to Fusion, timing audio to a Fusion composition, and how to quickly add easing curves without messing around for several minutes.

    You're great at teaching thanks! The most frustrating thing in Fusion for me is drawing simple shapes and arrows in a fast / efficient way.
    Maybe very in-depth tutorial on all shape drawing capabilities would be great to make for you - I think many Davinci users would appreciate that.
    Also I tend to avoid fussion because every time I bring my media in it it messes up color correction, so after putting the graphics on I have to work around by creating a transparent background node and changing it with media in and then putting this on top of original media in edit page

    • @RyanOsborneUK
      @RyanOsborneUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a really great suggestion. Thank you! The colour page runs after fusion in the chain of processing so it can be a little confusing sometimes. Using alpha backgrounds is the way round this for sure!

    Seriously, this is awesome! I’ve been learning motion design in fusion because I’ve been editing with resolve for like 4 years now and don’t want to get into after effects because of the price. The hardest part though is just the lack of tutorials for fusion and motion graphics. These help me to follow along with after effects tutorials but in fusion instead!

    And Another idea for you:
    I've been stuck trying to do a very simple thing - "Distribute multiple copies of an object along a path ether equally or by some sort of spacing curve">
    The only way I got it sort of working is by using Duplicate and Time Offset, but things got so messy that I don't even know what's happening sometimes.
    The only thing I want is 5 copies along this path that's it...

  • @2424rocket
    @2424rocket 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You’re winning a case for after affects… Everything that’s simple to do in after affects is a cluster fuck to do in Fusion. Now I do understand that when you’re getting super complicated fusion can do some amazing stuff… But for simple stuff… After effects is so so so much simpler and more intuitive.

    • @xanzuls
      @xanzuls ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stuffs that are complicated or takes more steps to do in Fusion because you have more control over it, not some one click pony and if it doesn't work then you're done and have to buy 30 more plugins to do basic things. After effects is indeed simpler hence professionals in VFX studios don't use it because it lacks tools and workflows for complex projects.

    Long time AE user here venturing out trying other compositing/mograph software like DaVinci Resolve/Fusion. Safe to say you have immensely sped up my learning process.
    I am now even more confident to swap out AE if even the free Resolve packs nearly as many capabilities for 2D mograph.
    Wondering if you are going to cover the sShape nodes (sRectangle, sNGon, etc.) as they seem to operate on a slightly different way compared to the regular shape nodes.
    Thanks a lot for the great and concise tips and tutorials.

For me as a very experienced user of After Effects, the one thing I've been anxious about the switch to daVinci is that I've gotten quite comfortable using expressions within AE. Does fusion have an equivalent, and if so, a video introducing us to the basics would help me finally toss AE in the bin!!!

      There's no direct control for this (unless you're using the dedicated rectangle mask node) but if you add a point at either side of your corners and highlight them, then hit smooth points in the viewer window, you should be able to shape a rounded corner that way. Old school, but it works.

    Hi Ryan. Thank you for your video, you’ve got some really helpful tips.
    I’m a VFX artist for TV and film and I’ve recently moved to Fusion from After Effects. I’ve managed to do almost everything I did in AE in Fusion except there is one really helpful effect I don’t know how to replicate in Fusion, “refine soft matte”. If you have any advice or what I could use to replicate this effect I would be really grateful.
    Also I recently had to change the fps on some cctv footage I was placing on a computer screen and couldn’t find an easy way to do this in fusion so your plugin is really really helpful so thank you again.

      Keying for green screen? There are so many videos on TH-cam, about green screen keying.
      And DaVinci Resolve & Fusion are some of the best on the market for that.

    not an AE user and just curious: can one rearrange these panels? I see you always dragging stuff all over the screen from the right FX panel to a track on the lower left then move up to the effect controls above. That's a lot of mouse travelling compared to Fusion's FX search box that pops nodes basically in-place (less dragging) to then mess with in the Inspector on the right.
    .. oh and I'm here for what's not in the title's parentheses.

    Thanks for your very informative and simple videos, I'm definitely switching to Fusion. Firstly I was scared of nodes but your materials as well as Casey Faris tutorial made me enlightened in that topic :D.

    Is Fusion as rich in features as After Effects? Thinking about switching from Pr/Ae to Davinci but it seems Fusion is not as good as Ae for Motion Graphics. Any Motion designer here that made the switch? Currently thinking to go Davinci for everything but Motion graphics which I'll maybe keep doing in Ae

    • @RyanOsborneUK
      @RyanOsborneUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a control called “blend” for the merge node that you’re running the image into 🙂👍 keyframe this to do a simple fade in. Hope that helps!

    resolve is way more advance and have much better performance handling video and 3D ... It is real 3D compositor unlike AE... I say this for ppl asking is resolve "as good as" adobe suit? Answer is yes and resolve is more powerful than primier, ae, audition and media composer combined!! Dont compare a toy saw with a real chainsaw.

      And im leaning more toward 3D now days using blender on linux and rendering as EXR image sequences no other software handles exr as smooth as resolve. Multi layer exr lacks a bit in resolve compared to nuke but still way better than AE for 3D comps and for the resolve free or one time payment studio price at this point its a no brainer for small studios or freelancers.
