    Dude thank you! I was searching for a way to remove super glue without using acetone as it is too aggressive for painted surfaces. This worked incredibly well.

    This is interesting!
    It took them 40 attempts to get their water displacing formula to work, but on the 40th attempt, they got it right in a big way. WD-40 Multi Use Product was born. WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, 40th formula

    Off topic. But I just wanted to say, thank you so much for introducing me to Zinc Sulfate for super caps. That stuff is pure magic. Definitely some battery chemistry happening, I'm not far off from lithium energy density! Even just using grafoil on it's own with that stuff is crazy powerful!

    WD40 also removes silicon sealant. Plumbers recommend it for cleaning away old silicon sealant before replacing it on sinks and bathroom fittings.

    I also use WD-40 to remove stickers from automotive parts. If you have an old sticker on your vehicle that you want to remove then just spray the sticker with WD-40, let it sit then get a credit card or plastic scraper and keep applying WD-40 as you are scraping and pulling the sticker off. Then come back with Alcohol to clean off the glue and put some wax over the spot where the sticker was and your are done.

    I had a command hook that wouldn’t stick, so in a tantrum I superglued it to the wall …..in my rented accommodation…. Which I’m now leaving 😅 how would you approach removing this? I have both acetone and wd-40 . If I have to put some filler in the wall it’s not the end of the world 😅

    What is the point of using wd40 if you still have to use something abrasive to take off the glue ? Shouldn't the wd soften the glue to where you can use a cloth to remove it ?

    i've heard that WD40 "shouldn't be used" on things containing rubber. So i wonder if it's subtley dissolving the top layer of rubber which allows teh superglue to come loose. Not a problem (i'd use the technique myself now i know about it), i'm just pondering what's going on here.

    • @Carboneye7
      @Carboneye7 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The wd can swell the rubber is why they mentioned that. In a lot of cases this isn’t a problem. I’ve even used on blaster to purposely swell o rings and it works great.
      Ultimately petroleum will break down rubber but with the case of wd it seems like it’s not that aggressive

    • @MyNameIsLukey

Now the strap is broken and I can't replace it because the glue is stuck on the mechanism and the Fitbit. Hopefully it work enough for me to be able to get a wedge in their and separating them. I’ve superglued something to plexi-glass and I’m trying to find a good way to remove it as the mechanism I was trying to use isn’t gonna work properly so I want to swap it out for a new one my project is 95% done at this point and all put together so I’m trying to save it as if something goes awfully wrong it would really be a shame at this stage… I used isopropyl alcohol on a plexiglass piece and it caused cracks to appear and compromised the piece and I had to start over, it also removes silicone aswell which id like to avoid but that’s not a deal breaker for me as that may be hard to avoid with these sorts of products, I’ll just be extra careful to avoid getting any near the silicone when applying if that’s the case…. I’m not sure that wd40 will do the trick.. any ideas?

    WD-40 works even better on stickers; .
    Paper-based stickers: spray generously and let soak through. Usually glides right off
    Synthetic stickers: use a heat gun to soften the glue and peel the sticker. Most of the glue normally remains, that's where DW-40 shines; you can get the glue off any plastic I've tried and not damage the surface.

    With all due respect YES THE WD HELPED alot really BUT it didn't remove one little speck of glue....it did however put oils into the belt keeping you from testing it to shreds the glue coming off was all you...that's why you had to re apply because the oils has went into the small pores of the belt....that said I have always recommended doing this to get well pretty much anything off something rubbery (no the belt isn't full rubber I know that lol) because it aids in protecting the item you are trying to clean....try it on a hard surface and it would be pointless well may aid in helping you cut off your finger cause you will become grease lightning....cheers...I don't reply back to comments nor look just a heads up to all lol
