    Gorgeous! I love rock hunting but am handicapped now so those days are over.Went mining in North Carolina several years ago and had a great deal of fun but I had no idea how to polish them. Suppose I could find someone to teach me but handicap has me stopped of having a lot of fun like this. Just have to be happy watching videos. Thanks for sharing.

    Turned out beautifully! Love where you live...I live in Southern CA. and so far I haven't stumbled on specimens of any kind. Would love to take a trip to Oregon just to go rock hunting!

    Thank you for posting this. I really like the way you put this video together; you answered some questions that have been bugging me. I had a really good rockhounding experience in South Dakota, I found some lovely gold striped agates. I have been doing some amateur smoothing by hand with sandpapers and sanding film, and I wanted to know how the machines are used. I had also been curious about agate hunting, so I really enjoyed your part on finding agates in the soil in Oregon. Very cool video, I really enjoyed it. Also just love your lovely stone as well as the Carnelian.

    Can understand the ‘life’ thing when it takes weeks or months to get back to a project!
    Beautiful specimen and a nice job on the clean up and polishing.
    I think the variations in the top & bottom formations has to do with the speed and the materials introduced at the time of forming. Well, that’s my guess I am not an expert in any way!
    Thank you again for sharing this process and your ‘Beauty’. By the way, do you name your finished pieces?

      Is there a reply? Can you give us fellow rock hounders a clue Any legal BLM sights we can check out (natural areas, etc) for us newcomers that want to find just enough to enjoy a "bucket-list" dream before we can't walk or get around anymore? Is it North, south east or west part of the county? Give us a clue or a creek name to at least get to find a little color to make us thrilled to find it ourselves in the natural resource. Please?

    • @sprocketsrocket
      @sprocketsrocket  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You take a deep gulp of relaxing air and put the stone back on the wheel that corresponds with the severity of the scratch. It sucks but that is the only way. Good Luck.

    Hi Dave, first time to see your video, I was captivated all way through, and I have a stupid question, but what kind of machine is that? I live in Southern Ohio where the glacier ended and find tons of fascinating rocks (sediment) and never even thought of polishing the agates I find till I saw your video. It would be fun to do. So, if you see this, please tell me what the rock polishing machine is called. Thanks for sharing the video, it was awesome!

      Sorry about the jiggles, I don't think its the cameras fault so I'll chalk it up to inexperience, steep and uneven terrain, and a lack of another cameraman.
