Love rock and agate hunting in Minnesota where we lived in the day 1980s. Now, in Arizona, we have to watch for scorpions when we rock hunt! Great video. Thanks.
I am a rock hound (couldn't stop if I wanted to) with about a 4 mile creek of these rocks from one family ranch to another so untouched by others. Vergin rock hunting area if you will.I have no idea what is what, just that I love them, and have been collecting for 40 years now? I got my grandkids into it before they could walk. Even after they first learned to walk, they would insist on walking at least a mile just looking and picking up rocks and flowers as their map. They all got into their own lives, collage etc, all 3 still single though so maybe now that they are grown they will go back to it.Nothing relaxes you more then looking into and at the natural beauty of nature, and then exploring it further as you mold it into your own creation. This was so fun.. Thanks! Now that I am retired I'm thinking I will get a slicer and polisher and start learning the art of polishing with the right buffers and that of course will need a book on rocks and minerals. Next faze of my life at 65. Finally doing what I love to do. Next time I am starting out that way. :-)Happy Rock Hunting!
omgosh you sound like my male double,i use to sit on the rocks at the shore for hours and hours digging for agates.Id would go up state from excelsior with my grandmother in her camping trailer and my nuncle larry who fished.I too wish that I could like on that kind of land there,id be digging constantly. Here in Iowa now we hunt for geodes, and fossils. In fact there is a park you can hunt and keep the fossils you find.I will be taking my grandson and daughter there this summer.Im so jealous of you.The love of rocks has been with me since birth I think.Growing up in a small town,i use to walk the rainroad tracks and find all kinds of stones,id fill up apple boxes, unbeknown to me my grandfather would use them to fill the pot holes in the alley when there were to many boxes. To this day, stones still amaze mne and I covet all of them I see,I should of been a professional semi precious and gem digger and go right into the minds. If you ever want som,e company looking for rocks up there let me know....I SSSooo want to be there digging along with you.I still walk the tracks around here when I live, but if the train comes the conductor calls the police as it is private property and chasses me off, dicks. That part of the tracks was filled with someplace digging up white quartz crystals and all kinds of big..reallyt big white quartz./again,i leave in totally jealousy of your agates, would trade you some geodes if you like? take care, tomorrow im going to see if morrels are up,but it might be raining,Lisa
Great video and great agates. You are very fortunate to have friend who owns a gravel pit. Here in NE Minnesota a pit that doesn't have a "No Trespassing" sign on it is nearly impossible to find.
Hey I live in southeast Minnesota right on the Mississippi. Try searching dry Creek beds in the farmland. Late summer- early winter is the best time to go after the bed dries up. Just ask the farmer if you can prospect for stones on their land most of them won't mind. You get the added benefit that most people search the river beds and you are taking it to the source. I actually found a creek that literally drains from under the bluffs into the valley below and we get a lot of washout. I have found some great stones.
Thank you so much for filming this video! It was awesome! I love the way you pan the rock piles, the way you zoom in on the agates (makes the viewer feel like they are with you), show the agates after they are cleaned up and EVERYTHING!!! I can just "feel" myself at the gravel pit I go agate hunting in and it makes my heart sing!!! I am from MN and writing this after having several days of sub-zero temps. I am soooo looking forward to spring...some 58 or so days away only! Thanks again!
Wow those "Lakers" are awesome looking!!!!!!! Lived in North Dakota, which had very little rockhounding in my area(that sucked)... I now live in Oregon and in rock heaven.......Going to have to get some "lakers" one way or the other, those "rock" Dude...........Great job on your video......
that big red and white banded stone out of the bag is fantastic.,Would you share your agagte hunting with a couple farm girls? Me and my sister.Ive been meaning to get up north in a long time,My grandparents graves are off of hwy 7,I grew up in Excellsior,in fact I worked at the amusement park until it was torn down for those asteticallty beautiful condominiums in its place.Such a waste,it was a wonderful part,so old and one of the best haunted houses and wooden roller coster.Thank you for sharing your rocks, you rock on :)
How much do these rocks worth? My son loves collecting rocks, this might be something good for me to look forward to when he brings bunch of rocks home...
Gostei muito desse vídeo, moro no Brasil, no estado do Paraná, no município de Pato Branco, aqui tem o rio Chupim, e tem muito dessas pedras, de todas as cores.
LOL - Aren't they just extremely addictive? Every time I go to the cottage I know I'll be a good time, rock picking seems to let the day go by very quickly and let's face it, a lot of those rocks are very mesmerizing and impressive. I got a 50+ lbs chunk of pure quartz in my basement :)
I’m failing to understand why someone would get excited over a mountain of stones? That said, I would be very interested to know how some stones got their characteristics? Ie, lines, Colours, pitted surfaces etc.

Fantastic. In every layer of the stones there is the story of mother earth. I am fascinated by the stones for what they represent.😍👍🌏❤️
