  • Gunsmith, Author and Professional Shooter Patrick Sweeney remembers the original Colt Gold Cup fondly and is excited to evaluate the new Gold Cup Lite. With former U.S. Army Special Forces Officer Tom Beckstrand, they revisit this classic .45.
The Gold Cup Lite features updated BoMar-style target sights and a trigger that’s improved over stock 1911s. Contemporary updates can be appreciated including the addition of a modern fiber-optic front sight. Given the original Gold Cup was shot one-handed in shoulder-to-shoulder bullseye competition, Sweeney relives the tradition and demonstrates what a professional shooter can do. Beckstrand takes a modern approach and shows off its accuracy, no matter how you hold it. The Gold Cup Lite proves that Colt is still a master builder of John Browning’s legendary Model 1911.

@@markymarklpn8 I still haven't bought my first 1911, because I will probably only ever get one, and it has to be THE ONE, if you know what I mean. I want it to be a Colt, for no other reason than that's the original. But I am afraid I will be disappointed in the performance. This might be "the one"??????

@@timhallas4275 I love this pistol. It's smooth as silk. I'd highly recommend goint to gun ranges and shooting several before making the purchase. I just picked up the sig sauer p220 legion 10mm legion gray and it's incredible also. It's all a out preference my man!

@@markymarklpn8 I've been thinking about going to 10mm, ever since I sold my .357 magnum. I miss that sound and that recoil. It's like the smell of napalm in the morning.

@@timhallas4275 i love the legion 10mm but I'm still a fan of the 45cal. You can always go a little cheaper and land a rock island either or both calibers. If you're looking for nostalgia then the colt 45 is the way to go and you won't be disappointed, just get one before they transitioned to cz.
