The Thompson Center Dimension tried the "multi-caliber" bolt action concept and it didn't go over well with consumers. It will be interesting to see if Savage can make it work.

I thought New Zealand like Australia had banned all firearms.

Firearms aren't banned in Australia, they do have strict policies in regards to licensing though.
